I would not use this company again. We were scheduled for 3 guy's, they sent 2 and a guy who was working his first shift ever. He was so out of shape that he was gassed in the first three hours. He stood and watched the guy in the truck pack the truck. Training is not supposed to happen on the job if a client is paying for you as a worker. I'm 57 years old and I had more hustle in me than this young guy. Half way through the move they sent another guy to help out and keep the cost of 3 guys but he had smoked-up and also ran out of energy before the job was done. My boxes were all labeled and they piled them up in the living room. I had to ask them to bring them to the kitchen etc. They wanted me to pay before they were even finished. There's more to write, I just don't want to relive it. Not once did anyone act with urgency, I moved the entire storage unit myself. If I would have relied on the movers it would have cost me two more hours. The trainee scratched my kitchen table, I brought it to the lead movers attention, it did not factor into reducing the cost. If I damaged a clients property I would expect to be charged, no consideration was given when we paid the bill. read more

A Cautionary TALE Do not use any Service Organization in Rhode Island because the Attorney General does not protect consumers. In August 2016 J&M Moving of North Providence Rhode Island moved all my belongings from Natick MA into storage. I moved to a furnished condo in South Carolina and in February 2017 I called J&M to bring my furniture to South Carolina. In March a load arrived although the carrier had no help, and I had to hire someone to help him move my belongings. Much of my furniture was missing. I called J&M. They sent another load 6 weeks later and indicated that a top had come off a container with much of my fine china a crystal. I was never told this although I was present for the entire move. J& M arranged for another carrier to ship my fine goods. They arrived IN A CARDBOARD BOX even though I had packed everything carefully in a hard sided enclosure. Pictures of my broken items are shown later. Much of what was broken was priceless 19th century china. J&M paid a china claim but I believe it was because they put in a claim against the other carrier. I was still missing half of an oak vanity and a large container of horseback riding gear worth a great deal of money. J&M do not answer my phone calls or respond to my requests. The attorney general's office in Rhode Island has not responded to my complaints. I received a short email saying they did not know whose jurisdiction this falls under and were investigating this. read more

They were able to get me the hands needed on a 2 week notice around Memorial Day, also worh mentioning it was a move from NH to MA, over an hour drive. The crew showed up on time. They were respectul of our homes and belongings, and they were rock stars to our kids, treated them very well while also working diligently to ensure their safety around so much commotion. We had some unanticipated requests when it came to what would need to be taken apart and put back together. That said the final price came in LOWER than the next closest QUOTE I'd got when calling around. No damage to our home or belongings, polite and respectful, they worked their butts off and didnt even charge me for the extra person on the job. They agreed to come and help me outside of their normal business hours, arrived on time, handled the job professionally and efficiently, and charged a reasonable rate. My Mom had sold her house in Johnston and I was waiting to book a move until I KNEW the house was sold and the people weren't going to back out or anything. I had contacted Big Mike and he kept saying he'd get back to me, but a week went by and I couldn't get him to confirm the date I needed - so now it was 5 DAYS before the closing, as it had been moved up! I contacted John from J & M, having seen the good reviews on Yelp. He took my call while on the road, pulled over to gather details, and was able to give me a price on the spot. He'd entered all of the items I had to have moved and was able to email the list right back with the price quote about 5 minutes after we got off the phone. Wow, what a difference in service from the start. What I got were 3 guys - Darnell (sp?), John, & Josh, who were not only really, really nice but treated my Mom's stuff so well that I was impressed. They wrapped every piece of furniture in padded blankets secured with tape and even taped the tops of boxes that my Mom had filled to overflowing (she's 81), so nothing would fall out. They filled a 24-foot truck and moved it from Johnston to Wakefield, where they unloaded it into a 20x10 storage garage. When all was said & done, in calling the company to process Mom's payment, they said they were done early, so the bill would reflect that, and Mom saved over $100 from the initial quote. So obviously I have nothing but good things to say about John & his company. Their team of guys were incredible and took the time to assist me with a very difficult project of packing and moving my mother's large four bedroom home. There were several items of extreme value that were removed without incident and or damage. They are very organized and patient with the difficult jobs. They are a pleasure to work with and very helpful in every way. All of the most valuable pieces came to their next location without any damage or incident. Unlike other movers, the walls and door jams were not damaged because of sloppiness and rushing the job. Both John and Julio are very respectful, even tempered and keep everyone on track to make sure the move runs smoothly. So, let me first say two of my three movers were nice guys. The third was on his phone more than he actually worked. The completed my move in a pretty unprofessional manner. They showed up late, took lots of smoke breaks and generally made me feel as though I wasn't really getting fair treatment. I had a heavy couch that needed to go up several flights of stairs and they damaged every single wall on the way up. I'm not talking little scuffs, I'm talking gouges. See the pictures I'm posting with this review. As for what they did to my furniture. There were very few pieces that made it through the move without damage. Nothing truly major, but scuffs and dings that just make the furniture look older than it is. When I complained to Josh and John they offered to refund 30 percent of my total costs yet never sent any money. They both acknowledged that the job was done poorly and were eager to make it right, unfortunately they never did. read more

J&M Movers did a fantastic job with my move. Everything was cared for as if it was their own household. Everything from small bedside tables to larger items were professionally wrapped the packed into the truck in a way everything was kept safe. They even brought cardboard to support the TVs on the outside of the thick moving blankets as added security. I could not be more happy with the level of service I received! Used these guys for a LABOR-ONLY move: 2 bedroom moved into a PODS container, on site. The two gentlemen assigned to it (John and Josh, if my memory serves?) were solid. They were on time, polite, efficient and good guys-- I talked with them a bit. If you're moving from RI, use a RI-moving company. Ones is MA will charge you extra for fuel, and from the time they leave their city. I picked JM moving based mostly on these Yelp reviews, and they were right on. Stayed in constant contact with me the whole time and accommodated my needs. There were only 2 guys and catered to my needs as well and where I wanted everything. I had alot of heavy furniture and the furniture was big too! My new house has low ceilings due to it being an old house that's over 100 years old. It's took the guys 6 hours because there was only 2 of them. They charge the customer for gas which was crazy seeing as their rate was $99 an hour I payed $644. Absolutely horrendous experience! DO NOT USE. J&M is the most unprofessional business I've ever worked with. Im not really sure how they're still in business. I've been waiting quite a bit of time to post this review, giving the owner ample time make things right, but he has done nothing! Completely unprofessional. We used J&M to move from our home, to their storage, then to a temporary apartment while waiting for our new build to be completed. Upon receiving our items, we immediately noticed our belongings were severely damaged! Sure, we expected perhaps a few broken dishes or glasses, but they created thousands of dollars worth of damage! Not only were MANY dishes broken but several pieces of high end furniture completely DESTROYED as well as water damage to linens and family portraits. Bonus: they even tried to deliver us a flat screen TV that wasn't ours! The movers saw the damage as they unpacked, they noticed how upset we were and reassured us J&M would "make things right", but that never happened. I regret using this company. They came unprepared, left early and unfinished, and didn't show common sense in packing, resulting in breaking some expensive items. For example, there was one item that was already in a flat box because it needed to remain flat. They folded it in half (which must have taken some effort), cracking it in half in the process, and threw it in a bigger box. Glassware was just put in a box without any protection so of course it was broken by the time I unpacked. read more

I cannot say enough about these guys. From the initial estimate, to the final delivery everything was five stars. I actually paid less then the initial estimate. I had them pack a 3000 sq ft house I had been living in for 28 years. My regret is that I didn't rope off areas for them not to pack- the crew of 5 swooped in and packed everything so professionally the only item that "broke" in the transit was a cheap plate that I actually believed had cracks in it. I wish I could leave more than 5 star review! Curtis & Chris were the most amazing movers. They constantly checked in on me (I was quite anxious about our move) and were incredible packers! We could not figure out how they got all our things so safely in our little rental truck. The office ladies (Briana & Marie) were very responsive. I recently had J&M move me from MA to RI. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with their results. I found the owner John to be very professional, up front, and easy to work with. He gave me a very competitive quote, as I shopped around a bit, and after meeting him he seemed honest and trust worthy, so I decided to go with his company. His crew was excellent. They showed up on time, were very polite and respectful, and didn't cut any corners. All of my furniture was wrapped and protected, and they were very efficient. I was initially concerned about the move, as my furniture was fairly new, but after seeing their careful approach I was quickly put at ease and could focus on the move. The operations manager, John, was also excellent. Everything got to my new house without a scratch. I used J&M moving this past June to move my small one bedroom apartment. I was not overly impressed. They spent the first 45 minutes trying to park the truck. I have a driveway I thought the truck could back into but the truck was too large. My apartment was in Providence on a busy street where I could not reserve a parking spot. I was charged for this time. I suppose this is my fault for not requesting a smaller truck but it's still incredibly annoying and was expensive. The driver was really frustrated and the two men were swearing at each other which was very awkward. The movers did a great job loading the truck. They took care with my things which is why I'm giving 2 stars. They took a break after loading the truck and then drove to my new place 15 minutes away. They both came back super high, which I don't mind but it definitely made them slow down. They kept taking long breaks to talk in the truck and I even caught one of the movers messing around with the lawn mower (no clue why). We ended up helping them move the rest of the furniture because they were taking so long. The total price was a little over $600 plus a tip for the movers. I'm not a penny pincher but I was quoted around $400 and was not pleased it costed this much, plus myself and two friends had to help them. At least my things arrived in good condition. read more

I entrusted John Morales and his company to safeguard my household and personal belongings as well as irreplaceable family photos while I was to be deployed. Upon my return, I paid John and his company; fulfilled my end of the bargain. Now I am chasing a ghost. After months of emails and phone calls to retrieve my belongings. Nothing. No goods delivered nor seen. Even after John had finally confirmed a date of 17 October 2019 for retrieval. No one showed up at the so-called warehouse in Woonsocket, RI. No phone calls replied nor returned after several attempts. So, I had no choice. I filed a complaint with the BBB and fraud with my credit card company. Moving forward with legal proceedings. Had a terrific experience with J&M moving! I called to get two movers last minute on June 1st - always a crazy busy day for moving companies - and the gentleman on the phone went out of his way to squeeze me in. I previously called at least 8 other companies and they either had no space or quoted me an outrageous amount, so we thought we were straight out of luck. J&M sent two guys out right away and gave me a quote way lower than their competitors. Josh and John were both wonderful! It was a very hot day and we were moving to a third-floor unit. Regardless, they were so fast and positive throughout. They went the extra mile to bring up a couch that definitely was not going to fit; they removed the door hinge and stair banister and made it happen for us. Plus, when we were approaching our requested two-hour time mark, they warned us so that we wouldn't exceed the amount we wanted to spend if we wanted to finish up the small things on our own.
