This place is ridiculous. I saw a car advertised online for 18k. Walked in the salesman we had was super nice took the time to show us all paperwork on the car and we test drove it. It said on the site it was pre certified. When we went to talk the deals he brought the manager out who showed some obvious piece of paper that they copy and reuse with adding an extra almost 4k on top of the car price. Saying some story of someone buying the car two days prior and they had to certify it. We told them they are misleading and should not post prices that aren't real online. Manager didn't care. I test drove a 21 Nissan Rogue today. While reading the sticker price, I see an additional fee of $3995! Edison Nissan charges this for an appearance package. Some wheel locks, pinstripe, $10 door guards, and paint protectant? Why on Earth would a new car need this? You can just wrap the car for like $500. Anyway, I cannot believe this business practice still exists to this day- especially during covid. Buyers save your time and energy before coming here. read more

bought a car here in oct 2022 and the sales man did great. treated me professionally. service did horrible. waited 3 hours for a oil change the first time. waited 6 hours for a strut the second time and 5 hours for another strut the third time. they love to charge for there own time. but leave customers waiting hours happily. Leased my first car from Edison Nissan and had no complaints. Second time around, I bought the car and it was a process. They tried to stick me with 3 months of lease payments after I turned it in, below mileage, on a request FROM THEM as they had a need for the vehicle. Now fast forward to a rear brake work and blower motor replacement at 46000 miles. I never take the extended warranty as I don't mind paying for repairs on a good quality vehicle. Well, brakes and blower motor are $1575 in Edison Nissan terms. This work at a normal shop is no more than $900.....Edison Nissan service department is a rip off. read more

My review is based ONLY on salesman interaction and my observation of the showroom and facilities. I visited Edison Nissan to view and test drive a used vehicle that wasn't a Nissan. My salesman was John McShane. I gotta tell you, I enjoyed talking to this guy. He wasn't flashy or too pushy. Maybe he figured I wasn't willing to deal w salesman games because I firmly requested he not enter my contact info into their database? Either way, the man seemed fairly candid and spoke highly of their dealerships reputation and commitment to quality. I enjoyed some of the 'stories' he told within our chat about the car I was there to test drive. Their showroom was spacious and seemingly clean. Their waiting area was probably the best of all the dealerships I've visited in the area; quant, clean and spacious. Even their mens restroom was clean. Points for that! Before heading in, I thoroughly read all the 'small print' under the car I was interested in. And in short, it says the pricing you see is ONLY OFFERED to previous clientele of Edison Nissan. So if you've never leased or bought a car from them in the past, you're beat. It's a pretty crappy sales tactic but hey, what do you expect from a car dealer? Exactly! Bottom line, if they really offered a great deal on a used car, I'd have bought one from them. I left there thinking, "Too bad they're used car pricing is terrible. My experience here was bad. List price of the Kia Sedona was ~17,900. However the sales person brought back a total price of ~24,600 which is almost 5000 more. It had stuff like Vin Etching fee of 300 dollars. I would prefer a no nonsense experience like Car Sense or Car Max from now on. Non of this haggling. After 3 years of leasing a 2019 Sentra, I decided that I wanted to buy the car out instead of buying or leasing a new one. Nissan requires that you visit a dealership to purchase the car. Toyota, for example, does not have this requirement and you are able to purchase the car via phone or online. I leased my car from Nissan Edison, which is where I was forced to complete the purchase of the car. I didn't have a great experience with leasing the car there, so I first attempted to go to a NY dealer to purchase it. I was told that if you're not financing, you have to purchase the car at the dealership where you leased it. The market value of the car was $10,865.73 as per the payout letter I obtained from Nissan. All I should have paid was the market value of the car in addition to taxes and document fees. The first estimate that the dealer came out with was over $17,000!!! I asked him to explain exactly what all the charges were, and he informed me that I needed to have an inspection (over $2,000) that was MANDATORY, taxes, fees, window etching, title and registration. I told him to take everything off of the estimate that was optional and not necessary to purchase the car. I remember he specifically said a window etching was optional. He came back with an estimate of $15,823.19 with $2,639 in "taxable fees." Also, during this time the dealer took the keys to my car. I believe he did this to check the odometer. But I didn't get them back until after my purchase and I was unable to leave at any time that I wanted. When he came back with the $15k estimate, I told the dealer I wanted an itemized list of what the "taxable fees" were. Then the manager came out and tried to negotiate with me. He told me "window etching" was one of the items in the taxable fees. And I said well I already told the dealer I didn't want that. I also told him that the "mandatory" inspection that is over $2,000 is complete bs. He kept arguing with me telling me that this was a new policy and things change and it is absolutely mandatory to do an inspection to purchase the vehicle. He said he would "make a call" to see if we may be able to purchase the car without it. Sure enough, after he made this "call," the absolutely mandatory inspection was not required for the purchase of the vehicle. We spent a total of THREE HOURS in this dealership. Everytime the dealer went to the back, we spent an hour waiting until he returned. This apparently seems to be a selling tactic to keep you essentially hostage by taking your keys and tiring you out by keeping you there for hours. The customer in front of us also looked aggravated and inpatient and wanted to leave because his dealer went missing for over an hour. I tried to keep negotiating with the manager, but he basically said there would be no deal and he wouldn't take off any of the remaining fees. We eventually agreed on a price of $14,029, which is at least $1000 over what I should have paid. This is evidenced by the fact that the contract of the vehicle said the price of the car was $11,856, when the payout paper obtained from Nissan specifically said "10,865.73." The document fee in NJ is $800. In NY, where I reside, the document fee is $175, so really, I overpaid at least $1,600. Had I known this beforehand, I would have just financed the car in NY. After spending three hours in the dealership, I just agreed to the amount because I didn't want to spend any more of my time dealing with any Nissan dealerships or starting over this process in NY. The dealer also told me that they needed to redo my registration because it was currently registered to a "leased" vehicle and it needed to be reregistered to me as the owner. This sounded absurd but I was told that I would have a temporary registration and would be getting temporary license plates (also why they needed my keys). They charged me $250 in DMV fees. But I didn't get either of those things. When I texted the dealer a couple of days later, he texted me back saying "no we only do title in NY, the registration is still good." In sum, Nissan basically forces you to go to a dealership so the dealers can try to scam you out of more money. The dealer I dealt with at Nissan Edison is named Abeth Vincent. I did not get the manager's name. So, here are a few tips to make sure you don't get ripped off like I did: Don't hand over your keys under any circumstance. Tell them that once the purchase is final, they can have your keys. Or, walk out to the car with them. Otherwise you will be stuck without a way to leave when you want. Make sure you keep track of the prices and categories on each estimate they present to you. They move money around into other sections. Ask for an itemized estimate. Do not accept arbitrary amounts grouped into categories such as "taxable fees." Also, you absolutely do not need to have an inspection on a car that you are buying ... read more

Stay away from this place. The dozens of bad reviews are ALL true. I went to look at a used vehicle advertised for $16,900 which seemed like a very fair price. After seeing it and taking it for a test drive I went inside with my salesman Larry, which attempted to explained that it was optional to have the vehicle certified but I had no choice. I have to pay additional for the certification whether I wanted it or not. WHAT? Yea that's what I said. He said it would cost a little more and that he would go to his manager and get me the best price possible. After a few minutes he came back with his manager which informed me that the very best price he could give me on this vehicle was $23,700 including tax. Almost $7000 more! I'm estimating at least $4500 of that is for the vehicle to be called certified. They are deceitful and unethical, they get you down there with low advertised prices then try to pressure you into buying the same vehicle or a different one at an inflated price. read more

Be careful with Les from Finance dept. I bought a car from them in October 2021. The person in the finance department Les didn't explain anything and I was about to leave in a hurry. They charged me for Stupid security+ and GAP insurance. Next day I realized and call them to cancel. They don't answer calls. So I went to the dealership continuously everyday for a week to cancel them. They gave me a form to fill. i filled it and notarized it. All of a sudden out if nowhere the manager Tom starts yelling at these 2 women.He then proceeds to storm away from them as if he was having a tantrum. I am sorry but we walked right out. You do not yell at anyone like that. Very unprofessional. As a manager of a store of my own I would have been fired for treating anyone in that manner. They are full of typical sales tactics. "If you finance I can get you a better deal on the car." Came back with $7,000-$9,000 higher and the price of the car stayed the same. Why? $2,000 loyalty fee! So, they wanted me to pay a penalty because I'm not a returning customer or giving them a trade in. Meaning I didn't let them take advantage and give me $500 for my car so I'm paying extra. Or I have to pay them, to let me buy from them? Yeah, that makes no sense. Mafia mentality. I'm paying for protection. Told them I'll go back to Pine Belt where I purchased my current Nissan and he tried to say I'd be charged there even though I'm a returning customer. Yeah, okay that's believable (sarcasm). $3,000 in extended car warranty to make it certified for 7 years. Sounds like an extended car warranty scam to me. $800 for back-office fees which is the only fee I thought was reasonable. They refused to keep the promise of lowering the price of the car for financing and refused to negotiate or waive any of the extra fees. Salesman told me I'd be back because dealerships are like men, they're all the same. Well, I've been to 2 more and guess what? No extra fees!! It's the cost of the vehicle, tax and tags. I think they weren't willing to negotiate because I'm a woman and they thought they could take advantage. The salesman also wanted me to lower my standards for a vehicle. Maybe get an older one or one with more miles. So, they wanted me to lower my standards to accommodate their fees. Again, it makes no sense. I'd recommend to everyone to shop elsewhere. I spoke with an Internet salesman who quoted me a price per his manager for a maxima. I made an appointment with him and everything. Once I got there, I was told he makes appointments so I can see a salesman and he has "probably gone home for the day." So I sat down with a salesman and showed him the emails between myself and the Internet salesman. I was then told that the Internet salesman was incorrect and had misquoted me. He also did not mention that I needed to bring an additional 3k for fees. This is the second time that we have been misinformed by this place just to get us in the door. I requested a manager come over so I can explain my experience. It took almost an hour for someone to even come over to us. This place has the absolute worst customer service. They offered us a gift card for the inconvenience (also told we would need to wait for a manager to get it for us- but we thought we were already talking to the manager) but I declined- as I truly want nothing to do with this place ever again. This is not how you treat a customer who has bought two cars from your dealership! Shame on you Edison Nissan. read more

Had an exceptionally positive experience there purchasing my 2017 Maxima. All the sales agents were courteous, professional and knowledgeable. My specific sales person, Ama Quakyi, was incredibly friendly and a pleasure to work with despite there being significant negotiations and some confusion over how TrueCar works. (Sidebar: it is more or less a waste of time) I live in Brooklyn and I always like to road test any vehicles I'm considering in New Jersey where there are open roads and very little traffic by comparison. So it was worth the 45 minutes back-and-forth to secure the vehicle. The dealership was clean although it would've been nice for them to provide water bottles or water of any kind to their potential customers beyond coffee. I guess I'm nitpicking at this point. I have been a customer of Edison Nissan for a long time now. My family have purchased 2 cars over the last few years and that would stop now due to their service department. To give a back story: They have been servicing my Ford Escape for years that I bought from them . They never detected a transmission issue. Around beginning of March I felt like something was right so my dad took it to them. Fernando the service guy said it's a transmission problem . Since I have a warranty we decided to get it fixed. He told us we need to wait for approval from warranty company for this service. We agreed to that. Few days later he confirmed warranty accepted the charges. They gave us a rental as the car was in the shop. He called us few weeks later saying that he has installed the transmission but now it needs to go to fords dealership for programming and warranty doesn't cover that . I believe he told my dad that its out of pocket and would cost around $160 or 190. My dad agreed to it. Now move forward to a month and the car is still not fixed. He tells us that put in a defective transmission and fords have rejected it and returned the car. He said we need to order a new transmission now. Now fast forward to may he tells us we finally got the new transmission, it's getting installed and then will be sent to fords for programming. He called my dad yesterday May 19th that the car is ready and total is $491. Two and a half months later!!!! My dad questioned this as that's not the price he has given us. He said I told you warranty doesn't cover programming which we know but they are charging us twice for their mistake of putting the wrong transmission. I took over the phone call as Fernando was getting loud with my dad and was making it seem like my dad can't comprehend. His tone was condescending. Then he got loud and defensive with me . Talking to us like we are stupid and don't understand how warranty works. I questioned the same thing as how are we liable for programming twice when you order the wrong transmission. He kept repeating warranty doesn't cover and started talking about how he has to feed his family. Excuse me ?? We all have families to feed not sure how it's relevant to this situation. He gives me warranty company number not sure how that helps as they aren't the one putting defective transmission. It was EDison Nissan service dept. If as a mechanic you can't figure out that the transmission is defective than maybe you shouldn't be doing what you are doing. He didn't like being questioned and was being so defensive and hung up on me. He knew they had screwed up. I have called their manger who hasn't returned my call. I have called Frank Taccett who is supposedly a VP. There's no customer service and no respect of customers. If that's how you treat customers I won't be surprised if you go out out business as I have seen many other reviews complaining about the behavior of staff and service provided. After that they tried to tell me I had to PAY FEES because I was NOT military, was NOT a recent graduate and was NOT a current Nissan owner. Came here for servicing my Nissan Altima. Originally was going to do a 30k service but also felt my brakes had issues too. Went in and spoke to Jennifer. She went over the possible problems my car was having bases on the sounds we told her the car was making. I liked that she was patient with us and didn't just rush us through the process. She told us they would do a inspection and contact us if anything came up. A few hours later, Jennifer called and told us we needed to change the brakes and cut the rotors. She also mentioned she didn't need the 30k maintenance just yet. She also told us the cost of each repair and how important each one would be. My experience at Edison Nissan goes down as the worst at any dealership. On the day that i chose my vehicle, i noticed a couple of screws on my driver seat were loose (no big deal as i hadn't put any money down yet and hadn't driven off the lot). My sales rep said he'd have it taken care of the next day and I'd then put my money down. I come back, the seat is fine. No issues so i leave. A week later i have to return because my filter need replacing (which means they didn't truly wash my car or inspect it fully before letting me drive off the lot). The receptionist can never answer my questions, they promise you gas cards and free oil changes but never stick to their word. I don't encourage anyone going here if you're looking for top-notch, reliable service. read more

Purchased a used vehicle from them, had it checked by my garage within the 3 days that was given with no major findings . . . drove the car around and the check engine light came on . . . took it back to the garage and the catalytic converter needs to be replaced at a tune of $1500! Mechanic has suspicion that the check engine light was cleared so that the car could be sold and the major repair would fall on whoever purchased it! Repair must be completed BEFORE inspection can be approved. If you are a used car buyer, be sure that the dealership agrees to fix any items of the vehicle so that it will pass inspection! read more
