If you're ever in Gloucester Ohio, this is the place to eat! The food was great and the owners were great hosts!

I was a little happier with my blueberry muffin than I was my Cousin Vinny. I wanted so bad for the sandwich to taste like an amazing Muffaletta because of the ingredients, but it didn't blow my mind. Still, it was fine. It was disappointing that they were out of chicken cutlets because several of the sandwiches had that as the critical ingredient. But I would go back to explore the cutlets and their various Italian mains (lasagna, meatballs, etc) if I am ever in Nelsonville again.

We stopped in Nelsonville for a quick lunch enroute to WV. It was our good fortune to find…read moreAlfonso's Italian Kitchen! It is in an attractive, small storefront in the historic downtown area. Although there is no indoor seating there are chairs outside . Upon entering, you'll be greeted by the wonderful aroma of freshly baked breads and treats. Directly in front of you is a case filled with delectable goodies - assoted varieties of cannoli, tiramisu, lemon bars, New York cheesecake, strawberry cake roll, chocolate cake roll, macaroni, and more!!! My husband had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich on foccacia and I had chicken with pesto, balsamic glaze, mozarella cheese, & tomato on occasion. Both sandwiches were HUGE and one alone could have easily fed both of us! We each raved about our choice - delicious, tender foccacia, generous amounts of high-quality fillings, all with the perfect blend of seasonings. Service was friendly and efficient. If at all possible, we will definitely stop by on our way back north. 10/10 (actually more!!!). A definite must-stop!

There's some really great gluten-free options, especially on Thursdays. My kids love the pastries and they insist that the scrambled eggs are the best scrambled eggs in the world. On the weekend we get the waffle sandwich. They alternate week between gluten-free waffles and non-gluten-free ricotta pancakes. Service is always really great everyone's very friendly and accommodating. The interior is decorated with local artwork from passion works.

If you are a red velvet cake person, let me introduce red velvet cookies although don't know if that is what they call them. Something from everyone on this front but I rarely venture beyond the macaroons. The bowls with a heavy Thai influence include options such as a banh mi bowl. That's right, no baguette, just rice with a tofu option as well. Really good sauce and pickled flavor. Wish there were more veggies included as it a great taste, just wish more diversity in the toppings. Very casual dining room with tables for 2, 4, and a couple for bigger groups in the back. A counter in the front window gives you a great people watching perch on a key block of Court Street, the main drag in college town Athens.
