I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

We had a nice sized room in the carriage house which may have been a bit dated but was nice. The lodge itself was very nice, with a rustic feel and great views of the lake. The gentleman that checked us in was so very pleasant and accomidating. If we have to to Wheeler mountain again without our camper we will certainly stay here again.

TV was in room and Wi-Fi available. Each room is given a parking spot so no worries about trying to park on the street. It is located near the university so traffic can be a bit heavy during the school year. It's one of the few bed and breakfasts in the area. I would stay here again. Water, tea, and a daily cookie was offered to guests. There were no refrigerators in the rooms, but there was a community refrigerator available to put any food or beverages in if needed.

This is not a normal "guest house" in the sense of a B&B where you gather each morning with others to eat breakfast. Instead, this is a single studio in the same building as the owner's house with its own entry. It very much feels like your own studio apartment in Burlington. The owners have an excellent design sense, probably because they're artists themselves. The studio is roomy with high ceilings and original artwork on the walls. There is a kitchen, a sitting area, a small eating table, and a very comfortable queen size bed with hardwood floors throughout. Besides some temporary construction going on next door, the studio was absolutely quiet as you are on the upper floor and insulated well from the owner's place. There's also parking. The studio is a bit off the beaten path of downtown Burlington, but is an easy drive or long walk in, and overlooks the Winooski River. Much closer are the University of Vermont and a secondary urban area north of downtown that has its own shops and restaurants. A couple things to be mindful of when you book that weren't necessarily apparent to us: simple breakfast food is provided in the studio (granola, milk, cider, fruit, coffee, etc.) but is not served as a formal sitting each day in a separate dining room somewhere. Your room is also not cleaned each day as in a traditional B&B or hotel. Fortunately the space is so large and with plenty of eating options within a short distance, these were non-issues. We liked Burlington so much I'm sure we'll return within the year and will definitely stay at Dubuque Lane again.

Andrea, the proprietor, keeps the carriage house and the grounds to the property very tastefully appointed. While the carriage house is located right in the heart of this small, college-friendly city, Howard St. is a very quiet residental venue and is situated in a very nice part of town. The location was actually very convenient. Just about a mile from the heart of the little bustling down-town area, the mile long walk each waty was a great way to get exercise and to experience the sights on foot. The carriage/guest house itself is very clean, neat, orderly and comfortably decorated. To our delight, we even found fresh milk and OJ in the mini-fridge, which was very thoughtful. A cupboard also offers complimentary fresh cereals, teas, hot chocolate and coffee for use by any guest. There were PLENTY of freshly laundered linens available, also. The ONLY amenity which could use a little upgrading (but its not a big deal) is the television (old tube style) and the VCR would be better replaced by a modern DVD player. (VHS- what's that?) Free Wi-Fi is supplied by the proprietor, which is a very convenient amenity by today's standards. We will definitely be back for a second visit!

They do have coffee, tea, cereal, milk, and orange juice kept in the kitchenette area with wine glasses, flatware, etc. It was $366 total for two nights, a bit expensive, but I guess you get a better comfortable deal all in one, so why not! The upstairs studio, where we stayed, can accomodate up to four people (2 on bed, one on additional bed, and one on the couch). It is definitely a good share, or for a couple away from home. *Btw, beware of the toilet bowl... it did clog up.

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy getaway in Newport. The space was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The hosts were friendly and communicative, offering great local tips while also giving us plenty of space to unwind. The location was perfect for our plans. We used Newport as a home base to explore the charming Northeast Kingdom and the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, visiting several amazing vineyards just across the border. It was incredibly convenient to be just minutes from the crossing, yet still tucked away in a quiet, welcoming Vermont town. The home itself had everything we needed--comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and lovely details that made it feel warm and inviting.

Upon finally contacting them, Brad starts yelling starts me bc he doesn't agree with the timeline I provided. Good thing everything is time stamped. Any person in hospitality who thinks this is acceptable operating practices is out of their mind. 0/10 do not recommend this. Apparently in Vermont, hospitality isn't a thing. My parents, my girlfriend, and myself decided to give this place a try for a trip/visit while my parents were up. We did book about a month or 2 weeks out, and didn't have any problems getting the rooms. My mom picked it out specifically due to the fact that it was pet friendly. (My mom has a Chihuahua that is very much like a discover card... she never leaves home without it... err, him.) If you check out their website, you'll be able to see the owner's wonderful cats and dogs that are usually hiding someone on the property, if not looking for your attention. ;-) The location is great. Nestled off the beaten path, err... road, and set between a few rolling hills and plenty of wooded acreage. It is a beautiful scene and get-away that's great to see any season of the year. Though I highly recommend mid to late fall with the changing colors of the leaves and foliage. The owner's are VERY nice people. Greeting us and helping us with our bags, giving us information about the house, area, and the sites to see. They even suggested a few nice places for us to grab dinner the local towns, although they also offered a cooked dinner in the B&B as well. The family den area is very nice and cozy, with plenty of places to sit and read, watch a bit of TV, check your email, or play a game of chess. There is even a wood burning stove if you just want to sit by the heat/fire and talk. There are also large glass windows/doors that let in plenty of light and offer a view of the back yard and pool area. The word "back yard" doesn't provide much justice either because the view is actually very nice/pleasant. The rooms are very nice, well kept, and definitely inviting. My parents stayed downstairs in the "Presidential Suite" which has a canopy bed, and a little sitting room attached, along with a private bath and a sliding door for access to the back yard. My mom thought this room would be best for letting the dog in and out when/if needed. The hard wood floors, and wood post bed make this room feel a bit old, but in a good way! Me and my girl stayed in the Foliage room upstairs, which had a HUGE king bed, private bath, and a small TV to fall asleep too. :-P The bed was very comfy, and the overall room was very clean. The bathroom had a very classic modern feel to it, which I kept talking about during our stay. It was a neat bathroom... LOL In the morning we were all welcomed with a nice, and healthy, breakfast. Lime zest pancakes with turkey bacon, diced potatoes, and coffee/juice. Top off the pancakes with some local Vermont maple syrup and it's almost heavenly! Overall this was a great experience (though a bit of a drive), and I would HIGHLY recommend it for a weekend get-away. Great for hiking on the property or in the area, and the city of Burlington isn't far away if you want to get out and do some shopping. If you in the marketplace for a quick retreat, I'd suggest checking this one out.
