Stopped in for dinner while dropping my son off at OU. I was initially skeptical of the ordering process but we managed to order the mountain of food that we wanted and it was all excellent! Portions are huge and served on a cookie sheet. The fries were hot, crispy and delectable. Prices are reasonable for the mountain of food you receive. College town BBQ.........I have to admit I was not expecting to be WOW'D. I was wrong. The best St. Louis Style Ribs I've ever had. Great on the plate & warmed up even better the following day. The potato salad was amazing & the cheddar/corn bread muffins were great. The sauces available are heavily "Carolina" influenced......Thin & a forward vinegar tang. Today Tony and I stopped at Kiser's BBQ in Athens, Ohio for dinner after our movie date to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Tony started out upset from the jump for 2 reasons...it was 5:30 pm on Saturday..they do Ribs on Saturdays only and they were already 86'D on the menu...if they had a notice outside we would have went somewhere else immediately and the second reason, they do not serve BEER!!! But, I wanted to eat here! I'm the driver, my choice!! We both had Iced Teas. Tony went with the Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich with the Sweet Red BBQ sauce on the side with the Creamy Cole Slaw. I chose the Maxwell Polish Sausage Dog with Peppers and onions. We ordered a individual size order of Onion Rings to share. We always split everything!!! We only had to wait about 8 minutes for our food. It looked delicious!! Like I said it looked ..... Delicious!! The pulled pork was dry (glad for the sauce on the side) the Cole Slaw was great but it had huge pieces of cabbage...a little to big on cabbage chunks! But the taste was good. The Polish Sausage did not have onions...but it was huge! The peppers were hot. I can see how they were going for a version of a Chicago dog, but it was a miss! The onion rings were very good. Not very greasy, and they were fried well not burnt. I loved them! The iced tea was very good also. Definitely would go back again. Not ruling them out, I would love for you to try them out if in the area and let me know your opinion. read more

We were in town for YMCA Swim Championships and staying at Quality Inn. Walkablilty from the hotel is great. Service is not like a normal sit down restaurant. You seat yourself and order from your phone. It took a while to get our drinks. There not a lot of staff interaction. We ordered The Shakedown, the Pig Pen fries, side of Mac and cheese, side of onion rings and kids chicken tender. The Shakedown was good, onion rings were great. Mac and cheese was kind of bland. The Pig Pen fries were awesome for the first couple minutes then they started to get soggy. The frosted lemonade was watery but I love that they have ice cream. We got milkshakes for dessert. I tried the chicken drumsticks and the cornmeal biscuits on this visit and so glad that I did. They are the best thing on the menu. We will try the chicken quarters on our next visit! I got the pulled pork sandwich with Carolina vinegar and coleslaw on the side. It was amazing. I've never had vinegar with pork before and, as someone who's really picky with meat and a poor appetite, I found the addition of vinegar so good. It was spicy but with purpose/flavor. Then adding coleslaw on top helped with the harshness of the acid. Thank God they sell their Carolina vinegar by the bottle too! read more

We are from out of town, and found this place because BBQ was the only thing we could all agree on. However, after eating here we also all agreed that we are definitely coming back the next time we are around. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and everything on the menu looked good. Second time visiting for me. We got in just before the rush. It was cool inside so we ate indoors today. Food was good. We shared kielbasa link, Nashville chicken strips. Loaded fries with chicken and loaded mac n cheese with brisket. Plus cornbread. I don't care for the cheese sauce on loaded mac or loaded french fries. Clumpy and flour rue based. No flavor. First time eating here - friendly service right away! Sit yourself, you can order at the counter or using the QR code at the table but most seemed to order at the counter. We got a brisket sandwich, an order of the chicken thighs and the loaded french fries with pulled chicken. The sandwich was very good, flavorful and tender. The chicken thighs were juicy, well seasoned and flavorful - our favorite. So disappointed.... We went on Tuesday evening around 630. My first choice of brisket sandwich was not available.... Hmm ok.. how about the easy rider not available... brisket and ribs are not something they have a lot of was the explanation... yes it is a BBQ place.... So how about a plain ol' pulled pork sandwich and 2 jumbo wings. Whew! Finally picked the right thing right??? After 10-15 minutes I asked about my sandwich.... "Oh I'm sorry we are out of pulled pork would you like a burger?" Was the response.... It was clean, wings were ok but what kind of BBQ place doesn't have pulled pork?
