Wow. I stopped in for lunch on my way south from Spokane. I haven't had Chinese food that good since I moved here 4 years ago. PERFECT sweet and sour chicken (I haven't been able to find any that isn't overcooked and chewy till now). The owner "Eddy" was super nice and watching him greet all the locals by name was a sight for sore eyes. I will be driving an hour out of town for Chinese food until I find somewhere in spokane this good (if I ever do...). I can't wait to try all the rest of their homemade food! read more

Everything was awesome and most things were made in house. There are two varieties of hot mustard with the BBQ pork, both are great. The tea was amazing also. The potstickers are made fresh daily. The filling is beautifully balanced with sausage veggies and herbs. The handmade egg roll is filled with a variety of veggies and tempura dipped as were the prawns, delicious! The almond chicken and pork fried rice were spot on. The Kung pow chicken with fresh veggies were also amazing, and so well seasoned and balanced. Was excited to go while visiting the area. Well..it is hard to have bad Chinese food. This was that experience sadly . There was only one other table occupied when we went in. There were 2 gentlemen, they stared at us without any greeting. We waited a while for water, and we finally were waited on. This is a nostalgic restaurant, and it brings you back to the 70's. My hubby got When I got the sweet sour prawns, which was so full of breading and oil it was hard to get past. I got the spareibs which were tasty if I had actually more meat then bone. The fried rice, which is SUPER hard to mess up, was oily as well. The biggest disappointment was the chow mein noodles..i was asked if I like the crunchy or soft. I got the crunchy and they were the regular crispy wheat chow mein noodles you buy in a can! We both started to sweat profusely. It was weird, I don't know if it was the MSG, or amount of oil, but we both felt strange for a little bit then it passed by. The staff in this resteraunt need a remedial course in Chinese cooking. While I understand that there's a palate for Americanized Chinese food here, whoever is prepping and cooking the food either doesn't know how to make Chinese food, or doesn't care. As in, I didn't feel like they even tried, and it makes me sad to say that. My food was excessively salty and overcooked, and the only flavor essentially was salt. If the owner or any of the staff reads this, please understand that the food you served was almost inedible. Look in to getting some proper training on the cuisine. Make real food. Soggy, oversalted items swimming in even saltier sauce is not food. read more

Thirty-nine years ago...this place was brand new. Today, time has taken its toll in several ways, yet the decor remains the same. Eddy was quite cordial, delivering plastic coated menus with a variety of specials. Alas, nothing vegetarian or vegan on the menu, but a dish can easily sub tofu for meat. The tofu is of the super soft variety, absorbing the stir fry soy sauce flavor. Although the taste wasn't bad, I'm not a fan of mushy tofu. Plenty of veggies covered my heaping plate. My disappointment was not in food, service, or the 80's decor. It was in the restroom, which, although obviously cleaned, must've been cleaned by a person who is in desperate need of vision adjustment. The baseboard is covered in a 1/8 inch of dust, and the floor vents appear caked shut. Two soap dispensers sit empty - one so antique, it says "Borax" . A medicine cabinet mirror was left agape. The trash can needed a good wipe down, and the wall paper, greater that 39 years, needed replacement or repair, as it was peeling up from the wall. No, this isn't Panda Express. The food is better, veggies crisper. But it is the only place open for a belly-filling meal late at night. read more

Eddy's was maintaining a good level of cool on an extra hot day. The menu heavily features chop suey, pork, fried and deep fried food. I had the wonton soup with less fat and oil than most other items. The wontons were pork supplemented by pieces of chicken in the stock which had a lot of corn starch in it. I stop by Eddy's once a week for lunch break usually on my way back to Pullman from St John. Leon is usually working and he is great at what he does. Sometimes I have special requests and Leon does his best to make accommodations within reason (usually just asking if I can have a smaller order of soup, or a side dish of stir fry veggies). Sometimes it's Leon that cooks my food too, no matter who's cooking the food is great. I usually do their lunch special and the food is on the sweeter side, to be expected for American Chinese as well as the region of cuisine that Eddy/Leon's family draws their inspiration from (Shandong). It's a great value as well, even if I go overboard and get a lunch special plus soup, I'm not paying more than $20 for a great meal. I guess I'm not getting it. Our group of six ate here. The food was not good. No one at the table was impressed. My sweet and sour, or red sauce, was white, it was the oddest thing I've ever seen. I left most of my food behind. It wasn't like any Chinese food I've ever had. Everything looked and tasted different and odd. I don't know what else to say. The Mexican food, Sol Vollarta, in town, was very tasty, though our server was very unfriendly and grumpy. And at the end, she got mad when I asked if I could take the leftover chips home, said no, the chips stay here! Ummm, ok. They will just throw them away, what a waste and lack of customer service skills. Fonks coffee house was awesome. Zips drive in was just ok, like the typical old fashioned burger joint, but their ice cream cones rock. read more

Recommended by locals, we all found it to be really mediocre, overly salted and mostly overcooked food. We ordered three entrees and two appetizers. None of it was tasty or compared favorably to restaurants in other small towns we have visited in the PNW. The waiter, (cousin to the owner) was very pleasant, but owner who delivered our check (we face a 20% tip for the winter) was rather gruff and hurried us out to close. I can understand that he wanted to close at 9pm, but it doesn't hurt to be kind about it, especially to visitors to town. I had the BBQ spare ribs with chow mein. My gf had the almond chicken. To be honest this felt like it was home cooked, and made from scratch. Was it as good as food is in Seattle's Chinatown... Not quite, but it was better then a lot of places I've eaten. Not bragging but I'm half Asian, and I travel a lot, and this place definitely hit the spot. Eddy's serves some of the highest quality Chinese food I have ever had. I have eaten here several times and every single time the quality is consistently great. Eddy himself is a friendly outgoing man who does a great job at integrating his restaurant into the community. My favorite dish has to be the almond chicken. I'm not sure how he gets his sauce to taste as good as it does, but I've never experienced this level of perfection from any other Chinese restraunt. Eddy's offers several menu options that are just as good as the almond chicken. I recommend trying the sweet and sour ribs, the lo-mein, or the beef and broccoli! I ordered the number one combination plate. It was supposed to have pork chow mein, an egg roll and sweet/sour chicken. The chow mein was a flavorless mass of vegetables with shredded pork sprinkled on the top, the egg roll was an indistinguishable mass of vegetables battered and deep fries to mush, and the chicken was smothered in a sickly sweet sauce. The chow mein had a few fried noodles around the edges instead of being served with noodles. My mother ordered pork fried rice which was missing both the pork and any vegetables...it was basically white rice with pork sprinkled on top. While the servers were polite and friendly, it was disturbing to see them wipe down the tables and leave unused silverware from the diners that had eaten before. All I can say is that the multitude of Colfaxians that were seen dining in Eddy's need to experience better Chinese food so they know what they are missing! read more

OK Chinese food-not sure how fresh it is. Ordered the Asparagas with chicken 2 nights- but no brown rice available. Eddy is very personable but.. I was told I could only get one size of the Won Ton soup-extra large-no other portion size.. hmm... Portions are fairly large-was with a group of 6 and it seemed like it took a long time for our orders to come even though 3 of us ordered the same thing.. the special. Hours are limited- Colfax is a small town- Restaurant has plenty of seating -parking behind or street parking. Not sure about the crackers and butter for appetizer-how about the Chinese noodles w. sauces.. Everytime I visit my buddy in the Palouse we go to Eddys they have great combo dinners if you are hungry and the price is always right. I love the small town atmosphere kind of like the Chinese restaurant in Mt Pilot on the old Andy Griffith show. No long waiths either. This place was total TRASH! The food was gross and overpriced. They dip their egg rolls in batter and fry them and charge you $8.95 for two of them and the stuff inside is slop. I had a combination plate with lo mien which was worse than Panda Express by far, Almond Chicken that in no way resembles almond chicken, sweet and sour pork which was probably the best thing there but that's not saying much and dried out fried rice. The total came to $30, which is STUPID RIDICULOUS for the portion and quality! If you are starving, Zips is up the street. read more
