I'm a fan of starting seeds - the whole process of browsing a catalog, placing an order and waiting for my shipment to arrive. There's something about prepping seed trays, dropping a seed or two into the slots and providing water so those little seeds can sprout that soothes my soul. I'll never know why I thought I could get away with buying seeds off Amazon and have success. Same process, only not one seed sprouted. Zero percent germination. Oh I waited. Five days. A week. Fifteen days. Nothing. So I placed an Eden Brothers order and got back to work. And you know what? Three days in and these seeds had life! Seven days later, 100% germination. I ordered Canna bulbs that somehow were routed to Alaska instead of staying in the lower 48, to the west coast. I reached out for help, and was told they should be fine. Told to wait. Well, they never came up. I waited 2 seasons for them and now Eden says since I waited, they will not refund me. I waited, like they told me. Everything else in my garden returns. These never came up and EdenBrothers said -too bad, here is 20% off. The same 20% that everyone can use, by the way So it was really frustrating to get this response. My mistake was trusting Eden Brothers to back their products. This is not the only poor performance I have had from Eden Brothers products, but this is the one that will make me remember to NEVER get anything from them again. I ordered 2 varieties of seeds. The packages do not include photos of the product which makes it difficult to identify the seeds when going through my seed collection. I later ordered bearded iris rhizomes, a variety called black suited and a collection of 4 "Tall Red Bearded" varieties. They arrived as scheduled and I planted them immediately. The collection was extremely disappointing. Varieties were not labeled and one rhizome was so dried out that I thought it wouldn't grow. I nursed all of them and all of them did grow. However, so far 2 of the 4 "red" varieties bloomed - except that one plant was a dwarf variety with yellow and dark mahogany blooms. I tried to write a review of the red irises, but due to a system error, the review form never generated. I called customer service. At first they offered me a $10 store credit for the wrong color plant. A $10 store credit for a collection of 4 plants that cost $48 from a company I'll never do business with again? Really? They finally did offer a $48 credit to my bank account. Still waiting to see if it processes. read more

I recently placed an order while in the middle of moving. I got a message stating my bulbs were delivered but I could not find them. So I wrote to Eden Brothers and told them I could not find the bulbs. They offered to give me a full credit so I could replace the bulbs. I was amazed because it was not their fault that I could not find my order. I found out where we had moved to had a special delivery way for packages that would not fit in my mailbox. I finally found that place and my order. I was so amazed that Eden brothers was willing to give me a credit when it was not their fault. While they offer a nice variety of bulbs and seeds, the growth success is hit and miss. Very inconsistent. I have ordered three times from this company with essentially the same results. As noted in previous reviews, the customer service is not service at all, they are quite rude and dismissive. Also, if free shipping is offered for purchases over $x, the customer should get free shipping for spending that total amount. It should not matter if a coupon is being used. Change the language, or allow shipping codes to be applied in combination with other coupons. read more

This company is in the dark ages. I bought two bare root Patty's Plumb last fall for $30.47 with free shipping. They never came up in the Spring. I am a gardener of poppies in which I have enjoyed great success so I know the bare roots they sent were subpar. After contacting them by phone they emailed me this list of questions: * Were the products in good condition when they were received? * When were they planted? * How warm has it been since they were planted? * How deep were they planted? * Did your planting area receive consistent sunlight and moisture after planting? * Please include a photo of your planting area*** After answering all their questions and following their instructions to the letter they deemed me worthy of a refund but said they can only issue a paper check refund which I just received today after one and half months. The check amount is $19.59. Even though my email said I would expect $30.47 and they did not quibble or email saying that was the wrong amount and that they would be short changing me $10.88. To go through this whole time wasting rigamarole and then be short changed is just not worth the trouble when you can order from more reputable nurseries like Blue Stone Perennials which issue you a credit via your original credit card payment on the spot without a botanical inquisition. Eden refused to refund me when I asked why I never received the items I paid for. This was the response (which is total lie btw I called the post office and they don't recycle tracking numbers every 120 days and this took place in July or less than 120 days): "Unfortunately, USPS recycles tracking numbers after 120 days, which is why you are getting that message. As it has now passed 120 days, we aren't able to determine the tracking and delivery of this portion of the order. We have included a copy of the original invoice below. As we note in our Return/Refund Policy, missing products must be submitted to Eden Brothers within 30 days from receipt of the package. As it has surpassed this timeframe, we are unable to offer any means of resolution. We sincerely apologize that we are unable to be of more assistance!" read more

I purchased 10 Siberian Iris Roots as well as Deer Resistant Wildflower Seed Mix on January 10th. My email confirmation states that the roots are Fall Planted and Ship in the Fall: Deer Resistant Wildflower Seed Mix × 1 1/4 Pound HB20011 Siberian Iris Roots - Black Flowered × 1 10 Roots / Fall-Planted | Ships in Fall The shipping confirmation also included the following disclaimer: "You ordered fall-planted bulbs, which ship when it's time to plant in your area. Some bulbs begin shipping as early as August; others may not ship until mid-October depending on your growing zone. The shipping dates for all fall-planted flower bulbs can be found by clicking here. We recommend unpacking and planting your bulbs as soon as possible after receipt." When the package arrived, I fully expected it to contain just the seed mix. When I opened it a few days later, I was surprised to find the Iris Roots inside. I emailed customer support regarding this error, and received a return message from Reuel on 1/23/2022 saying that these particular roots ship now and that was denoted on the shipping confirmation, Reuel further went on to state that the roots need to be put in the ground upon receipt or they will rot. I again asked Reuel to READ the shipping confirmation which plainly stated Ship in Fall. He/She responded with a non-response stating only, "At this point, your best option is to plant these items." Frustrated with the vague email response, I decided to call customer support and ask for assistance. I explained the situation to Stacie on the afternoon of 1/23/22. Her response was that her manager was "out of the office" and she couldn't do anything without management approval. She promised a return call on 1/24/2022 before 5 pm. Thank goodness I didn't hold my breath, as it is well past 5 pm, and of course, no return call. At this point, I am stuck with rotting bulbs that are not supposed to be planted in January, as well as a commitment to warn all potential customers of the abysmal service at Eden Brothers. Hello, I am reaching out to share a serious concern that significantly impacts the environment. This last summer I ordered 2 packets of Eden's Pacific Northwest Wildflower Seed Mix. Given the title, I thought these flowers were native to the Pacific Northwest region. But I later learned that many seeds were not native, so I decided to wait to sow the seeds. Coming into Spring, I reconsidered using the packets. However, upon research of the various seeds inside the PNW Wildflower Seed Mix, I learned that many in the packet are invasive species, and are listed in the Invasive Plant Atlas of the United States. Same for the state of WA. Some examples are: Baby's Breath, 2 kinds of Cornflower, Foxglove, Lance Leaf Coreopsis, 2 kinds of Cosmos.  Invasive species have contributed to the decline of 42% of U.S. endangered and threatened species, and for 18% of U.S. endangered or threatened species, invasives are the main cause of their decline. Invasive species compete directly with native species for moisture, sunlight, nutrients, and space. Overall plant diversity can be decreased. Establishment and spread of invasive species can also degrade wildlife habitat. Other issues are degraded water quality, and increased soil erosion. These impacts change nature's balance on which all species depend. Therefore, I called Eden again to see if I could get a refund or exchange, and to inquire as to why they would contribute to such a huge problem in relation to environmental health. I was told they could not give me a refund or exchange because it had been past 15 days. This is on me, I should have researched more fully sooner, but I made the mistake of trusting such a large company. This is one of my concerns, given how large of an impact Eden is having, and the negative consequences of their practices and standards. When I asked if they would reconsider offering such invasive, non-native species for the PWN blend, they said they didn't need to because they just need to follow the "industry standard". The representative on the phone did not seem to care that they had invasive species in their mix, so I simply asked if he could pass along my concern of them promoting invasive and non-native species for specific regions. This feels very unethical and out of integrity for the significant issues at hand with climate change and biodiversity loss. Just because something is an "industry standard" does not make it ethical or right, and seems like an excuse to avoid responsibility. Money should not be a final deciding factor of how and why we do business if harm is occuring due to current practices in an industry. Yes, some flowers may be more popular and beautiful than others, but as humans we have a responsibility to be stewards for a healthy planet, people, and wildlife. We are barely scratching the surface with our understanding of the consequences of our actions and the impacts on ecosystems, the planet and people. I share this simply to bring awareness, and to encourage supporting organizations that care to do the right thing, and sell local, native, organic healthy seeds and plants. read more

I spent some time looking through the flower and vegetable seed choices. Mind you only one package was 1 ounce the rest were just regular packets. I was happy to receive 20% being a first time customer. After putting in my info I was shocked to learn that 6 seed packets was going to be $15.00 to ship! Over half the total price of the seeds. I kindly exited this website never to be back. If it were bulbs sure I can see that but we are talking small seed packets. To keep it in perspective I ordered two live roses quart from another online store and paid $10.00. I definitely will not be a customer of Eden Brothers. read more

Best seed company I have worked with by far. I have had two issues with them and Ezekiel was prompt and quickly handled the problems by going above and beyond what was compensatory in my mind. I have built my seed vaults quite extensively with their products. To the people complaining about bulbs and rhizomes...I treat my plants like my pets. Would you air ship your dog in the cargo hold of a plane across the country? Didn't think so. They are very fragile and alive. I live in California and would not ship them so far. I'd advise you find a local grower. I have a consistently ~90% germination rate with all the seeds from Eden Bros. I have learned my lesson now, but in the early days I would spend months thinning them out. Thanks Eden Bros. my garden is looking great. read more

I live in southern New England & ordered $200 of tulip bulbs from Eden Farms in early summer for September delivery. Lo and behold, come mid October - none of the bulbs had been delivered, nor had I received any updates on my order. I called customer service - the woman was friendly but basically stated most of the bulbs were still unavailable. She stated that most of the bulbs I had ordered had come in (didnt say when) but had not been in good shape so they sent them back. While that may be true (prob not), they should've contacted me ASAP instead of holding onto my funds for months. Really unprofessional and shady. They either need a new source for their bulbs (duh) or need not to charge customers until the bulbs they ordered are ACTUALLY in stock/received by Eden Farms & - bottomline - they DEFINITELY need to keep customers updated on their orders. sorry to say - based on my experience - don't bother with Eden Farms. Unfortunately this company can't seem to get it right with Elephant ears. This is the second year I've bought from them. Last year the products they sent weren't what I ordered. Their comment was that the warehouse must have goofed since, "they all look alike..." So I took their credit and ordered again this year. Some of the plants came up but the Mojitos had a 67% failure. The Diamond heads had a 33% failure rate and the Jumbo Upright also had a 33% failure (not sure yet if they are actually jumbo either). Also found it rude and wrong that when I reviewed each of these items on their site they didn't post the review. P.S. They have a huge failure rate with other things too. It took two years to get the hostas correct, had to have dahlias reshipped last year since they were so small, the hyacinth bulbs had 40% failure. So. I'll be looking elsewhere. Don't waste time and energy with this company's products. read more

Purchased 4 canna Australia rhizomes. The rhizomes arrived and were very disappointing. Only one had two eyes. The other three had one one eye and were partially rotted. I removed the rotted portions in attempt to save them, but with only one eye I am pretty sure they are not viable. I overwinter canna rhizomes with great success and have done so for years. As a gardener, I would have been embarrassed to pass the Eden Bros. Australia rhizomes on to a fellow gardener. I am angry that I spent nearly $30 for one viable specimen. Live and learn. read more

I orded two sets of Canna Lily rhizomes - mixed dwarf. The bags said there were five rhizomes in each bag but each bag contained only four rhizomes. Also there was no indication of what color the plant would be. read more

We received our oder today of 5 packages of dahlias that were very dry, extremely small tubers, few to no eyes, wrapped in plastic, no Peet. I will not buy from this nursery ever again prefer Swan Island for far superior quality of tubers. read more

They will charge you for your items, and not ship them. No phone contact is available, only canned email responses. Every other bulb company that I ordered from this fall shipped in a timely fashion. Eden Brothers has not, nearly a month later. It appears that many customers have been waiting even longer. This company doesn't deserve my business, or to even be in business. All they do is send DAILY spam to your email, shilling products that appear to not even be available to ship. Shameful. read more

There are two standout things that I really dislike about this seed company, and why I won't be ordering from them again. First - the product itself. Their seed packets arrive in generic "Flower Seeds" envelopes with generic "Flower Growing" information on the back of the envelope -- the envelopes are missing specific growing information about the varietal. So, I went to the website to find specific growing information for the seeds and the website is missing basic things like plant spacing, germination time, days to maturity, etc. I had to go to other websites (like Dave's Garden) to find growing instructions, and also emailed the company. The name of the varietal is on the back of the envelope, on the bottom. Maybe it's because I'm in software, but this is a terrible user experience! If I am like most home gardeners, I keep my dozens of seed packets in a ziploc bag inside a container, which I quickly flip through to grab seeds. ALL of the Eden Brothers envelopes look exactly the same, and to know which is which you have to pull out the envelope and look at the bottom back for the name. So I've resorted to writing the names of the seeds on the front in magic marker. Second - Dahlia shipping problems. I ordered several different types of dahlia tubers. When I opened my first tuber delivery I noticed I was missing 4 Cafe au Lait tubers, which are REALLY IMPORTANT for my wedding bouquets, and by now are completely sold out everywhere else. So I emailed the company, and they said they'd get them in the mail for me. I received them as promised last week, but only 2 of the 4 tubers, with no mention of any more to come. I just emailed them. I hope they actually have 2 in stock, since I bought and paid for these in December. Moral of the story: Avoid at all costs, and go for Botanical Interests based in Colorado (my personal favorite - their seeds are amazing), or Baker Creek, or Johnny's, which all seem to have better operations and standout germination rates as well. (Eden Brothers was recommended to me by a flower grower that I met who has used them for seeds in the past. So I decided I would try them out this year for flower seeds. Bad idea!) read more

Not sure why so many neg. reviews. I am recently retired and new to gardening. Having so many choices it was a task to pick an on line nursery. I did not want to go the big box store route as they clearly do not need my money and smaller retailers are hurting esp during this covid mess. I went with Eden bBrothers. Anyway, I have ordered a few pounds of wildflower seed as well as some bulbs. My only disappointment was the elephant ear bulbs (illustris) were the size of pecans whereas they are described as being much larger (5-7 inches on label) and similar bulbs in Home Depot are the size of grapefruits. I was disappointed as I spent $12/bulb. I contacted Eden Bros. and expressed my concern. Same day I get a response from Stacie in customer service. An apology as well as offer for refund or store credit +20%. I went with the credit. They are honorable and have earned my repeat business. Only thing I would add and question is if the correct size bulbs are NOT available from your growers it might be a better strategy to not send tiny bulbs and simply explain to customer the situation. Maybe a choice between money back or double the amount of bulbs. Just a thought from a new gardener. In closing I have nothing but respect and accolades for Eden Brothers. read more

I ordered 3 products a couple of months ago. 1 of my items was missing from the order. I emailed them to say I did not receive part of my order. They stated it should have been in the order according to the warehouse. After some back and forth and a phone call later I still have no resolution and my impression of their customer service is this - Their service reps are combative, defensive and don't understand how to deal with unhappy customers. Delighting the customer is not something they care very much for. After spending hundreds of dollars with these folks I will not be doing any future business with them, and I'd advise to anyone else considering this company to look elsewhere. read more

This is where I buy all of my seeds, except obscure ones like ramp seeds. Their warehouse is very large and has a great selection of seeds and bulbs. You can find all kinds of flower seeds including the ones that should naturally grow here, edibles, crazy sunflowers and more. I love the nasturtium selection also. I've called numerous times between the business hours of 9am to 5pm answering machine comes on, can't leave message. I wished I would have read Yelp, FB and Google reviews as well as BBB reviews. Apparently this is nothing new with this company. I have no other choice but to file a dispute with the CC company to get a refund for a product that was NEVER shipped. I have ordered from this company for several years and have been pleased with the products--the bulbs have grown really nice. One thing I did not like was the seeds that come in generic packets and have no specific instructions whatsoever. All seeds are not created equal. But that aside, last year the bulbs never arrived. I placed an order for quite a large number of various bulbs in August, told that they would ship in October. Well no bulbs. I emailed, and emailed, and then get a response that there was a problem with the lillies coming from Europe. And that they were "holding" my order until then. I emailed back and said I don't want my order held and please ship what you have now--as I want to plant the bulbs while the weather is nice. No response. Tried several more times. No response and no bulbs. Come November I get an email with an apology that the bulbs are delayed, thanking me for my patience, and that they will ship soon. Well here we are in November and they still haven't shipped. I emailed back demanding my bulbs. No response. Finally it was almost thanksgiving, and I get a response that I can still plant bulbs as long as the ground isn't frozen. But no bulbs. So am I going to go out and plant when its chilly and wet out--we get a lot of rain. I told them not to bother as the bulbs would just have to be tossed since I wasn't planting now. They actually did refund my money, but I as so pissed off. If they couldn't ship they should have said so up front, which would have given me a chance to purchase bulbs elsewhere. So I told them I have been a good customer but will never buy from them again. And I removed myself from their mailing list. And fortunately, I do have a lot of bulbs from last year that have broken ground, so I will have early spring flowers afterall. But I advise to stay away from this company. I had ordered Dahlia tubers recently because 4 of my 26 Dahlias didn't make it and I wanted replacements. I had requested to ship out my order ASAP because it is pretty late for planting tubers. When I finally got my order, I had prepared the planting area and wanted to plant right away. To my huge disappointment, the tubers were in very bad shape. They were old and dried out and not able to be used. I took photos and forwarded them via messenger on Facebook. I have not received any response besides a greeting form that they received my information.....nothing else. I was addressed in their form letter as a "Valued" customer. If this is how they value their customers, I will go somewhere else. UPDATE: The company contacted me and offered a refund. I guess we are square now. Though it wasn't a good experience in the beginning, in the end, they took responsibility without offering lame excuses. I am getting my product somewhere else now. read more
