A nice hotel in the village of Ellicottville. Couldn't be more convenient for walking around the town. We stayed in the main lodge and the room was simple but quite nice, with new finishings, and very clean. The room was rather large as well. At the off-season rate the price was very reasonable. The grounds were interesting and nice. The 'Brown Stone' and 'Annex Lodge' were less expensive but did not appear to be as nice as the main lodge. This is a mom-and-pop small town hotel so don't expect all the amenities of a big corporate hotel, but again anything you should need will be within walking distance in the village. read more

This place used to be so nice but you can tell new ownership just doesn't care. Steps falling apart. ADA ramp not in use and caution taped off. "Breakfast" would be a stretch with a couple cereals and some prepackaged breads. Half the tables and chairs at breakfast because owner said they were broken. Even a broken chair in our closet. Breakfast starts at 8...sharp. In a town with a ski resort where the resort opens at 8:30. Why it doesn't start 2 hours before the slopes starts I don't understand. Talked to another unhappy guest who arrived at 1:30. Check-in not until 3 and they asked if they could just change in their room (after owner determined it was ready) and they told him it would be $35. Absolutely ridiculous. Will NEVER be back. Used to stay here all the time under the old owners and these new owners couldn't care less about the guest. Just cutting costs and making sure every extra penny is captured from the guest. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Note to self. Do not book online based on pictures or a glorious description. read more

Crazy: walked in the room and it spelled like skunk-not weed- skunk. Walking in to the bathroom I found used bottles of shampoo. The bed had 10 curly hairs all over the pillowcases and under the covers. The heat was not on the room was 10 degrees when we walked in, so cold that when we took our shoes off our socks got wet. I called the front desk and he said if you gave a complaint come see me and hung up on me. I went in and he started screaming at his housekeeper in a different language and then went back behind the desk. We stood there not knowing what to do as he started helping another customer, then cuts that convo off mid sentence and yells "GO BACK TO ROOM! OR THEY WILL NOT CHANGE SHEETS!" Their is more stuff wrong with this place, then their is good. The place smells like smoke, holes in the walls, bed frame has no springs, their all on the floor, the continental breakfast, has two items. I recommend always checking the furniture before sitting, multiple stains on the couch, and the tv you can see the pixels. The worst part is the bathroom, their are multiple stains in the shower, and the toilet you have to holed the nozzle for at least five seconds or else it will keep flushing for 10 minutes straight. Theirs decent wifi, and nice fireplace in the middle of the lodge, only five minutes from holiday valley, that's the only nice compliments I give the lodge. I RECOMMEND DO NOT GO HERE read more

rooms are must and dingy. old and run down. we stayed for one night and booked the reservations weeks ahead of time. new owners tookover and stated there is a "2 night minimum". this was never told to us or anywhere on the websites or hotel reservation sites. new owners charged us double and when questioned they said they would credit our credit card. they did credit our card for one night and then went ahead and charged us again. not friendly or accommodating. read more

If every Bed & Breakfast burned to the ground in Ellicottville I still wouldn't stay at this dump! Let's begin, my wife & I chk in and come to our room. Upon approach the door is open a crack. We walk into the room and my wife notices one of the beds was not made. We look in the toilet and there was urine in it. As we look further NO TOWELS in the bathroom. Because it was New Years Eve there were no rooms available. So I call to the front desk to at least get some towels. I explain my issues and the response I get from the male who answered: "which problem do you want me to answer first?" I said, "how about the towels, can you bring me TOWELS?" His response, "Can you come down here, I got a lobby full of people!" I then asked, "can I grab them later we have dinner reservations in ten minutes." "Yea, and you should've told me about the urine upon chk in, I could have figured out what happened." "HUH?" Not surprisingly when we went to get towels later that evening, I rang the lobby bell at the desk and waited for twenty minutes w no one coming for assistance. I literally cd have walked behind the desk and emptied their register, stolen the computer, etc. So the entire stay we had no towels! The tub was disgusting so there's a good chance we wdn't have used the towels anyway, but a hand towel is usually a nice gesture when staying somewhere! If you choose to stay here in the future I would visit a physician upon arriving home! read more

Our stay was on 12/30/2023 to 01/01 /24 The price was fair we were put up at an annex lodge 402 .the first thing we noticed was the smell of the room it smelled of mold . Asked for another room they were booked up . The carpet was dirty , the toilet was not bolted to the bathroom floor. No toilet brush to clean the toilet, there was an exhaust fan that did not work , the sink did not drain. Getting back to the smell of the room the smell stayed in all our clothes even the ones that were never taken out of our suitcase for five days even after cleaning. read more

Upon arrival we go to our room. As I open the door my nostrils sting with staleness. The air inside our room smells like a pooling gym sock from the 70's which would also match the 70's porn set look of the room. My room featured two doubles so I went back to tell them they put me in the wrong room as I had booked two queens. At first staff argues with me about the beds being queens for a few minutes and then, as if a light switch had been turned on, responds with well I can just charge you less or put you in a room you were supposed to be in. They then walk me to this back building where my new room was. I was surprised this building had rooms as from the outside it appeared unkept and vacant. We walk up this tiny staircase to the second floor hallway while the lights were flickering. I felt like this was a scene from resident evil and a licker was on the verge of merging from the darkness. Anyways so we switch rooms taking us up to dinner time. We get ready and my fiancé starts pounding on the bathroom door. The doorknob fell off and she was locked inside. As if nothing else could go wrong in the first hour of being at this paradise. We then leave for dinner and a family stroll through a couple shops. My son at this point tells me he has to go to the bathroom. I tell him it'll be ok we're a block away, if you have a child you know that I have to go means I'm on the verge of urinating not hey I'm gonna need to go soon. We get there and run up the stairs only to find neither keys work. I go back across the courtyard and a new employee was there and I tell him the key doesn't work. He takes the keys and magnetizes them. I go back and boom door still doesn't work. I run back now frustrated and tell him again. Instead of being apologetic he instructs me that this happens and I should be more understandable. Understandable? My key doesn't work after you've tried twice now your lobby isn't 24 hours so what if you're late good luck. Not to mention I have a child who desperately needs to use a facility at this point yet this was what I could expect for $180. Staff then takes me to the room with another set of new keys and I get in. 30 minutes later we all start getting very hot in the room. I now notice the ac unit works about as well as my first car. I then went to tell the staff who now instructs me well it's a new unit and it worked for the guy before me. Ok, but it's not working now so I guess that's irrelevant. Then he moves onto well it was fine when I turned it on for you. Immediately I asked how that was possible as he wasn't there to check me into the room and then that I turned it on as well when I got into the room. I had had my time of headaches and inconvenience at this point so we packed and left and drove home that night instead. Now it was clear why they were the only place that had rooms available. Long story short, if you're in a pickle and forgot an anniversary, birthday, romantic getaway and needed a room in Ellicottville you're better off sleeping in your vehicle instead of staying at Edelweiss unless of course you have a badge from Raccoon Police Dept and are going to make your run after Albert Wesker. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would! 3rd and final time staying here! The location is convenient which is the only reason we gave it another chance. The staff are so rude!! If u ask for anything, they roll their eyes and act like it's a hassle. We had no toilet paper in our room, it was never cleaned while we were there. They came and took the dirty towels but left our overflowing garbage cans. We never received fresh towels or beds made. The lamps didn't have light bulbs. The coffee pot had spaghetti sauce crusted inside of it. The heat didn't work and we froze all night. The soap dispenser was ripped off the wall and Laying on floor upon check in. The door handle was broken. I could go on and on. Please see attached pictures. We should have received a free stay for all our hassles, but we just left as we couldn't wait to get out of that dump! read more

DIRTY AND DATED! Dont waste ur money. I would have rather slept in my car. Holes in the walls. Hair on bed sheets,crushed crackers on bedroom rug and behind living room couch. I got locked in the bathroom bc handle was broken. We ended up staying at a friends house in eville thankfully!! I called to follow up on Monday and the person that answered the phone was literally arguing with me that the place was clean and well kept. I would nvr recommend this place to anyone read more

We stayed in the main lodge in one of the top floor rooms. Check in was fast and easy, with friendly staff! Room was large and clean, beds comfy and shower large. The fire pit was such a nice way to end the day as well. Can't beat the location being 2 blocks away from all the restaurants and shops, was super easy to just park and walk everywhere. There's a bigger lot out behind the smaller parking lot that we didn't notice at first, so definitely check that out when you're coming to stay! read more

Right down to the smallest detail this place has it. The cobwebs that adorn both interior and exterior is spot on. The left over crumbs, tissues and remnants of past guests is a really nice touch. If dust and holes in the walls are your comfort zone then look no further. A parking lot that resembles the surface of the moon and the cigarette butts in the shrubbery is total shabby chic. When I approached a manager at this fine Ellicotville establishment and commented on the price I was paying and what I was getting in return they said "well you do know this is Ellicotville NY" I must end this joy ride but to sum it all up I have walked into East Village dive bar bathrooms unkept better than this place. read more

There are probably better options close to the same price. The parking lot has two large craters in it. The rooms are somewhat outdated. The shower had a bug in it. Someone left the AC on and the window open when we first came in. Beds were comfortable. read more

Good price and excellent location! Maureen was great at check-in and there are bathrooms downstairs to change if your room isn't ready. We stayed in the main building in a room with 2 queens and then a king in a separate bedroom. Room was big enough to dry out all of the gear overnight. The room was clean. Two TV's, although they lacked picture quality. Bathroom was worn out but clean. Towels and bedding were free from stains and smelled good. The carpet was a little worn, but no stains or smells. From the looks of the other cabins and buildings, they seem a little more worn out. Parking lot in the back was icy but we always got a spot. With all the stairs it took a little longer to get everything in the room. We'll be back to skiing at HV due to the proximity and rates. read more

You cannot beat the location of the lodge, but don't stay there until the renovation is complete or unless you get the room for free.... The cleanliness was awful. We were in the main building the first time we were there a few months ago, which was awesome and new! This time we were put in 202, a supposed "standard queen room" with a pulled up carpet and a full bed. Sorry, not acceptable. When I complained and let them know that the bed was not the correct size (my better half is 6 foot 3 and does not fit in a full bed) she assured me it was a queen. I told her I would walk her across the way and show her that it is not a queen. She then put me in 205, a king room. Bed was huge but there were dead bugs in our room, with a running toilet. Someone had a fly swatter in there and there was dead flies splattered on the walls. So very, very disappointing this time around. read more

I agree with christine. I stayed there last weekend Sept 26,27 &28th. Renovations were being done and I was put in a handicapped accessable room with what also appeared to be a smaller than queen bed. Our refrigerator was in the bathroom between the tub and sink and coffemaker on top. Not very sanitary. No vanity whatsoever so we had no where to keep our toiletries. Hammering right on the other side of our wall till past 7 in the evening. A saw and wood piled up outside our door that we had to step over to get into the room. I complained to the staff or I should say woman up front but she did t seem to care.or think any of these things were inconvincing us apparently. No offer to help and claimed had not a single place she could move us to. I was so very disappointed in my stay. I had booked 2 months in advance and friends we went with booked about 2 weeks before we arrived and had a nicer finished room. Oh and watch your credit card because they got charged for their room twice upon check out. The the lady was arguing with them when they called saying it was impossible and it would take her a few daysn to look into. Overall I would not recommend this place. They should have warned of renovations being done at time of stay before letting us book. Or at least offered something knowing we were not pleased with the room or situation. Hotels.com would not allow me to leave this review. I am happy yelp is. People need to know. read more

I like to start with the positive - the location is great. We were able to walk to get coffee and dinner and to the bars. That's a good thing because we were unable to find a parking spot the first evening after returning from skiing around 11 pm. The room was very dated and you could not make out the picture on the TV. Our biggest complaint is that there is no closet, not a single hanger, not even a hook. There were 4 of us in a room and after a day of skiing, no where to hang any wet clothes. We had to use the ironing board to drape clothes over, which was inconvenient, as the room was incredibly small and cramped as it was. We spent a crazy amount to stay here for 3 nights... Our rate was $299 on Saturday night. I would be hard pressed to spend $100. I wish we would have seen the reviews prior to booking. I feel misled by the description online regarding updated rooms. I also find it funny to read the owner's responses to the reviews on this trip advisor. Instead of making excuses and acting like the reviewer is an idiot, try to fix the issues. This place is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at, and I travel both personally and professionally. Get it together. read more

My fiancée and I planned an impromptu weekend away at Holiday Valley. We found a great deal online and booked our room the day before we planned to arrive. My fiancée accidentally booked the room for the wrong date. We made the reservations through Travelocity and they were non refundable. We called the lodge in a panic around 10pm when we noticed our mistake and John was awesome! He found us a room for the same price on the right night! We didn't have to fight with Travelocity and we didn't have to pay any fees to reschedule. Our room was everything we were looking for and more. We will definitely be back. Thanks John! read more

Had read some previous reviews and were a bit hesitant on staying here but after we did can say that I would stay here again next time I am in the area. Arrived at 1PM and got an early check-in with no problem. Lady working the front desk was very friendly. We stayed in the annex room and our room was perfect for what we needed. The bed was a king size bed and the room had a mini fridge, coffee maker, tv, etc. Bathroom was a little small but was clean and the shower was nice. The location was walking distance to everything which was nice since we didn't want to carry around stuff we bought down there-wine bottles from the winery, leftovers from dinner,etc. we just walked the couple blocks back to the room and dropped things off. We did forget a corkscrew as we planned on having some wine at the end of our night and had went to the front desk at 7PM or so to see if they had one but nobody was around. Not a big deal as we just stopped at the liquor store and bought one of those cheap plastic ones for $2. The bed was not too bad to sleep in and we had fitted sheets(Had noticed a lot of complaints about this and checked when we first got there). Check out was easy as well as you just dropped the keys in a drop box leaving your building. We did not do the breakfast as we were going to Sprague's to eat breakfast in Portville the next morning. The best thing about this hotel was the nice little firepit that they have for guests. We got back to the hotel and enjoyed some wine near the fire at night which is always a bonus. We had gotten a good deal on the room and it was certainly worth the price we paid. I could imagine during ski season that it would be very crowded here but would be a nice place to stay for any occassion. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE: I stayed this past weekend for fall fest with a few of my cousins. We were robbed of $500+ between money and personal items. Clearly it was the cleaners who stole from us, as they entered our room after we left around 9pm. Managers could careless and were offended, saying their staff wouldn't do such a thing. Well its time to hire some staff that isn't criminals. Oh don't worry thought my cousin was told "it was probably the cleaners as we hire outside workers for the holiday weekend." Our stay was overall better than expected based on previous reviews. The location can't be beat, the staff were friendly, the room was very clean, and the breakfast had good food albeit a small selection. My only complaints are that they don't use fitted sheets so that comes undone a lot, there is not fitness room to my knowledge, and finding parking is very difficult when they are busy, you may need to park on the street a block away. Overall a cute lodge in a great location where you get what you pay for. Would stay there again. read more
