My Suburban 4L60E 4 speed automatic transmission lost 3rd gear and drive and revealed a trouble code . Went to Autozone and was told it was both front wheel speed sensors .. MONEY WASTED !! Took it to Econo Transmission and dropped it off , ( 1st come 1st serve ) Mike Pridgen is the nicest guy you could ever meet , called me in a few hours with diagnostic . It needed a rebuild , and I agree due to high mileage. It was done VERY fast and the price beat everyone in the Wilmington & Coastal area !! Even needed a part that they didn't charge me for .. Yesterday morning 8am (when they open), I called asking when is a good time to drop off my car (cuz it's been having shifting problems.) they said come drop it off in the the morning @8am. "first come first serve" So the next day I dropped it off 8am. 5 hours later I'm asking for updates the man otp said they haven't gotten to it yet and wouldn't answer any of my questions. Literally 30 mins before they close I called again man otp was rude yet again not answering any questions. I get there asked him he said they did a scan and stuff came up but didn't tell me what didn't even tell me anything about my shifting issue didn't reschedule me NO HELP. Courteous, very knowledgeable and honest. For the third time in the past 7 years, Michael Pridgen and his staff have been the consummate professionals. This time, he told me that I probably had a bad torque convertor. I had rented a car, expecting the repair to take a few days,but he called me the same day I brought it in, and told me that they had found two loose plug wires, which is what was causing my car to misfire. They did a professional analysis, put the plug wires in, and now, it runs great! They could have taken me for a lot of money, and, I wouldn't have known, but the total Bill was zero dollars and zero cents. A few years back, they did a trans overhaul from a rebuild from 2016, and, since it was was under warranty, they charged me zero dollars and zero cents, that time, too...no prorating of the warranty! Michael told me that my transmission has a design flaw and "You shouldn't have to pay for that". How could anyone be more fair. Thanks, Michael and staff! read more

Horrible, My girlfriend took her Pt Cruiser to get the o2 sensor fixed. Her car sat literally for 3 weeks as they took their sweet time fixing it. Claiming to be waiting on the part in the mail. They charged her $725.00 for the o2 sensor, $80.00 to install it, $200.00 to set up the sensor computer, and then another random 80.00 charge on top of that. Price gouging is what they tried to do Monday night when they called to give us an estimate of $642 to change a seal on my magnum trans that's a $350 job that now a friend is doing bc of the $ gouging. Our neighbors said he is a good local business owner, ha I don't think so. And he even charged us $55 for just looking at it Omgosh bunch of crap. While traveling for work in my H3 the transmission deciced to quit. 3rd gear only. My first call was to a fellow mechanic that recomened Econo. So I called them. We ageed on a time to bring it in and basic amount. Time it would take. Darryl was ready and did his best to get me out of there in one day. Well he almost made it, he then went to plan B. Stay late and rebuild mine. He got his wife to take me to a hotel for the night, and is picking me up as well. THIS IS SERVICE. Not only is the transmission fixed, but he gave acceptioal Customer service. Thank you for doing all you could to get me back home (Charleston, SC) as soon as humanly possible. I originally had my transmission re-built here and within a few months I had to take it back because it started messing up. After a week I got it back without much explanation of what was wrong. Then 3 weeks later it messes up again. So I take it and they keep it for a week and a half. They never called me with an update and acted like my truck wasn't a priority. Then they had the nerve to charge me $16 for gas because they had to test drive it even though it had 3/4 of a tank when I left it. Then when I got in my truck it was almost on E. The best part is they had broke a piece in the cab of my truck and acted like it wasn't a big deal. Then the owner came out and acted extremely rude even though he admitted to breaking it. If this is how they treat their customers then I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Steer clear of this place. Top of the list for the worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Went here for a simple car problem which was fixed, $300 and a few hours later left with a broken car radio as well courtesy of this company who claimed they weren't responsible. Funny thing is it was working perfectly before I came here. Wouldn't recommend at all. read more
