We've been taking our dog here since we got her and absolutely love this place! The staff are always so nice and they helped us out when we started seeing signs of severe allergies. Outstanding Emergency Care and Compassion I brought my cat, Gavin, to Edgewood Veterinary Clinic for an urgent emergency. He was unable to urinate and had been throwing up, and the team quickly diagnosed him with crystals blocking his urethra. He required immediate surgery to place a catheter and received IV fluids to restart his kidneys. The care Gavin received was nothing short of exceptional. The entire staff, from the front desk to the veterinary team, was extremely professional, courteous, and empathetic. During a very stressful time, they made me feel welcomed and well-informed. I want to specifically thank Vet Tech Rachel for her outstanding work and attentiveness--she was wonderful. It's clear this team goes above and beyond the call of duty. Be very careful here. I was a customer for 30 years and after a turnover in Vets the service really declined. I have had 3 shocking experiences in a very short time. #1 our pet was MIS diagnosed with an eye infection and given RX that actually sped up the problem and caused more pain. A specialist gave us the correct diagnosis, but we were days from losing the eye. The Edgewood clinic refunded our money so I stayed because it seemed ethical and mistakes happen. #2 shortly after this mishap, I took a different pet in and was left in the exam room (not the waiting room) for 1 hour 15 minutes. When I exited and said, "I'm sorry, I have to get back to work" the response was "Oh gosh! We forgot to send someone in!" then within a couple weeks we took pet #1 back in and ended up with an emergency surgery for a blockage and sent home hours later with our pet. The young pet Never woke up and died. We rushed her to the ER where we were told most likely she was overdosed. I can't communicate the shock. Our initial return to the vet the next day seemed promising with condolence and admission that the dog should have been kept and we were asked to come back Monday to talk with office manager after clinic had time to review. We did that and were met with changed reactions, no help whatsoever, and a conflict on several earlier statements. The office manager in particular was incredibly unprofessional. She told us this was her 7th clinic and she would never give help based on outcome. I'm curious why she has been in 7 different clinics. She is not very old. If you are looking for a new vet, consider VEG in Federal Way. They were incredibly sensitive, thorough and just remarkable. I can't say enough about them. read more

If I could leave a lower review, I wouldn't hesitate. My family lost a beloved, young dog after surgery at this practice, and their response was horrific. They were not willing to consider even the possibility that mistakes were made (even though another ER vet indicated that there almost certainly were). My family was not asking for a full refund, and just was hoping to get a discount that would equal the profit the clinic made on a $3,000 surgery. We were far more concerned that they would take a closer look at what happened, and we hoped that it could prevent the same issue from recurring for another family. The practice was not even willing to examine their own practices and procedures, kept changing their story and reasoning for what happened, and ultimately demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and ethics. read more

We absolutely love this clinic. Miranda, a long with everyone we've come in contact with have been nothing but professional and helpful. We even live an hour away in North Seattle and happily will drive our elderly dog and cats here. We had two scary situations happen over the last few years, (one just a few days ago) and they got us in as quickly as they could and calmed our fears as well as addressed the issues. They've been great treating our pets, but we received unexpected and unfortunate health news for one of our fur children. The staff has been kind and cheerful. The only complaint I have is having to suggest and exhaust all options to the Vet after doing my research and homework on care options. Shouldn't a vet clinic explain all possible options to treat your pet and nurse them to better health? If my family hadn't done our own research, we would have never know these other options we are able to exhaust to ensure our pets are getting the best care and knowing that we tried everything for them. We have taken our animals here for 20+ years and last weekend, early Saturday morning, September 29, 2024. We woke up to our cat that we have had for 16 years was bellowing in pain. We quickly realize that she was sleeping in a chair and lost control of her bowels- we then realized that she had a seizure. Feeling unsure and afraid for her we decided to take her to the emergency clinic in Auburn because Edgewood vet was not open yet. We arrived at 7:30 and they closed at eight and unfortunately they said that they were already at capacity so we decided that we were gonna leave and go home and wait until our vet opened (Edgewood Vet) @9:00 am. I will say that every minute we had to see her suffer was unbearable. We ended up leaving and heading to the vet close to 9 AM and when we got there, I went in to speak with them about the situation and one of the office assistance at the desk gave me a paper with euthanasia arrangements on it for people to come to your home and put your pet down. I immediately asked if we could be seen by the vet so that we could have a good understanding of what happened and look her over. She told me that she would go back and check with the vet and let me know..... a few moments later she came out and said she was sorry, but there was no way that they could see us and that they were at half staff and there was nothing they could do. Honestly, I couldn't even put my anger into words. I was so upset .... we had been patients with many pets that we have taken there for many years and when we needed them the most they couldn't even be there for us. I felt so hurt and sad that we didn't matter - Honestly I can't tell you the pain we have felt over this whole situation. If you want a Vet office to treat you with compassion for your pet Edgewood veterinary clinic is not it. read more

My entire family has faithfully been taking out pets to Edgewood for 30 plus years. I'm disgusted by their treatment and lack of helpfulness to a long-standing customer. My dog had a medical emergency - all the local emergency hospitals were full and I had called to see if they could see her - they were booked. I understood- it was a Saturday and luckily she was able to receive care at Summit where she was admitted for several days. Thousands of dollars later - she was discharged with instructions to follow up with my primary - Edgewood if there was further complications. Today is Thursday and my dog needed to be seen for complication concerns. Couldn't get an appointment. Was told I could bring her in on Saturday - 2 days later. I'm not a new patient - my parents, my children all bring their pets here - we've been customers for 30+ years. I expect more. I wasn't given any suggestions - let me check in with our vet - just sorry if you want to come in on Saturday. Should I bring you my dead dog? To contrast two local vets that I called - whom I'm not a standing customer with gave me numbers and consulted with their vet - I'm not even their customer. SHAME ON YOU EDGEWOOD!!!! Start taking care of your clients Even if you told me to take her to Summit again that's something and I would've accepted that but you guys literally did nothing. read more

Yes, a few times over the years I have had to do a repeat visit for the same symptoms I'm sure it would help if our pets could talk. My only complaint is that they are too popular! It is very hard to get an appointment without waiting a couple of weeks. If your pet is sick this means you may need to go to an emergency clinic. I've been visiting Edgewood Vet for about 2 years. I was relatively happy with the experience for most of that time, but the service during COVID times has changed in ways that compelled me to write a review. The first reason: I don't feel safe going here any more. There is signage for no more than 3 people inside at a time, but this is never enforced in the times I've been there. There is no regulation of the flow of traffic, and I have been in there with upwards of 6-8 people at a time (not including staff). This, frankly, was uncomfortable pre-COVID. It's a tiny lobby! At the beginning of the pandemic, the Clinic had a great process for regulating traffic in the lobby. I am sure the phone system was extra work, but it worked and was appreciated. The second reason: the doctors have very little time to give you any attention. Again, I feel bad for all involved, because I am sure this is a result of the pandemic -- backlog of patients, and a need to stay in business by trying to recoup losses. I see this effect at many other businesses, and understand it, and can live with it when it results in a missing item or a wrong order. No big deal. But at our veterinary clinic? It results in worse care for my pet. And that's why I felt compelled to write this: if I don't feel safe, and don't think my dog is receiving proper care, I can't continue to come despite wanting to support a local business that was very kind and helpful pre-pandemic. I hope they can find the right balance to make visitors feel safe and provide more service to their clients. read more

I absolutely LOVE this clinic, everyone is so sweet. Both of my dogs come here and I will never go any where else! My pug had problems one night and I got turned away from Sumner Emergency vet, blue pearl emergency vet. I called Edgewood vet to leave a voice-mail so heartbroken because I knew I had to wait until the following day, if they had any openings. (They aren't 24hrs) and they called me straight away in the morning and got me in the same day to help my pug! This is the place to go. They are so accommodating to my big dog that has behavioral problems. I just adore the workers here! read more

The biggest factor in my choosing this clinic, after trying several others when I moved to WA in 2003, was how well did they handle my furbabies, and did I feel I could trust them with my babies. Had a very bad experience with Edgewood Veterinary Clinic. I will not be back. I never leave bad reviews but feel wronged. They confused my vets shots records and messed up my final charge. I paid in full before leaving only to be called that I was charged wrong and owed more money. They apologized for hanging up on me saying they were "short staffed." I won't trust my pets health to Vets tcan't keep their records straight. Hi Dr Vicki, I did really like coming when I saw you. I thought you were a great Vet. Unfortunately this was not my only bad experience with this office. This is just the one that was last straw. This is the one that I thought others should know that I wouldn't come here. With this visit I feel I was treated very poorly over a charge that was your offices mistake. I was told I paid in full, only to be called later for more money. I was happy to pay but even that didn't go smoothly. Months went by before I heard from the office again saying I still had not paid. The bad vibes from your staff over a bill that I was told was paid was very unfortunate. I really believe that if my experiences had been with just you, I would be leaving a great review. Sadly, based on the events that occurred today while trying to get treatment for my cat, I have to add updates to my earlier review I did yesterday regarding what has happened to this once great clinic. I found some answers as to why this clinic went from an outstanding clinic to one that nobody should take their pet to. Although they are not taking any new clients right now, let my story be a cautionary tale for anyone in the future that may want to take their pet there. My family and I have been bringing all of our pets to Dr. Joe and his clinic for three generations now--basically from when he first started in that small building down the road. In essence, my family helped build the practice to what it is today. Dr. Joe himself is an amazing vet, and before the move to the "new" location, he and his staff had an amazing "personal touch" with us. He would take the time to speak with you, and even give you a phone call as well. As I detailed in my previous post, those days are long gone. I was unaware of this until today, but Dr. Joe apparently sold his clinic and is no longer the owner. This really does explain, and is not a coincidence in my opinion, the drastic changes that have happened to this clinic. Whomever bought the clinic and is currently "running the show" has done away with all of the great characteristics and way of doing business that was present when Dr. Joe was the owner. I don't think that that it is also a coincidence that many of the old staff, including partnering vets, have left the clinic. They have been replaced with people that are plain vicious, and could care less how long that you have been a client. I will illustrate this with what occurred with me today at the clinic (keep in mind that this was before I learned that Dr. Joe is no longer the owner of the clinic). I had made an appointment to have Dr. Joe see my cat yesterday. I have a special needs cat, as I had adopted her from the Seattle Animal Shelter where she came from a home where a lady was hoarding 73 cats in a one bedroom apartment. Thus, she was severely under socialized, and getting her into a carrier is a traumatic event in of itself, and the clinic has been well aware of this. I was able to get her in her carrier and headed towards the clinic. However, on the way in, a car struck me from behind on Highway 18. This, of course made me late for the appointment. When I arrived, I explained what had happened. In the past back when Dr. Joe was the owner, he would have arranged for my cat to be seen that day, especially given the circumstances and knowing the issues with being able to get my cat into a carrier. Instead, this "Julie, the Office Manager" said that she went back to talk to Dr. Joe (allegedly) to ask him if he or someone else could see my cat today. She returned and claimed that Dr. Joe would not even entertain the idea. Again, I was unaware at this time that Dr. Joe was no longer the owner. Even so, knowing Dr. Joe for over twenty years plus, he would never be that cold and mean. At the very least, he would have come out and told me himself. Thus, I do not believe that "Julie the Office Manager" talked to him, or if she did, failed to give Dr. Joe all of the information about what was going on. The only option that "Julie the Office Manager" gave me was to leave my cat at the clinic overnight to be seen by one of these "new" vets the next morning. I went home upset about the treatment I was getting from these "new" staff members. Still not knowing that Dr. Joe was no longer the owner, I sent an email to Dr. Joe to inform him about what happened and my concerns. Even though I wrote at the top of my message "...This letter is meant for Dr. Joe and Dr. Joe only, and I would like a response from Dr. Joe only," my email was "intercepted" by this "Julie the Office Manager" lady. "Julie" responded, and basically told me that "If I didn't like the way they now operate, I can take my cat and leave." I responded last night by posting a review here outlining my concerns. I then arrive at my appointment at 10 a.m. today. I was met by a female staff member who asked me who I was, then stated in a vicious tone "...Due to your post on Yelp last night, we are no longer providing services to you...here is your cat and your records." I asked to speak with Dr, Joe again, but this lady said "...I don't know when he will be available." When I said that I would wait, this lady threatened me that if I chose to wait, then she would call the police to have me removed. That's right. Call the police on me, just for asking to speak to Dr. Joe. Keep in mind that I was nothing but cordial with these people. Despite being upset, I never raised my voice to anyone, was never belligerent, or used any foul language. Ask yourself before choosing this clinic if you believe their behavior is acceptable. Careful--if you raise concerns, they will threaten to call the police on you. read more

I was a customer of over 20 plus years . When Doctor Joe was still in practice the care of all of my animals was exceptional . During 2020 the practice began to slide and customer service and care deteriorated. Once the move to the new location was completed customer service no longer mattered and the good care of my pets no longer mattered. I have a cat that was placed on a high dose of prednisone ( which made him worse) and no follow up appointment was honored and then was refused a medically necessary follow up. I had to find another vet who then placed my cat back on prednisone so that he could be weaned off the medication. If I had not found other veterinary care my cat would have medically crashed with possible death because of Edgewood Veterinary Clinic's medical negligence. Dr Victoria S. You can call it what you may, but your practice only cares for what you think it should. When you harm the welfare and care of animals under your practice because your clients protest inadequate care and follow through, 20 years of never having an issue until you took over the practice should caution new and existing clientele. Yes, I lost my cool because of the lack of care and lack of proper follow through with a serious lack of communication between your staff and client regarding medical information; medical care and proper follow up being established. They were only concerned with making sure I paid!! You should have been turned in to the Medical board. You can sugar coat all the reviews you want... It will not change your actions or lack of care no matter ... that fur baby as you call them came in last as your ego has no sense of right or wrong. Not sorry, to speak the truth. This office has the most relaxed atmosphere which is what my scared fur babies need. They make sure they are following the COVID19 rules by only allowing 4 customers at a time. They provide chairs outside for your wait. The staff is very friendly with smiles all the time. Our Shadow didn't make it home from his last visit. I wasn't surprised because he was very ill and had stopped eating and drinking. But I have never seen a more gentle and compassionate veterinarian than Dr. Santiago, and her staff follows her example. They put me in a large room with its own outside door and gave me all the time I needed with Shadow. They reduced the trauma of parting with my pet as much as is humanly possible, and I will always be grateful. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! This is the worst vet I have ever been to. They do no listen to pet owners & they do not care about anything other than your money. If you love your pets, DO NOT subject them to these greedy people. If there is anything seriously wrong with your pet, they will bullshit you into paying hundreds of dollars, to be told they can't make a diagnoses & to go to an emergency hospital. Additional problems with this vet: Untrained staff, including primary veterinarians They cannot read x-rays. Yes, I'm serious. They had to retake a pelvic X-ray 5 times, charged me for three. Had to ask to be reimbursed for two of them, should've only been charged for 1, as initially agreed upon. This place should be shut down at the gross amount of negligence I've seen here. Also, primary veterinarian smokes cigarettes outside, right next to the oxygen tanks, very unsafe protocols. Also, cigarette smoke/smell is absolutely awful to smell on your veterinarian whom is supposed to be a professional If I could post more I would, I have many examples of how this is the worst vet I've ever been to. We have been bringing our pup here for a few months now for puppy care and most recently to be fixed. The staff is always friendly and informative. I appreciate that the quote that I receive is what the actual price is and that when we dropped him off to be neutered that they kept him for the day to watch him and make sure he was doing well and did not have any reactions to the Anastasia. We previously have taken our dogs to another vet and it always felt like we were always being sold something (puppy packages,insurance,flea and tick packages, insurance) it really took away from the visit and I couldn't do it anymore. Never again will I step foot in this place!!! They must be desperate to pay for the new location because they just charged me over $400.00 to groom my cat! I have been taking her there for years and with sedation, I typically spend around $180. So imagine my surprise when I went to pay for the same service I have always gotten and the price was over double what I have been paying. After voicing the fact that I was not happy about the outrageous charge, I was ganged up on by two girls who were working at the front desk! They both began yelling at me while other clients were sitting in the waiting room. The whole ordeal was UNBELIEVABLE to say the least. This is a wonderful vet clinic and they are very gentle with my animals. We haven't been coming long but they helped us keep our GSD comfortable towards the end of her life, and sent us a sympathy card after learning that she passed. They have been gentle with our two puppies who are (so far, knock on wood!) not afraid of going to the vet. I will be bringing my cats in this week (left a voicemail and was called back within 30mins) and am able to get them both in for a check up scheduled in only two days. Fantastic clinic! Julie at the front desk, was super friendly, sweet, helpful, pleasant in person and over the phone. Vet, Ms. Vicki was quick, knowledgeable, and very professional. They handled our kitty with very gentle voices and hands. The appointment from start to finish took less than 30 minutes! They were very forgiving that I was a few minutes late, and the price was very fair for the quick visit. We have taken many of our pets to their clinic over the years. We have gotten great care with all of our pets. Recently I thought about getting my cat declawed which I didn't want to but she was ruining our furniture. They highly recommended I try soft claws prior to the declaw. I am glad I did. She now gets her nails done every six weeks and my furniture is no longer used as a scratching post. read more

This was awhile ago but we took our dog here to get neutered, it ended up being quite an ordeal. One of his "parts" didn't drop (actual term Cryptorchidism) so he had to have a real surgery, I dropped him off in the morning and picked him up at night. I paid for the pain medication for the surgery (which is a separate cost and you can opt out apparently) as well as the pain medication for after. The stitches were staples and it was very jagged, I'm not vet and I assume they know what they are doing. My dog is a big lab mix. He is no sissy dog and he was crying, like as if he was a person, on the way home it started and didn't stop until the next vet visit. Ok I think, it was surgery. I follow the directions on his pain meds but the guy does not stop crying. He couldn't sit, lay or sleep for 24 hours. He was literally standing and crying for hours. I finally got my dog to rest with a pillow between his legs while holding him. It was so awful! I tear up thinking about. His incision was not looking good the next day so I took him to a different vet. My poor dog had an infection and the new vet informed me that the pain meds they had given him were the equivalent to Motrin. So awesome, I would like them to go to a hospital and have the same service they gave my dog. He ended up being ok but this vet caused my dog so much pain, I had to take time off work and pay for a new vet to fix what the first one did. I wish I would have gone some where else. read more
