They designed and installed the "Epicurious Restaurant" garden in Berkeley, so I had a sense of their work. Their landscape designer, Kathleen Walters was awesome--she listened to what I wanted and nailed the design on the first try--I loved everything about it--dry creek bed, natural stone walking path and bridge and appropriate landscaping, including several Japanese Maple trees. Once approved, we selected plants and then in a couple months DPG crew arrived to rip out my old tired lawn and landscape and install everything, include bolder placement and wiring up and installing a tsukbai fountain, outdoor lighting, and timer irrigation. They also replaced my cracked cement driveway with a beautiful patterned paver layout that complements the landscaping. They were professional and went above and beyond. I cannot recommend them highly enough--I would give them more stars if I could.

I'm actually very happy with the design, which includes rock walls and terracing in front, a flagstone patio in back, Mediterranean plantings, and drip irrigation. I still remember one admiring person telling me that my garden was a real credit to the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a green thumb. The practical upshot of that is despite some weeding efforts out in the yard, I need a little gardening help to keep up. About 3 months ago, Christian from Misty Morning Gardens (the guy who installed my original landscaping) cleaned everything up from top to bottom and recommended that Christine from Idora Design for quarterly maintenance. So last week Christine spent a day in my garden and I was very happy with the results. Besides weeding and trimming, she performed some irrigation repair and timing adjustments, and removed some Palin (rogue) plantings. It's perfect: It's a design we can implement in stages. It's a design that matches my desire for edibles and natives with my wife's for a meadow. We've got areas for trees, we've got a meadow we've got vegetable boxes, we've got flowers. Everything you could want in a backyard garden! It's true, it's all there. Another great thing: Christine every time I have a plant-related question Christine is like sort of of totally willing to answer it. It helps that she's into natives and I'm into natives. So I'm like, what about a vine for over here? And she's like, here's what I recommend. I'm like, what about this mix of flowers for the flower garden? And she says, yeah! Or, try this one. And the other thing is she's totally flexible.
