Horrible! I have been a member of three years. The gym is overcrowded and dirty. The management is checked out and the staff could care less. The club does not have enough bathrooms. The only bathroom on gym floor has been out of service for over 2 weeks! The bathrooms are always filthy even first thing in the morning. A good amount of trainers are out of shape. The trainers blast loud music and take all the weights for their classes. They do not enforce any rules and allow kids to play on the equipment. I can only hope another company comes along. read more

Additionally i understand that the cost of things rise over time. What was around a $50/month membership steadily increased over the years to $55, $60, $65 and the last time i was a member (right before covid) $70 THIS IS THE DISGRACEFUL PART, I looked today JUNE. 27. 2024. to possibly get reactivated -- YOU ARE CHARGING $150 A MONTH !!!! THAT'S RIGHT !!! $150 A MONTH ($5 Per day on average ) For a club that -IS NOT OPEN 24HRS -DOES NOT ALLOW YOU A GUEST EACH VISIT (and actually limits per month how many times a single guest can accompany you) -- The MAIN perk of the gym was the fact it was open 24hrs a day and that is how many people I know justified paying so much money for a gym/health club -- we are now how many dozens of months removed from covid ? YOU STILL DID NOT REOPEN YOUR GYM 24hrs -- Meanwhile a pathetic gym like Planet Fitness is open 24hrs, X-Sport fitness is open 24 hours You should be absolutely ashamed of your disgusting business practices. I'll start off by saying the positives: good amenities, decent facility, class options. But that is also to be the bare minimum expected of a gym that charges $150 PER MONTH! Insane price for a gym that: often has broken/faulty machines, unclean locker rooms, outdated equipment, and simply not enough space for the amount of people that attend. Oh and don't get me started on the basketball courts. The amount of times I've tried to use it only to be told it's reserved for the next 2 hours has been way too many. I really enjoyed my membership pre Covid. After Covid I dropped my membership. They are no longer the 24 hour gym I signed up for. I work late hours and appreciated the over night hours. It was clean. Staff was friendly. I felt secure as I could park up front and would within sight of workers walking to my car. They are expensive compared to other gyms in the area, but they offer many amenities and for the most part only seriously health oriented people will pay that monthly fee. read more

Visiting from NY with my children. I came as a guest of my father. Five of us had an amazing time at the pool. They started temp checks. They operate at half capacity and require masks. Family fun in the sun. Indoor and outdoor pool. Hand sanitizer everywhere. I saw the salon n machines but was content in the pool. Great place. read more

I have been a member at life time fitness for years since 2014 and I use it more during the summer. I was so happy my son was able to take swimming lessons to improve his swimming and my daughter this past summer 2022. Well, I signed up as usual. Unlike other years, I cancelled my membership by placing a hold on my debit. There were additional charges that were denied and I submitted my cancellation. I did not hear back from Life time only through emails to "suspend" my membership. Well, it did and then charged me nearly $300 of fees in addition to the magazine fees. I called in because I was charged a total of that additional fees. The customer service person-Shaba or shala, I don't remember her name answered and she told me...rudely for the third time that I hadn't cancelled. I understand that it is not a membership usage and it is monthly fee. She basically said I got charged extra months for not formally cancelled, when I had called in-in July and told them I was not going to come back as I usually do every summer. It didn't matter, there was no grace to refund me anything from the months they charged extra. I was hung up on by this manager... I decided to come in to speak with someone in hopes of some grace for being a yearly/summer member. I was not heard. Instead, shaba-Shala said pulled out a calculator and started adding up the fees for the membership-months I hadn't attended and the magazine price over $100. She computed all the prices in front of me without giving me any type of support or grace to refund that money. I understand that Life time has a contract to follow, but for the first time in years this was not an issue until now. It would be nice to grant people grace in paying since I had not come into the gym. Again, how would they make any money otherwise. That idea was clearly and loudly communicated to me that day. They value their contract more than doing honest business. I'm in Chicago and I don't know why it says California-Burr Ridge location. read more

Lifetime is now going to profile seniors, all seniors who have Medicare and currently belong to the health club will be put on restrictions of when they are allowed to use the facility. If you want to upgrade your membership to unlimited times it's almost the cost of a regular membership. It is unfair to people like myself who have been a member for over 10 years. It is hard for me to even get a handicapped parking space during the time of the day that would be available. read more

I have a goal. That goal is to be the same weight I was 10 years ago and I plan on attaining that goal by working my buns off, every day. So far, I'm down 6 pounds. The thing is, Romeoville LTF's televisions are broken and they've been that way since last week. There's no sound that I can tune my radio into and the screen is all scrambled with and gets "no satellite signal" messages. Okay, I know I'm spoiled having TV to work out to, but now that I'm used to it, they can't just take it away. I NEED my TV to work out to. Okay, I don't "need" it but why would I work out to my plain old ipod when I could work out to Law and Order: Special Victims Unit? Picture me, pumping the elliptical along with Benson and Stabler, happy as a clam. So, why the upgrade on my last review? Well, they've literally cleaned up their act. Now, when I go to this gym, there are cleaning people galore. Everything is being wiped, waxed, and scrubbed and smells like fresh, clean, fruit loops. I love it and those cleaning people work their asses off at all hours of the night. For that I give the upgrade BUT... I have some demands in order to keep it that way. Romeoville LTF must fix their televisions or for every week they remain broken, I'll have to subtract another star. read more

My last review is a bit outdated and nearly all of my complaints have since been addressed. Good: *They spent (from what I hear) a million dollars adding upgrades and it is absolutely incredible. Usually when they "upgrade" all they do is add a coat of paint here and there or replace a machine or two. This time they went all out and really did a great job. * the sales people have backed off and seem less pushy *dont fall for the "judgmental" gimmick that other gyms try to use to lure in new members. I have been working out for over 20 years at hundreds of different gyms and I have never in my life been to a gym where anyone was anything less than supportive. Lifetime is no exception. Help is there if you want it, otherwise you will be left alone to work out and nobody will "judge" you or other you. Bad: *Some of the lockers could use a little maintenance. There are a few that are just barely holding on by one hinge, or the locking latch is quite loose and about to fall off. * they give out the temporary locker cards like candy and people use those cards to keep a permanent locker to themselves. I wish they would actually open up every locker and clean them out every night like the signs say they do. * the location makes it a bit difficult to access the facility. Because Weber Road has 3 stoplights within a quarter mile of each other, traffic in the afternoon gets backed up a half mile to the north of I55. Its not Lifetime's fault. But is kind of inconvenient. The Ugly: * certain classes have this portable concert speaker and they blast the music on it so loud that i can't even hear my own music in my own headphones at full volume over the class on the other side of the fitness area. Kinda disrespectful to disturb the entire gym to blast music for a class of like 5 or 6 people. I am not exaggerating when I say that they play it so loud that it actually literally vibrates the floor. It seems like these classes tend to be held right in the middle of peak rush hour at the gym and between the crowds and the blasting bad music over the concert speaker it gets so loud that I sometimes just give up and leave. read more

My last gym I was a part of was Lakeshore Athletic Club downtown Chicago and I thought they were pretty good....until I joined LifeTime in Romeoville! I thought long and hard about what I can complain about and came up with nothing. I was about to complain about their fees, but honestly I think it is what keeps the rif raf out, the gym clean, the machines in working order and the BEST staff. If you are looking for O2 training/training for a marathon- definitely see Collette. She is very knowledgeable and will put you on the right path to reach your goals. Debi Tibbles is a an amazing group fitness leader/trainer. I'll pretty much follow her to any class. So far I have done turbo jam, core, and fitness pilates with her and I am pretty sure she can talk me into trying much much more. She is funny, knows her stuff and can motivate you without sounding like a drill instructor. I also love her accent! Giving props to Jenna as well, she's such a sweetheart and truly cares how you are doing. She takes the time to make sure you understand what she is teaching. I took a Team Weightloss class with her and she made the workout fun. I can count on 1 hand how many times I actually had to wait for a machine...and that typically was because it was 5:30 and most people come straight from work. The group classes are great and they change them up all the time, giving a little more variety. They also offer a lot of great educational classes on heart rate training, nurtrition, etc. All in all, I guess you can tell I'm a fan and would recommend. read more

Updating my review. I have decided to leave this gym. The customer service is horrible. The personal trainers will without warning ask you to leave equipment so they can do warm ups in front of it. When I went to the customer relations manager and told her of this, I suggested they use those empty workout rooms for that. She told me that those rooms technically should be locked. I then said "there's an area on the opposite side of the gym for the warm ups. Usually, they have signs on equipment when they will use it for training, the machine I was using had no signs nor did the ones surrounding. I didnt have to give up the machine but I don't need an evil eye for the remainder of my workout. Oh well no worries! I found L.A. fitness. Half the price. Actually saved more than half. My husband found out we were relocating in less than 2 weeks and unfortunately there is no lifetime in the area. After explaining our situation to the Guest Relations team at Romeoville IL location and both CiCi & Amy at the Corporate office all that was said is sorry but there's nothing we can do. After 10+ years of business from my family you'd think they'd consider waving the $66 cancellation fee. My husband and I are disgusted with the way this company handled our situation and will be making it known to all family members and communities as we continue to travel with his job. Great gym and I was interested in signing up after going to the gym twice as a guest. However, I was spammed calls, texts, voicemails, and emails from Erhan. He would call me and after declining instantly he would try again. And again. He did this multiple times until I blocked the number. I just had a baby and going back to the gym was so difficult. I told my husband I needed initiative to go back and feel inspired. This gym is a bit extra and fancy. This gym has a huge swimming area - one area where you can swim laps - an area where mostly kids swim - an outdoor area - and huge hot tub - and saunas - and the menthol steam room! 3 different types of lockers are available mens - womens - and family. Love that this gym is catered to families. Still kind of nervous to bring my baby to the the day care center but that is my mommy issue! But still added my baby girl because at this location its only $10 to add. They do call the parent/guardian if the child will not stop crying after 10 minutes or the diaper needs a change. I love how there are swim classes for all ages! My baby girl enjoyed trying out the splash 101 with Jillian. She got acclimated to the water and doesn't cry or fuss during bath time anymore! She enjoyed watching the bigger kids swim around too! I wish I could invest in personal training sessions, but man it is costly already after the monthly fee! I must say what got me super hooked at this gym was the hip hop class and latin fusion class by Yoni or Miguel. Seriously, I will quit if they ever decide to leave Lifetime! You get your cardio in for the week and you don't feel like you had to exert much effort. Flow Yoga (heated) is another awesome class!!! Wish it was a bit warmer but you will definitely break a sweat in there! Their barre class is not what I was expecting. If you've experienced barre classes at a smaller gym that specializes in barre, do not even attempt to check this class out because its just NOT the same. TCX is crazy! I love it because its resistance training but more of burnouts - with squats and lunges galore! Still need to check out spin classes and maybe an aquatic class! read more

I love that the place doesn't smell of sweat and the equipment is hardly ever out of order, like other places I have worked out at. Horrible experience on 9/24. I was very interested in joining. My father is a member and took me and my 5 year old autistic son to Lifetime to swim and look at the facility. We went at around 1030. When getting the guest pass the gentleman who was checking us in asked what we were planning on doing. We clearly stated we were there to swim. Fast forward 20 min after me and the little guy put our swimming suits on and are ready for a fun time. We find out both the indoor and outdoor pools are only available for ages 12+. To say our little guy was devastated would be an understatement. The fact that the guest service front area didn't put it together to mention that we couldn't swim is careless and unacceptable. At least tell us what time we can swim instead of putting us through getting our suits on to be disappointed. Not a good impression to say the least. read more

I guess if you only care about a single type of workout there are probably places where you can just lift weights, or just swim, or just do yoga, or just do group training, or just play racquet sports, etc.. Or you might prefer a small boutique type of environment where you not only know the owner but all of the other members. And it's possible that those places will be even more luxurious or, on the other end of the spectrum, more bare bones and less expensive. But if you like to everything in one place, where it's a very nice quality, very clean and well maintained, where the employees are friendly and/or where the whole family can find something to love, then I think Life Time is very hard to beat. Beyond the variety of choices and quality of the facility, there is a child care center for young children, a cafe with good food, even a spa/salon. This isn't the low cost gym, but if you like to be active year round I think it's worth making it one of the places to compare as you search for your new athletic club. read more

Overall I'm happy with the amenities and rate, but I find it disgusting they don't provide any disinfecting wipes or solution for the equipment. Even the hole in the wall fitness centers provide a Cleaner. The towels recently are hard as sandpaper and don't smell as nice as they did when I first joined. read more

Romeoville Illinois's club is the worst place for Adults, outdoor pool is like a wild animal Kingdom of kids! Kids 12-15 Allowed in the outdoor hot tub too! Camps let in daily taking over a large part of the area with pack backs, kids lying all over and towels thrown all over! Kathy Johnson the aquatic Manger has no problem with this and it's what she allows at this club! It's horrible to pay $79 a month and not have one small area for adults only, it wouldn't be needed if the pool wasn't like a kids playground, but this is the way they run it. Be warned if you go to this place to "try it out." All my wife and I wanted to do was try out a gym. I feel lifetime has policies and procedures in place to manipulate you into buying a membership and ensuring they make as much money as possible before you can back out. Here are the facts: I signed up for a "try us for free" pass on lifetime's site. We wanted to see what this place was like. We were required to talk to their membership manager for a half hour and were told that the one week free pass advertised online wasn't valid at this location. He said the best way to try them out was for me to sign up for a membership, and I could cancel if not satisfied. He also encouraged me to try a fitness evaluation (not included in my membership) which was $49. I signed up Feb 25, paid for a partial month and the evaluation, then was billed for a full month March 1. By the end of the first week of March, I decided this gym wasn't for me and stopped going. I went back March 31 to cancel and was informed that they required 30 days notice to cancel, I would be billed for April no matter what. He forced me to sign the policy that said I accepted the April charge in order to cancel. I did point out the absurdity to them that when I signed up on Feb 25 to try them out, I would have had to cancel 3 days later to avoid the April charge and there was no way to avoid a March charge when I signed up. They did not agree. When i walked in Feb 25, I intended to use their FREE trial, the result has been that I paid $191.79 to use the gym for ten days and decide it wasn't for me. read more

My guest arrived at the gym before me. Oliver (the employee) working the desk greeted him. The guest informed him he was meeting me at the gym but needed to use the bathroom. He instructed my guest that in order the use the bathroom he had to take off one shoe and hop to the men's room. The guest asked are you serious? He said yes. So my guest hopped to the bathroom and back. I was livid being told this before my arrival. When I approached Oliver about his joke he just laughed. I was shocked at his poor customer service skills to a new guest who would of been a new client of the gym. He refused to apologize. I told someone at the guest services of his actions but I doubt she did anything to reprimand him. She didn't offer an apology either. I also had my daughter's birthday party there. Everything was horrible. No workers, no pizza until the END of the party, & the room was NOT set up at the time. Thank God for Tony & Nate who saved the party. Needles to say as a former employee of the salon, the way guests & employees were treated was inappropriate. I didn't want to associate myself with that. read more

I have been a member of Lifetime for 12 years. I have been back at Romeoville for over a year now and it is still the best of the locations I visit. Clean, neat, friendly and just well run. Other locations get packed to the point it is annoying and you do not want to be there. Based on the time of day that I go this is never a problem. Price has gone up over the years but you get what you pay for. To me it is worth it, I have tried other gyms wile freezing membership here. But they do not compare. I am a fan and it is worth trying out. Like I said this location rocks, very well run. On a side note I have dumped 35 pound and 26 inches since my return. Working out and lifestyle change has produced results. Give it a shot, drop off some fat {no charge} and enjoy! read more

I can give you tons of reasons why you should not work out at this facility, but because I can only type a limited amout of words I will just give you a few reasons on why you should not work out at this location. 1) this location is to over crowed during most of the day and there are not enough machines open. 2) there is to much traffic getting to this location because it is so close to the highway. 3) the staff are not nice and all the sales people care about is making their commission off you. After that they could care less if you loss weight or not. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. 4) This facility is not clean even though that is something they take pride in. 5) there are to many kids at this location and they let them run around all the floors and they will stare at you while you are in the changing room. 6) It is to over priced. That should be reason enough on why you should not go there unless you have so much money that you really don't care. 7) the people working out in that gym are mostly fake with terrible personalities. 8) Their league's are a bunch of crap they throw together so they can over charge you for it. 9) Don't even try to bring a friend because they will just hassle them until they get a membership even if they can not afford it. I'm comparing this club to Schaumburg Lifetime, because that's my only base of comparison. At Romeoville no on puts weights, bars, Dumbbells, mats, actually no one puts anything away! I have yet to catch a worker putting the weights away or say anything to anyone. There is nothing more annoying than that. I also don't appreciate how some personal trainers yell and play music which blares out my noise canceling headphones! As far as equipment. The machines aren't in great shape, seem to be dirty and old. The bars in the bench area are complete garbage, along with the one EZ curl bar they have. 1 star instead of zero because it's the only decent club in the area. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with this place. Let me give you some background. My mother's boss asked me to give her some tips on her swimming technique - she had just started taking lessons and wanted to improve outside of classes. NOTE: I'm just advising her. There is no financial arrangement between us, it's a favor. So, she had a guest pass for this place that she let me use for a week - we were only there three days out of the week. First Day: We get there, I fill out the release form/death waver/whatever, and one of the managers informs us that he NEEDS to take the pass from her. Doesn't explain why, just says he has to keep it. Second Day: This was the best of the three, really. The manager I talked to this time was pretty cool and if I considered joining up at all I'd definitely talk to him again. Third Day (which was today, in fact): The manager from the first day is there and finally says that the pass was expired that first day which is why he had to take it. WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE? Then we get into the pool, and less than five minutes after we get in one of the junior lifeguards approaches us and says "You're not allowed to teach lessons here, it's against company policy." We emphatically tell her that I'm not teaching her - it really was more of a tutoring session than a full on lesson. She walked away, but for the rest of the hour it definitely felt like all of the lifeguards kept eyeing us, which made me really uncomfortable. First of all, in the lane over from ours there was a young woman clearly teaching a small girl how to swim. Why didn't she go over to them and tell her to stop, that her teaching someone how to swim is against policy? Your motto is "the healthy way of life". Well, wouldn't you approve of a member trying to get healthier and improve herself? I did think about eventually joining up but today was the last straw and I'll happily give any other company my business. read more

This review is based on my first two visits. I am a new member of Lifetime Fitness and I'm loving it so far. It is a bit on the pricey side. I only hope our membership doesn't increase with time. But at least it's on a month-to-month basis, just as long as you let them know ahead of time if you plan to stop. My husband signed me up because I want to get in shape. Or maybe he wants me to get in shape.. I love the gym. There is a variety of exercise equipments and exercise classes. They're locker rooms are amazing! You have benches where you can change clothes and private little rooms for shy people like me. :) I like the fact that they do have their own rules: no profanity, no fighting bin other words, no bad behavior is allowed and I think it's awesome. Trevor, the trainer, is great! I recommend him! So, if you're able to squeeze some money each month, go for it. UPDATE: The young lady named Kim at the nursery is wonderful and so patient. My husband and I left our two little boys last evening. Our 2-year-old suddenly began to cry for no reason. He had been here on two prior occasions and never cried during those times. But keeping an eye through a glass window and observing as I always do, I noticed how much Kim tried to cheer him up. She was so sweet. :) The only thing that I wished was organized differently is the Zumba Kids' Class. It's held in the nursery on Saturdays and on that day, the nursery is jammed packed with a lot of children. My son was excited to attend the class and missed out. He's 4 years old, so if he was unaware of the class, he'd miss it. That's exactly what happened. I was under the impression the class was help upstairs, but it wasn't. Would've been nice if that was the case.. :-/ so I'm completely unhappy about that. read more

This review is for the life cafe; not gym. The kids working at the cafe are at times rude and inconsistent with their service. Most often I'm waiting 20 mins for a smoothie! (Yes, for a protein shake.) Why can't the management figure out a better more efficient way to serve their customers?! Management needs to take a serious look into how slow and rude the life cafe service is. It's getting to the point where I don't want to bother spending money there because the wait and service isn't worth it. read more

Definitely the best LTF in the western suburbs right now. This location has the same amenities as every other LTF, but it seems to be the newest facility. It's about 10-15% larger than Warrenville, and at least 30% larger than Orland. They have a great outdoor pool at this location. One of the things I like most about this location is the indoor pool. Some of the other locations (Warrenville and Orland) seem to have issues with pool temperature. This pool is consistent... which is a big deal when you swim 8,000 meters a week. Staff here are really nice, which is a big bonus. Why not 5 stars? The location... Weber Rd and I-55 is a traffic nightmare. Want to get on 55 heading towards the city from here? You'll easily have a 25 minute drive to go one mile to the entrance ramp. Totally serious. The wizards in Romeoville designed Weber Rd so you have to go North out of the club to turn south onto Weber, which is always a traffic clusterf**k. Then it's another 15 minutes to get onto 55. This is not at all the fault of the club or Lifetime corporate, but it's something to remember if you drive to work in the city like I do. Overall, great club, well-run, and clean. Worth the price of membership. Just budget plenty of commuting time. read more

This gym has everything. The only bad part about this gym is that its really expensive. I've been here a couple of times on a visitors pass, but I'm not sure if I want to join yet. Once the monthly bill gets link to my bank account it might be hard for me to discontinue the services. I've written reviews for Warrenville and Burr Ridge locations if you are interested in seeing those. This little write-up is more or less a comparison among the various LTF gyms. For a 'Gold' spec gym, this is by far the nicest one I've been to. It seem to be a newer structure, and benefits from some liberties taken in the design. Here are some of the improvement's I noticed (when compared to Warrneville and Burr Ridge) - Noticeably larger floor plan. I want to say 10~15% larger, it just feels more spacious and comfortable. - LifeCafe eatery is twice the size of the cafe's in the other gyms. - More of the same equipment, also has some new equipment not found in other gyms. - Twin hot tubs have WATERFALLS!!! :D Otherwise it has everything else typical LTFs have, plenty of cardio and weight lifting equipment. Lap, leisure and outdoor pools. Baskeball courts, rock climbing walls and day care center. This is the premium gym chain in the Chicagoland area. If you can afford the monthly $60 fee, there's nowhere else worth going to. I'm going to speculate and say this gym is probably far less crowded than Warrenville and Burr Ridge locations due to its remote location. It's far out in the southwest suburbs. The customer service has been a constant issue. The latest of which we signed the pool papers for other users to bring in children with memberships without parent. This was an ongoing issue at least 4 different visits of signing the same paper. This gets a 3 for the hard working parents that have been there for years. Props to you for dedication. They should allow an area for outdoor food. This place is expensive as is. As long as people are clean about it, it should be allowed. read more
