I would not recommend using this company for your pest solutions and not because their stuff doesn't work. It did a great job to deter ants from our house. But my experience in the last month dealing with their customer service was extremely difficult. Unbelievably poor quality and accepting responsibility for the situation their tech created is not their strong suit. I had to cancel account with them because of it and was told that they will have to charge me the initial setup fee, which I believe is about $450 on top of $160 already paid! This was waved in the end, but I would like to warn others that you may be taken through the wringer by their customer service if something didn't work out as expected. read more

By far the worst company I've ever used. I had an inspector come out to deal with a issue with rats in my attic, the man removed covering I had in my roof to make it seem like there was more work so he could charge me more. After telling me I had rats and how damaging the air can be to me and my animals health he left open my attic access open and I had to call him back to close it as I was not home. Then comes the shitty customer service I had my service done the end of September and called multiple times during the month of October. Finally I get a call back from someone and then have to wait for a manager to call me back. The manager agrees with how upset she would be and that she understands my frustration offers all kinds of things she can do but will not wave the fee for cancellation or even lower it. I'll pay the amount honestly to not have the shady company ever at my house again. read more

Tech left white powder around my doors and windows that I had to clean up. Upon my next service date, I requested him not to use powder, so he used a spray that left my windows spotted. I called the company and was told someone would come out to clean up the mess for me. A few hours later, a lady called to tell me to use soap and water. If I'm paying for a service, I shouldn't have to clean up behind them. So they cancelled my service but because I didn't accept their offer to switch from bi-monthly to quarterly, they will not refund the $150 fee. Worst customer service and retention ever! This sounded like a good deal when they first came by my house. So I signed up due to the fact that we had a large amount of spiders around the house and a large ant hill in the yard. The first treatment they did worked well for the ants but not for the spiders. The second treatment, the tech didn't spend much time and never came on the deck where the majority of spiders were. I called and they had the tech come out again. The next treatment seemed ok but the tech only spent about 15 minutes on-site (including the time in his truck to complete his paperwork) The forth treatment was a very rainy day and once again the tech spent about 15 minutes total on-site. When I called to complain about spraying in the rain, I was advised that the product was designed to work with water. When asked how this worked if it hadn't been raining for a couple of weeks, they advised that the product would also work well with out the water. What????? I told them that I was being lied to and told them I wanted to cancel the contract. They sent me to another person who told me, finally, that they would terminate the contract and that I wouldn't be charged the early termination fee. The also said they would do the next treatment at a 50% discount. I declined the offer and thank them for not charging the early termination fee. Since then I have received 2 emails telling me that I owe them for the last "treatment" and the early termination fee. I called again and got no satisfaction at all. I would advise anyone looking at the company for pest control to look elsewhere. read more

He advised on the services he was providing, the residue that may temporarily show until drying and how to look for potential issues. There are a lot of things I don't like about EcoShield but I'll leave it at this: I got a text of when my appointment is scheduled (you get told which day they're coming with only a few days notice so not a lot of flexibility) and I called to tell them we have been sick and because of Covid I'm not comfortable having anyone come to the house. I was told I could reschedule in a couple weeks but because I'm on contract I can't push it out any more than that or skip this months service. I 1.) am disgusted that they don't enough care enough about their employees not to send them to a household that's sick, especially with Covid and 2.) respect the fact that I can't always make an appointment works with only a few days notice and only a 2 weeks window. This company is the worst. I believe once they get you in a contract they try to get you to cancel so they can just collect your money. They came out Aug 2 and then texted me a month later to come out for a quarterly visit once I called to let them know that there are 3 months in a quarter and they had just came out a month before and also that I still had a pest problem and that the initial visit did nothing. The customer service is the worst the ladies that work there are not very good at communicating, the 100% satisfaction guarantee is a joke. Avoid this company at all costs. Please avoid this company unless you have a very simple problem with ants coming in from outside at the base of your walls or spiders bothering you in the corners of your first-story windows. All they will do effectively is spray pesticide around the exterior base of your house every 3 months and charge you for it with a state of the art email billing service. At your door the sales person will mention someone else in the neighborhood by name as if that's a referral, then act like they care about what your pest problems are. But they don't care and they won't address your actual pest problems. They just want you to sign a 1-year contract and get their commission. I should have shut down the conversation the minute he asked for a 1-year contract prior to the first treatment. Now I'm paying a contract "break" fee just to get this company out of my life. I had an actual problem with drain flies in the plumbing, but their reps and exterminators had no idea what I was talking about or how to treat them. They talk about spiders in all the window nooks, but they will never show up with ladders and treat your second story windows, they'll just do the easy to reach ground-level stuff that can be done in a 15-20m visit. We still get spiders in the house, and it wasn't a concern to begin with. I had a hole outside I worried was a rat nest. They dropped a trap next to it and have never looked at that trap or reported back to me with anything like a professional opinion about whether the hole was a rodent nest and whether it is still active. They'll offer to spray inside your house as well as a free sign-up service. This was handled poorly, leaving far too much liquid pesticide on my wood floors. I had to go around on my hands and knees to clean it up. Exiting your contract is not made easy and they charge you for the pleasure of ending the contract. Any reputable company that offers an ongoing service pro-rates a refund for unused services. Hopefully you get the picture here. This company is not an extermination service trying to do right by its customers. It's a business machine that uses door to door sales tactics to lock people into hard-to-break contracts, then sends poorly trained young people to spray the outside of your house 4 times a year and collect your sweet, sweet recurring revenue. It's like some MBA looked at the TruGreen model and said - I want a business with the same revenue characteristics - maybe I can do it for pest control!? The thing is, fertilizing grass and spraying weeds pretty much follows the same rules in every yard. Pest control problems are different and specific for each customer, they need troubleshooting and judgement by experienced professionals who are not just performing a contracted/repeated activity, but instead understanding their customer's problems and solving them. read more

BEWARE EcoShield Pest Control. They are NOT above-board and don't let you cancel their service for any reason! I "subscribed" to this service about 10 months ago. After the 1st treatment I had more insects than I had ever had. I called to cancel my service at that time. They told me I signed a 1-year contract and the only way they would cancel is for me to pay for the whole year in advance. I was incredulous. Clearly EcoShield resorts to these tactics because they have a TON of unhappy customers wanting to get out of their contracts. The technicians aren't the problem...it's whatever solution they use that is completely ineffective and attracts bugs rather than repel them. They also placed rodent bait stations around my property. I can't speak to their effectiveness. I suspect these are just as ineffective as their bug control. They also default you to autopay and there is no possibility of disabling this via their online portal. I had to call into customer service (press 1 for sales if you wish to actually get a person on the line...they will then transfer you to someone overseas to handle the issue. If you press 2 for existing customer, nobody will answer the call). Super shady! This is the second pest control company I hired for monthly service. The first was effective, but they were always trying to "upsell." I quit because they wanted $8,000 to treat my crawl space for rodents, and if I didn't spend $8k they would not guarantee any of their treatments. I think all of these pest control companies are shady....some worse than others. EcoShield is by far the shadiest I have dealt with. High prices. Iron-clad Contract. Ineffective treatments. Poor customer service. The list goes on. I only wish I paid more attention to all of the negative reviews here! read more

No one would take the time to read a review long enough to detail just how bad this company is, but to summarize: The sales team will promise you absolutely anything to get you under contract, then the techs will shamelessly tell you they can't deliver on those promises, and when you cancel because they aren't delivering, the billing team will try to extort another $250 out of you for the cancelation, which they are utterly unyielding about (despite you already paying them hundreds of dollars for services which didn't address the concerns you bought the service for), regardless of the false pretenses under which the contract was entered. Their entire business is setup to fleece you and for you never to be able to talk to anyone who can truly help (everyone is just doing their job and following "policy," and no one can escalate the matter to a decision maker, apparently there are none in the company). Lesson learned: If a company needs to go door to door to sale their service, and they need a contract with a $250 cancelation fee attached to keep you signed up, it's because their service is not worth buying. Companies offering something of value don't need such methods to find and keep customers. read more

They definitely have the customer's best interest in mind when providing quotes and giving estimates on the amount of labor required. We as many of our neighbors hired eco shield in a year long contract. Service was minimal and the problem came when trying to cancel for multiple reasons- including lack of follow through and doing what they said they did. At this point we wanted to cancel but they wanted us to pay for the last visit without them coming. I've been trying to schedule the last visit for months with no response. Instead they turned us over to collections and still multiple messages to them with no response. Our cats doing a better job preventing pests then these people have and we will be sure to stop our neighborhood from using their services. read more

[This review matches my Google review] Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. BELIEVE all of the reviews you've read. This company is unprofessional and will slime and dime you. The salesman that may come to your door may charm you, especially if you're having any sort of bug issues and they catch you at the right time. However, be careful to read the fine details in the contract because what they sell you in person may not match what's in writing. You may also get pushed to have service within the same day or two. When you attempt to cancel the contract within the 3-day window, it may not actually get processed. I thought I cancelled on Friday. I emailed them, called them, and spoke with someone. On Monday, I received an inquiry from another employee asking to connect to better understand why I want to cancel. I called and the person I spoke with tried to give me the run around on their services versus ensure my ask to cancel on Friday was met. I had to push to get the cancellation processed and ensure written confirmation. I'll be carefully checking my credit card statements. I just really hope this is the end of it and I don't need to take more serious action. Avoid them. Don't let yourself get suckered in like I did. read more

Do not sign up for this service! It's nearly impossible to cancel - 2nd day in a row of being on hold for over 25 minutes trying to talk to someone. If the only the only way to cancel is to call, staff your call center appropriately! I was finally was able to talk to someone, and after being offered a multitude of discounts and free services to stay on, I was able to move the conversation along with the representative toward cancelling my service. But then, surprise! You will be charged $130 - the discount that was originally given because I'm cancelling before my contract ends. What?! If someone is cancelling because your service doesn't work, why on earth would you think it's wise to CHARGE them?? Maybe because they KNOW they're product doesn't actually work. They're a business after all, and need to make money some how. I can't imagine how much money the lose because of free services... I digress. So did that representative cancel my service?? Nope! I had to call back, waiting another 20 minutes, to talk to another representative - again, hearing the sales pitches and again declining free services. I asked to talk with a manager because of the horrible cancellation practices. Finally, I received a call from a "manager" the next day. What a joke! Not only was my account not cancelled, but I was told if I did not approve the $130 charge, it'd be sent to collections... all of this hassle for a service that made the initial bugs & spiders WORSE. So did that manager cancel my account?? Nope! I called back AGAIN, because I wanted to make sure that charge wasn't going to collections. The "manager" hung up on me so I had my suspicions. Come to find out, my account was still active and they removed my credit card, but left the charge on my account. The representative said I could either provide her with my credit card to process the charge, or it'll be in collections in 30 days. If I hadn't called back, I would have had collections calling! She was helpful enough to process the charge and cancel my service (suggestion: stay on the phone with the rep and ask for an email confirmation). TLDR: Stay away! There are much better products and companies out there that don't have shady business practices. read more

Lesson learned, never again will I say yes to a door to door sales person. I had an empty wasp nest, they took it away. The day after a wasp problem started. I reached out multiple times because policy states that they come out and spray again if the problem isn't resolved. Instead they tried to book me another quarterly service at $175 after tax. I kept explaining that quarterly means 4 times a year, not 1 month after treatment/payment. When I asked for a free touch up I was told the chemicals take 2 weeks to work. 2 weeks later they scheduled me again just a month after initial treatment. Basically this place is a scam. Neither problem was solved after several attempts. The technicians were all quite nice and tried their best but the service is absolutely not one bit effective.
