This place is always packed with vehicles and for good reason. I imagine they have a ton of repeat customers because me and the boyfriend always take both of our cars here for anything we need. He had a really bad day where his car would not start at work (in Scott's Hill!) and they offered to tow for free as long as we would do the work with them. That was the first time we had heard of this place, and were super impressed by the genuine wonderful customer service. Being a repeat customer they gave me 50% off of windshield wipers with my regular inspection, and they always offer to find you the cheapest parts they can. Driving Subarus in Wilmington, you will be hard pressed to find parts that are available and much less as cheap as they can get them. Very timely and informative. We recently took both our car and truck here for inspections. Being new to the area, we were looking for a place to call our regular mechanic in our new home area and these guys are it. The wait for minimal and they were very flexible with appointments. They were honest about what we did or didn't need to do and didn't try to force me into replacing anything on my newer car. Going without my husband, I'll always feel a little anxious as a woman alone at the garage, but they were great. I wasn't pressured into any unnecessary repairs. Have only been there once for a brake job, they kept the vehicle clean, which is a big pet peeve of mine. The receptionist office is the door facing the road, I had a hard time finding it. The brake job was about $150 cheaper than the other bids I got. read more

We had our Honda Accord worked on a couple times here and both times it has been the best service we have ever had done and then some. They would go above and beyond by also replacing a fuse for free and another time going out of their way to find a window at a pick and pull just to save us money! I have had my car here many times and Mike is always friendly and and remembers me when I walk in. I've had sensors replaced, brake lines, inspection, oil changed and transmission flushed. You name it - they can do it - for a very fair price. Honest about what my car needed. I went in asking for an alignment because my car was pulling. He said he would try rotating the tires first and if that didn't work - then he'd do the alignment. It would have been so easy for him to take advantage of me. But he didn't. My car had some water damage from the recent floods, so I had it towed to Vandelay Motors. Their location, "in-house" towing, and towing fee were convenient and they seemed like the right choice. After tinkering around with the car by removing the spark plugs and doing a compression test they concluded that the car must need a new engine. They stated that I must have sucked some water into the engine and it probably wasn't worth any further investigation and quoted me at about $2000. I decided to get a second opinion before investing over $2000. Turns out the car just needed a diagnostic, air filter, and oil change, a little under $300!! I'm glad I invested more time to "further investigate" instead of investing my money into a new engine. If it weren't for Vandelay Motors kindly refunding all my money and offering an oil change in the future, I would have given 1 star. However, I still wouldn't recommend going to this mechanic. If you do, get a second opinion. read more
