I rarely give reviews but have to WARN YOU away from Ecoshield. Their salesmen are slick and will pretend to offer you a discount when in reality they are charging twice the going rate for pest services. The treatment did not work at our single family property, there were still ants everywhere around the perimeter of the house. They also flat out lied about what they cover. After I spoke to a competitor with cheaper and more comprehensive services that included the lawn and yard, The salesperson, Sasha, said Ecoshield would reduce its price AND treat the whole yard at the next visit. A day later her colleague had to call back and admitted that they DONT do yard service. After they came clean to that outright lie, I called and canceled the service. Two days later, while we were not at home, they came and did the follow up service and charged us again for their worthless service. Stay away from Ecoshield! read more

I have been with Ecoshield from 5/20/22 - Today 5/31/24 I tried to cancel my contract. I sent them an email - it was deleted without being opened. I called and spoke to a lady and she put me through to a different department. I then had to have a call back - same - pass to another department. She kept offering discounts - I was not interested. She stated that it is cancelled and I will receive an email within 30 min -0 that was 2 hours ago. She also said that my customer portal will show that it is cancelled. I have logged in a number of times and still active. At wits end! read more

Luke just came out and sprayed around the house, in our crawl space, garage, and brushed all the webs. It's our first time ever spraying for bugs. He was kind and straight forward! A technician came by yesterday to spray but he let me know that, because of the rain, he recommended postponing the first time spray to make sure it was as effective as possible. The service guys do not carry ladders!!! We have a wasp nest behind a gutter on the second floor that they have not taken care of. The service tech tells us that they do not carry ladders. I have been in service for well over a decade, and on my truck is a 6' and 8' ladder. If I need an extension ladder I go to our office and get one. You can't claim whole house service in the contract if you don't cover the whole house. Save yourself some money and headache and find someone else. We are not renewing when our contract is up, definitely not worth it. read more

Would like to give no stars if possible. Pushy salesperson (young guy maybe 20 or so years old) rings our ring doorbell. I am at work so I talk to him through the microphone telling him I am not interested. He pretends he can't understand what I am saying and starts to knock aggressively on the front door now. I then tell him to get off my property or I am calling the police. While this is going on, my 20 something son answers the door. He works from at home and is on a conference call. The salesperson tells him we have ants and he's already helping 3 of my neighbors. My son tells him we aren't interested and he tells us to "enjoy your ants" and finally leaves. How can one honestly think this type of harassment and behavior will result in me becoming a customer?? read more

I have never dealt with such a worse service company before. A sales guy comes to your house and sells you a contract for quarterly treatments without mentioning about the contract terms even once. he made it sounds like the service comprises of 2 visits, first to kill adult bugs and 2nd to kill younger ones and you can continue if you like the service. and then they charge you for their second visit which they say is most crucial. So it's almost a scam where they sell you first visit at discount but 2nd visit which is expensive is the crucial one. I saw bugs even after their first visit and reported to them so even the quality of bug treatment is not effective at all. couple of kids show to your house and spray the chemical at few corners of the house and expect it to work. Just buy a can of ortho home defense and do it yourself which would be more effective than their service. read more

They were in my neighborhood going door to door selling their service (without a permit to solicit). As soon as I open the door, salesman says "are you the homeowner?" Yes. "You look too young. Are you sure?" Seriously? Then says all the extra sand around the brick pavers is due to ants. Um no sir, we just had all of our brick pavers reset and that's extra polymeric sand. I feel bad writing a negative review. We just moved into our house in the country when a young man came to our door with the 'we're in the neighborhood' pitch. The former owners must have left the doors and windows open, we needed more oomph than the home defense stuff I got at Home Depot could provide. They signed us into a 1 year contract that guaranteed their service and oerformed the first treatment immediately, then returned two weeks later with a follow up. All the bugs left as promised and we were super satisfied. The quarterly updates were good and professional. Our experience changed in the spring when suddenly little inchworms were coming in through a bathroom vent. We followed the advice to 'call if you see anything between treatments, we will come out for free.' They scheduled the quarterly to come out early and the next day sent out an 'inspector' who was a salesman for their contract service arm. He identified areas in our home where bugs and critters could come in, made a crude drawing to explain what he called their 'exclusion' service. He gave us a quote that said 'according to the drawing' and promised to clean up the drawing when he got back in the office so they tech knew exactly what to do. He promised when they were done no bugs or rodents would have an entry to our home, and they Would take care of anything additional when they were here. Based on our overall good experience we signed up. The drawing never got cleaned up, we paid over $600 and weren't satisfied with the results from the tech, who was nice but had a 'I don't know what you're talking about, this is just a job' attitude with us. He came to our house twice and after the service we could see outside light through small gaps he had 'taken care of.' I sent an email regarding our disappointment with service and they scheduled a follow-up, and sent the same technician! Fortunately our contracted one year of service was up and I send another email and cancelled. I received a follow up call, told my story, and declined a revisit from the 'inspector.' Yesterday I received a text asking me to confirm they are coming to perform their quarterly service! No thanks. read more

The company uses unethical practices. Before signing up I confirmed with salesperson that there would be no cancelation fee if I'm not happy with their services at which he said there would be a cancelation fee if I cancel after 1st service, but no cancelation fee if I cancel any time after 2nd service. I saw zero difference after 1st service and they told me this is expected and it will get much better after 2nd service. Well it didn't. I paid on time for both 1st and 2nd services and asked them to cancel the contract. It took multi messages, emails and couple phone calls until they finally canceled the contract. Now they are sending me tons of messages, emails and mails to pay them $150 cancelation fee while per salesperson there would be none if I canceled after 2nd service. I contacted them back via SMS, email and phone call to review the cancelation fee and I would still keep getting same messages that they try to contact me about my cancelation fee which is not true. Make yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this shady company. I was scammed by this company. The "inspector" Austin Koss was not qualified to inspect my home. I did not know this at the time and ended up signing up. I cancelled the service after learning from another employee that he is not allowed to inspect homes and now I am being charged a cancellation fee even though the contract is null and void due to the fact that it was signed under false pretenses. read more

This company totally sucks they constantly keep coming to your home every spring and summer panhandling their service. After years of declining their service I made the big mistake and decided I would give them a try biggest mistake ever. I explained to the person who come to my home that I would only be able to use the service for a short period of time and he assured me that the $200 annual commitment payback fee would be waived. They called me around Christmas time to come out and spray around my house in the middle of winter and below zero with snow coverage. I declined them to come and spray during this time no need for it no bugs in the winter time. It only gets worse about a week later they show up unannounced and proceeded to treat the outside of my house mind you it single digits temps I'm watching the guy do the treatment which was all of at the most 10min $169 charge. I called to settle the bill for the ridiculous overpriced treatment and close the account and reiterated that there would not be a cancellation charge per the contract agreement the agent assured me that it would not be. They lied in every way possible they charged me the $200 fee when they knew that the agreement was no cancellation fee would be charged I told them that I was in the military and I would be deploying soon and they were needing me to send them my deployment paperwork with my contact information not good never heard of that before it's not their business. Bottom line is avoid this company by all means because they are shady and will lie to you to get you to use their service which you can find elsewhere at a better price plus you don't have to worry about getting a bogus made up fee for canceling the service. read more

Ineffective pest control methods. Hard to schedule and when they do come, whatever they put around the house simply doesn't work. After two years, I still have the same pest issues. The technician offered to put some mouse traps, but he said he wouldn't check them for 3 months. Imagine having dead mice in traps for 3 months!!!! Waste of money and time. We had a guy come around our house while we were doing yard work. He gave what I now understand to be the familiar "we work with your neighbors" pitch. My husband fears spiders, so the pitch worked well for him. They did 2 treatments to our yard over the next couple of months. Still had a couple spiders in the house and some that created webs on the outside of the house. Sure, they knock them down when they come around spraying, but the spray itself doesn't seem to do much. We called to cancel and got a barrage of phone calls reminding us that we needed to pay $200 for the "discounts" we were given. When we called to cancel our account for good, we got two more sales pitches that offered us the remaining treatments for 150 each time to avoid the $200 fee, and then, after being placed on hold, we got one more pitch for the remaining treatments to be done for 130. I distinctly remembered the salesman saying that we could "cancel at any time," so hearing the 200 cancellation fee put these guys on my bad list forever. I was not happy about these smarmy business practices and I will never use this company again or recommend them to anyone. Businesses need to be transparent. When you start adding in these extra charges to people and offering more discounts for not canceling, it does not put them in good light. BE TRANSPARENT. You'd get a lot more business that way. read more

There were also issues about the salespeople, particularly Sasha, promising certain services that the company doesn't actually do when it comes out to your house. we don't like to write reviews but this company in Chicago( highland park and lake forest) is a scam. WORST experience ever. Buyer Beware! Caught on camera 2 times out of 4 not even doing the services we paid for. Chis was great so we gave them a chance to remedy the issues and it was a total failure. Alex has the audacity to tell us that 5-10 min was normal for the half ass job of spraying for mosquitos. They walked into the yard, hustled across the patio to the other side and left. never sprayed where the mosquitos were on the sides and back fence of the backyard. never did the front after reviewing all cameras. did not spay the patio bushes, what did they do? They charged based on sq footage of the yard and it's a rip off. No way in H you can cover the size of our yard in 10 min or less. that only means your taking my money and doing a lazy job. last time they came they didn't even show up in the alloted window 9-12, they came at 3:15. spent 7 min at the door walked in the back and sprayed ONE tiny boxwood. that was the fix? Also got hit with another service fee and cancel fee 340 total !! so you don't do the job and I have to pay you to fire you? you had 6 chances!!! Also you never get the number of the local branch, I tried to call Chris and Adam maybe Corey back and they send you to corporate which is overseas who keep transferring you and have an IQ level of a toddler. So the issue was never fixed and now I have to warn all my neighbors of the total shit show this company is. great sales men that even lie to get you to sign up. read more

Based on the business reply it's clear they did not read the review. Let's summarize: The company treated the wrong house ( based on BBB reviews this is a common occurrence with the company), which was confirmed by your manager who rescheduled an appointment. You billed me for the treatment at the wrong house. I tried to call and speak to a manager but could not get past your call center, who was completely scripted, spoke poor English, and was no help. I canceled the service, which received no response from the company. My credit card is billed over a week and a half later Now, following this review, a BBB and States Attorney consumer fraud complaint you expect me to believe you are even remotely capable of helping me? Perhaps if you had provided me a direct contact option I would have called, but in this case no. How many Barrington Illinois houses have you done the wrong location for? I am so upset I never looked at reviews before "hiring" them last summer. They lie to sign you into a contract with them and then when they don't do the services promised, they try to charge a cancellation fee of $150. I was home when the technician came to do his bimonthly service and watched him stand in our backyard on his phone. He was at our home for a total of 5 minutes and I received a bill for $199. The company left a lot to be desired. They came to the door right when I bought my house, claiming they did a lot of work in our neighborhood, which I took to mean they were a good pest control group; they did not and were not. They missed a massive infestation of Wasp/Hornets in a bush on the side of my house and when I called them to come back and address the situation, they claimed the problem was honey bees (it was not) and they don't handle honey bees. I also called them to take care of a brown recluse spider issue and nobody ever showed up. They make you sign a 2 year contact and pay a fee when you cancel the contract.
