Sigh.. so I love Journalism.. more specifically print journalism.. I was editor in chief of high…read moreschool paper... I only mention it because we were the first class to use a computer to produce the layout for the paper.. so yeah I like the paper.. I had a few very good years w the Az Republic.. I had even started paying for the subscription for a whole year... ( yes .. the whole year).. some were along the line.. the delivery took a ... well.. dump!! Got worse.. so I thought.. ya know .. I think I want the New York Times .. boom.. did it.. a whole year.. cool.. guess what..some how it's the same people delivering the Republic .. so it sucked.. big time.. having to deal with the delivery of the Times was a flash point for the delivery carriers.... When I would report not getting the paper .. it would be credited.. but the next delivery would have a nasty little note from my carrier telling me how the got in trouble and docked for the non delivery... I could not believe that $&@" ,.. ya think the carrier hated me ? Yep .. I reported many times .. and even documented it.. I just got what papers I got and let the subscription end.. then .. I kept getting calls to renew!! And I would explain what happened.. again... oh no so sorry.... that really happened? We'll report it.. nope .. never a call .. letter.. email.. cause no one gives a &@$"... I was so excited thinking I was actually gonna get the Times and different delivery people and everything .. after all I did actually call the Times.. I was so disappointed.... I won't even tell you how much a year for that was... oh well .. I learned.. I couldn't believe that was just how they were.. as an Arizona native.. it's embarrassing.. I felt bad at print media failing.. but not after that ... that's why I went through the effort and expense.. I believed in print media journalism.. and by the way.. what happened to Karena Bland.. they just cut her.. lame..

Note that Midwest Publishing Inc. is a service business offering several types of services. One of…read morethe services they offer is telemarketing and donations collection with bent towards Political, Non-Profit, and Charitable business sectors. Unfortunately I was on the butt end of the way this business makes call out to to potential donation targets. Fortunately for you the Yelp reader I don't just donate, I investigate. Similar to other scummy organizations that will make calls on the behalf of any business, Midwest Publishing employs processes and techniques that attempt to blindside in the effort get someone on the phone. After they get you on the phone they hard sell the topic of the call without much regard to the person they are calling, or the business they were retain to hawk. Their shady tactics include: - No caller ID or calling party number sent during the call. The calling ANI is simply blank. - No calling party name display (CPND) sent during the call. The calling name is either blank or is reported as "Out of Area" on your phone. This is usually due to the Caller ID / ANI not being used. - Robodialer used for calls. Questionable for many use today except for pre-authorized calls, or community safety alert calls. Both of which are not the business of Midwest Publishing. - Voice detection on their Robodialer not compliant with Federal and State laws. The amount of time to detect the target of the call was more than two seconds after answer. In my call the time about 13 seconds of saying hello. Either their system is purposefully setup to break Federal and State laws, or their technology is older than dirt. Either way it's not something recommend for any modern and reputable call center. - Non-compliance with state laws requiring them to inform the about call recording. California is a two-party state. At no time in the beginning of the call was their a recorded announcement or a information from the agent I was connected to about call recording. No beeps played either. Yet the call was a donation call with the intent to collect funds and record the call to prove my authorization. - Call back numbers requested and given by both the agent and the supervisor on the call did not route to any working number for either the charity campaign, or Midwest Publishing. - Of the potential donation you might make to a charity, only 20% of anything you give will go to the organization that has contacted Midwest Publishing to make the call on their behalf. - The makes a major point of their pitch as a contractor servicing political, non-profit, and charity businesses . This allows Midwest Publishing to ignore numbers on the Federal National Do Not Call list. Perhaps a even to the point of calling your number that is on the DNC list during your meal time or family time. A note about the lack of Caller ID / ANI. This lack of sending ANI is usually due to the contracting organization requesting that no number is sent. A scummy tactic for any business to use. In most cases a reputable call center company would at least send their own ANI if one was not specified by the contracting business. To my last point I did ask Midwest Publishing to place me on their internal Do Not Call list for any calls from Midwest Publishing or the businesses that retain their services. Given their calling tactics I am not really counting on them to honor my request. Based on all point stated above you have to ask yourself just what kind of shady political, non-profit, and charity campaign calling jobs Midwest Publishing would take on? Not any that I would like to receive calls from that is for sure. I heartily recommend you avoid Midwest Publishing for any reason as a customer or as a calling target. If you are a potential employee then ask yourself if you soul, spirit, and morals can swim in the murky river of slimy call center tactics. Have a good look in the mirror agent Michelle and Supervisor Jennifer. Please don't call me again in the future.

They profit from…read morerepublishing real estate transaction data under the guise of "public record," conveniently ignoring the fact that they are a private business selling this information to subscribers, many of whom are local businesses looking for new leads. Since my home purchase, I have been bombarded with solicitors at my door, at least in part thanks to PBJ handing out my information like a free sample. When I contacted them to request removal, I received an arrogant response from their Editor-in-Chief stating verbatim "we do not need any type of permission whatsoever in order to publish this data, nor do we remove it from the database". In other words, they are fully aware of what they're doing and simply don't care. Make no mistake, this is data brokering under the disguise of journalism. They exploit homebuyers' personal information for profit, offering no way to opt out. Their refusal to even entertain the idea of consumer choice speaks volumes about their ethics (or lack thereof). Shady business practices, zero accountability, and a complete disregard for privacy. Avoid this publication at all costs.
