Right off the highway next to Appleby's and a well lit gas station is this Econolodge. I stopped here late one night after a long day. I had called 20 min earlier to see if they had a vacancy. The desk man was terrific. Both on the phone and when I arrived. Professional. Polite. Efficient. Asked if I was AAA for additional discount. Pretty great. Room is tiny. Much smaller than other Econolodges I've been in. But fine for one person. Tight for two. TV is old style and a little on the fuzzy side, but I got in late so was not watching tv much. Here for longer than 6 hours of sleep it might be annoying. My room was non smoking but I don't think the whole hotel is. They have breakfast service starting at 6 am. Lots of parking pretty well lit.

Cute lizard in family breakfast area.

Horrid rooms. Left 20 Mins after we got there and they refuse to give me a refund.

Popcorn after 3pm, cookie and iced cream at 7pm, all day coffee, a surprisingly really decent breakfast (hot and cold), a large and clean pool and jacuzzi area and a normal sized hotel gym that's clean. Some work being done currently (room and decor updates) but it's still quiet and all of the rooms seem newly updated and very clean, new, the beds and pillows are great, tons of cleaning staff employed here, honestly this hotel sets the bar high and I am thoroughly glad I stayed here

As I previously noted, there's a popcorn machine, warm cookies, free bottled water, fruit, coffee and tea, and candies in the lobby. Every evening from 5-6pm there's a happy hour with beer/wine/liquor as well as a free hot meal item; last night when I was there it was chicken noodle soup and cheese w/ crackers, wonderful for a cold night! Every night at 9pm there's a free ice cream social in the breakfast area. The room was spotless and I love the bath and body works shower toiletries. The TV is a flat screen and it's a nice size. The front desk and the housekeeping staff are very friendly and will always smile and say hello or have a nice day as you pass by, a nice touch. The bed is just as comfortable as I remember and I found myself checking the tags on the bedding and pillows so I can buy them- they are very soft and cozy. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you are in the area, and it is not too far from Conneaut lake area if that's your thing too. There's a decent selection of chain restaurants a few stores/shops to browse.

Hotel was clean and well kept. Water pressure in the shower was strong and hot water available within seconds. Amenities included an above average fitness center with dumbbells up to 50 lbs, multiple treadmills, two elliptical machines, a peloton bike, and a cable pulley tower. There was also an indoor pool and a complimentary breakfast buffet with hot and cold food options, plus light roast and dark roast coffee. If you're in a rush the staff made to-go bags for any guests to take that included a bagel with jam and peanut butter, apple, and bottled water. To my pleasant surprise they also had a nightly social 6-8 pm in the lobby with complimentary adult beverages on ice. The selection was Coors Light, Michelob Ultra, Yuengling, and multiple flavors of seltzers. I've seen this done at other higher end Hilton properties like Embassy Suites but first time seeing it at a Hampton Inn! Would definitely stay here again!

As you can see, this Quality Inn does not value their customers or their feedback. Again, we have stayed at this location 5x or more dating back to 2007 to visit family in Meadville. Our most recent visits were in December of 2019 and November of 2016. The audacity of a manager to accuse us of never having stayed there before and making up lies is just incredible! Instead of taking a review as an opportunity to do better, she basically said we're not welcome back. *** We've stayed at the Quality Inn Meadville many, many times over the years (since 2007). It's never been perfect, but we kept coming back because it was affordable. Well, with all it's problems now, it just isn't worth it anymore. The toilet in our room wouldn't flush. When we told the front desk, they said there was no maintenance person on staff. We left for a few hours and were told later by the manager that she "may have fixed it." We didn't realize until the next morning (after the obvious morning use) that it still didn't work. By that point, it was a major inconvenience to switch rooms. We're tired of settling into a room only to find a problem that can't be fixed without moving. I told the manager that if we had to move again, we'd just go to the Hampton Inn right behind this place because it's newer and has far fewer issues. We also had trouble with the TV, which the manager said was stuck on "internet mode." It wouldn't load anything because their connection was so poor, but the manager did fix it, and we appreciated her help there. Breakfast was the usual powdered-egg setup, but somehow the eggs were extra bad this time. The coffee maker in our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. It still had an old, used coffee pouch in it from who knows when. We only drink decaf, and the packets said they expired nearly three years ago. The lobby smelled awful, like bug spray. At first, we thought it might be paint fumes since there were signs saying painters were coming, but they didn't show up until the next day. Whatever the smell was, it was strong and unpleasant. Next time, we'll most likely be booking the hotel right behind this one instead. But, if we're strapped for cash and need a place to stay, the Quality Inn Meadville is better than nothing. At least we know what we're in for, and we fully understand that "Quality" doesn't mean what they think it means.

The man who let us in acted as though we were inconveniencing him. I was told to make my own breakfast the next morning. Then on most of the other days (I was there several days for business), there was someone there to cook breakfast but she rudely told me that they had noticed I was in too much of a rush to eat breakfast a couple of mornings so they had decided that I wasn't "a breakfast person" and so I wasn't "on her list" and she had nothing for me. Last morning, there were a number of guests having breakfast and it looked as though there was enough food. I ask for some and was grudgingly given the tiniest slice of quiche I have ever seen. (There was more left over.) It was cold as a tomb in my room. There was a little rickety table, but it wouldn't hold my computer and papers, so I ended up working on the bed. Probably all for the best. i needed to stay in bed to keep warm. I've stayed in some pretty dodgy places, much less beautiful than this one, but never have I encountered such coldness and rudeness.

Had we read a review expressing what we and others have experienced, we never would have stayed. The host and hostess are lovely genuine people who enjoy having guests in their home. The breakfast food is good, homecooked and bountiful. Lynell is a great cook and a very sweet lady. Her husband is quite the talker. The back house, where we stayed, is fabulously unique and historical - there is a lot of potential in the hosue and the rooms. But it is just odd. The front house where we had breakfast offers a warm decor at least in the common rooms (did not see any of the bedrooms in that house). Here is the reason we would never stay again and why I am writing this review. We were dropping our child off for their freshman year of college at Allegheny. An emotional time to say the least. The host was quite overbearing at all of our breakfasts, even to the point of being simply insensitive. It was difficult and uncomfortable to enjoy our breakfast with the host literally standing over us talking and making insensitive remarks about parents crying as they dropped their students off at school. As well as making similar attempts of jokes towards the students at the table - my heart went out to the young man at the table who appeared to be seeking a way to run away from the scene. We didn't find it funny nor did the other guests there - it was awkward laughter. In talking with other folks who've stayed there we found they had the same experience. We were surprised the host takes a picture of all who stay there while they're eating breakfast. Sometimes I laugh when I think of what that picture must have looked like - I can imagine a look of surprise and horror on my face when suddenly I look up at a camera flash goes off in my face. Simply put I would never stay there again.
