Disappointing Experience I had never been to Eco Nails before, but I had a gift card and booked an appointment the day before leaving for a cruise. I was really looking forward to a relaxing experience -- but unfortunately, it was a letdown from the start. I had specifically booked a dip manicure and a regular pedicure over the phone. When I arrived, the salon was very busy, and I stood there awkwardly, unsure of where to go, until I finally approached the front desk myself. After confirming my appointment, the receptionist just walked away without giving me any direction. I eventually browsed the polish selection to pass the time and managed to find a seat. I had to ask someone about dip color options. The selection was limited, and the color I actually wanted wasn't available -- not a great start. I waited over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment before someone -- who never introduced herself -- came to get me for a pedicure. Confusion continued when I was told another technician (whose name I never got) would actually be doing my service instead. I then sat for another 20 minutes while the water in the pedicure tub went cold before she finally arrived. The pedicure itself felt rushed and, unfortunately, I had to trim my toenails again just days later. Still, I wouldn't have complained -- except the manicure made things worse. Then came the manicure -- the most frustrating part. I was told I didn't book enough time for a dip manicure, even though that's what I requested when I made the appointment. The technician offered to stay late (in a way that made me feel like I was inconveniencing her), and since we didn't have time to remove my old dip properly AND do a dip manicure, she recommended a "new" method -- I think it was a type of shellac that started with a D. She promised it would last longer and make my nails stronger than dip. That was absolutely not the case. Within a week, the polish started peeling. My nails were weaker than they've ever been. At this point, before my cruise was even over, my nails were chipping and splitting so badly I had to cut them all down. And this whole experience cost $95 before tip. Overall, I was really disappointed. The service felt disorganized, the quality didn't match the price, and my nails were worse off than when I came in. I needed a quick manicure done before we do engagement photos out of town this weekend, and Eco Nails is a 5-minute drive from my house so I chose them. I had called them + one other salon yesterday, and both were closed (it was around 9am), but a few minutes later, Eco Nails called me back and asked if they missed my call, which was impressive, so I scheduled with them. I had a gel manicure done, and also had a previous gel manicure that I needed taken off. I never got the name of my esthetician, unfortunately, but she was great, and did a fabulous job ... I chose a few different colors and it took me a while but eventually settled on a color, and she was patient with me while I did that, too. At the end of the appointment, they give you a "mini massage" of sorts too, on your hands and part of your arm, which was super nice, and they wrap your hand in a warm towel. The only reason they get 4 stars from me and not 5 is that on the phone I was quoted $33 for a gel manicure, and it was actually $38. I mentioned that when I paid for my visit but they didn't really know what I was talking about, unfortunately. I got a gel mani on 11/22 with Dalya. I'm a regular, seeing her every two weeks. The previous mani, she asked if she could change my toe polish while my nail gel soaked off so I said sure. This must have put her behind, because she rushed my mani SO much that she cut up my cuticles and skin so badly they were bleeding and were so painful. They started to take on the look in this picture but not quite as bad and the pain subsided after a few days. The next manicure was the one last week on 11/22 and she took what was already all cut up from the prior manicure and cut and cut and cut (with the cuticle trimmer) until I finally just said STOP with the cuticle trimmer. Nine days later, my nails still look this bad. it's SO painful. Even typing on a keyboard is excruciating. I saw my doctor today who said it looks both bacterial and fungal and prescribed medicine for both. My nails look terrible, I'm in so much pain, and have to pay for doctor appointments and medicine. First place that I've made an appointment and they actually were true to the time :-) message was amazing, I love that the chairs lean all the way back and legs elevate for the message, which puts your spine in a good healthy position!!! This place is extremely clean and professional. They do accept appointments but they will take walk in. My first appointment was good. Everyone was polite and kind. However, my shellac lasted for two days. I was definitely disappointed in that. However, I would give them another try. I appreciate that they have a room that is labeled autoclave which makes me hope that everything is sterile which is important to me so I don't mind paying the extra money as long as it last. What a wonderful experience! My husband made appointments for us to get deluxe pedicures during a day-date. We showed up early and they were able to accommodate us a little before our appointment. I immediately noticed how many polish colors they had available... their collection was even bigger than mine! They had an impressive array of Zoya, OPI and Orly polishes to choose from. I picked two bottles and my tech was cool about honoring my special request (solid base coat, glitter on top). My tech was Gigi, Jacob's was Lily. Both women were friendly, just chatty enough and extremely professional. The massage chairs are incredible! They're very plush, have built-in massage (but it's not jarring like the mall places) and little tables so you can enjoy a drink while getting pampered. Gigi took plenty of care with my feet and legs. The essential oils, lotion and salves they used were refreshing. When it was time for the leg massage, the seats went into a zero-gravity position so you're laying on your back with legs in the air. The 15-minute reflexology massage was to die for. They didn't cut any corners on the massage, either. It was great. When it came time to polish my nails, I do feel Gigi rushed a little bit. She didn't seal the polish at the top of each nail so it looked a little amatuerish. Besides that, they were painted very well. This was a splurge but I'd not hesitate to treat myself at Eco Nails again in the future. Everyone was so friendly, the place was immaculately clean and the pedicure/massage was top-notch. I have to confess to cheating on my regular nail place and trying Eco Nails for the first time today. Now I'm conflicted, because Eco Nails was AMAZING!!!! These are the best pedicure chairs I've ever been in. Innovative design with actual support for your lower legs, and the way they recline is so comforting and relaxing. My gel mani/pedi was reasonably priced and I'm so happy! I really enjoyed the spa-like atmosphere--the music, lighting, essential oils were so soothing. I was impressed with all the measures taken to keep both customers and staff safe during the time of Covid, and that helped me to feel very safe. Eco Nails has many endearing qualities: no nasty chemical smells, an amazing selection of nail colors, long-lasting gel manicures, a commitment to environmentally-friendly practices, relaxing music, and a serene environment. So what's the problem, you ask? The salon delivers hit and miss service, especially when it comes to actual nail care, e.g. proper gel nail polish removal and cuticle care. Some background: I came here for the third time in early May 2017. I made an appointment for all three visits. My regular go-to spots were booked and I needed my nails addressed for a last-minute special event. Before my recent visit, I had prepared to give the salon a 3.5 star rating based on prior service with Helen and Wendy. However, my last visit with Kailyn (Sp?) forced me to downgrade my rating. Some observations: 1. Kailyn was a nice technician and spoke the best English compared to my former technicians, but she was DOWNRIGHT SLOPPY. She rushed through my entire gel manicure. I feel very strongly about fair pay, tipping folks and all that progressive jazz, but her work was so sloppy and careless, I didn't bother with a tip. 2. Kailyn did not properly remove the gel polish from my previous manicure. I wasn't sure of this until AFTER my visit. I noticed left over bits when I still had an opportunity to say something but she went over my nails with the file again and I thought she might have finished her work. She didn't. 3. Kailyn failed to clean underneath my nails and spent no more than 30 seconds pushing back my cuticles on all ten nails. A three-second average per nail: FAIL. 4. With Kailyn, my keratin manicure glove was not removed and my hand was not massaged until after she finished my gel manicure. I didn't mind as this can protect the hands from the UV rays. The problem? The lotion-like substance inside the gloves got underneath my nails and mixed in with the debris, and she never removed it. I had to remove the drying gunk from underneath my nails in my car. 5. When I returned to my car, I noticed that the yellow nail polish I selected ("Never A Dulles Moment" from OPI's D.C. Collection), along with the clear base or top coat she used, had dried on my finger tip, underneath a few nails and some of my cuticles. My left thumb nail also featured a decent-sized air bubble-like bump. I picked it off a few days later and just barely noticed remnants of my previous gel polish (!) 6. The Eco Nails website trumpets the fact that it is English-speaking nail salon as to differentiate the establishment's two locations from typical, mostly Asian-operated nail salons. However, my first two techs did not speak English well. I honestly don't care; I'm only bringing it up because Eco Nails brought it up on its website. My other nail salon, another acrylic-free natural nail place, (Moderna Nails & Spa in Farmington Hills), is staffed by Russian women and the technician I used to see doesn't speak English very well either. BOTTOMLINE: if you're going to brag about being a salon where clients can easily communicate with technicians, make sure you actually have the right to do that. 7. I didn't learn of the loyalty program until after my second visit. This should be mentioned to all patrons. One may wonder, "Why didn't you correct Kailyn?!" and my response is this: I should not have to "baby sit" and coach my own manicure. Getting my nails done is a pampering session. I'm supposed to be relaxing and zoning out. Also, I could not see everything clearly until I stepped out of the salon. I think it's possible to get good service here; you just have to luck out and land a great technician. And it shouldn't be that way. Every nail tech should be able to deliver great service. read more

I give up on this place. It gets worse with each visit. They rush you thru and do the bare minimum. Feet will hardly be soaked when they begin the pedicure and will still have rough spots when they are finished. Toenails will hardly be cut and filed evenly and they spend more time massaging your legs than doing the actual pedicure. The manicure is worse. No soaking, that would be ten minutes they don't want to spend/waste on you, so your cuticles are not softened at all. They grab a bottle, squirt on a liquid, then immediately pretend to push back cuticles, barely even touching your nails, sort of like how you pretend/play a Spa Day with your child, all ten nails, in about 15 seconds flat, which does absolutely nothing at all to actually push back cuticles. They then proceed to cut them all off, too deeply, in a huge rush and cause scabs on your fingers for days afterward. Then they slap paint on like the place is on fire, without even a minute between coats, causing uneven coats, streaks and bubbles, then they rush to the next person. They actually speed walk and make you feel like you have to keep up the pace. Assembly line atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I'm sure the management is well aware of all of this and is OK with it. Dont waste your money. read more

I booked here because I got a gift card but I honestly regret it. Covid procedures are always good in my opinion but the staff is kind of aggressive when telling you like why don't you put a sign instead of yelling at people? Also, I booked a normal mani/pedi said no shellac when asked but was accidentally given shellac and I didn't know the difference during application or I would have corrected her. They charged me for a normal mani pedi and then called 15 mins after I left demanding payment for the extra $17 (which I ended up paying). I work in customer service and understand mistakes happen at the register but I can't imagine calling and making that my customers problem for my mistake I would be fired for doing something like that. Love my mani pedi from EcoNails 2881 W Maple, Troy, Mi. Such a welcoming, calm and soothing environment. Perfect to relax while having your mani or pedi performed. My experience was surprisingly unlike any mani pedi I've ever had in and around Troy/Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills/West Bloomfield/Commerce areas. Eco Nails' professionalism stood out the most to me. They address every costumer by their first name when speaking to other employees (ex, concerning a particular service or loyalty card sign up). This salon is not the typical chatty nail spa. In light of EcoNails' level of professionalism, I will likely be returning. One star off because I wish EcoNails carried ALL non-toxic nail polishes. When I visited, I was under the impression that all their polishes were non toxic, but there was OPI :(. Initially when I came across "EcoNails" spa, I expected everything used to be eco friendly; all non toxic polishes, no chemicals used in foot bath, lotions, scrubs, waxes. I really like this place - I will say that they recently raised their prices so that is a bit annoying but I feel like my polish lasts longer here compared to other nail places. I was paying $16 for a manicure but I think it went up to $18. The ambiance is very nice and spa like and I have been happy with the abilities of every nail person who has done my mani/pedis. The pedicures are relaxing but not as rough and tough as some other places. My feet aren't bad but I know my sister thought it didn't do much for her. She does a lot of walking so she prefers when they get rid of dead skin and all of that. They do lean you back in the chair so you can't see them polish your toes - this can be an annoyance to those who are particular like my sister and I, but relaxing nonetheless. Overall, I think this is a wonderful place. The polish selection is nice. They carry OPI and Zoya among others. Only reason I docked a star is because I don't like the way they display their nail polish. The place is dimly lit are the polishes are almost placed on wall lighting. This makes it hard to see what the color actually looks like. One other thing that I don't like is that they can never find me in their loyalty card system so I am sure I am not getting the points that I deserve for my appointments. read more

I recently tried Eco Nails since I needed a new pedicure place. I was a bit apprehensive since my last pedicure cost me about $190 in medical bills. Eco Nails came highly recommended. It's a busy place and parking seems a bit tight. It's a roomy place with a lot of chairs. Everything seemed really clean. The pedicurist was very nice. She took very good care of my feet and calves. During the pedicure, she pushed the button on my chair to move it back so that I was reclined. I was really able to relax with the massage chair while she worked on my feet. She did a very nice polish job as well. It was like a spa experience without the cost. It's a little more expensive than most pedicure places, but totally worth the extra $5! I'll be back! read more

Wonderful experience!! I was tired of paying $35 for a shellac mani at nearby salons that weren't the best quality, so I decided to give Eco Nails a try after hearing good things. This is a great salon! Organized polished, appointment times are honored and on-time, friendly workers (Kylie is a sweetheart!), clean facilities (there's a visible sterilization room in the back), and an overall spa atmosphere. The relaxing music was great, the soaking water had lemons in it, and the end massage was a GREAT surprise. You get an actual hand and arm massage after your polish is done- loved it! As far as shellac qualify, it's been 4 days and so far it's holding up great. My nail tech applied 2 top coats which I loved since it makes the nail stronger and an even width to hold up. Not to mention, it only cost $30 which is a great deal once you factor in the tip. Went back for a pedicure and they are equally amazing (and cheap- only $29!). The chairs recline almost 180 degrees, wonderful leg massage, and a detailed job. Loved it! You must try Eco Nails! Absolutely fabulous! read more
