This review is for the Adventure Center specifically. I wanted to love the experience but the staff is very scattered and the process to rock climb is ridiculous. We tried to climb multiple times and were told to come back. When we did come back at the right time (two separate times) they said the time changed. They don't let you reserve in advance (which would alleviate this problem) but most of all the staff was super rude and went out their way to be unhelpful (Katelyn from st albans - most of all). They could easily have helped but they did not and walked away with us standing there with upset kids (for the third time) For a cost and supposed level of service-- this is shocking. Been a big advocate of this resort my whole life but the atmosphere has sadly changed. read more

Our tour group took us here, for the Gondola View for Falls colors. I'm not disappointed, there were lots of snow up there, by the time we got there, it was very windy, and we're dressed like winter. Inside the upper building, there are shops, restaurant, a coat section with warm setting, and restrooms. We weren't having lunch here, it was packed! We already made plans, to eat elsewhere. Going up or down, even though it was foggy, and spitting, we were able to enjoy some of the view of the season! The gondola ride was still pretty amazing, being up there. It was fun! read more

Stowe is a great mountain and has an assortment of trails. I recommend getting there early regardless of a weekday and especially on the weekends. The shuttles run efficiently through all of the lodging on site. Stowe has much faster lifts and gondolas and they run well compared to other local mountains. Although their signage is a bit confusing if you've never been to the mountain before. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful on the entire property. read more

Stowe is hands-down the best mountain in the Northeast--terrain for everyone, from first-timers to advanced skiers/boarders who consider Goat (the BEST trail for skiers) a spiritual experience (yes, it's that good). Fantastic double diamonds for the northeast to challenge you. Infrastructure is top-tier, and the main lodge is massive with food that's solid, if overpriced... but hey, so is everything that comes with snow and a $180 lift ticket. Now, the downsides. Charging just to sit at the top of the gondola? That's not après-ski, that's après-weird. The old open lodge setup felt like Vermont hospitality; now it feels like you're being upsold a table with a view. And those lift lines? Some days they're longer than the line for a new iPhone. I've been coming here from the 80's! Bottom line: Epic terrain, stellar infrastructure, and unforgettable trails--just bring your wallet, your patience, and maybe a folding chair for the summit. read more

Okay mountain. Don't ever forget to pay for parking on the weekend. I'm a regular and pay for parking frequently and of course the one time I forget I got a $100 parking violation, absolute BS. Crazy how there is no first time violation or something along those lines. Fuck these massive companies that are taking over the mountain. Way too expensive. If you're planning a ski trip in the northeast and deciding between Stowe and another mountain, choose the other mountain. Few reasons that make Stowe less than ideal: 1) The longest lift lines in the east. We skied on a Friday & Saturday on a standard (non-holiday) weekend and waited at least 30 minutes every time, regardless of it was a lift or the gondola. There simply are not enough ways to get up to the top of the mountain, they need another gondala line and more lifts (there are really only 3 on the main mountain). The Spruce Mountain side has quicker lines but those runs are very short and only take about 90 seconds so you'll get tired of that side real quick. 2) The gondala is SO slow. It takes 15 minutes from base to summit. Add that to the 30 minute wait for the gondala and that's 45 minutes you spend for a 5-7 minute run back down. The juice ain't worth the squeeze. 3) I've skied at 4 different resorts this year (including some out west) and this was by and far the most expensive lift ticket. $485 for two days is absolutely insane to me. Especially considering how few runs we got in due to the outrageous lift/gondola lines. Not to mention, we rented skis and boots at the mountain (Spruce Rentals) and they were $220 for the two days. 4) All the bars at the base of the mountain close at 5 (except Whistle Pig, which is tiny and easily reaches capacity) which forces you to leave the resort in order to aprés ski. Not cool. 5) Stowe itself (as in the town) is so spread out, you'll find yourself driving 20 minutes from base to town. So prepare to spend a good chunk of your time if you want to go to dinner or a bar at night. This is truly the worst run mountain I've ever skied at, operationally. Maybe it's because they sold their souls to Vail? Because I don't want this review to be totally negative, I will add that the conditions were great. Stowe is getting some awesome snow this year, leaving the trails full of extremely fresh powder. And another add- the food at the base was pretty solid for lodge food. read more

This review is specifically for the adventure center. We are staying at the Lodge for the week...50 ft away from the ice skating rink. My family of 4 walked in at 5pm and was told by the young little asshole kid that works there that we were too late to skate. Disregard the fact that 2 girls are at the counter getting their skates. Also disregard the fact that the rink closes at 9pm on the weekends. I asked if there was any way to rent skates for a family of 4...this guy was so dismissive. I own a business (several) and would fire an employee on the spot for treating a potential customer this way. Incredibly disappointed in this experience. And in case anyone that runs this place wants to see who it was that acted this way, we walked in at 5:00pm on Jan 4. Check your schedule and get rid of this asshole employee...I would! read more

My dad has health issues that presents him having medium burger. We asked to cook well done to cook. Waiters told us the cooks don't listen nor know how to make it. WHICH IS crazy because that's the easiest burger to eat. Then said she had to ask manager. LITERALLY INSANE! read more

Skiing in Stowe, VT: We love Stowe and snow and went to Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont a resort and ski mountain by Vail Resorts at Spruce Peak...? I'm saying it like that because it was 100% confusing for us visitors/skiers where we were going and where we needed to be. Directions/signage all need to be updated. We went in and out of probably 5 places before we were finally in the right place to size and rent gear then buy our ski passes. This delayed our time and was just more confusing than it needs to be-the flow is off and the signage small and not helpful. It's also annoying to walk into a bunch of buildings for the attendants to say "wrong place... go out and walk that way". We originally almost went on the very difficult slopes/mountain side without knowing it because of its Stowe branding and the Less familiar "Spruce Peak "sign on the main road. We paid for a full day pass even though we were minutes away from the half day pass pricing (didn't realize this till our friends bought their passes after us in line for more than $50 cheaper a piece). I sure wish the attendants had the courtesy to mention this info & to wait 2 minutes... but alas we paid the Full Day Price of $221.49 each for just a couple hours of afternoon skiing (sunset at 4ish). Read the fine print! Parking was also $30. For new skiers there is a great hill with a lovely view down as well as some bunny slopes. There are also some more tougher greens. If you are a beginner (like me) I highly recommend. Overall recommend, but with notes. I filled out the review they sent after but no one contacted me. read more

Stowe Mountain Resort is tops for winter as well as, summer time sports and recreation in the northeast region. The events they host are always well organized and of high standards. For skiing they are now part of the EPIC pass brand which is greatly appreciated, as we use EPIC in Beaver Creek and Vail in Colorado, and at the awesome Heavenly Ski resort in Lake Tahoe. Your ski pass is easily accessible online and as an app. The joy of techno ease is a major plus, avoid the hassle of waiting on line . Check! :) The grounds are well groomed with a good variety of trails. The ski instructors are some of the best. There are shops and restaurants in the complex with many enjoyable options for the entire family. We go yearly and are always happy to return. This time we are here for the July 4th holiday. The fireworks celebration is fun with plenty of games for children. There are food trucks serving good quality pizza, burgers, hot dogs, tacos, ice cream, etc. Top shelf drinks, wine and local brews. The evening filled with live musical performances and acrobats, ending with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:40pm sharp! **Free gondola rides to and from the Mansfield parking area on the appropriately named 'Over Easy'** :D Love it here! read more

Highly recommend the gondola ride to the top and then lunch at the top of the mountain. Reservations at the bottom showed a two hour wait. We checked in at the top with the hostess and had immediate patio seating. Dogs are welcome also. Pretty day with great views. read more

Went here just to ski. The trails are definitely not for beginners. Went all the way to the top and the view was beautiful. Stowe had the tallest mountain in vt so definitely a sight to see. A great East Coast resort to get some gnarly pow! We had a great time skiing at this resort over by the beginner Adventure Camp and the Toll Road Lift. We had great spaces to teach some friends that were new to skiing and appreciated the patience of the team members at the lifts. Lines were not terrible, and the snow was well groomed. The village area was very cool, with ice skating, food, and shops. There are several places to park, and if you go to the higher parking lots near the Midway Lodge, be prepared to wait! Leaving at 4pm was hit by intense traffic. But we hung out at that lodge and had drinks until close (6pm). We spent 2 days here and tested a variety of slopes and can't wait to come back! read more

What a bogus end of the day. Not only did we have to pay $30 for parking on top of the hundreds of dollars for passes, but when we returned to the car there was a parking violation ticket for another $100. Please note that the violation ticket was placed under the windshield wiper, directly next to the paid parking receipt under the windshield on the driver's side dashboard. When we went to the office to show Stowe staff the paid parking slip they told us that there was nothing they could do because the parking program was run by a third party. I love Stowe! I've visited this area a few times in various seasons, but on my most recent trip we took the gondola to the top. I also had the chance to ski here a couple of times, but I'm more familiar with the Southern Vermont mountains. The skiing here is pretty top notch for the east coast. I was an intermediate skier and snowboarder, but there are a lot of trails for the more advanced people. If you are more of a beginner skier/rider, I'd suggest the southern VT mountains like Mount Snow, Stratton or Bromley. You will get more bang for your buck. I'll be upfront, nothing here is cheap. Food is costly, on mountain lodging, and lift tickets here add up fast. Even the summer activities get pricey. This mountain, like other ski spots in New England, offers a plethora of year round outdoor activities. Some activities include zip lining, tree top adventures, and rock climbing. We watched someone zip line down and I have to say it looked AMAZING, but it will cost you a pretty penny at $135 each. For the less adventurous, you can do the gondola ride ($29 each) to the top or the auto toll road ($24+). We opted to ride the gondola, it was a slightly cloudy day, but the views are amazing since this is Vermont's highest peak. Such a peaceful and serene spot. There was a small gift shop at the top of the mountain. A restaurant is also located up here, but it's costly, however the views are out of this world. A gondola ride and lunch at the restaurant would be an amazing place for an engagement proposal! I'd also recommend this for those celebrating an anniversary, birthday or other special occasion, especially in the summer or fall. When you get to the base, you can take another gondola over to an area with more shops. If you are looking for less expensive lodging, check out some of the other motels on the access road. read more

I purchased 3 tickets totalling 99.64 for the Gondola Skyride on 10/8. My family arrived on site and were ready to get tickets when the Stowe attendant noted that the line was so long, we should instead come the next day. Having checked the weather, I noted that there is rain in the forecast. She shook her head and said it would be the same as that day. We drove up quite a distance so a wait would not have been unwarranted, but on her advice, I went to change the ticket reservation for the next day. The next day, the weather had turned to rain and had zero visibility from the top. A complete waste of money and a day of vacation. read more

Did not go skiing! Here for hiking! Hiked up the mountain! It's about a 2 1/2 hour hike for beginners! Not real steep but it's definitely a hard workout! Made it to the top and had a fantastic lunch with a glass of wine. The views are spectacular. Tok bad the fall foliage hasn't quite started yet. But the weather is fantastic! Stowe Mountain Resort is well known for skiing. We visited in the summer and went zip lining. My kids and I had never been zip lining before so I have nothing to compare it to , but everything went smoothly and the zip lining was fun. We parked at the bottom of the mountain but then had to take a short gondola ride to the village to pay and get our gear. When we got back to the bottom of the mountain I was glad that you are first required to go through a "demo" to make sure that you know the hand signals and how everything works. There were three separate line to ride. All of the staff was very helpful. The boys loved it. I thought it was pretty scary but the scenery was so beautiful! I am so glad I did it! read more

Super fun experience! We took the easy way out and paid a flat rate of $60 ($15/pp) for four of us to drive up this gigantic resort and see the checkpoints along the way. For certain it's a dangerous and rocky ride so please follow the rules and be respectful. We packed a cooler of hard ciders and some local meats and cheese to snack on at the top. Even in September, BUNDLE up as it is incredibly windy and much colder at the top especially if you follow the trails to the peaks. read more

On the eve of my next trip (they've been getting snow!), I'm updating pricing for those not on a season pass - in the (vain) hope that you won't get sticker shock. Under no circumstances should you just walk up to the window to buy a ticket - that will set you back $134 (compared to something like $179 at Vail or Beave) for an adult ticket ($114 for kids up to 12). Compare that to planning ahead and buying your tix online 7 days or more in advance ($99/$84). Even if it's not in advance, buying it online instead of walk-up will save you enough money for a modest lunch ($119/$101) - or perhaps more accurately, at those chalet prices, a VERY modest lunch, if you bring your own water :) read more

BEAUTIFUL!!! First time in Vermont and first year of having Epic passes which is accepted at this resort... thank you for that military special this year!! Made the drive from South Jersey and arrived on a Friday night so that we can spend Saturday and Sunday on the slopes. Parking If you're coming to ski/snowboard during peak times like the weekend.. I suggest coming EARLY because parking can be BRUTAL!! The main parking lot where the Over Easy Gondola is and the Mansfield Lodge, gets packed pretty quick. Then if you stay until the lifts close, everyone is trying to get out of the parking lot and trying to exit on the only road out. So if you plan on leaving at 4pm when the lifts close, expect to be in bumper to bumper traffic! If you can find parking.. there is paid parking I think they said at Spruce Lodge maybe? Also free parking at the Toll House Lift and parking at the cross country sky place where you can take a shuttle to the main lodge. Or just e early to grab a parking spot and you'll be fine! Mountain/Trails We were sooo lucky that the weather was nice and sunny and the snow was powder and not icy at all! If you've snowboarded in the East coast, it's usually a gamble as to what the mountain conditions will be! I'm used to ice haha. Saturday was perfect, Sunday not so much! It was snowing and mixing with ice/rain. Visible sucked Butter the snow was powder. But all the lifts were still running on Sunday despite the weather conditions with the winds. But at least there was barely anyone on the mountain! Lots of lifts from an 8 person Gondola ride to the highest peak, which has blue and black diamond trails. Then lots of other lifts for beginners to intermediates and advanced trails. Lots of of options to start on one trail and cross over to explore other trails... you really can spend all day and not do the same trails. The scenery is AMAZING! Don't forget to soak it all in and stop for a photo ops to remember the beauty. Food/Drinks Take the Over Easy Gondola to head towards the Lodge and many choices of food. There's The Whistle Pig Pavillion, has food and some local brews and of course whiskey. Really pricey, but if you want a good drink, definitely a place to relax and get a drink. Inside was like being inside a nice cozy cabin! Inside the Lodge, you have choices of restaurants such as Soltice that has a good selection of food and also Hourglass where you can relax in the lobby of comfy couches while you are served food and drinks! On top of the gondola there's a restaurant on top if you wanted to grab food and drinks! Be willing to spend some money tho.. it is a resort of course! Another restaurant I believe on top of the quad lift too! Can't wait to come back again for another snowboarding trip! Love the location and love the Stowe area!! read more

I have been making my way around all the ski resorts here in VT and finally ended up at Stowe. Although I found the customer service in the main long and on the phone to be lackluster, the resort self is impressive and I can see why it's so popular. The sheer amount of awesome lifts and gondolas, the beautiful views, the number of eateries...I met so many people who recommended I get the Epic Pass for the upcoming season and although I'm not huge on large companies taking over ski resorts, I decided it was well worth the money as it'll have paid for itself in 5 visits. It'd be a five-star experience if the woman at the counter who I bought my ticket and young immature woman who took my call inquiring about the Epic Pass had ben more professional. It's something Vail Resorts should pay more attention to. read more

I came up here early season on a last-minute trip with some friends in a ski club. Although Stowe didn't have too much open, the snow was good, and they definitely had the most terrain available in the northeast at the time of our visit. As others have noted, Stowe has a lot of history - from one of the first ever established ski patrols to the old school lodges that still stand today, there's certainly a nice rustic feel around here. In an effort to keep up with the other developing resorts in VT and out west however, Stowe recently further developed "Spruce Peak," adding in more residential units, hotel rooms, and retail spaces. Spruce Peak is definitely the "foo-foo" area (as others like to call it too) of the mountain now, catering more to families, time shares, and large groups in general. Others have mixed reviews of this type of development, but I enjoy a little luxury every now and then, and dining in the "Spruce Camp" lodge was an experience within itself. The Great Room, a circular seating area adjacent to the food court area, has beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and provides a perfect panorama of the afternoon sun-drenched Spruce Peak. My favorite part of the mountain is the RF ticketing at the lift gates. In an effort to combat fraud tickets, many mountains employ extra lifties to scan patrons tickets, but this often slows down the lines. With Stowe's RF technology, you just ski up to a turnstile where your ticket is automatically read through your jacket. Once accepted, the turnstile gate opens, allowing you to proceed through. As a gadget/tech dork, I found this really cool! From reviewing the trail map, it's clear that Stowe has a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to returning when they've got more snow-covered trails! read more

This resort beStowed upon us a great weekend of snowboarding on the east coast. The amount, quality, and variety of trails was plentiful. Taking the gondola up to the top of the mountain allows you the option to ride down several different blue or black slopes AND the opp to buy by far one of the best chocolate covered waffles I've had in my life at the Waffle Cabin booth. The smell of waffle dough is so welcoming! I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the lodge, eating areas, and rr's. There's also another gondola that takes you across the parking lot. Lunch at the grill cafe over on the Spruce side offers some pretty upscale (and somewhat pricey) lunch options, like risotto, paninis, and apple pie with chunks of Vermont cheddar on the side. The cafe was well staffed, and the employees also plated each entree with flair. Transworld Snowboarding mag had a 3 lift tickets/$99 coupon, which was an AWESOME deal considering one day's lift ticket is $84. read more

Parked in the paid-parking lot for the convenience. It is $30, which I was fine with, because I got there at 10:30. There are many signs, but I did not realize that you have to pay upon entry. We finished around 2PM, & when I scanned the QC code to pay, it was no longer an option. I had a physical ticket on my car for $75. I appealed, which was denied. The response indicated that there was a $25 break, but that was from the cost of a late payment of $100. Given the cost of skiing at Stowe, I am disgusted, & will never go there again. I understand that they subcontract this out, but Vail/Stowe need to own this. read more

Very beautiful place and beautiful views of the mountain. The slopes at spruce peak are Very good for beginners like myself and little kids. The only bad thing about the slopes here is that they are very short but still fun. The slopes across the street are very good and long. The lodge itself is very nice and big, there is a lot of room if you want to sit by the fire inside or go shop. At this place there is something to do for everyone. You can go skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, get some candy or even go to the spa! There is also a heated pool and hot tub so if u want to relax more make sure u bring a swim suit!! love it i would definitely recommend and come back! read more

Probably the most scenic resort in the east. All the cliffs and the mountains are so beautiful. I was here when there was only limited terrain open but I still had fun. However, this place is way too expensive and I think Stowe is ok with that. They seem to cater to the very affluent. Perhaps trying to model themselves on Deer Valley in Utah. I was skiing at Stowe during the weekday but I can definitely see how this place can be a nightmare due to congestion. There is only one road leading in and out and the parking seems inadequate. No wonder they started selling $400+ parking passes without guaranteed parking. I would never come here during a weekend. read more

I give Stowe Mountain 5 stars at 7:35 a.m. when I am on the first chair on the Fourunner Quad at the top ready to start my first run. From that point forward the rating declines. Unfortunately all the reviews say how great Stowe is how big it is, how long the runs are, how many one mile lifts it has, and how it has the longest average vertical. What you do not not hear is that there is only one road coming in and going out so on powder days and holidays it can take you over 2 hours to get to the mountain from Route 100, that it is over crowded even though it is big, on a windy day that none of the 16 lifts will run, the length of the runs means Stowe would only have 48 runs (that's how many they had 12 years ago) one of the gondola's isn't even a lift, it takes you from one parking lot to another, 3 of the quads are on the "beginner's/intermediate mountain where less people ski. What I am trying to say as a frequent skier of Stowe the Epic pass and the people that gave the shiney reviews are not diehard skiers that live to do 15-20 runs a day. They may even came during the week, I work and come here on the weekends and it is just like I described. I ski early and hard and have to stop when the crowds come too dangerous! Some of the blues on Mansfield are not for the beginners I see and the jerks that don't know how to turn. How can you stop at 60 mph with crowds! So I stop by 9:30 most days, so sad. I hope Katz can't make a dividend payment some year and he sells Stowe. :) The staff is friendly and they do try do they're best. I really feel for the parking attendants that's the worst job, so cold some days and I'm sure people must hate it when they drive over two hours and the lot is full! They should be rewarded! The food is great in Great Room but the cooks sometimes seem like they hate waiting on you some don't talk or smile. But I'll keep skiing here until we sell our house plus I LOVE the Chapel on the mountain, visiting that is always the highlight of my weekend! Thank you.
