I thought there was only so far a company could stick their collective head up their own a$$....but this company proved me wrong. They were a half hour late for a pick up to bring my family to the airport. This seems to be the M.O. for them judging by the previous review. This time, however, it was for a 6:00AM pick up. NO TRAFFIC EXCUSES. They didnt even bother alert us the driver would be late. We called at 6:05 and the dispatcher just said "oh yeah. he should be there in 20 mimutes or so." Are you serious!? When he finally did arrive it was the same thing...the cab STUNK of cigarettes and there was trash all over the cab. The guy said he lived in cranston and then asked how to get back to Pontiac...the road he JUST turned off of. We had this company for the pick up FROM the airport when we arrived home from our trip. We called to confirm that we had a van again for the pick up since there were 6 of us...again. Now...one would assume they'd make sure to get it right since they failed so horribly the first time, right? Nope. Another "Is this my a$$hole or my elbow" move. They sent ONE, 1, O.N.E taxi sedan to pick up SIX PEOPLE AND LUGGAGE EVEN AFTER CONFIRMING A VAN ONLY HOURS EARLIER. Sent that guy on his merry way and used the taxi service at TF Green instead. This company not only lost a private customer but also a corporate one as well. Nice going. Hope this business model works out for you guys! Do NOT trust Economy to arrive in a timely fashion for a scheduled pickup. They showed up 30 minutes late to get me (en route to the airport). I called after waiting 15 minutes and was told "he is coming from downtown and traffic is always bad at this time of day" from the surly, unfriendly dispatcher. If that's the case, shouldn't they have taken that into account when scheduling a pickup?? Apparently not. The car that finally picked me up was very dirty and reeked of old cigarette smoke - and somehow I ended up with the only cabbie who obeyed all traffic laws! Luckily, I made my flight, despite the 30-minute delay having put me into evening rush hour. read more

My preferred cab service in Providence. As a telephone operator, it's essential to have a cab service I can rely on and recommend to those I'm assisting and Economy is it! They are warm, friendly, and accommodating. Their drivers can be quite a hoot too (and polite-- they don't flagrantly hit on you like some other companies' drivers -___- ). The only trouble is sometimes the wait is a little long but this can generally be avoided by reserving a cab ahead of time. Request that they take your number and they'll usually give you a call when they arrive-- which is especially helpful in inclement weather. read more

I am here to redeem the quality of service of Economy Cab. I took a cab today and they were promptly at the door to pick me up. That was amazing. And then I called them again- that's when things went south. The lady dispatcher told me that they would be there in 10 minutes. I called back 20 minutes later, she was adamant about the ten minutes and made me feel like I was being impatient. So I ended up waiting for 35 minutes. I complained to the driver, who happened to be the same driver that picked me up earlier this morning. And let's just say that they have a problem with the lady dispatcher. Doesn't she realize that she IS the image of the company and her attitude just doesn't cut it. Their service, driving wise, is great by me. The next time you want to hire a cab, make sure you call an hour in advance or a day in advance if you know when you're leaving the next day. :-) My driver's name was Kenya! She was great. read more

It's very easy to call and make reservations with Economy Cab. The only problem: they don't actually show up. I've made reservations with Economy Cab on multiple occasions in which the dispatcher confirmed a time and address, and the cab simply did not arrive when it was supposed to. Several times when I called back, I was told the cab was en route and should be arriving any minute. One time, it was about 25 minutes late. Another time, 20 minutes after my scheduled time and after being told the cab was en route, I called back to find out that actually no cab was on the way; they had overbooked and would be at least an additional 20-30 minutes (so a total delay of 40-50 minutes or more). The dispatcher apologized, but I don't understand why earlier they had told me a cab was coming when clearly there was no cab en route. Also, they should have called me to say the cab was not coming for a long time, rather than relying on me to keep calling them. I had used this company since it was the one I had heard of in the area. However, after these experiences, I never plan on taking this cab company again, and would warn others to stay away from it. Take an Uber instead, or call Checker Cab. read more

So I needed a cab for 4 people/clients - a van essentially - to get them to the train station to make their trains. I made arrangements with Economy Cab two hours ahead of time. Fifteen minutes past pickup time they still hadn't arrived. I called them and they told me they only have one van and it was on a job. I asked why they would make an appointment with me if they were going to send it someplace else. The woman said in her best BS sympathetic voice "Oh gee sir we're very sorry - we'll get them there as soon as posisble." I should have known. After another 15 minutes I crammed them in my car and drove them myself. I guess it is "economy" cab because I saved myself $20-30. What's ironic is this place will probably be at the forefront arguing that Uber is taking their business away. And yet they won't be able to understand why. read more

Unfortunately I could not find another company that assisted individuals who are in wheel chairs. Made appointment for 1:30pm to 4:30pm for my sister in law to visit. Cab showed up at 3pm, said he would be back for 5:30pm. It is now 7:25pm and still not here. How can you set an appointment and keep getter my bumped, from what the driver is telling me. How you can do this to someone who is disabled is beyond me. My house does not have a handicap accessible bathroom and what they are doing is such a shame. Highly recommend renting a van in the future instead of going with this company. read more

We've used their service for about 15 years for trips to airport from Cranston & from time to time when one of our cars is in for repair. They are always on time, polite, know the area & prices are comparable to other taxi services. I've used 3 other companies & Economy is by far the best. read more

I called for a cab to take me to the airport but was told, "We can't pick up in West Warwick." Are they serious!!! They drop off at the airport but can't go 20 minutes past to pick up a fare. There is plenty of competition out there. They should rethink their route! read more

I will never use Economy! They have stranded me more than once. I called for a 11:30 PM pickup and by 12:30 am was still waiting! I tried to call the dispatcher and kept getting voicemail. They never came at all! I called Corporate Taxi at about 1AM and they picked me up in 10 minutes. Your best bet - call Corporate Taxi - much better results. read more

Avoid at all costs. My experience is nearly identical to the other reviews here. Just absurdly bad. I confirmed a cab to go to the airport 4 hours before my pickup. At 2 minutes before my pickup time I saw I had missed a call from them 3 minutes earlier. The voice mail says "I need to know if your address there in Smithfield is Road or Drive or what. Call me back." I call back and say "if you put this in a gps you'll know there is only one MacArthur in Smithfield - you don't need to know the rest, though I clearly stated 'drive' when I reserved." He says he is now going to call the drive and tell him and he'll be on his way to me and will arrive within 10 minutes. 25 minutes later I call and ask where my car is as I'm now in danger of missing my flight. He says "well then why didn't you answer when I called the first time?" What the @$%%? I said "you called me 5 minutes before pickup - how did that have anything to do with you now being 20 minutes late? Car finally arrived 25 minutes late. I asked the driver to explain why he was late and he says "I was about to come for you when dispatch called and told me to hold on while he confirmed the address with you." When I ask about the "confusion" about my street name he says "no confusion. As soon as I put in the first few letters of your street name it came up as the only one in Smithfield." I said "your dispatch then lied to both of us" and he defends the dispatcher. What a bunch of ridiculously unprofessional behavior. Oh, last thing - their name, "Economy..." is a fallacy. The cost was the same as when I use yellow cab to the airport and when I use Airport taxi from the airport to home. No savings - no economy. Don't use these clowns - they are horribly inept and unprofessional. read more

I called for a cab pick up 3 hours before I needed it. They showed up 15 min late. When I called for return service, they said it would be 30-40 min. I said ok. When I called back 50 min later, the dispatcher said he told me they had no one available for pickup. Needless to say, you should use someone else. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Do not use this company if you need to get somewhere on time. They kept me waiting for 15 minutes (I had a train to catch) and the idiot lady at the dispatch didn't apologize or seem to give a rat's butt about her company's failings and hung up on me! If you use their wheelchair taxi service, be very careful to wheel your chair to the front of the taxi to look at the meter AFTER the driver releases the wheelchair restraints and wheels you out. This is because they keep the meter running while your chair is being unfastened, so what you see on the meter while you're in the van is not the final fare! If you don't wheel around to see the final reading on the meter, you may be overcharged, as I was. Also, ask for a receipt. I had very bad experience when traveling with my father who is in a wheelchair. The driver charged us more than what was on the meter. I verified this by calling the company and having them look at the records. They called it a "misunderstanding" but I know what we were charged, and it was $3 more than what was on their books. Plus, I gave a tip (I didn't realize I was overcharged at the time--maybe that explains why the driver tried to give me the tip back--feigned guilt?). That driver should be ashamed. The wheelchair service itself was great. The driver was prompt and the vehicle was new and comfortable. However, I will be utilizing the other taxi companies who run wheelchair taxi services from now on. Hopefully they are more ethical. read more

I called a cab last night and arranged for an 8 am pick up . They called me this morning saying that their only car in the area was in use until 8:30. I reluctantly said okay . At 8:45 they still had not arrived and I called them and they tried to explain why they were late . I expressed to them I made the 8 am pick up because I had class all day. This taxi service really screwed up my day as I was not able to go pay to get my car out of a local garage . If you want reliable service do not use this company .
