I called during the week and spoke to Mark he let me know the pricing for 1 hour tour and 2 hour tour. Very reasonable price you are provided with a helmet. And instructions on snowmobile basics. We came today for a 1 hour tour and I walked into the building and was greeted by his cute dog Scooter reminded me right away of our puppy at home! We filled out paperwork for 5 minutes and got our helmets. Then we went around back and were shown the proper dos and dont's to snowmobiling. Mark made me feel very safe and asked us if we had any questions made sure we felt comfortable. My fiancé and I went on the 1 hour tour and had so much fun we decided to so a 2 hour tour right after! It was worth it! And will be sure to come back and refer Mark snowmobiling business to all my friends who come up to Jay Peak. He made our trip very memorable!

The moment we meant Mark (owner and tour guide), we knew we were in good hands and in for one heck of a ride. We weren't wrong! Mark has a dozen or so of very new sleds that have plenty of zip for probably even more experienced riders. He knew all of the trails, and above everything - has a true passion for what he does. Give him a call and sign up! They are private tours, so you'll be in for an intimate ride with just your group (as far as I know). ProTip: You'll be sore the next day! The meeting place was the visitor center. Got there early. We watched an 8-minute video at the visitor center. Though optional, the video would help you visualize and understand some things that would be discussed during the tour. We then had a quick orientation about the tour and house rules before driving to the observation site which was located at a different site. There were no shuttles that would take visitors to and from the observation site. You will have to use your own vehicle. We and other visitors on that tour followed the tour guide with the convoy of our cars to the observation site of the quarry. Rainfall was moderate at that time. Our tour guide lent us umbrellas. The tour went on but we did not stay there as long as we should have because of the weather. We learned interesting bits of information and saw a nice view from above; however, if you are expecting to go down the quarry near the turquiose water, you will be disappointed because that will not happen. The tour is just at the observation deck above the quarry. After this, one can go back to the visitor center area and do the self-guided tour at the building beside the it which houses workers who do different sculptures, etchings on the granite for tombstones, etc. The experience was alright overall.

It's…read morearound 600 feet deep and half filled with a beautiful turquoise pool of water that contrasts so perfectly against the varying shades of the cool, gray granite! You can only see the magnificence of the massive quarry on a guided tour but it's very reasonably priced at $6.50 per person. You pay and meet at the visitor center and then your guide will take you up. Their website mentions that they shuttle you - but actually you follow the guide up in your own car. You do have to drive up a gravel road but it is a slow drive uphill and is well maintained - we had zero issues. They run several tours a day but it's seasonal - looks like they start running tours around June. I visited in early October. I highly recommend the tour - our guide was engaging, fun, and soooo full of fascinating facts about the quarry! It was established in the Victorian Era (1885) and was mostly worked by the Scottish!! How random, right?? Apparently the Scots were expert granite harvesters! There's so much more fun info - no more spoilers from me! So the tour is fun but the star of the show is the view up at the top - I mean, the quarry itself is quite a sight - but you also have gorgeous views of the Vermont hills and it's even more striking in the autumn splendor!! The visitor center itself is like a museum! So much history and fun facts! They provide granite for so many headstones - and tons of famous ones. There's also a gift shop, clean bathrooms, and even an outdoor bowling alley! They also have a huge pile of "grout" which is just scrap pieces of granite (a Scottish word for it haha) - and you are free to take whatever you want from the pile at no charge!

Hannington was the most gracious partner in planning this special day (he picked us and all of my son's friends up at our home and took us to our favorite playground so we could get our ya-yas out for an hour and then we reboarded to come home). Hannington hung balloons and decorations inside the trolley and played some of my son's favorite music. We were able to serve birthday treats, snacks, and seltzers/juice boxes on board. City tours called us and warned us of the problem and delay which was fine, as we were being picked up at our hotel. They resolved the problem quickly and our guide was there and ready to go within 15 minutes of the originally scheduled time. Our guide Lauren was fantastic! She handled the mishap with grace and without skipping a beat. City tours had to have Ubers take us from brewery to brewery which worked out perfectly fine in the end. On to the tour itself, we were a smaller group, which I loved! We stopped at 4 locations and we sampled A LOT of beer. (I don't understand the reviews saying you barely get 3 drinks because by the end of it my husband and I could barely drink the last beers) We got behind the scenes tours at 2 of the breweries. Goodwater was my personal favorite. Lauren gave us a phenomenal history lesson along the way, which I fully nerded out to. All in all, it was a really fun experience that both, my husband and I, would recommend trying!

We did the hike in first week of June and it is very nice and easy. Our first attempt was back in mid April. The trail was still covered with snow. This time going back, the trail looks totally different and more enjoyable. My recommendation go in the month of June and till there is snow in Vermont.
