The jumbo turkey leg is so heavy that it feels like lifting weight after a while. The turkey leg is juicy but very bland :( Be careful biting into its cartilage. Why have I not discovered the pork shank sooner? For years I have been ordering turkey legs as a ritual to my theme park snackathon. Boy, have I been doing it wrong all this time! Not are they only the same price (about $10 + tax) but the pork shank is so much easier to eat, and a lot tastier in my opinion. The meat is so moist, it practically falls off the bone. Aside from the pork shank, Edelweiss pretty much has everything you need. Pretty much the entire reason why I come to Disneyland is to get my hands on a jumbo turkey leg. 2 of my other cousins and I got one to share, which I definitely regret, seeing as how I wanted to devour the whole entire thing myself. Look for the little Swiss cabin near It's a Small World on your way to the Matterhorn in FantasyLand. Here you'll find turkey leg and corn on the cob. People must have all had the same idea I did. It was about 7pm and a bit cold so I was craving a nice hot, juicy turkey leg ($10.49). The line was about 15 deep and took a half hour. When we got to the front, they were out of buttered corn on the cob so I had to get the chili lime which was ok but I'm not a huge chili seasoning fan. They also have chimichangas and beverages. There's a seating area to eat at right nearby which was nice since turkey leg can get messy so it's better to sit down. The turkey leg and corn was good amount of food to share with my boyfriend, especially since I'm a picky poultry eater. Everyone's reviews I read talked about some awesome pork shank sold here but there were no signs of that here so maybe they discontinued it. While everybody and their moms are filling their faces with gross, dry turkey legs in the rest of the Disneyland resort, you should do yourself a favor and venture here to get the infamous pork shank. My gf Diane & I were feeling a little parched given the weather. We were hoping we would find a lemonade stand, but in return we found something along those lines. Edelweiss Snacks is the 1st place I've ever seen an apple slushee. Maybe I've been out of the loop, but this was a 1st for me. We ordered that immedietely. The service was friendly, drink came out fast, then we were off. I loved the apple slushee, but after a while it felt a little too tart. BF likes the place because 1) it's called Edelweiss and it reminds him of the Sound of Music, one of his favorite movies, and 2) they are the only place to get a pork shank that I know of. Edelweiss Snacks is nestled right by the Matterhorn, close to where the old Motorboat Cruise attraction used to be. Other than chimichangas and corn-on-the-cob, they sell pork shanks, which are very similar to turkey legs as they are huge, but they have a slightly sweet BBQ glaze. It's pretty darn good, worth sharing, and doesn't end up tasting lke ham halfway through, which I have found when eating a Disneyland turkey leg. Unfortunately, no AP discounts here. Even though they aren't quite an ODV (outdoor vending cart), there's no dedicated seating area, but it's situated where you can find a bench (like near the Matterhorn) or a ledge in the Small World mall area or near the smoking section by the old Motorboat Cruise area (not the best choice if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke though) to sit and enjoy your spoils. EDIT: just saw some recent reviews that the pork shank may be no more here. Must investigate during next trip. That would be a great loss should this be gone from the parks! read more

My friends and I were really excited to try the new pork shank at Disneyland. It's been a food favorite over at Walt Disney World and is now being served at Disneyland. You can find it at Edelweiss Snacks and Big Thunder BBQ Ranch in Anaheim. It's $9.49 plus tax and no AP discount since this is considered a food stand. The pork shank is probably the equivalent of the turkey leg. All protein but it's fall off the bone and so delicious. It's like eating a BBQ pork rib without all the hassle of bones. I mean there's one bone but still, it's super freaking delicious. There's a big of extra sauce in a small tub that they give you to dip with but the shank itself is glazed with BBQ sauce. It's large enough to share with a friend so you can split the cost. I am pretty sure my friend wanted it all to himself though. It's easily one of the best things I've eaten in the park, hands down. read more

Reviewing a DLand snack stand. Awesome. This is our little joint for grabbing a coffee and more importantly, either a Chimichanga or Turkey Leg while waiting for the parade to start. If you are into the snow during the holiday times, you know you have to save your spot early on the parade route if you want good seats. A good plan of attack is to bring a few friends or family members, lay out a blanket or mat, and hold the spot with a few people and backpacks while others go get the food and beverages. On a cold December night in Anaheim (70s haha), a coffee is perfect to keep your extremities intact. I believe it used to be just a cart but now it moved into a little structure that actually looks permanent. I guess it was a good spot so they made it official. Anyway, if you're looking for it, go to the front of Matterhorn, look across the walkway under the Monorail next to the people who draw your name with pens and paint for a million dollars and you'll be in for the closest thing to a middle school Taco Snack (chimichanga) that I could find since those days. My bf and I were craving some frozen lemonade and generally they're found at almost every cart but at the moment we were looking, of course, we just could not find a cart near us that had one! And so...I vaguely remembered there was a small stand by the Matterhorn that sold frozen something, so there we went. I was wrong. They didn't have frozen lemonade but they did slushies of other typical flavors (cherry, blue raspberry) except ONE that stood out to us. At that moment, an apple slushy sounded so good when we saw it in the mixer. Surprisingly it was really delicious! Very refreshing and not to tangy or tarty. It definitely quenched our thirst and now I'm wondering if I can get apple slushy anywhere else besides just at Disneyland? Try it out, its pretty damn tasty! read more

This summer, my friends told me of a test run on a new snack item called the bbq pork shank. Apparently it's only sold here and they're trying to see if it's going to fly with the snacking crowds. About $9.49 w/o tax, the pork shank was huge and it came in it's own warming bag, that kept the juices flowing and the bbq toasty. Also included is an extra cup of bbq sauce for those who love to dip. Conclusion: It's pork on a stick!! What's not to like about it. It's juicy on the inside, the bbq sauce made everything super yummy. It was a meal, just like turkey legs except without the tendon strings that always slows people down when chomping on those tasty legs. Pluses: they will give you free ice water in a cup if requested. Also it's got seating areas under the monorail nearby, so you can watch the parade or have a shady spot to sit. read more

This food shack is located in Fantasy Land, near Mattehorn's exit. We only had the pork shanks and they are freaking amazing! One of the best foods in all of The Land. They are huge and fresh and delicious and moist. I could only eat about 2/3rds of mine and I was totally stuffed. I can't remember if it comes with little sides of bbq sauce or if we asked for those, but definitely get some if you like bbq sauce. These are not something you can eat while walking around. Find a table, there are tables nearby, and get plenty of napkins and handwipes. They give you a fork, but you'll mostly use your hands to devour this delicious meat like the animal you are. I think this is currently the only place you can get these pork shanks in Disneyland. They totally rival the giant turkey legs (which are also AMAZING!). read more

So you come here, to Edelweiss, to get a meal much manlier than the giant turkey leg. So tender, and juicy. Falling delightfully off of the bone with each bite. I prefer mine with hot sauce, but there is also BBQ sauce available. The BF preferred it the way it came - in it's honey glazed perfection. We also added corn on the cob.... to make the meal somewhat healthy. At $9.95, it's a steal for all of that protein! I really enjoyed this place. Nice area to sit. At night while the crowd gathers on Main Street to get one of these heavy and huge turkey legs, they wait in a long line. This place no line and right around the corner from the best spot to watch the fireworks. This spot was way better to watch fireworks than Main Street. Just a small stand with a few offerings. I have only had the pork shank but it was HUGE and delicious. So meaty and carried more flavor than expected. Without a doubt my favorite place in all of Disneyland. When I think about Disneyland, the first thing that comes to mind are the turkey legs that are sold here. I brought my mom and dad here because they thought that food at Disneyland was terrible. This changed their mind! The turkey leg is thick, big, and juicy. It is a bit on the saltier side, but you'll hardly notice as you stuff your face with it. Usually a drumstick is easier to eat because there's a natural handle. But these turkey legs are so big that you pretty much need to use both hands to properly eat it. Others have talked about the pork shank here. I think it really depends on your personal preferences. My dad really liked the pork shank better than the turkey leg while my mom and I really liked the turkey leg more. You can't go wrong with either one though! read more

Yum! This is the best place to get your turkey legs and grilled corn. My husband and I ate here when we were at Disneyland. The turkey legs were warm, tender and juicy... So good!! Even the other stands here at Disneyland and Cali Adventure don't compare. Also I ordered the Chili-lime flavored corn (2). Delicious! We came here during our first day in Disneyland, after riding It's a small world ride. We wanted a snack, but did not want to sit down to eat. I wanted to try the turkey leg so I was delighted to find the line for this cart was short. We got one order of turkey leg and frozen cherry drink in a Disneyland Souvenir sipper. The turkey leg was "jumbo", warm, juicy, very tasty. I shared this with my fiance. The sipper is not worth it to get. No free refills =( if you want to reuse the cup, you pay full price for a drink! We were trying to stay on budget with less than $40 a meal to feed 2 adults and a 3 year old so we tried to avoid table service and chose quick service dinning. If you like fried foods, definitely get the chimi because it is so damn good. The corn on the cob is a nice alternative, but don't expect spicy when you order the chile-lime because it is very mild. I had the pork shank for the first time yesterday at the recommendation of my cousin... I was a die-hard turkey leg fan until yesterday. For those of you who are on a budget and have opted for a low carb diet, you can't go wrong with either the turkey leg or the pork shank. Unfortunately, the pork shank isn't as available as the turkey leg (which can be found in several places throughout the park, the pork shank is found near the Matterhorn ride. This is a definite try for most! It was so good, I'm tempted to make a trip there later on this evening to pick up a couple of them just for dinner! :) read more

This is the only snack place aside from the Ice Cream Parlor that I would buy from. The pork shank is the only thing that I would buy from this place and for what it is and for the price, I think it is way worth it because of how wonderful the pork tastes and you can tell that they've been slow cooked since the meat basically falls off their bone since its that tender and the taste of the pork is off the chain! I love the marinade they've used to cook the pork shank with. Writing this review is currently making my mouth water because I can perfectly imagine how the pork shank tastes like. The pork shank also comes with their bbq sauce and its pretty tangy for what it is but still compliments the pork shank. This is the only location that sells pork shank and seems like a lot of people are discovering this great snack which makes Edelweiss sell a lot of pork shanks and having them sold out fast :( read more

** YELP 100 CHALLENGE: 021/100 ** So, a few weeks back, while deciding on an itinerary for our Disneyland trip, my friend insisted we try some pork shank that he heard from others to be really really good. Using my trusty Yelp app, I searched "pork shank" in Disneyland and Edelweiss popped up. 4.5 stars and 1 $? Seems promising! Edelweiss Snacks is a little stand located in Disneyland right next to Small World, so it was hard for us to find, but when we did, there luckily was no line. They serve a variety of snacks, including turkey legs, pork shanks, and chimichangas. I was debating between the turkey leg and pork shank (since I've never had either of them), but ultimately got the pork shank. I also got the Frozen Apple drink, since I knew I'd need something sweet to wash down the meat. Well, as all the past reviews mention, the pork is very tender and falls right off the bone. The flavor is delicious, and I highly enjoyed my meal. However, I think one entire pork shank may have been too much for just me to eat. The other two boys in our group shared one, so they thought I was a beast for just ordering one all to myself. I ended up only eating about 3/4 of it before admitting defeat, handing the leftovers to my boyfriend. If I ever do decide to get it again, definitely DEFINITELY sharing it next time. Not only is it huge, but the flavor can get very tiring after a while. Oh and the frozen apple was simply delicious. I've had it before on one of my visits to Disneyland from some stand in Toontown, so I was very happy to see Edelweiss sold it, too. It tastes just like frozen apple juice, and is the perfectly refreshing blend of tart and sweet. I loved it so much, I got another one right before leaving. The pork shank ended up being around $10 with tax, and (correct me if I'm wrong) the passholder discount isn't accepted here. But hey, for Disneyland food, it's not a bad price. The first item I'll touch on is the turkey leg. I'm not a huge fan of turkey legs. I like the first outer layer but I eventually grow tired of the rest of it (cartilage, bone & darker meat). Nevertheless, the family always splits a turkey leg or two sporadically throughout our trips to the park. They're a staple and more Of a novelty item if anything. Next are the chimichangas. I don't understand what it is about these suckers, but I love them. They're nothing special but I just can't get over them. Maybe it's the perfect crunchy tortilla or the piping hot filling. Maybe it's the hot sauce packets that come with it. Maybe there's something in the water at Disneyland that just makes me crave these foods that I wouldn't normally crave. Whatever it is, I don't even care. Give me a chimichanga as I sit on the ground waiting for the fireworks show and I'm one happy camper. The last and most important item I want to talk about is the pork shank of all pork shanks. Holy cow...no...holy pig! Over our latest 4 day journey to disneyland, we stopped at the stand numerous times in hopes of scoring the elusive pork shank. After several failed attempts I decided enough was enough. I would get a pork shank if my life depended on it. On our last night I went back to the stall and asked how long the wait would be for a pork shank. I was told "10-15 minutes" multiple times. About an hour later I was irritated and questioning whether I would ever get a pork shank or if I would die waiting on the bench across from the stand. The cart of freshly cooked shanks rolled up and I made my way to the stand in what I can only describe as a slow motion movie style run. We purchased two shanks and they came with cups of BBQ sauce. These bad boys were so juicy, so tender and so worth the wait. They fell off the bone and had great flavor. The sauce was perfectly tangy and sometimes I still drool just thinking about it all. I enjoyed it so much that I'm writing this review almost 5 months later at 2 in the morning. Night time craving, what can you do? I'm going to have to put this place in the "good idea on paper" category. I always see people walking around the park eating those huge turkey legs, and they smell soooo good! My husband has been wanting to try one forever, and I finally gave in at the park last night. I ordered one turkey leg, a chili lime corn on the cob, and a bag of chips for the kids. The total was about $19, $10 of which was the turkey leg. It was actually really good, super hot and tender. The problem is the obvious issue: it's a REALLY messy meal to eat at an amusement park! A turkey leg has a lot of little bones, which made it tricky to navigate. The corn was pretty tasty, and a good treat for when you're trying to eat semi-healthy at the park (as impossible as that can be!). Overall, I'm not sure I would get the turkey leg again, but it was worth the try. read more

The turkey legs around the Park is good. But the pork shank is a must! Huge hunk of porky goodness. Tender, falling off the bone. Slow roasted so actually fat mostly dripped off. At about $9.50, great value. Prefer it over turkey which can be a bit too salty. If my gout wasn't acting up, would've eaten more. read more
