"Oh Carol, don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna…read morelearn to dance if it takes me all night and day" (Chuck Berry) We had the pleasure of being introduced to Carol Widman's product line while visiting Fargo, and we were very impressed with the outstanding chocolates and candy they produce. No wonder they are in their fourth generation of candy makers. We had a small bag of "Chippers", which simply out is rippled potato chips drenched in a thick blanket of milk chocolate. What a sinfully great combination! We also had a one-pound Assorted Chocolate Gift Box that came packaged in a gold gift box. It was an eclectic mix of milk, dark, and white chocolate creams, jellies, solid chocolates, and nut clusters with a few Jordan Almonds tossed in for good measure. The chocolate was high quality, and we really enjoyed them.

Store was quite busy with I would say about 10-12 people, I get to the counter and ask for a box of "Chippers" which I was then told the price of and realized maybe I should get a second box being the price was lower than what I was expecting/allowing to spend. The woman behind the counter then told me if I was wanting a second box I would have to go to the end and get back in line. I initially thought she may have been joking, but was being quite serious, and I again reassured, "get back in line for a second box of chippers that you just pulled out from a box behind the counter?" to which she replied "Yes." I replied with "No I don't want to do all of that I'll just take the one then." Which was no issue at all, slight confusion on my part but I respected the rules that were in place. What I then had an issue with was in reply to my comment about just taking the one box, the employee then said something under her breath and chuckled along with another coworker all while swiping my card for payment. At this point I was embarrassed and didn't want to continue at all with how I felt at the moment. Kind of a "Oh I came in here to get my family in on what I hear is amazing chocolate, just to get laughed at amongst employees behind the counter" moment. Honestly nothing crazy, but leaving the store after that small occurrence made me not want the product altogether, linking it to a bad experience with the employees. Great products and all but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and a feeling of regret for stopping in altogether.

The space was clean and the staff were attentive. I then made my way over to the bakery and restaurant side. The signs make it very clear to understand the breakouts. If you are ordering pastries and coffee you will be on one side, whereas, if you are looking to order off the menu with full service, you will be on the bar side. Nichole's is a well oiled machine. The setup is easy to navigate and the concept is unique. Blending pastries, coffee, cakes, cooking products, wine, breakfast, lunch and dinner into one space is magnificent. I loved my intimate dine in session ordering the avocado toast on sourdough bread with an over hard egg and an orange hot tea. It was the perfect blend and was the best avocado toast I ever had. My belly was far too full after brunch so I went to the bakery side after and bought a chocolate raspberry muffin (also the best muffin I've ever had), chocolate chip cookies (darn near ate them all in one setting) and poppyseed thumbprint cookies with a raspberry filling (jaw dropping). There are so many more products to taste and see so I highly recommend a visit. I totally look forward to my return in August so I can dabble more with pastries and get into the espresso world too. Thank you, Nichole's!! Glorious all around. Bravo!

This is somewhere I love to take people who haven't been to Fargo much. It's something that most all people can enjoy, plus the shop is super cute. It's in a newly modernized alley of downtown called Robert's Alley, which can be confusing to find until you are a little more familiar with the area. I think there is maybe a parking garage nearby but your best option is to just park along the street or somewhere downtown and walk. You can only get to Scoop N Dough by walking, biking, or other non-motorized vehicular routes. Though the experience of cookie dough & ice cream is great, I do think it's pretty extravagant. The cookie dough is incredibly sweet and rich, and I can never finish my cup because it almost makes my stomach hurt, it's just too much for me. So that's just a warning- it still tastes fantastic and is fun to try at least once. And I did see they are getting another location along 32nd Ave, almost in West Fargo, which is cool!

The flavored popcorn is a nice addition as well. If you are not familiar with the area, the entrance is located in the alley, not far off of 2nd Ave N. This is an excellent addition to downtown Fargo. For these warmer months, their outside "wall" is an overhead door that opens up into the alley, with some additional seating.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and genuinely welcoming -- the kind of place where you instantly know you're about to have a great experience. We ordered the seared halibut and the wild acres duck breast, and honestly... I'm still thinking about them. The halibut was perfectly cooked -- tender, delicate, and packed with flavor. The duck was incredible -- rich, balanced, and executed with precision. Every bite felt intentional. And the service? Just as impressive. Attentive, friendly, and natural -- not forced, not rushed -- just real hospitality that made the whole experience even better. It's been a long time since I've had food this memorable. This wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. I'll definitely be coming back -- and next time, I'm bringing people with me. Highly recommend.

We r not smokers and don't like being around smoke. She was polite with a delightful demeanor and said she would be right with us. She said 2 of the options we wanted were not available. 'They just got a new shipment & she didn't have time to unload them yet' (yet she had time to smoke a cigarette) She said it would take 6 minutes for the brownies to be done... she was smart enough to give my Moms brownie and ice cream first while we wait for the brownies. I sat there and waited about 10 minutes while she was in the back the whole time.. no update..then a crowd came in and she helped about 6 more people which took another 10 minutes.. Then a lady asked for one of the cookies I asked for which she said was unavailable... but the worker told the lady it would be a 20 minute wait, so after she was finished helping that lady and was on her way to the back, I asked if she could add one for me too. She said 'exchange it with a brownie?' I said 'no, just add it'. She asked me again and I said it again.. seemed like she was trying to get out of doing more work. I waited another 15 minutes & by this time my Mom was finished with her brownie for 10 minutes.. the worker was in the back and two more workers just got there so they were telling each other about the day... she finally came out with my brownies 30 minutes after we had ordered to tell give them to us. I had to remind her I hadn't paid for the cookie yet.. she politely rang me up and gave me the receipts as requested. I really didn't like the lack of communication. Maybe they were short staffed.. I won't be going back there even if my Mom wants to. Bad taste in my moth before I even got a chance to try their product. I'm saving it for when I go home.
