1-Star Review - DO NOT USE - Aggressive sales, unauthorized "services," and fraudulent billing I was outside with my children when a door-to-door salesman from EcoShield Pest Solutions aggressively approached me, claiming ants were "inside all my walls" and that I needed to sign up immediately. I reluctantly scheduled an appointment for that week. I called the company the same day to cancel, explaining my landlord would handle pest control through another provider. They confirmed the cancellation. Days later, they texted me that they were "rescheduling" me for Friday anyway -- without any consent or response from me. I never opened or replied to the message because I had already canceled. On Friday, a technician showed up unannounced. Security camera footage clearly shows the technician sat in their vehicle in front of my house for approximately 25-60 minutes and never got out or performed any treatment. Despite this, EcoShield attempted to charge my card $189. My bank declined the transaction. When I confronted the representative (Gage) via text, he claimed they had performed an "exterior perimeter treatment." This is completely false -- the footage proves no work was done. He continued to insist the charge was valid even after I provided details of the camera evidence and reminded him I had canceled days earlier and never authorized any rescheduling or service. They have continued sending billing texts and collection-style messages even after I demanded they stop, remove me from their system, and confirm in writing that the charge was canceled. I never signed a contract, never created an account, and never authorized any services after the initial cancellation. This appears to be a deliberate pattern. Do not give these people your phone number or payment info. Their sales tactics are high-pressure, they schedule and bill without consent, and they fabricate services to justify charges. I had to get a new card because of their repeated attempts. I have filed complaints with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and my bank, and I'm sharing all texts and camera footage. This is a review of our initial experience (06/02/17) with regard to salesmanship and service: so far, top notch with zero hidden costs - what we agreed to the day prior is exactly what we paid. The second treatment is in 90 days and I will continue to provide updates on results of treatment, etc., as we move through this one-year service contract. Pest problems include: tons of black ants/colonies under driveway, all flower beds, etc., snails, wasps, and spiders. While I don't usually go for the door-to-door sales pitch, because we were facing losing another summer to the insects, and because the salesman, Jeff, very respectfully obliged when I didn't want to jump right into the sale and returned another time, as promised, so that I could research the company, we entered into a one-year agreement. About our experience with Jeff: I absolutely detest high pressure sales and Jeff was completely opposite of high pressure: kind, respectful, informative and to the point. He scheduled the first appt. for the only time my schedule could accommodate this week and the technician, Mitch, arrived on time and the service he provided was absolutely spot on with what Jeff promised. About our experience with Mitch: our appt. was set for 5 PM and we were not his last stop. Regardless of the later appt., Mitch took the time to perform a thorough walk through of our property with me, making note of all the "problem" areas that need his attention/treatment and was equally as thorough with the treatments all was included, as promised. I want to share my experience so others don't go through the same frustration. EcoShield Pest Control uses high-pressure sales tactics, makes misleading claims, lies, solicits, and then traps customers in contracts that are (literally) impossible to cancel. They pressure you to sign up on the spot (they deliberately took advantage of my disabled husband). The "satisfaction guarantee" they advertise is not real. When I tried to cancel (over the phone) due to not being satisfied, they argued with me for 30 minutes, transferred me around several times, put me on long holds, and ultimately told me I would be penalized $250 for canceling. The representative would not provide their name, nor their supervisor's name, and refused to let me speak with a manager. After I hung up the call, I already had an invoice in my email for a $250 cancellation fee--even though I was (and still am) COMPLETELY unsatisfied with their services. Instead of honoring their so-called "guarantee," they fall back on hidden fine print. This is NOT how an honest business operates. If you are considering using EcoShield Pest Control, DON'T! Companies that rely on lies, threats, and hidden fees to keep customers are not trustworthy. They should be ashamed of themselves. I'm embarrassed to even know of this company. read more

The door-to-door salesman's are extremely pushy after he explained it. I accepted his pitch the next day. I decided that I did not want to proceed with it anymore and since I haven't had the service yet, I was going to call and cancel and then went to call and cancel. I received numerous text messages on why I need to explain myself, I feel like that is completely unnecessaryI receive a call. And it was the salesman who sold me. He also needed a reason why and I said we're just gonna go with a different pest control he then made snarky remarks.Like if you're ever gonna come back, you'll never receive a discount on this amazing deal I already gave you. You're gonna have to pay $400. I already told him that's fine by me cause I'm not interested so why would I even need that information they continue to pressure me into giving him a chance and then just decided to hang up and block the number, I then received numerous text messages this morning saying I need to call the office and give more reasoning on why I have to cancel this is ridiculous. read more

Dana, Jake and Alex are awesome! Dana explained the company, my quarterly schedule, payment withdrawal and what services I would receive. He answered all of my questions and was not pushy. Alex and Dana asked details where I noticed bugs, wasps and webs ect. I asked if they could spray my cellar also and they did very willingly. They gave me sticky pop-up boxes as well to place in areas around my home or in window wells. I also was impressed by the amount of spraying they did. I have had other companies before that only sprayed a few drops here and there. These guys sprayed a 6+ inch wide continuous spray outdoors around my house. Indoors they were very neat and tidy and it didn't take them very long. All of them were very professional, courteous, friendly and took the time answer my questions. Thank you Ecosheild team! The guys at EcoShield have been taking care of my lawn and house for over a year now. All the guys I have met so far (4 or 5) are very professional and knowledgeable. I just met Preston today who did an awesome job. It was very thorough. I like that I can just tell them what kind of bugs I am seeing and they take care of it. They also explain what they are going to do and how they will take care of the problem. I have had to have them take care of mice around the garage, ants in the flowerbeds, spiders in the house, yellow-jackets on the fence. Whatever it may be they get the job done. And if I need them to come out again between scheduled appointments for some new issue, they are always quick to do it. It's also nice to get the email and text letting me know when they will be here. I highly recommend them for pest control. read more

We decided to get this service after a door-to-door salesman came. We have had tons of problems with yellow jackets. Because we spend so much time outside, it has become a serious problem. We have knocked two yellow jackets off of our ten month old baby. When the salesman was here and we were showing him the problem, there were yellow jackets flying around our heads. We were told about the year long contract and the $50 initial spray followed by $125 a month later for the eggs. The salesman sent Justin to spray around the house, and he was there promptly. He communicated with us and was very gracious. Since coming, we haven't seen a yellow jacket on our deck. It's a huge relief to be able to spend time outside without worrying about my baby. This company provides thorough and friendly service. They are willing to come back if you see a problem the first application wasn't able to address. Unlike some of the reviews, they remind you of your scheduled appointment and readily change it if there is a conflict with your schedule. Each of the technicians take their job seriously and I appreciate how they respect your property, even wearing shoe covering when they enter your home. Nelson, the young man who came to do the inside of my home, explained everything he was doing and why. While he did the inside, Micah was doing the outside. While spraying, he even removed every cobweb in every corner of my garage, shed and cat room! I would recommend Ecoshield to anyone having a pest problem! read more

Your Review: (5 Stars)Patrick was so awesome in taking take of the needs at my property. Patrick is a hard worker and takes his job to heart. Patrick was kind enough to tell about my garages foundation. Patrick explained all the procedures that he was doing and asked if there was anything special I wanted him to do? That's when I asked him to do my garage since I've never had it done. Patrick is by far the best tech I've had out at my home. I watched as he did my garage and I could tell it was hard work, but he just kept on cleaning the cobwebs and debris, I wish I could have Patrick all the time to do the service at my property, but I know your company has your system setup a certain way. I am extremely happy with EcoShield - Midvale. I knew I was signing a contract for one year. That was explained right up front. I was also told that if I cancelled before the year was up, I had to pay the full price for the first treatment. They are very pleasant, very thorough and very professional. I had questions and concerns before the first treatment. They listened to them all and answered them completely. I had a terrible spider and wasp problem that was pretty much taken care of after the first treatment. Preston did the follow-up today. He noticed my slug and snail problem and took care of that and any leftover wasp nests. I am extremely happy with their service and recommend them highly. read more

I have been using EcoShield for about a year and have been very pleased! Preston and Nelson are a pleasure to work with and have no qualms about walking down in to the dungeon to spray. I started seeing ant activity in my house last night and called EcoShield this morning and Nelson came out at 1:00 same day! He was thorough and had no problem talking to me about the sudden ant activity and he was patient with all my questions. It is rare and refreshing to find a company that devoted to taking care of their customers. EcoShield is my 3rd pest control company and since I switched to them the springtail problem I was having has gone away. I will not be switching companies again. Patrik did a great job today spraying indoors and out for seasonal pests. I asked him to spray specifically for spiders as well as refill our rodent traps as the nearby creek and construction along with the time of year, make them a nuisance. I like that Ecoshield uses sprays that won't hurt my small dogs, and if they have to use something that might bother them (like snail bait), their technicians let me know upfront. Sad to see all the reviews that say this company is a scam. I have been with them for 5 years and they are nothing but professional. My guess is people are mad that they aren't getting a super cheap deal all the time. Well, friends, you get what you pay for. read more

One thing that I especially appreciate about Ecoshield is how personable the company is. Mitchell truly is one of the most friendly humans I've ever met and that is saying a great deal with our current pandemic situation. He was willing to take time to talk through the process with me, while still being conscious of the need for good social distance, before he completed it and make me feel he cares not only for my families pest control needs but for people's well-being as a whole and that's awesome. As fantastic as their servicemen are, I have taken care of our pests for all but one of the last 20 years with monthly spraying with Home Defense. I tried it for a year with being surprised that four "quarterly" appointments were actually five appointments and you pay per appointment, not by the year! Only found that out after thinking I was done after four visits; the contract calls the first one an "initial " treatment. My biggest complaint is that they had ways to drop the price to keep me (the same as cable tv). It irritates me that there isn't a set price - so negotiate like MAD! I cannot see paying big bucks for something I can do for pennies. read more

We've had Eco shield visit our home several times. Each time I've been impressed with the technicians. Clean cut, informative, friendly, and explained everything very well. For several years we've had a hornet infestation in our backyard. We tried everything, but nothing worked. After 2 treatments we never saw another one! My kids will finally play outside again! We also had mice throughout our property which they have solved for me as well. Any time we need touch up work or special attention where we are seeing bugs we can call them and they will come for no additional charge. Great value! Robert did an amazing job today with treating the inside & outside of our house. He was incredibly thorough inside to insure that my areas of concern were treated. I was especially impressed and grateful for his treatment of the outside of our home as he made sure that all of our exterior windows, regardless of height, were treated! I recently signed up with EcoSheild services. My first appointment was on a Tuesday and Shay was my technician. She arrived on time and was very friendly and professional. She made sure that I understood the contract and what she would be doing to help keep the bugs away from my home. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and respectfully. It was also a particularly windy day so she made sure to be extra careful in my back yard so there wouldn't be any blow back on my garden. I am again very pleased with the guy his name is mitch he has been the one to come out and help us and he is great!
