I was forced into the position of being the site supervisor despite a language barrier with the crew and having to repeatedly follow up to get the work done as agreed, and a section of my wood fence had to be taken down multiple times, causing wear and tear. Because they got the job done at a reasonable price, I tried giving them another chance this year and requested an estimate. Santiago came out to the house for a walk-through, and I followed up by email with a detailed scope of work for a yard project that needed old soil, a concrete block, tree roots, and shredded tires removed and replaced with new topsoil. They never provided the price estimate. I sent several follow-up emails over a months time, including a final direct request a few days ago asking if they were interested in the project. I have been completely ghosted and received zero response. If you need straightforward tree removal and pruning, they can do the job, but you may have to micro-manage the work if the job requires things done a specific way or custom instructions (in my case, roots removed to a specific agreed upon depth). Reliable communication and professional on-site project management were lacking and made the experience more stressful than necessary. For all my future tree removal and pruning needs, I will be using locally based McKinney Brothers Tree Service instead. Their pricing is just as competitive, and their superior communication makes them the better option.

He uses vague language as to what exactly the scope of his work will cover. I tried multiple times, but failed to get him to spell out whether his price included what I had asked him to do. He throws in a "base price" at you for "what HE wants to do" but not what YOU asked him to do; then he wants to charge you extra for this and extra for that. Don't waste your time. Tree service companies are dime a dozen and there's no need to deal with unethical people.

They guy I dealt with, who's name I now forget, priced it reasonably so I booked the job. They were a little slow getting out, but this Spring was a mess with all the rain and so I cut them a little slack. They eventually got out (3 weeks later) and did a solid job. It was perfection, then again they took care of a lot and I did what I told them was most important-trimming back the hedges from the sidewalk. I received no phone call or notification from Stefano's about the fact that they have been for over a month "mowing" a dead lawn, or even that my lawn was dead in the first place and might need to be reseeded. To be fair, the tenants should have told me about it earlier, but it isn't their job. Stefano's is the company that I pay thousands of dollars a year to specifically to take care of this lawn!!!! For context, I have been using Stefano's landscaping since 2015, so 7 to 8 years now. Initially, when the company was smaller, they offered a customer friendly service that was attentive to individual customer needs. I live in the Montreal area and have relied on Stefano's landscaping to take care of the lawn for my property in Wakefield, MA, year after year. When I contacted them to ask why they had not advised me of the problem with the dead lawn, they blamed me for not watering the lawn, and that weekly mowings were a take it or leave it proposition whether or not the lawn is dead. They were completely insensitive to the fact I didn't know the lawn was dead, and that THEY DID KNOW and didn't advise me. Because they forced me to choose between weekly mowings or nothing, this left me no choice but to cancel the service. However, I thought it would be fair that they take responsibility for the many weeks they have now spent giving the lawn "services" consisting of driving to the property then driving around on a dead lawn without notifying me. Their response was to accuse me of being dissatisfied for wanting bi-weekly instead of weekly mowings (which was NOT the issue), accuse me of being inconsiderate for taking up other customers' time slots, and that they had after all "done things" on the property. Baffled by this response, I pointed out that this would result in a negative review online, after which they accused me of threatening to leave a negative review in retaliation for not receiving free "services" and that the owner of the company would contact their lawyer to sue me over this. IF IT IS NOT CLEAR FROM THE ABOVE, TO AVOID A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE, I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
