I have been a member here for 2 years. There is rarely anyone working in the facility. It used to he kept up better, but certain machines dont work or dont work well, light bulbs burn out and are not replaced, spiders have woven intricate webs in windows that are never cleaned. The spray bottles and rags that are supposed to be used to clean the machines by patrons disappeared one day and then were replaced with super cheap paper towels that rip and dont hold cleaning solution so the people who actually want to clean their machines, can't. I tried to cancel my membership in November and when I call, no one answers. So I emailed and kept emailing. I got one response, they did not do what I wanted them to do. I have now emailed 5 times and called and have gone to the location and no one is there BUT THEY STILL CHARGE MY CARD! Shameful buisness practices. read more

After dropping our membership, we started seeing charges again (6 months later). The first time, there were charges for all 3 of my family members. I had to call a couple of times, as my phone message was not returned. The person I spoke to was kind and apologetic. The following month....charged again. This time only one charge. I have been a member and personal training client of Eco Gym since this location opened two years ago. The concept of generating electricity from the treadmills was what drew me to this gym. This helps them to reduce individual membership dues depending upon how many times they workout which can even be $0 per month. This gym is very well maintained and clean with a hyperbaric chamber to help oxygenate your blood and speed up recovery. The gym is open 24/7 with key fob access during non-staffed hours. Great gym! Joined for the 6 week challenge and I am loving the workouts Surge classes. I go to the evening classes with Josh. He's a great trainer, motivating and knowledgeable. The classes are different everyday which keeps it interesting and challenging. The overall gym is clean and the equipment is current, not the old falling apart machines like you see at some gyms. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and not overbearing. I would recommend stopping in and taking a look around, you won't be disappointed. read more

I recently signed up with EcoGym for the Mid-Life Makeover Challenge and I absolutely love it! Tonight was my first training session, and boy it was a great workout. I have taken many classes at other fitness centers in the past, but tonight Matthew (class trainer) managed to throw some workouts in there that I had never done before. I am looking forward to my transformation. I can tell that no workout will ever be the same, due to the variety of drills provided during the class. The General Manager, Sean, told me that EcoGym should be my choice (as I told him that I had been shopping around for a challenge), and I am glad that I listened. My highest priority is location and this is perfect. I go early in the morning and it's never busy. Maybe 2/4 other people. It's pretty clean and has door security too. It lacks a few key machines. Rear delt and assist dip but I get along ok without. read more

This place is awesome. The staff are fantastic people. I love this place. Great equipment, very clean and modern atmosphere. The hyperbaric chamber is amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out! Funny how the only bad reviews are from people ranting about insignificant things; like "oh, they don't have a pool so I'm mad...and they had the nerve to try and gain my business anyways!...how dare they" or the "Boohoo I can't figure out how to cancel my membership so I'm going to bash them on Yelp. The manager Phil does not handle situations in a business appropriate manner. He blamed me for the issues with their billing system, when I proceeded to cancel my membership he told me if he looses one customer he doesn't care. They only care about money and are not willing to listen or help fix complaints about their issues. Would never recommend. They sucked me dry of money. read more

BEWARE! If you're looking to become a member at Eco Gym...run away! Don't do it! I ignored the one star reviews of those having financial issues with this gym and regret that i ignored them. Became a member in 2016 as i was impressed with the boutique feel and how clean it was. Looked and smelled so clean. Every time I went in someone was cleaning, vacuuming etc. Fast forward 2 years... what a stark difference. Now, walking in smells and looks like it hasn't been cleaned for weeks at a time... dirty toilets, sinks, floors, equipment. There was a large hole in the women's locker room that was left without repair for over 6 months. The Plainfield location is basically the armpit of the 3 locations. It gets barely any attention from the owner, Michael Benso. I was a personal training client and this is how you find out how unethical this place is. If you agree to sign up for a certain amount of training, you are signing up for life in their eyes. They will continue to bill your credit card without your knowledge, even if you still have sessions to use. Beginning of 2018, I found out that I had over 100 sessions to use!!!! I made it clear from that point on that i didn't want this to happen again. Well, it has continued.. monthly billing without my consent for PT, even though I had sessions to use still. Had an accident in March 2019. Had them stop billing for PT, which they did. Came back to get my feet wet in Sept. Hopped on a treadmill...they start charging me again monthly for PT without my consent even though i still have sessions to use. Decided to quit this gym due to shady business practices, dirty facilities etc. They owe me 1888.50 for 2019 in unauthorized charges. Have also asked for my money back on 19 unused sessions. As other reviews state, Michael Benso, the owner, when faced with having to right a wrong and pay people back what they are owed...he goes dark. He told me he'd be mailing me a check. Haven't heard from him since. I am now going through my credit card's fraud dept. I thought these people were trustworthy and that i didn't need to check charges from them... WRONG!! It is a nightmare to cancel. I told them the 3rd of the month and not only they charged me that month. They charged me THE NEXT ONE TOO. So it took me 60 days to cancel. For the monthly fee you pay it should be clean and it is not. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

The gym is new and nice. The staff are not. I had a terrible experience with the managers. They talked down to me and stopped returning my phone calls when I inquired about the partial refund of my deposit, I was promised. I had to email the owners and threaten to call the Better Business Bureau for them to finally get back to me (6 Months later). Even then, they were very hard to work with. Additionally, when I involved a third party about the contract dispute Phil the manager broke my privacy and told the third party things that had nothing to do with the contract in an attempt to slander me. I don't know why, maybe to make the third party feel like I was less obligated to the money that I was contractually owed. On the check they sent me they for some reason included the emails between the owner and manager. They called me relentless and they would have to get there money back from me in the summer. No you will not eco gym. No one should have to deal with that terrible customer service. read more

Wow! I just called to inquire if they had a pool since the website provides virtually no useful information....just wants your email to give you the free 7 day trial. You couldn't get me near this place if the woman on the phone is any indication of their "sales" technique. I asked if they had a pool, she said no, I said thank you and she actually asked me "Why do you need a pool?". First thought...none of your d*mn business. I responded that I like to swim. She rapid fires back "What are you trying to achieve". Next thought...I'm trying to achieve getting off the phone with you since you sounds like a rabid dog with a bone. I LOVE eco gym. Everything is so clean and tidy, the machines are up to date and they are always available to use, I am never waiting around for one. The trainers and staff members are super helpful and nice, they help create a great atmosphere of the gym. This gym is clean and well run the staff are very friendly they take the time to learn your name and greet you when you arrive and leave. They've got all of the latest equipment and maintain a clean environment. As a flex member I take advantage of the program and as a result I pay a very low rate each month. The trainers here are great, very knowledgeable and have kept my sessions fun and motivating, special thanks to Magda for getting me on a healthy path. My first 12 sessions with her have yielded me really good results so far. Jimmy, Ryan and the rest of the trainers are always busy training members so it's evident to me that the other members are seeing positive results too, like me they keep coming back for more!
