    Lamp was covered in dust
    William S.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! This is the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel! If I could give less than one star I would! I brought the family to Legoland and we got a room at the Econo Lodge right next to the park. We walked into the room and the place was dirty. Ok, not ideal, but we got a cheap rate ($50 a night) and we just wanted to crash after going to the park. So, I thought to myself as long as the beds are semi-comfortable, the AC worked and I didn't break out the black light, I could look past some issues. So guess what, right off the bat there was an issue; the AC wasn't working! C'mon man! All you fathers out there that have been to an amusement park with kids and bought the over priced food and trinkets and in the heat and humidity of Florida can see past a lot as long as when you get back to the room the AC and TV works!! Right?! So I called the front desk and they said they would call maintenance. I didn't even mention the filth because, again, I just wanted the AC and TV to work! **SIDE NOTE: when you dial the 'front desk' button it goes right to a busy signal, you have to dial 0 and they pick right up! So I waited a half hour and called back and asked the front desk guy where was maintenance? He said someone should be there soon. Oh and he called me 'Boss' ! As in...'don't worry boss, someone should be there soon'...what the hell happened to "Sir", and "sorry for the inconvenience"! Not for nothing but I work with people and "Sir" and "Sorry" go a long way when a customer is inconvenienced. I did not receive either! I called again an hour later and just demanded another room. As soon as I hung up the maintenance guy knocked on the door and he said that he responded as soon as they called. Yah right! So onto the next room...It was filthy but the AC worked! So we were ready to relax and watch some TV... guess again, the TV didn't work! So we go thru calling the front desk again to get maintenance to come up and replace the TV. You can see from the pictures that both rooms were filthy and in need of some serious cleaning! I'm not a very demanding person, but I work hard for my money and expect certain things when I go on vacation. I looked up the hotel in the Better Business Bureau and the grade, not surprisingly, was an 'F' !! I reached out to Econo Lodge via email to let them know about how bad my experience was but didn't get a reply. I just received a 'How was your stay' survey as a response! Typical of a company who doesn't give two sh*ts about you they just want your money! I should say...The only good thing was the complimentary breakfast and the maintenance guys were nice.

Absolute filth. Clearly they don't take much time to clean their rooms. Shower walls were dirty. Sheets had stains. ROACHES WERE EVERYWHERE. Woke up and there was a roach crawling on the bed frame. Disgusting place. I know this is a budget option but even for the budget it's complete filth and not worth it. Don't book this place.

Let's start off by saying, if I could give them less than 1 star I would. And don't let the online photos fool you! I know the saying goes, "don't judge a book by it's cover!" But...this place oh my goodness! When we entered the lobby (myself and 3 children) we were greeted by a repulsive smell, not sure what the smell was, but it definitely did not smell clean inside. Again, I was trying to give them a chance. As we go to get a cart to bring our stuff to the room, we are told by the receptionist that there was no need for the cart as there is no way to wheel the cart to the 3rd floor. So after we grab ALL of our things (in town for a softball tournament) and proceed to walk past the lobby to go to our room we notice a rodent of some sort dead on the ground. Picture included! We start to head to our room and as we are walking down the hall there are people hanging out outside like they live there. We get to our room and as we enter it smells awful, like someone smoked some marijuana in the room before we got there. So we tried spraying something to mask the smell, but it did no good. The toilet was dirty and there was used soap still in the shower. So I try to call the front desk from the room and the phone does not work, I have to use my own phone to call the front desk. I spoke to the receptionist and told her about the room, she says ok I will get you a new room! So my kids and I grab all of our things and walk all the way back to the lobby from the third floor to the elevator and around the building and back to the lobby. We have obviously disturbed her because she quickly hands me our new room keys. We tracked all the way back to the 3rd floor and again people are gathering and drinking and smoking outside their rooms. We make our way to the new room (the photos included are from the 2nd room)! As we enter the room the new rooms doesn't smell like marijuana, but it smells musty. And as you can see by the photos it was disgusting! And with a pandemic, you'd think they'd at least try to clean up. So at this point, I call the front desk and now I am not getting an answer! We booked this through T-Mobile Travel, and I am VERY happy with how they handled the situation! They were very courteous and helpful. So they were like we need them to say that they are ok with (T-Mobile) refunding the money back to me. But of course when they try calling nobody answers. So I gather my kids and belongings (this time putting my things back in my car!) I go into the lobby and ask for a refund where I am told that I have to go through who I booked the hotel with. I was like they tried calling and got no answer and her response was nobody has tried calling as I can clearly hear a phone ringing. I call T-Mobile back as I sat in the lobby and surprise surprise they got an answer. I got my refund and am now staying at The Hampton Inn in Bartow, FL and let me tell you, it was a breath of fresh air (literally) entering the lobby, the receptionist Summer was exceptional and put us in a room on the first floor, and I cried tears of joy when I got in our room and could smell that it was clean and that my kids and I could get a good nights rest. So thank you Hampton Inn. The reason I wanted to give this review is so that people know what kind of establishment Econolodge in Winter Haven is. DO NOT stay there!

Not enough space to fully use the faucet in the bathroom

THE GOOD: - a humongous pool big enough for doing some serious laps. - arcade room for the kids to occupy themselves all day long. - THE BEST part of this hotel, unfortunately, is the free use of Golds Gym across the street. - free parking. - free Wi-Fi. - the beds and bed frames look nice. - nice staff. THE BAD: - The restaurant on the second floor of the hotel is not associated with the hotel. That means you can't charge your meal to your room. - ancient TV technology. - only one lamp in the whole room turned on. - The facet doesn't have enough room for your hands to fully move around. - The bathroom is tiny and needs a lot of remodeling. THE UGLY: - stains all over the carpets. - there were ants in the toilet and a few on the bathroom floor. - all the vents look like they need cleaning. - there is shotty craftsmanship all over this room. The floor tile in the bathroom is old, the tub is very old and needs remodeling, the toilet in the bathroom is like the one you had in high school, the walls need remodeling and repainting. The tiles in the bathroom area are loosely placed, the crown molding in the main room needs to be redone. I definitely don't feel like a million bucks sleeping in this hotel room but for the price, the amenities, and the location right near Legoland it may be worth it for you.

    Roach in room

The only reason I leave one star is because the receptionist were very kind and gave me a refund back BUT the rooms were horrible! Right when me and my two toddlers walked in and turned on the lights there were roaches all over the floor. Never again.

    Moldy ceiling

BEWARE!! If you're thinking about staying here DON'T. Run. Run far away. It's cheap, yes, but spend the extra money and go down the road. On top of the room charges you'll be charged a "resort fee". They charged the card without telling us know. Only found out about it while trying to get a refund when I checked my bank account. Fortunately they did refund us without much hassle. The rooms were absolutely disgusting. The pictures online are deceiving. Sure the room was "updated", but not done well and covered with a layer of filth. Look at the pictures and see for yourself. We walked in and walked out. Wouldn't let our kids touch anything. Just go elsewhere!!

After our horrible experience down the street at Rodeway Inn, the staff of Shergill welcomed me and my family. I was crying from the horrible experience just minutes before entering the hotel. They upgraded our room, and even went above and beyond to make our over night stay more comfortable. The hotel could use some updating, but it was clean, spacious, and our balcony had an amazing view of the pool and legoland!

The hotel needs improvement definitely its old. I didn't see any bugs or mold bed was clean and no bad smell I was impressed with breakfast was amazing and the lady in charged Beverly was very nice and organized and the front desk young girl Megan was very nice and helpful. I'll stay again because it's next door to Legoland. PS I wouldn't pay full price!!!!! AAA give us a great discount!!!

Wish we had the ability to post with negative stars. This place is simply vile. The room is outdated and dirty. Ac vent has mold growing on it. It is chilly out so I turned the heat on, but guess what? That doesn't work. I tried to warm up my leftover dinner only to have the microwave short out and die. Rugs are stained and there is dust and hair everywhere. Ok, so I decided to watch some tv. There is no remote for the TV. The front desk called the maintenance guy 3x and he didn't answer his phone. So I had no tv for my stay. I asked for another room and they said they were booked up. This is a large hotel and the parking lot is 90%empty. They couldn't care less about my stay. I couldn't get into my room because the batteries fell out of the lock. That took 45 minutes for them to repair. Partial refund? Nope. Too bad. I am very leary of these hotels on Expedia. Photos look nice but most are dumps. Stay clear of this place. Next morning I had to pull with both hands as hard as I could to pull out the rotted water control. Then get in the tub and with great force lift the shower nozzle which only came up half way due to corrosion. Barely hot water. I have seen better crack houses (on tv) then this dump. It truly is a living hell.

This was the sign I found discretely placed. The fact we had easy access to the pool and this was not visible upon entry is alarming.

We live north of Orlando and thought we would find someplace cheap to stay right outside of Legoland as their resorts are at least $200 bucks a night and this place was $150 for two nights. The empty parking lot should've been the first sign this was no place to stay. None of the games in the arcade work, they all have out of order signs. We were excited about utilizing the pool and hot tub. We were not warned it was shut down by the health department until I found a sign discretely chained to a rail near their closed bar. It was a bit too late as my son had already dove into the pool. (Hot shower followed). This was the last straw for my low cost stay and we hightailed it out of their to the Holiday Inn two miles up the road.

We recently stayed @ this location & after we returned home I was sent an email asking for feedback. I sent my feedback &have yet to hear from them, however I did write that I would be posting my review on Yelp & TripAdvisor. Family friends were taking a last minute Legoland trip thanks to a great deal they found on Groupon that included passes & a hotel stay. My husband was already scheduled to work some of the days so we decided to meet them there & stay at the same hotel. I had some issues trying to make a reservation because they either didn't answer the phone or put me on hold. When I did get help I asked if they could match the deal our friends had or if they had anything better than the online rate. I was told no. I booked online for "last minute deals" for a Queen poolside for $124 with tax. check in June 30th The hotel practically shares the parking lot with Legoland. You can actually hear the screams from coaster rides from the parking lot. There was ample parking in front because there weren't any cars, lobby was nice, clean and modern. There were a few people milling about with dogs and teens playing games in a tiny little room. Our wait to check in was just a few minutes. The staff was very friendly. I discussed I had read some iffy reviews about smoke &was concerned because our son has asthma. She handed me the key cards &invited me to check the room. I went up to the 4th floor & gave the linens a quick sniff test:). Went back to the lobby & we were quickly checked in. So far so good! Trying to get 4 people with luggage, a small cooler & a stroller in the elevator was our first challenge. Probably didn't help that someone needed to jump on for ice because they didn't have an ice machine on their floor. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave & faced the pool. The screened patio was kind of gross. Cigarette butts everywhere, mismatched broken furniture & some sticky pink mess on the pavement. I gave the patio a quick splash, then got the kids ready for the pool. The front desk provided towels. The pool is huge & has a 12 ft end. A mismatch of patio furniture but ample seating. There were a few others swimming. One family & a couple making out in a shaded corner by the deep end. We stayed at the shallow end. The pool does need some cleaning done. The sides are icky. There is no lifeguard. No flotation devices or any reduce assist devices at poolside. Outside access to a restroom but we didn't use. Appeared they had a lounge but it must be closed now. After a swim & we met our friends for dinner, then we headed back to the hotel. The kids wanted to play in the game room. It was a wreck!!! Toys everywhere, smelled like a bad nursing home, and had crackers smashed in the carpet. A few games were broken but the kids happily cleaned out the change from my purse and played. Again the staff at the front desk was friendly and engaging. Getting the kids ready for bed we had some issues with the faucet in the tub being difficult. Noticed that the bathrooms seemed outdated, some ceiling tiles were damp and moldy in the room and a layer of dust covered most surfaces:( check out was a few hours away and the AC, TV & internet worked great so we went to bed. The next morning my son wasn't feeling well so we stayed in the room while my husband and daughter went for the breakfast. He brought back a bagel and a cup of cereal and milk but apparently he was yelled at by a woman because it is dine in only. We checked out and headed to the park. After a long day at the park our kids were exhausted & a storm was upon us so we decided to forgo the drive home and stay at the hotel again. Our friends called and asked if we could get two rooms again at the rate they had the night before. No deal, but we did get them for $79 each. Grr. Went back to the hotel and checked in. After heading to another room I noticed a musty smell so we cranked the AC, grabbed food and then took the kids for a swim. Again the front desk was amazing. The three ladies we encountered during our stay were so friendly and helpful. This night she provided beach balls for the kids. The kids, parents and a few other guests had a great time. We swam til closing. Took the kids up to the room to get them ready for bed. This room was supposed to be non smoking because "all the new tower rooms are" however this room though slightly different from our last did have the smell of smoke as well as the mold issues or last room had. The next morning we all went down for the breakfast. A some fruits, bagels, toast, little Debbie type cinnamon rolls, coffee, milk and juice, tater tots, waffles, eggs. Think grab and go at a gas station. The eggs were not fresh... Reminded me of the egg liquid the military uses:( no meats & the temp wasn't quite warm enough. Chairs are torn & mismatched, floors sticky, staff was not friendly. This place could be nice if it just had a deep clean! Same candy on the lobby floor for all 3 days! Not worth the $$.

She was kind, efficient, and accommodating, especially since I was traveling with my 72-year-old mother. Jim from maintenance was also outstanding and genuinely cared about solving problems. Unfortunately, our shower dripped nonstop for the entire stay, making it difficult to sleep. Housekeeping entered our room despite our Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. The biggest issue involved our room keys. We had THREE sets that failed. I called ahead and specifically asked the front desk to make and test new keys before we returned because I didn't want to repeatedly drag my elderly mother up and down the elevator. I was assured it would be handled. It wasn't. When we arrived, the keys had been made but not tested. I had to repeatedly advocate for a very simple request. Rather than listening, Deanna and Lilly seemed more interested in repeating scripted apologies and saying, "it was a miscommunication" than actually solving the problem. Eventually, thanks to Jim from maintenance, the issue was resolved. Technology problems happen. What disappointed me was the lack of empathy, active listening, and troubleshooting. Marriott says they "Put People First" and "Pursue Excellence." Unfortunately, that wasn't reflected in our experience. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.

If you arrive after dark the entrance can be a little confusing if you're coming from I-4 don't turn too early and if your driving an extended cab pickup truck the spaces weren't ready designed for you, it's all about how many vehicles they could cram into the space. The room was just okay, the beds and water pressure left a lot to be desired but that isn't something the staff can do anything about so it is what it is. There are choices you can make that will make your stay tolerable, but by all means avoid the breakfast, regardless or not if it's comp'd. The breakfast area it seems was filled with people who were staying one night or had just completed the first night of their extended stay because I don't think too many people would do it twice.
