One of these drivers crashed into my car (during bumper to bumper traffic, I might add), which made me crash into the car in front me - and this driver didn't even want to stop. He does this for a living. This is his job - mind you. He said nothing except "but there are no dents or anything, nothing happened so it doesn't matter" despite the fact that he caused an accident in the middle of the highway. Understandably, myself and the people from the car in front of me were upset - and this professional driver couldn't care less. Luckily, neither of us had damage to our cars, so we both got back in our cars - no need to involve insurance if no damage was done, it was more annoying and inconvenient than anything. When I got home, I called the phone number on the back of this car and said I would like to report a driver who crashed into me - no damage was done, but I assume any professional car service would like to know that their driver got in an accident and handled it poorly (quite an understatement). Before I got the chance to further explain, the operator said to call 911 and file a complaint, everyone has insurance. I started to explain more, and he interrupted me and was rude beyond belief - and this led to him hanging up on me more than 15 times. This company doesn't care about customers, nor do they care about their drivers and how they are driving while on the job - and bottom line, they don't care about anyone's safety. I work in customer service for a living - and I mean it when I say this is the worst possible way anyone could have handled this situation. Do not use this company. read more

The cars are clean and well driven, neither is the case from the cars under the train. Awesome private car company I use them about 3 to 4 times a week when I'm running late for work and I don't even give them my name all I say is the address and the dispatcher is like - ok Andy give us 5 mins- and 5 mins later I get a text saying. -ECUA CAR SERVICE Your car has arrived. Thanks- And the price is always been the same for me plus the drivers are really nice yeah I might not talk much in the morning cause you know it's the morning I'm barely handleing my self being awake but you know, reliable plus weekdays it's a bitch (excuse my French) to get from Astoria to the upper east side and usually takes 1 hour they know the short cuts and take a special road and I get there in half an hour maybe even less. Today I woke up at 8:40 am and had to be at work by 9:20, I called them up 5 mins later at my door then next thing we are at my job with 3 mins to spare. Equa is just not the same great car service that it once was. I live in Woodside, a few blocks from dispatch office. During the past 10 months or so, I do not get a dispatcher on the phone when I call. Instead, there is a female voice on a recording (probably the owner) mumbling about hours of operation and Covid!!! Are you kidding me? Where's the dispatcher......This has happened repeatedly....... I'll hold on the line for 3 or 4 minutes and this dumb as__ woman is still rambling on about hours of operation and Covid. Well, guess what, Equa is not the only fish in the sea. When I moved to Astoria I used ECUA services on a monthly basis. Now we bought a car so I use them only when need to get to the airport. They never let me down, always came on time. Actually a lot of times they would show up 5-10 minutes before the scheduled time. They would honk but if I wasn't ready, would just let them wait. Maybe because I live one block away. They are a bit pricer then some others. Once I called them to get a quote to LES from Astoria. They said 34$. Yellow cab is about 20$ plus tip. Some other car service is 30$. The car was always clean and the drivers were nice, no complaints there. read more

When I first moved to Astoria in 2010, Ecua was the only car service I used, and that lasted for almost a year. But then, I think they started getting lazy. Now, every time I call, I am answered by a recording and then must wait about 5 minutes for a human to answer. But the cherry on top of my dismay is definitely the time I was extremely late for a work meeting in Midtown, and called Ecua to get me to the office faster than the subway ever could. Which, to be fair, they did. However, they sent an SUV with a laptop inside and Wi-Fi, neither of which I used. I assumed that since I did not request this kind of ride, I would not be charged for it. Wrong - the driver charged me $4 for the car and the extras I didn't use, and for using a credit card since I did not have enough cash to cover the ride, as it was more expensive than it was just a month before, by about $5. I usually get the fare from the dispatcher, because the driver must adhere to that, but I was in such a rush I didn't think to ask. My mistake. Now, I use Barona's or New Experience. I may wait longer for the car with Barona, but that is offset by the time I spend on hold with Ecua. And just a note - don't even try calling Ecua if it is raining, or if it is a Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 7pm to 4am. You will either be on hold for much longer than is acceptable, or they will promise you a car in 5 minutes, and when you call back because no one showed up, they will tell you they didn't have any cars available to begin with. I give the drivers an extra star because they have always been very nice and professional, save for the one who charged me extra for everything despite my protests. read more

Really impressed this morning with Ecua car service - 2 days ago my fiancé used them to get into the city for something he was doing that was work related and I came with since I was also going into the city. I sat up front while my fiancé and his friend sat in the back. While up front I used my Apple lightning cable to charge my iPhone for a bit. I got out of the car before my friend and finance and everything was fine, until I realized the next morning that I had left my charging cable inside the car connected to his USB port. Granted, the driver could have realized it wasn't his and returned it to the other people in the car to return to me...but that didn't happen and maybe he genuinely didn't notice. I called immediately the next day and was told to speak with a manager who would be in the following morning...so I did that and the manager looked me up and couldn't find anything so I figured it was lost with the wind...but about 5 minutes later the manager calls me back and lets me know she was able to track down the driver and find my cable. It's a $20 cable, not one of the fake ones from like Amazon or a drug store (I've got those too tho...lol) so I was really happy they were able to track it down so I could get it back. Scammers! SHADY BUSINESS! Do not trust them!!!!! I called for this service to take my to Brooklyn. It was 5am and I was beyond exhausted and ready to pass out. Over the phone the dispatcher said it would cost $37. When I got to my destination, the driver "Luis Lozado" (I assume that was his name as I saw off my banking statement) charged me $45! Because I was too tired and a bit In shock being ripped off to argue with him, I got his company card and I would call them later, but then suddenly I had to rush to my landline phone to call them within 30 seconds to inform I left my cell phone in the car. They gave me of the "option" of traveling all the way to Astoria to get it or the driver returns and charges me $15. Of course I chose to pay the $15 as I already saw how shady they were to feel I might never see that phone again. They could steal it and sell it for all I know. Also the dispatcher was shady. When I called him to inform about the phone he lied that the driver was already on the B.Q.E high way and that it will take him 20 minutes to drive back. Major bull cause it wasn't that long I called the company after the driver took off! Unfortunately, this is the kind of service they represent. If they think they can scam you, they will. read more

Called for a price and was quoted $18 the next day I call for the exact pickup and drop off address and got quoted $27. It was the same person that quoted me both prices. When I told him I was quoted nearly $10 less the day before he did not care. Wouldn't recommend them. Even when I used them in the past they've made me wait numerous times. Shout out to Ecua Car Service on 30th Ave Astoria - my sister's phone fell on floor of cab & we didn't notice. The driver actually trolled the avenue to locate us to return the phone. Sister tried to give small reward & had to almost BEG him to please accept it. This was a refreshing reminder of honesty beyond necessity. read more

Wow! This company has merged with, or absorbed, Hoyt Limo which used to be our "go to" car service. We have used Ecua a few times with no issues, but today they lost a customer for good. After calling for a car and waiting, they texted my wife to inform us the car was at our site. We looked around but did not see the car. She called to confirm the address and was told to "Stop talking now. You talk too much and you need to listen." The rude, phone jockey then proceeded to tell her that she and I we were at the wrong location, when he recited the wrong address. Mistakes happen, but there is no excuse for telling a customer to, basically, shut up and listen. Good riddance Ecua! read more

This is the only car service I use. They let me and my BIG dog in the car without a question. They are always here a minute or two early, and they cars are always spotless and clean. Thiefs! They tried to charge me $25 for what i usually do for $10 just because (my mistake) i gave the wrong address, but the wrong address was on the way to the right one, he actually had to drive one small block to get there but that doesnt justify the $15 extra! I called the office to complain and the dispatcher told me that i was charged more because i asked an suv because I had a large box that wouldn't fit in a sedan, Liar!!!!!! The driver clearly told me that the charge was for my mistake!!!!! Then the dispatcher went to talk with the driver while i was waiting and when he comes back say "but you payd ONLY $20".... what? This is the worst cab service in queens. I called a few minutes ago and explained to the dispatcher that I have a funeral to go to. He ensured me it was only going to be 10-15 min wait. I call back to see where the cab was now it's oh I don't have a car so why tell me 10-15 min oh mama it's another 10 min wait. Unacceptable it's entirety too cold to be standing in the cold. They are the best. Always reliable, friendly, and patient. Their cars are clean and in tact, and they show up 3 minutes quicker than they say they will. I once ordered a huge dresser on craigslist and borrowed a friend's Prius to pick it up. Well, needless to say it didn't fit and I stood in the street panicking with a huge non-returnable dresser and the car parked in a fake spot, as it began to rain heavily. Ecua car service had its moments, but usually good during my time where Ecua was close by my home in Astoria, NY from 2008 to 2015. Prices could be debatable at moments depending on who is the driver, but please take dispatcher's word over the driver's word, especially if the company knows that you're a loyal customer. If you don't care what type of vehicle you're riding on, they're usually prompt, but requesting a SUV or a Van would be hard for them to honor depending on the time and day. Don't expect service when there's too much snow on the ground. There were moments when my dad needed service to the hospital, but no car in sight and no one in the office was even picking up the phone. So we had to roam around Steinway St. & 30 Ave. praying and hoping to pick up some random taxi without a preference as to what company. read more

I have been using Ecua for quite a while now especially late nights, the overnight dispatcher picks up the phone within a ring, he is very professional on the phone and always knows my name! I have called other taxi services who answer the phones with a rude manner etc. Ecua has the best dispatcher! The drivers are always nice and on time!!The cabs are clean and arrive within 4- 5 minutes and get you where you want efficiently. I highly recommend Ecua Car Service!! If I can give them no stars, I would. Last night I left my iPhone in their cab. I tracked it using my bf's phone and it ended up in College Point. But let's talk about the actual cab ride.... My boyfriend, his brother and I hopped in the cab around 7:30 pm on thanksgiving day. The driver asks us where we are headed to and we tell him Best Buy on queens blvd for black Friday. When we asked him how much it would be, he said "hold on" and proceeded to take a personal call. He spoke in Spanish so my boyfriend translated to me that he was going to stop at Astoria blvd to pick someone up. So this was a personal pick-up, his girlfriend/wife/lady friend. After hung up we asked again how much he would charge and he said $20.. Find, it's thanksgiving and you want. $20 whatever, I'm not tipping you especially cuz you're making a stop in the middle of our trip. We came from around the last stop of the N train (ditmars station) and we stopped to get his lady friend around Astoria blvd and 97th street. That is way off from where we were going but whatever I didn't complain. He also mentioned he would go home with her after. So cut to, he dropped us off at best buy and we paid him and I was looking for my phone in my bag. Yes I misplaced it that was my fault but as soon as I mentioned it and we closed the car door they zoomed off. They definitely had my phone. So I called the dispatch and he was rude and very dismissive saying there was nothing he can do, the driver "didn't find the phone" when clearly they found it and turned it off. We asked for the drivers name (even though we already knew it) and they refused to tell us. Luckily we already knew the name, is was a test to see just how nasty the dispatcher was being. He hung up right after he said he wouldn't give us the info. Please please please do not take this cab service they are very rude and unhelpful. I already reported the situation to TLC. The cab driver's name was BERNABE DOMINGUEZ. If you decide to take this car service and see his name in the cab, get out and do not take that cab lol. Apart from this story, they always have you waiting on the phone forever just to catch a cab. Smh never using this company again. read more

I called and the gentlemen on the other end of the phone was rude and rushed. I asked to schedule the car for half-hour from now which apparently they do not do i.e. schedule pickups. Ecuador, spend a couple extra bucks and put someone on the phones who speaks clear and proper English, and has the professional decorum to at least give your customers the perception that your services are quality. The first point of contact is the telephone. If you can't get this right, you just don't get it. read more

The only reliable can service in Astoria. They always get me to where I'm going. The dispatcher is always nice and the drivers are almost always here within 3 minutes. Most drivers are friendly, they talk to you a lot and use their GPS to find the fastest route. I take this service at least 2 days a week so they are reliable. A few things, though : Drivers are ALWAYS ridiculously rude when I say I'm paying with a card. They make the entire transaction uncomfortable by sucking their teeth, huffing, puffing, and even yelling! "Come on!" Too many times I've called for a cab and the line was busy. It stays busy for over an hour. I'm always late to work. They should invest in a call waiting or something. One specific driver never knows where he's going and always charges me a few dollars extra then the dispatcher. So my advice to you is pay in cash and always call ahead so you're not late for something important. read more

Honestly Im not a fan of these car services..im more of a yellow cab person but I live in Astoria and there arent yellow cabs all the time. I cab it from my house to work which is a 5 min. drive. In a yellow cab when i find one its literally $4.50. In a black cab $7 because thats the minimum. So i decided to use Ecua today because I googled car services in my Area and Im not using them ever again. 1st off i told the guy on the phone i needed it in ten min and he said yes ten min. The cab got to my house literally in 2 min. I made him wait like 5min and once we got to my job he told me $8. I asked him what the extra dollar was for since i always pay the minimum $7 and he said i made him wait over 7min. RUDE! read more

There are just a few things that are wrong with this car service: 1) They tell you that the car will be there in 10 minutes but don't get there for 20 minutes. 2) They give you a quote one day and RAISE the price every time you call them again. Within a matter of 5 days they raised the price from $28 then to $32 then to $36. (That doesn't count the cab driver charging me $38 when the dispatcher specifically said $36). And I have gone to the same place every single time. 3) The person who spoke to me over the phone gave me an attitude when I told him my situation. He yelled at me and then hung up on me several times. He did give me the manager's name and told me to call the next day, so I did. It seems he was the one who picked up the phone the next day as well and automatically hung up on me when I asked for the manager. I called back and was put on hold for 5 minutes. The manager apologized for what had happened but that doesn't make up for the time and money that was wasted. I will never be using this car service and will make sure to tell everyone I know just how horrible of an experience I had with them. read more

Ecua was amazing, punctual, always great at getting me where I need to go. sadly the new ownership has let things slack off, the past two times the drivers were late and I'm standing right out in front of my house and they still have a hard time doing that, they don't know the neighborhood.
