Incredible hotel. The breakfast options were amazing and we felt safe. I took a solo trip with my toddler and I didn't feel unsafe at all in this location, the staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast buffet was delish, the rooms were very clean and looked updated. This is conveniently located between Legoland and Disney and I think it gives you the best of both worlds because you're close enough to a lot of places but far enough away where you're not dealing with the worst traffic of Orlando. read more

Clean enough, service is friendly, great location. The rooms feel cheap and the set up isn't really functional. Being a king suite I would expect to have be able to sit on the sofa (most uncomfortable) and view the television l. I do like the tub, it is deep enough that taking a bath is soothing and the water is deep enough to submerge your body into. The mattress is comfortable. The WiFi is free, but it is almost non-functioning and if you are here on a work related venture...you will not be able to run your work off the WiFi. I've had better WiFi in 3rd world countries. I would not dissuade anyone from staying here, but I would not throw it out as my first recommendation if asked. read more

These people discriminated against me. I went to check in room was not ready. I asked to sit in lobby and was told no twice.Then asked to speak to manager and they cancelled my reservation because I was confrontational for asking to speak to a manager. They even threatened to call the police twice. I told them I would call corporate and they said they don't care, they are not part of corporate. I am certain it was because I was a minority. There is not much about Bartow that screams 'great stay' EXCEPT this hotel. I was on a business trip and while I'm not from the area at all, the Holiday Inn Express was damn right impressive considering Bartow is probably walking distance to cows. There really is not much to choose from. My room was a great home away from home: the desk with the leather chair, the comfy bed, the lap desk to write on (my favorite!) and even the complimentary cookies at the front desk made me fit right in. The pool was decent, although small and the bathrooms were not outside (don't forget your room key to re-enter). The staff was super sweet. The complimentary breakfast was not so great but how can anyone really gripe over free?! I wouldn't touch the eggs again but all other options were alright. FYI: Long mirror, iron with board, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner with soaps, tv view for both beds, coffee maker and microwave with fridge. Update: 2.4.13 There is a few food options nearby- Checkers, Cvs has alcohol and munchies, Fred's Southern Kitchen, Ruby Tuesday and Dominos. read more

Recently remodeled throughout; light, bright and modern. We had two rooms (two doubles and a queen) both were large and well appointed. Plenty of storage available and a plethora of outlets and USB ports. WiFi was easy to log into and acceptably fast. Nice desk space for those of us that are never really on vacay! AC was very good but noisey as most wall mounted units are. As mentioned in another review, selecting fan always on is your best bet. The bathrooms were clean, brightly lit and had high quality fixtures. Towels were clean, smelled slightly of bleach (win IMHO) and no nasty stains. Small hot breakfast included in room charge. Biscuits & Gravy and hot cake machine were the highlights. Pool located on side of building where the sun never really reached it and smelled of cigarettes (nasty ash trays located on all tables). Parking was plentiful and free. Checkers Hamburgers shares the lot for your late night snacking needs! Overall a very nice stay in Bartow. Cheers! read more

We have stayed at this hotel about once a month for the past 2 years. Two of the front desk staff members are always so rude! There is one very friendly girl who always goes above and beyond, but I cringe when she's not on duty and have to ask for something from one of the others. We've never had any issues in the past with the physical accommodations until today when we checked in and the beds were damp and the room smelled like mold. I immediately let them know. The girl at the front said they would come spray air freshener but would not switch our room, no apology, no other options, no explanation. Had a perfect experience here especially the check in with Linda who greeted me right away and got me checked in in no time. Room was clean (though the AC was completely off so was kind of musty when I went in), free hot buffet breakfast was tasty, and bed was comfortable with a big bathroom and spacious shower. Nice holiday inn hotel. Typical for a Holiday Inn and this class of hotel. Lobby area clean and renovated. My room was typical of this chain although it showed signs of wear and age. Fairly clean room but typical stains on carpet, grime in bathroom on floors in corners, shower head had scale build up. Lots of wall patch and paint repairs noticeable as paint colors for patches in room and bathroom not a great match. Could use a little updating and upgrade in rooms. read more

Ducked in for a night as I had a sales call in Lakeland early the next AM. I didn't have a reservation. They were able to accomodate me. The place is brand new. The A/C worked like a gem. I love the "Fan Always On" setting so I can have some sleep-noise. Awesome, huge bed, very comfy. Firm and soft pillows, and marked as such. Super modern decor. Complimentary serve-yourself breakfast bar with select hot items, fruit, juice, coffee, oatmeal, yogurt and such. Lots of hurricane-out-of-towners here when I was. We stayed one night, June 19 2020. All amenities were closed, they put us across the hall from a bunch of young adults who were coming and going all night long, keeping us awake and making us a little scared to leave the room. The next morning we opened the door to leave and the hallway smelled like a sewer and there were people sleeping in the halls. The girl at the front desk said it was not her fault and no one will let us make a complaint. The breakfast bags had pre-opened oatmeal in them making us throw out our breakfast. A horrible stay and the management does not care. I have photos of the people sleeping in the hallways. We took our business to the Hampton Inn and loved every minute there! Ok, it is a very nice HI Express location. The room was wonderful and everything was in order. The desk staff and the breakfast team were very nice and we enjoyed our stay, there were 2 minor issues. First, they 'upgraded' us to a King Suite because we are IHG members. Well, if they would have told us the upgraded room was in the middle of a block of rooms for a wedding we would have declined. The wedding group came in after the wedding Friday night and brought the party with them until pretty late. I didn't complain because they were enjoying a happy occasion in this difficult time but they gave their neighbors no consideration at all. The other issue was there was no housekeeping done in the room while we were there. After a couple nights I asked the staff to do towels and trash only in our room that day and I felt like I was putting them out seriously. I understand the staff is short handed but if a hotel is not going to provide daily services, they should give the customer at least a small break. Anyway, it is a very nice hotel and looks very well maintained. read more

The air is not working in our room. It is extremely humid and uncomfortable. I called the desk and they said nobody can come look at it until tomorrow morning. I asked if we could switch rooms and first I was told no. Then I was told that we could downgrade to a smaller room that also only has a standup shower (we booked a suite over a month ago) but that I would not be reimbursed for the difference because "as of tonight the other room would book for more than what you paid since you paid an advanced rate." I asked to speak to a manager and was told nobody would be available until Monday. Another smaller issue is that the only plug in the bathroom doesn't work, so I can't get ready in the bathroom. Even if you consider the air and the outlet a fluke, the whole place is just sort of unclean. The floors are kind of grungy and the tub is stained. I'm surprised at the good reviews based on what I have experienced here. Horrible customer service experience. read more

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express - Bartow location for business four nights (2/13/2017 - 2/17/2017). At checkout, while clearing out my room, I spotted a bug crawling on the bed. Quickly I placed the bug in a container to verify its identity. Quick search online and found it to be a BED BUG! I alerted the front desk clerk... she didn't seem at all concerned nor was helpful her mood was rather stagnant. She did comp a two night stay but overall the hassle of potentially bringing this problem to my place of employment and home is not worth it. I was not reassured this problem would be fixed and did not receive a follow up. The manner in which this situation was handled makes me question future stays with the Holiday Inn Chain - IHG group. read more

Although we , admittedly checked in late, our room on the second floor had not been cleaned. We arrived to find wet washcloths and bathmat on bathroom floor. Elevator non-functioning. Oh joy! Carrying luggage up stairs, pricing isn't a value for what you are not getting. Shame. The place is new, very nicely appointed, but seems to be lacking decent management or front desk staff. I was having issues with connecting to the wifi on my phone but I called the tech number in the guest book and they helped me out. I'm disputing what I paid with my bank. My daughter made a reservation for me for the day before Mother's Day, not telling me she was paying for it. I arrived at this dump before they did, checked in and had to pay, which I did. My daughter, son in law and grandkids checked in 2 hours later. Unknown to us, the doors to our rooms did not lock. We went to dinner, leaving everything. unprotected, in the rooms. It wasnt until we went to breakfast that we realized this. The person who checked us in the night before said she told my daughter this. Not true!! I called customer complaints the next day and was told they would give me 200 points for this. When I realized it wasn't done, I called the hotel and Scott, so called manager, said I didnt pay for my room, my daughter did and I wasnt getting anything and hung up on me. I recently filed for a refund with my bank and attempted to get a duplicate receipt from this dump and was called a cun* by this manager!! He also threatened to call the police on me for harassment and threatened a lawsuit! This creep has been paid twice, by his own admission! Watch your card!! read more

Sad my fiancé and I only stayed here for 1 night but it was SO REFRESHING to finally find a 5 star hotel that has a affordable price and free breakfast ! After staying at the pathetic Ramada for days my fiancé and I couldn't handle it anymore and chose Hampton Inn which was the best choice however I wish we stayed in the Hampton in for the week instead of Ramada. The staff was ALWAYS in the front desk 24/7 ! They always greeted us when we arrived and left . The breakfast was FREE , there was a variety of foods and ALL FRESH ! Truly a happy and healthy breakfast bar that includes eggs , muffins , cereal , bagels , apple juice , milk , ham , McMuffins , toasts , coffee , sausage , oatmeal , fruit , etc ! Smart choice is they also have a built in mini store with your needs like snacks to laundry detergent for a affordable price and of course small sizes for your convenience! They do have an amazing clean pool that is usually empty and relaxing , must try . AS FOR THE ROOMS , THEY ARE ENORMOUS and VERY VERY VERY CLEAN !!!! I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A HOUSE SIMILAR TO MY ROOM . The bathroom was huge and NO DIRT IN SIGHT ! It was all white , all clean , and all perfect !!!!! I was very pleased about the decoration and simply how clean and not cold but refreshing everything was ! We also had to get a two bed which we were ok with because it was still so cheap !! Also when we had our daily room maintenance cleaning , the maid left an adorable note explaining why she couldn't clean too much because she did not want to move our personal belongings ! I kept that note and appreciated her respect and her ability to let us be aware of her attempt . She was so sweet and I wish I could have thanked her in person . I'm very dissapointed with the customer service of the management at Holiday Inn Express in Bartow, FL. The manager, Scott S., did nothing to help, and in fact strongly suggested I was lying about the facts. I checked in evening of Friday June 28, 2017. Early Saturday morning, we noticed the air conditioning went out. We tried seeing if there was any way to reset the AC with the control panel, but it remained unresponsive. I called the front desk about 1AM or shortly after, and the desk clerk said he didn't know how long it would be out and his maintainance team had been unresponsive. After verifying we could get a room at the Hampton Inn, Bartow, we decided to leave and packed up. We left sometime close to 2 am. I stopped by the front desk to talk to the clerk, who confirmed he still had no estimate how long power would remain out. I said we were checking out, and I would like him to credit us the night. He said ok, but his computer wasn't responding, could he email a receipt later once he could process the check out? I said sure, and wrote down my contact information for him. When I woke up in the morning, I checked the email receipt -- it showed full charges for the night. I called the Holiday Inn on Saturday morning and was told by the front desk that since we were already checked out, she couldn't do anything about the charges, and to talk with the General Manager Scott S, on Monday morning. I went into the Holiday Inn Express on Monday morning. I spoke with Scott S, the general manager. Scott told me that he was on the phone with the clerk on Saturday morning when I checked out, and the clerk told me we would be charged for one night. The clerk never told me we would be charged for the night. Scott S. told me the clerk's computer was not down, and he had no evidence of a note where I wrote down email, phone, name to be checked out later in the morning. He told me the power was out for only 20 minutes (untrue), and told me he could do nothing about the charges. When I pressed him, he clarified that while he could refund the charges, he was unwilling to. When I said I would dispute the charges with credit card company, he said he would review video footage to show exactly what happened when I spoke with desk clerk early that saturday morning. I asked if we could review the footage now, while I was here, and he declined, unwilling to help. I also contacted Holiday Inn corporate office, who referred me back to the manager, Scott S. Neither the local management nor corporate office were willing to work with me on any sort of resolution. read more

If you don't want to be harassed and treated like garbage then don't stay there. I stayed there a few weeks ago and was told that I couldn't look at a room for a handicap person. The desk person was Lydia who started arguing and told me I was oppressing her and carried on for 20 minutes telling me that Jesus got her that job and started bringing religion into the conversation and everything she was saying was so off the wall and incorrect. I was going to discuss this with her manager the next day Scott Smith who claims to be the GM but decided not to. Today January 15 2020 I spoke with Scott Smith who told me I was lying and he didn't want me to come back there again. He lacks the proper training for himself and the other employees as to how to communicate with quest. I won't ever go there or stay at another Holiday Inn Express. I've been a IHG member since 2008. The CEO of holiday Inn express is Keith Barr which I will make sure he knows what this manager is doing to make customers not want to ever stay with thIs chain. We stayed here for a week in early June and I would definitely stay here again. Everything is clean, modern and well appointed. Our room was spacious and clean, with a decent bar fridge, microwave, big TV with cable and - most importantly during a Florida summer - great air conditioning that you have total control over. Our bathroom was large, with a big mirror, and the shower had strong water pressure. They provided plenty of towels and bathrobes. The Wi-Fi was excellent. The hotel serves a complimentary buffet breakfast every day opposite the lobby with generous amounts of scrambled eggs, toast, coffee, yogurt, juice etc. If you fill up you won't need to eat until dinner. The pool is lovely and we were there during a quiet period so we had the place mostly to ourselves. The location is also ideal, with lots of diners and restaurants within walking distance, including a Checkers right out the front of the hotel. The staff were always polite, but not overbearing. If you're prepared to pay a bit more then this is your best option while staying in Bartow. read more

Its pretty typical for a Holiday Inn express, and Im generally a fan of the chain. But I had to take off a star due to the noticible lack of water pressure in the shower, coupled with the bathroom fan being on the same switch as the light. That combo ensures that every shower is a cold shower. read more

Loved the whole stay. Two different types of pillows to choose for your comfort. The only thing is that there is only ice machines on the first floor. Everything else was great especially the bed. So comfy. I recommend this. read more
