I had a bit of tricky situation and they were so patient with me and really went out of their way to make it happen. THIS is my go-to to fulfill my sweet tooth desires. It's been here ever since I was a child and actually long before I was born! I always feel a warm a fuzzy feeling when I first walk in and then I am immediately greeted with the strong, amazing scent of chocolate since they make everything right in the back. They must be doing something quite amazing and right since the recipes never change and I can always count on them having my favorite mouth watering chocolates. I have been enjoying this gem of one of the last bastions of fine small batch chocolates and candy since I was a kid. They have stuck to the philosophy of fresh perfectly made candies. Everything they make is delicious and is the complete opposite of the mass produced sub-par commercial candy makers. My favorite three things are their coconut haystacks which are perfect, their almond bark chocolate and chocolate covered gummy bears. After reading the reviews, I had to try the chocolate/caramel-covered marshamellow here! And it delivered...sweet milky chocolate covering a thick, chewy caramel and marshamellow. The other items in this jam-packed little store looked fine too, but nothing that really stood out from any other old-fashioned American chocolatier...plus the price of their commerical candies (like Nerds) were inflated probably 300%. When I walked into Edelweiss I had no idea that my two obsessions, I Love Lucy and chocolate were about to come together. Danny a member of the current family that owns this establishment, was a charming guide who kept us riveted with stories of the shop's history including how Lucille Ball received inspiration for the famous "Job Switch" episode. The chocolate: Everything used in the chocolates is made in the shop with original equipment dating back to the early 20th century. Hint: Ask them how they make the chunky peanut butter- heavenly! I bought a sample of all my favorites. My daughter loved the dark chocolate raspberry cream and we both agreed that the french truffles were perfection. This place is a chocolate lover's Mecca! Not sure where all the negative reviews on here come from, but I found this place delightful. It is small, and if there is more than one person in there, you will feel smashed like sardines. That being said, the chocolate is creamy and smooth, and the shop has creative flavors (peanut butter with cinnamon, anyone?). It *is* expensive - I paid $18 for approximately 10 chocolates, which I found a bit excessive, even for Beverly Hills. All in all, it's good (not as good as Neuhaus, the Belgian chocolatier), but good. Try it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wonderful chocolate cherries, chocolate covered marshmallows, gourmet chocolates of every type. They also have the typical candies, licorice, jelly bellies, etc. Whatever you crave they have it. Very expensive, but we only purchase a few chocolates each time. They have a small shop in the Brentwood Country Mart on San Vicente Blvd and 26th Street (no factory there), but the Mart is very convenient and also has many small hole in the wall restaurants and great food to take out to eat outside. I have been coming to the Brentwood Mart for 60 years since I was a child. Much has changed, but the atmosphere is still the same and they have expanded over the years. read more

I called on Tuesday 15 minutes before they close, yes I realize how ridiculous I am, asking to order chocolate covered strawberries for the next day. Unusual Marshmallows! That's not a commentary on my part... That's what my hubby got me for our first married Valentine's Day. Did I mention that I friggin LOVE marshmallows? It literally blew my mind. I used to work in Beverly Hills just down the street from Edelweiss Chocolates, so I was familiar with the "famous old chocolate shop" lore... However, I had no idea that they so perfectly catered to one of my strongest culinary desires. So, this box of Marshmallows has 24 treats inside ranging from plain homemade milk & dark chocolate covered to Mint / Carmel and Coffee flavored mallows. They were fantastic. Way better than an ordinary box of chocolates. I know that all the stuff they make is done in house and I'm sure that contributes to the fresh taste. I'm sure they were a little on the pricey side, but as a very very happy recipient of said chocolates, I have to believe it was worth it. If you are reading this hubby, well done. Please get me a box of marshmallows for every holiday from now... or at least for every Valentine's Day til death do us part... read more

How does this have such good reviews? For me, the chocolates are just okay. Mostly the service isn't great. I went to like 4 different chocolate shops in Beverly Hills (It was my designated chocolate day!) And this place had the worst people. They were not friendly at all, made me actually not want to buy anything, but I came to Beverly Hills to try all the chocolate shops so I did get stuff. They had samples which was nice, but I had to ask for them. She brought out a plate of different ones but she didn't even know which samples they were when we asked. Another lady came out to help and no smiles from her either. I just wanted to get in and out. She kept asking if I was ready too, ughhh I hate that! Let me look at all the choices and decide! I was hoping the chocolate would make up for the service, but it just tasted like regular chocolate you can get anywhere, good, but nothing amazing. I tried both the milk and dark coconut snow caps, and the salted dark caramel. One good thing is that it's cheaper than the other ones I went to. read more

I stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with smiles and a hello even though the employees were helping other customers. They acknowledged my entrance, which speaks volumes about their high-level of customer service. Although the shop isn't overwhelmingly large inside, it had an impressive variety of chocolates. They even had a milk chocolate and dark chocolate for each type of candy. I'm a dark chocolate fan so it was in heaven. At first, I choose the coconut ball but soon found other candies to my liking. Being a healthy guy, I considered for a millisecond but couldn't resist the urge to buy a handful of flavors: almond cluster, coffee, and caramel taffy. After I had ordered, the sale was wrung up without a hitch and always with a smile. It was very easy to see this was a family owned and operated business. These types of businesses usually stand behind their products and Edelweiss was no exception. The random chocolate shop experience surpassed my expectations. I have heard that Edelweiss is under new ownership and maybe that is what is causing these changes. I am a big fan of See's but like to mix it up sometimes and I live close to this store. I used to pay $30 for the chocolate pretzels which I thought was very expensive for about fifteen pretzels in a box. But, my girlfriend enjoys them so I purchased them for her. That was about a year ago. I recently went to buy the same pretzels and they were $40 a box! $30 was pushing it. $40???? That is when I just walked out. It is salted pretzel with chocolate. Not chocolate that will knock your socks off. Just regular chocolate. I can make them at home with my girlfriend and enjoy an evening together with a bottle of wine in the kitchen. I love this store! Been going since I was in high school. My favorite pieces of chocolates would be: Peanut Butter Crunch, Caramellow, Fresh Fruits, and the Chocolate Covered Pretzels are to die for!! It's a really cute cozy store, has been since 1942. I disagree with the other reviews, I don't think $39 per pound is a lot of a box of chocolates in Beverly Hills especially when all the other chocolates places around there are about $70 per pound. You walked in the door and immediately you smell heavenly chocolate. Danny, the owner, was so gracious and invited our group for an impromptu tour of their facility. Who does that? The place was impeccably clean. He showed us the process, told that us the story of Lucille Ball and the famous chocolate factory episode. After hearing that this marvelous shop was once owned by Shirley Jones and her husband and was the inspiration for the famous I Love Lucy episode, we had to stop in. We were met by the current owner who didnt hesitate to give us a tour and tell us some stories about Lucy as this was her favorite chocolate shop...We were shown the kitchen, the antique tools and the famous conveyer belt...afterwards we bought chocolate and the owner posed with us for photos....This IS the best chocolate place Ive been to .... read more

This is my very first Yelp review. I visited this shop a week ago while taking the Chocolate Tour of Beverly Hills for my wife's birthday. I originally thought the richest part of the tour would be the visit to Sprinkles, the original cupcake boutique, unaware of the surprising experience I would soon have. I have had some decent consumer experiences, some not so decent, but Edelweiss Chocolates is the first business to drive me to enter the marketplace of public opinion. I'll first comment on the less important details: the food. I don't like food, I love it! as the insatiable food critic, Anton Ego, once retorted. However, I'm no foodie. For the right price I'll settle for anything decent. Our tour sampled the chocolate covered marshmallows, the unique, famed staple of Edelweiss. I chose milk chocolate. The chocolate was rich yet complimented perfectly by the concealed white puff, resulting in both a sweet and light treat, as opposed to the overwhelming richness that a cream filled center might provide. We eventually purchased their chocolate covered graham crackers, which like the marshmallows and Twix, finely balances the milk chocolate with the texture and complimentary flavors of a non-sweet substance. As for the interior, by no means does this place convey the bold or industrial ambiance that more modern decors boast. And I don't think it's supposed to. Warm colors and a more scattered environment gives Edelweiss a more cozy and homely appeal. The reason why I rate this business 5 stars is perhaps the one reason why any business should receive that kind of rating, assuming a good product. Service. Many a business boasts of "world class service", but exceptional customer service is, sadly, just that - exceptional. And Edelweiss has it. Immediately upon entering the store, we were greeted by a friendly team of women, busy about their craft, and the owner, a woman whose ingratiating kindness and hospitality made you feel like you were visiting your favorite aunt. Though providing the usual tour of her workshop (this store served as the inspiration and training facility for Lucille Ball's famous chocolate job episode of "I Love Luc"), the owner invited us back following our whole tour for further exploration and leisure. And we did. And she continued to share more of the store's heritage and offered enthusiastically for us to take whatever pictures we liked. Furthermore, unlike machine driven chocolate factories, she demonstrated that each and every chocolate is made by hand, patiently dipped, shaped, and shaved to the right precision for the optimal tasting experience. Edelweiss chocolates are true examples of products made with love. For those who demand the absolute best or are just plain picky when it comes to food, this may be the best chocolate you ever had or it may not. For those like me who are easily contented, this will more than satisfy. But regardless of what group you are in, you have one more than good enough reason to visit: service that greets you with a smile and truly makes you feel at home. read more
