Rating this business was a bit difficult. If you don't mind having limited access to your storage…read moreunit, then it's a decent place to store your stuff. On the other hand, if you need or want access to your possessions after typical business hours, then it's not such a great option - hence, the reason for averaging my 3-star rating. A couple years ago, I needed a place to store my motorcycle for the winter, since the house I had recently bought lacked a garage or shed. I paid $75 a month for a 5'x10' unit, which seemed to be an average price. The unit had direct access to the outside, and a low enough curb that I could drive my motorcycle right in. Unlike some other storage facilities, once the office closes, the gate closes, and is locked, and you have no access to your unit. They do not have an automated gate where you can punch in a code and gain access to your unit. The office closes at 4:30 p.m. most weekdays (7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays), as well as Saturday. And, it closes at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. As I said, this is not a big deal if you are storing stuff long-term and don't need unlimited access to it. It would also be fine if you are only storing a motorcycle there for the winter. But ... if, like me, you are forced to store a motorcycle all year, storing it here REALLY puts a damper on riding time. There were a few times that the wife and I would go for a Sunday ride, and I would park my truck outside the gate so my truck wouldn't get locked in if we didn't make it back to the storage unit before they closed at 4 p.m. As a result, I didn't ride my motorcycle as much as I would have liked in the approximately two years I stored it here. Although the units are set back off the main road, and partially obscured by some woods, I never had a problem with security here. Also never had a problem with water or animal infiltration. Thankfully, paying $75 a month was good motivation for me to build a shed to store my motorcycle, which I completed to a state close enough for me to move my motorcycle into last fall.

I'm giving extra space one star because of price and security…read more Over the course of 2-3 years I went from paying $750 to paying $975 for my storage unit with no explanation why. After asking folks around me, each person was paying a different price starting around $850. It seems like Extraspace would keep raising rates to figure out what the market would pay, not because their costs were going up. I was on autopay, never late paying, and was rarely there. The other issue is that I was paying for a gate secured storage unit but more times than not I would show up and the gate would be wide open. I have also seen numerous people who didn't have storage units inside the gate, not secure if you ask me. The other issue is they did not have generator backup so if they lost power, you could not get into your storage unit. It happened twice and no outreach or reimbursement was offered. The employees were fine, I would never do business here, go find a locally owned facility so your aren't paying for the corporate greed.

I checked a few different places but knew I found "the one" after speaking with Lori and Brian. Both of them answered my (many) questions and took the time to explain the different options I could consider. I reserved a unit remotely and hoped everything would fall into place when I returned to RI to move my items. When I got to town and finally had a chance to visit the facility, I was impressed by the security, cleanliness, and overall operation. I had a chance to meet Lori and Brian, and both were just as amazingly helpful in person as they were on the phone! If you're looking for a storage facility, look no further! Take it from me, this is the best one around!

What should have been a simple one-mile move turned into a stressful, expensive, and poorly managed ordeal. The crew arrived roughly four hours late after a last-minute crew replacement, I nearly missed my flight because of the delay, my furniture was left partially assembled, my instructions were ignored, and the apartment was left in complete disarray despite paying a premium price. To start with a positive, scheduling the appointment was easy, and both the dispatcher and moving crew were polite. Unfortunately, that was where the positive experience ended. When I booked the move, I made it very clear that I needed to leave for the airport at 7:00 PM. I was assured the crew would arrive between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM and that the move would take no more than three hours. I had already moved approximately 50% of the apartment myself, leaving only the larger items that required professional movers. Throughout the day, I repeatedly called dispatch because I needed to reserve the loading bay and elevator in my building to make the move as efficient as possible. During one of those calls, I learned that the original crew assigned to my move was not going to make it. Dispatch switched crews and sent a replacement team, but they did not arrive until around 4:00 PM. To make the move easier and faster, I had already disassembled one of my beds. When I mentioned this beforehand, I was told that everything was fine and that it would help speed up the move. At no point was I informed that they would refuse to reassemble furniture disassembled by the customer. Because of the delay, I had to leave for the airport to avoid missing my flight. I arranged for a building guard to stay behind, supervise the move, and assist with any issues. I also clearly instructed the crew where furniture and boxes should be placed and told them to call or text if they needed clarification. Instead, I returned to find the apartment left in complete disarray. One bed was assembled, but the other was left disassembled. Only afterward was I told over the phone that they would not reassemble it because they had not been the ones to take it apart. Had this policy been communicated beforehand, I could have planned accordingly. The crew also left dressers, storage cubes, and other furniture scattered throughout the living room rather than placing them where requested. I specifically instructed them that if certain boxes could not fit in their intended locations, they could leave them in the kitchen. Instead, everything was simply unloaded into the living room with little effort made to organize or place items as directed. I have attached photos showing the condition in which the apartment was left. To make matters worse, the final price was significantly higher than expected, especially considering the delays, incomplete work, and lack of communication. Between the missed arrival window, last-minute crew replacement, poor communication, failure to follow instructions, incomplete assembly work, and excessive cost, this was easily the worst moving experience and one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. Edit: Calling the number provided in the business review is not helpful as I was in a 25 minute queue with no answer. On top of that they do not want to respond to the email I sent them in hopes of resolving the issue.
