Typical situation. We contacted the company because we have a pocket gopher problem. They came out and promised the world and a deal for it too, but got charged the regular rate and then we're told that rodents were not included in that service. Called to cancel services and apparently we're under contract with them and there's a $150 cancellation fee. It may state it in the papers you sign but it wasn't expressed out loud which would be the ethical thing to do when you're signing a contract. Make sure you read what you sign and don't believe the nice young man who knocks on your door. read more

High-pressure salesman. Promised I would only have to pay for 3 applications and if I was not happy that I could cancel. They sign you up for a one-year contract that they will not cancel and if you do you will pay a cancelation fee. Ended up paying a total of 580.00 dollars for 5 applications. My biggest problem was ants which were known from the beginning and it has not gotten any better. I timed the last technician and he was at my house for less than 15 minutes and only went around the house taking down cobwebs and spraying the house. Never went around where the ant problems existed. I even ended up spraying and applying ant and insect granules myself. After I canceled I received a text several weeks later saying that they were planning to come out a sixth time. I called them up and told them that I had canceled and they said that I had made some verbal agreement to continue which was not true. It seems they have some good reviews but I didn't like my results, especially 580.00 dollars later. I would not recommend them. read more

I am really impressed with the techs that come out and do the job. The office staff and sales staff are not up to par. The salesman did not disclose that when I signed up that it was for a 2 year contract. I will never sign a 2 year contract for any service provided in case I am not satisfied. The office staff does not relay messages about extra services like I was promised. I called in twice to have my treatment redone in between treatments and for some reason I never got my extra treatments done. I guess that there business is that once we service you that is all you get till the next service. When I called to cancel the person I talked to in the office did not listen to me and figured that he sent a tech out on my next service appointment that all would be good. If ECOSHIELD comes knocking at your door I would not even talk to them they are not customer oriented only money hungry. read more

Extremely rude, aggressive salesperson came to our door despite our "no soliciting" sign, suggesting we have all kinds of pest problems which we do not...then suggested we have rats, and if we don't "we will soon." We have never seen one in all the years we have lived here. Was that a threat? Is planning to release some into our yard or something? (Kidding...sort of). After declining politely and firmly several times, I finally shut the door in his face, to which he shouted "Enjoy your rats!" on the way down the stairs. Unbelievable! read more

The worst company around. Don't get sucked in by the name EcoShield, there is nothing eco about this company. They kill everything good, like earthworms, butterflies and bees, but don't kill ants, earwigs, grasshoppers or hornets. When you cancel your service because you are unhappy with the results, they schedule you again three months later and when you call to complain they say you have to pay $150.00 for cancelling. I would not use this company again. They are not trustworthy and they didn't do the job they said they would do. I scheduled a specific time with them to come back when I would be home. The decided to come at a different time and when I wasn't there they pretty much forced their way in on my wife who was home alone. She didn't want them to come in but they said they had a contract and had to do it. Next, I cam home to a half done job. They were supposed to de-web everything and that was not done. LOVED my interaction with this EcoShield... from the gal in the office to the tech who came to my home, very fun and professional! I only needed them for wasps under my front porch and I was super pleased they didn't try to up-sell me for a monthly service or contract! The access to the wasp nest was very tight and hard to reach, but the tech did the best he could despite being afraid of getting stung :) He even ran to the shop to get a stronger poison when he could tell what he had on his truck wasn't working. I've been using EcoShield for 2 + years or so now. They do a great job and every one of the guys that have come out are super nice. I very rarely do reviews but sometimes like this, I feel it's worth it. If I ever need them to come back between my regularly scheduled appointments for anything, it is always easy to get them back out. I've also recommended them to friends for their ant issues and they said good things as well. They will spray inside and out, take down spider webs off the windows, put down bait, etc. It's nice to have these guys when we need them. Keep up the good work guys! read more

100% scam artists. Their services are not good. When you try to cancel, they basically don't let you cancel and continue to send you bills. Then when you finally find a way to have them cancel an account (like we did in February 2020), we get a bill on July 28, 2020 for another $150. We call them and ask them to read the notes from the February phone call and they wouldnt. I would ignore any 5 star reviews for this company, likely from employees or owners of the company. read more

Great company. Not like the typical pest control company that signs you and then doesn't care what you see after a treatment. Initially I had some residual bugs it seemed for the first 2 months but they took care of me and came out for additional treatments shortly after. I highly recommend that you do not use Eco Shield as they over charge you and do not complete the work. I've paid them 500.00 dollars to spray my house and yard and they came the first time and were here for ten minutes and cleaned the cobwebs out from around my house which I could have easily done myself and said they would be back. They were supposed to spray the inside of my house which they did after arguing with them to do it. They said they would be back in thirty days to spray the inside again and they never showed up. They called and said they were going to do the outside again and I told them no one was home, if they came I couldn't tell. And now they are trying to charge me 150.00 dollars for breach of contract and it's been over a year. They said that if I pay the 150.00 that would come back and spray my house again. TERRIBLE COMPANY... if I could give a zero star rating I would. Their service is ineffective. We paid for the initial visit but complained to them that we had seen more spiders & yellow jackets than previous years, even after their treatment. When we cancelled the next scheduled visit they charged my credit card for $150 for the 'discount that was given on the initial visit'. We paid $150 for the initial visit! I argued that had we been satisfied with the service provided we would be happy to continue paying for the treatments, but the manager refused to refund the charge for the 'discount'. Very condescending, rude & unprofessional. We've used other pest control in the past that was MUCH cheaper & MUCH more effective. This company is a racket! Read the fine print before you sign anything. They'll charge you $150 if you try to cancel your contract. The little eighteen-year-old that showed up to sell the contract was a total bait-and-switch operation. Was told that we would only pay $335 for the entire year because they were running a "special". Well that special disappeared quickly after the contract was signed because they charge $185 every visit and they come five times a year. Avoid this company at all costs! I would give a negative 5 Stars if I could. They also did a terrible job in the follow-up visits. Didn't treat for ants in the lawn even though I asked the guy specifically about it and it was included in the service contract. He spent about a total of 10 minutes at our house and we have a 5,000 square foot house and near half an acre of lawn. That tells you all you need to know. Had to call their customer service and have somebody else come back out to retreat. By the way, they never killed any of the ants. I had to finally go out and buy Terro for the yard, because apparently they don't treat the flowerbed areas or any areas outside of the grass. Well that happens to be where most of the ants are! I was told this after the contract was signed, of course, even though the salesman assured me that they would treat the entire yard. What a liar! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!! read more

I called them last week. What a waste! First off the person answering tells me finally that I should go to a store and buy my own bait traps? Hello why do you think I am calling you? If you don't sign some stupid contract and want them to continually come over charging you they are not interested. When I told her this was a fenced vegetable garden and probably some voles or small mice she told me just to go to a store and purchase them. Then if you won't sign their contract forget it--she also said well then you will be charged 250.00 for the small area. Too many other places to call. Don't bother. read more

I tried to work with them and pay for the services provided but they refused. The two times I had my house serviced I had to have them come back because they did such a poor job. Very displeased with Ecoshield. The salesman misrepresented the company as a small business with him and his brother running it - wrong. It is a big expensive franchise. There seems to be a lack of internal communication. Workers were unaware of messages left with the secretaries. On multiple occasions we were told they would get back to us for a time they could come out for rodent traps, but in fact, no follow-up was ever received. It took weeks and multiple calls to them to resolve. We terminated the contract and were charged an exorbitant fee to leave. We do not recommend this company. read more

Don't be fooled by all of the high reviews, if you notice most everyone reviewing these guys on google only have one review each which means that it is solicited and fake. A salesman came to my house and sold me on doing one application, he put me into a contract but made it clear that I could get out whenever I wanted, which is why I was ok signing. They also told me that the contract included applying to the inside of the house which they never did. When I asked why they didn't do that part of the contract they said most people don't want it done that's why they don't do it, Even though I was paying for it. When I try to cancel they told me I was locked in for 5 applications which was not what I was told by the salesman. Now they want me to pay the balance of the contract before I cancel it. Don't be fooled like I was, it's overpriced and you can find the same quality for a lot cheaper price. I hate companies that use bait and switch tactics. read more

Update to my previous review - I had to call again to speak to an executive manager about cancelling my contract. He did say he could charge me less for the treatment I wanted, but it was still higher than several competitors so I decided to cancel. I was initially told I would have to pay the discount I received on my first treatment (I just got wasp spray outside of home and garage only) which would have been ~ $300 because it was past the 3 business days to cancel. I reminded him I called on Monday and had to call back because I did not get a return call. He was polite and after reviewing the notes agreed to cancel the contract w/o a fee. So, long story short - I've had better service but the service tech was very polite and I was allowed to cancel my contract w/o having to pay - there are more affordable and possibly more effective places out there. However, I definitely feel like these door to door contracts are predatory as the penalty for cancelling early is excessive. read more
