Being new to Edna I wasn't aware of where to eat but lucked into a grilled catfish and shrimp dinner situation at Edna's Seafood Restaurant, which luckily had late opening hours allowing me to blow in at 815pm. If you like seafood eat here. There are SO many options you are sure to find something you like. I rarely post on a first visit but I am not likely to return to Edna any time soon. I almost didn't come here because I didn't think the posted pictures were very appealing. But against my judgement I came and I must say I enjoyed my visit. I ordered the lunch special of grilled flounder with came with dirty rice and staemed veggies. You also get a choice of salad or coleslaw. I like to try different coleslaws and found this one to be drowning in mayo. I posted my own photos that show the spices in which the fish is grilled. It was almost too salty, but I ate it with lemon and/or coleslaw. The rice has meat in it-ground beef. The veggies were perfectly steamed. I do recommend this restaurant. I came on a cold day at lunchtime. The locals do seem to enjoy this place and for good reason. The servers are friendly and helpful and aren't afraid to make recommendations or confirm with the cook if they don't have an answer as to how something is cooked. read more

Asked the server if the oysters were rolled in cornmeal or had a batter on them. She said she didn't know but would ask. She came back and said cornmeal so I ordered them. They came out battered and overcooked. When her supervisor cleared our table and saw the oysters left on my plate she asked if they were not good and my husband told her that they were not rolled in cornmeal like we were told and she argued with him that they were prepared in cornmeal. Having cooked for over 50 years I know the difference between cornmeal and flour!!!! Too bad this restaurant doesn't! read more

I was told by my hotel that this was a great new place in town. It seems to have taken over for a failed steakhouse that was there previously, called Lariat. After looking at the menu, it has reasonable prices and many items to choose from including fried and grilled seafoods, fresh meat burgers, cfs, gumbo, etoufee, frog legs, raw oysters, alligator, crawfish, etc. I ordered the 30 spicy boiled shrimp ($8.99), and grilled red snapper ($10.99). They had a full parking lot, so they must be doing a lot better than the steakhouse ever did. They serve domestic and mexican beer. The food was good, the appetizer came out first and 30 medium sized shrimp came out hot with potatoes and corn. After about 4 minutes, the entree came out and included dirty rice and steamed veggies. The veggies were seasoned similar to the boiled shrimp and the fish, so it seemed. I wasn't a big fan of the rice, but the snapper was pretty good. My biggest surprise was when the bill came, they played the ole switcheroo and charged me $10.99 for the boiled shrimp, instead of the menu price of $8.99. When I ordered it, I remember pointing to the menu item and they only asked me if I wanted it spicy. I said yes. I had no idea that would cause my meal to jump $2. First time coming to this place. I've been to a similar place in Hallettsville (I hear it's the same ownership). Sweet tea = delicious! Service = very nice, polite, and attentive. The fried seafood was good, with the exception of the stuffed crab. To me, the stuffing was lacking flavor. Overall, a pretty good experience. I plan on going back when they have crawfish and raw oysters! read more

If I could do zero starts I would, be prepared for a loooong wait, and their food is not amazing. I've gone here a handful of times and every time I go to give them another chance and see if they have better themselves...nope they still haven't. read more

Nice spot with good food. First off this place is kept really clean. The food is good. It's good quality ingredients prepared well. Not a lot of flare, just traditional fried and griddled seafood. It's a nice option for dinner for sure and would recommend to anyone in the area looking for seafood. read more

Pretty bad from the moment of seating till we left. Didn't bring straws with drinks-which isn't too bad. Once we ordered I asked for Etouffee-the waitress did not understand even after re-pronouncing it for her. I had to point to it on the menu. That should have been my first clue. Well...actually the first clue should have been that egg rolls were offered as a side dish for this Cajun favorite. Lol Calamari was decent as an appetizer. Once our main courses came.... Cocktail sauce for my daughters seafood plate had to be asked for. When it was brought in a yellow squeeze bottle....the bottle was clogged. It nearly exploded and some clear funny thing cane out of it...akin to a pineapple gummy bear! The etouffee was not accompanied by the egg roles and I needed to remind the waitress. They were clearly never ordered because it took about 5 more minutes and they were clearly smoking hot. Drinks were never refilled....not once. After we finished eating we waited....and waited. DON'T DO IT! High priced frozen food out of a bag. Hushpuppies frozen out of a bag and French fries overcooked. Cocktail sauce tasted spoiled. If you like a clean place and quality, fresh food, keep driving and don't stop here. Service was poor and our waitress went to clean the bathrooms after she dropped off our food. read more

Good and bad. The 3 piece fried catfish was tender and fresh - delicious! The chicken fried steak was slightly overcooked, but still pretty good. The 30 boiled shrimp for $8.99 turned out to be $10.99 if you wanted the corn and potato it was supposed to come with (misleading) - and the potato was undercooked, and the shrimp was NOT shelled or deveined - just headed and thrown in the boil. Hmmmm But I cannot give 4 or 5 starts because of the FLIES. I should NEVER have to spend an entire meal swatting FLIES. Was something dead in the kitchen? This is NOT OKAY. read more

My husband and I asked at a convenience store in Edna where was a good place to eat in Edna on a Sunday as we were passing through on our way home to lake Jackson from San Antonio. We were directed to Edna seafood. A classic type diner with very good fried shrimp, coleslaw and fries. The waiter was very attentive. We will stop here again! read more

Just had lunch here. It was pretty good! It tastes just like the one in El Campo. Wish the salad was better, but the cat fish was awesome!

They have the BEST fried squid and sauce!! The seasoning on their fries is so amazing! I also got the broccoli and chicken which wasn't as good as the fries and squid but still good. I loved the customer service! They made sure everything went smoothly. Will definitely be back. read more
