Eric is incredibly knowledgeable about NYC's history and shares it all. His boat is gorgeously kept and is incredibly comfortable and modern with a traditional feel. More importantly you can tell he enjoys what he does, which makes it amazing for those sailing with him. It's also a very relaxing experience. We went out on the 4 hr tour and it went by so incredibly fast! If you have the time I definitely recommend doing the 4 hr as it's the perfect amount of time to enjoy the experience. However, if you don't have the time I very much encourage taking the shorter tour so you can experience a great time. A must-do in NYC!

He went out of his way to make sure I got incredible photos and made my milestone birthday extra special. We drove up and down through winding suburban roads and almost drove right past the entrance to the club, as the sign was just a small red deer on a post. We drove down the dirt path and arrived at the gate, where a young student needed to check us in. For some reason he was having a tough time locating our names on the guest list, but eventually was able to allow us to enter. There were two parking lots that were essentially full, but we were able to catch someone as they were leaving for the day. We grabbed our bags and headed over to the small beach area, where there was a section blocked off for shallow swimming with a lifeguard present. They even allowed rafts and floaties in that part of the lake. Beyond the designated swimming area was a beautiful, massive lake where they were having a race that afternoon and where people typically enjoyed boating. There was a pier for fishing, as well. Food was not allowed on the beach, but there were plenty of picnic tables and Adirondack chairs scattered across grassy areas that were reserved for that purpose. In fact, though they had a snack bar with ice cream, grilled foods, and snacks, they even allowed people to bring their own meals. In addition, my friends told me that they had been able to secure a locker for this summer, after an extended period of being on the waitlist. By having on-site storage, they were able to keep all of their chairs, floats, umbrellas, etc. only a few steps from the beach, rather than needing to drag everything home full of sand and to track down a place to keep it all. Lastly, I learned that the lake had various events, like movie nights. Deer Lake Club really seemed to care about its members with its slew of amenities. Plus, it was just a very peaceful and pristine place to relax during warmer months.

I believe Groupon offered a cheaper price than what the business typically does so if you're trying to get an extra discount - look at Groupon and they're willing to price match. It also helps them as well since I think Groupon takes a fee from them. Nevertheless, this establishment was the first place to pop up and I have nothing but good things to say. My fiancée and I had an incredible experience. We did a walk-in with no reservation, and the young woman who greeted us at the front desk named Mia was very kind and respectful, got us in very quickly with no hassle and while waiting on a guide she asked some questions about our life and it made everything feel so much more personable. They also had a friendly dog but he usually stays in the other room if that's not your thing. Our guide Chahin met up with us after we watched the safety video and took us on our tour of beautiful NYC views, he was also a very friendly guy and talking to him felt like talking to a buddy or old buddy you're meeting up with again from like high school or something. If we were to have changed anything about the visit, we probably would've got the picture package (we're cheap but a picture explains the amount of fun over words can!) and we rode together and would likely take separate jet skis (but we did take turns half way through!). I had an absolutely awful experience and strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a jet ski rental…read more Beyond the actual ride, it was a massive waste of time--they require you to arrive 30 minutes early to set up, yet my original 4:00 PM appointment was delayed until 5:15 PM because of broken jet skis, and then we were made to wait even longer for missing group members. Right from the start, I was dealing with Mia, who originally promised to give me free photos and videos to compensate for all the delays. ​When we finally got out, less than five minutes into the water, my jet ski completely stopped working. Because of the broken ski, I couldn't accelerate and was stuck in the back. Phil, the guide, was leading up front and flew right by without even noticing I had stopped. Sitting helpless in open water for that long was a major safety hazard, and I had to wait around 20 minutes in the water just for a jet ski swap. ​Before I left that day, I went to see Phil directly about the media Mia had promised, and he said he would send everything via WhatsApp as soon as he finished fixing the broken jet ski. He never did. When I called early the next morning and spoke with Mia and Corey (the owner), Corey gave me a phone number to call Phil directly. That number turned out to be completely non-working. I waited at their office until closing, called repeatedly, messaged on WhatsApp, and was ultimately ghosted. I never received my pictures, my videos, or the full rental time I paid for. Zero safety awareness, broken equipment, terrible organization, and non-existent customer service. Save your money and go somewhere else.
