The Sunday brunch is excellent! Eclipse has great food and vibe generally. But the brunch does it up right.

It was my first time visiting eclipse. The atmosphere felt very homey and there was someone playing live music. The service was good seated quick on a high top and the server got our orders in fast and the food was out as well. The Mac n cheese eggrolls were new and interesting. Outside was crispy and crunchy and you bite into a soft Mac n cheese pieces. I ordered the my first rodeo sandwich. It came with chicken, bacon, jalapeños, and the side of vegetables for the sandwich lettuce, tomatoes, onion. The chips are their speciality homemade kettle chips. Those were savory and crunchy. I think they can do a better job with sharing daily specials for the food I know they specialize in beer but I did not try any. Server jumped quick into starting us with drinks. Especially for a tourist like me there should be a welcome since this is a very dandy spot to have a restaurant. So service was a 2/5 food was a 3/5. read more

We stopped here while biking the Adena Bikeway because it looked like a cute "bike side" place to grab food. We were honestly excited!! baby sleeping, toddler ready to eat, outdoor seating available. It should have been the perfect stop. It went downhill fast. My husband asked the host for highchairs and both were broken. Wobbly, broken buckle straps (safety issue) we don't risk it with our kids. After asking again, they found another one. Not a great start, but okay. Then we waited at least 10 minutes before our server even came to get drink orders. When she finally did, we placed our food order and she didn't write a single thing down. By the time we needed refills, our server had completely disappeared for 20-30 minutes. Eventually a different server brought our meals. When my husband asked for drink refills, she told us we could refill them ourselves at the station in the front. What?? We've never been told to go refill our own drinks at a sit down restaurant ‍ My husband asked where our server was, and the second server clearly wanted nothing to do with helping us since we weren't "her table." He ended up going inside to find a manager, and the entire front area was full of staff gossiping and arguing with each other. Total chaos. The manager eventually came out and did absolutely nothing to make the situation right. On top of the service issues: * Outdoor seating with no lids for drinks = bugs flying into cups * They clearly need new highchairs if you're advertising as family friendly * Food was very sub par. Mac and cheese was NOT it, brisket was just okay. Dry but good flavor I guess LOL. We were really disappointed. This stop had so much potential, but the service and overall experience were a mess. Needed a place to take my college student for dinner during parents weekend and ended up here. What a charming place, off the beaten path. We dined inside (because it was HOT) but the outdoor seating area with live music looked amazing. The kid and I shared some mac and cheese egg rolls, which were crispy and delicious. He had a Brisket Rueben sandwich and chips. I had the crazy No Name Burger with BBQ sauce and onion straws. Both were absolutely fantastic. Service was a little slow. We weren't' able to get refills on our drinks and it wasn't that busy in the dining room. I'd recommend this place. Will probably go back when I'm next in the area. read more

Awesome concept and great food We were staying at burr oak lodge and the naturalist recommended this place. We were surprise by the awesome historical aspect. The restaurant is in the company store of an old mining town. There are still some of the original miner houses. It is also along the bike trail. We were also surprised to learn there was live music that night! The beer menu was diverse and food was really good with lots of customization with the sauces and sides. We tried the ribs and pulled pork. Meals were filling. Highly recommend! read more

Great place to take a group of 6 after a OU bobcat game. Eclipse company store is a unique building in that it is the only one of its kind now standing in Southeastern Ohio. The beautifully renovated Store is at the center of the century- old coal mining town of Hocking, which was operational from 1902-1938 and again from 1940-1948. The town itself sits atop the Eclipse Mine #4. The Store has polished original hardwood floors, original wood on the walls and a warm, inviting rustic elegance. Lots of beers to choose from. Wings are well above average, I love smoked wings. I got my traditional wings with the bourbon bbq sauce which is sassy. Service: The lady serving us was nice, but we were placed next to the "rolling napkins" table. Which consisted of a bunch of waitresses complaining about being at work. Food: My oh my whoever created this menu needs serious help. We started with the Mac & Cheese Eggrolls, who EVER thought this would be a good idea? It was like eating a kids science experiment, it just doesn't work. I'm a vegetarian. They advertise vegetarian options, yet they were out of everything except.... "Cauliflower Wings." The batter tasted like it was deep fried in the same fryer as the chicken wings, and it was definitely frozen cauliflower peices and not fresh- I took 3 bites and couldn't finish, plus just like the entres most of the vegetarian sauces were out. The sweet & spicy was nasty. My husband got a burger, and while that man eats everything... he took one bite and never picked it up again. Burger was soggy, meat was definitely cooked frozen, and the ranch was sour. They gave us chips, which were chewy, stale, and flavor was not there. And while everything tasted absoultely terrible, we thought we could save the day with dessert. Cheesecake. Who doesn't LOVE cheesecake. We ordered the specialty SMORES Cheesecake. That pile of chemical slop tasted like play-doh, we had one bite and we watched as our waitress picked up an entire table of full plates without batting an eye. Price: For 1 APP, 2 Entrees, and 1 Dessert totaling $77 you'd expect something... decent. But this place ruined all our expectations. Conclusion: Is is worth coming? Overall rating 79/100 Different vibe than what you'd expect. In my opinion it's a good, "let's grab dinner but where should we go" Perfect distance from Athens if you want to get away from college atmosphere. In recent visits it's been busy, they normally try to have some type of entertainment to bring the ambience and excitement up. Last time there was a band playing. Food is not that bad. I've gotten tacos and burger and both times I left feeling full and happy. Service could be better as we waited 15 minutes for the check and I couldn't grab the waitresses attention. They do have a good selection of desserts to choose from that were delicious. Not a typical go to place but I'm never disappointed when going. I've been here a couple times, once with friends on an off night and once for lunch after moms weekend and the Athens marathon. Service was quite good the first time, pretty typical to what I'd expect in general (~20min or so to food, plus refills etc). Wait time for moms weekend was closer to 1-1.5hr. Again, this is OU moms weekend and that's about what I'd expect any place even near town. Food was good, vegan and vegetarian options other than your usual black bean burger available which was great. I got a cauliflower sandwich which was quite good! Service was good, the servers appeared a bit run ragged but did a pretty good job all things considered. TLDR: on an average night, expect good service and good food! I would be embarrassed if I owned this restaurant. We arrive at 6:30 and were told it would be a 30 minute wait, give or take. We didn't get sat until 7:30. After we got sat it took 20 minutes just to get our drinks and another HOUR to even put our food in. It took an hour and a half JUST to get out appetizers. It's 10 pm and we are STILL waiting for our food. Mind you we ordered at 8:30. The servers keep giving us a time of when our food will come out and it has not came out yet. Sloppy and unprofessional. AWESOME place!!! It has outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor seating is very spacious. It has drinks and food. The service is always pretty quick. The food is SO good. I typically get the pulled pork sandwich with the sweet bbq sauce. I Always ask for more barbecue sauce and sometimes like it on the side. The bourbon bbq wings are so tasty and cooked so nicely. They don't overwhelm it with sauce. It is perfectly sauced. The loaded nachos are my favorite app. I liked getting pulled pork on top but you can't go wrong with any. Their kettle chips are so yummy. I also recommend their Mac and cheese egg rolls. I have never had anything like them before. They are very tasty. I highly recommend trying this place. Outstanding time at this GREAT place on the Hockhocking-Adena bike trail. The reviews were spot on. Great place to grab a sandwich/burger and a cold beer. Plenty of good vibes inside and Kala, our waitress, was fantastic. We both had a couple of tasty great beers on tap: Dutch Creek Spice and Apple Harvest Spice-DELICIOUS. Don't pass this place by. We had a great time at the Eclipse Company Store near Athens today. This hidden gem is off the beaten path, but sure worth a drive to get there. Big beer selection and fun menu options. We started with the pretzel bits which are served with a tasty cheese sauce. The bites were hot and salty! I ordered the Cowboy Bowl, unfortunately they were out of baked beans (it was an unusually warm day for early March) so I choose Mac & cheese with pulled pork. Delicious. What a find! Located just a few miles northwest of Athens and well off the beaten path. The restaurant was originally a company store for coal miners with company houses running down Jackson Drive. A large room with an outdoor music stage on the east side of the building. Incredible variety (2-3 dozen) of draft microbrews, but its calling card is an exceptional menu. Had a cup of Brunswick Stew, a mix of shredded beef, pork and chicken that had simmered for a couple of hours-- perfect on a cold, damp day. Inventive sandwiches like the Sunshine on Rye, and the bread would have qualified for an old school delicatessen! A few screens for watching games, and posters of music acts performing on their stage. Even driving through the small town of The Plains (like THE Ohio State University), you'd miss it. I believe that it was merely because it was an event instead of individual service, but Eclipse did not measure up to my prior expectations. Stopped in during a bike ride (we started in Nelsonville, went to Ohio University and then back to Eclipse then on to Nelsonville). Brayden was our server and she is super sweet! I wanted to try a local beer but wasn't sure so I told her my usual drink of choice and she brought me three samples (2 sours to stretch my taste buds and a blueberry). I settled on the blueberry, on this hot, humid day it was refreshing. We ordered a pound of their bone in wings, buffalo style and they have a unique taste because of the smoked wings. Prices are good, for the wings, my beer and 2 Michelob it was around $28. They have a wide variety of beers and the menu looks fabulous but we were only having a snack for the ride. The manager was nice and came to our table to check on us and we had some nice conversations with Brayden, she's such a sweet girl (I can say that because she's about the age of my daughter ).
