An old establishment with down home charm. Ramsey's has a choice of foods you won't find anywhere else and the staff are great. The servers can and will pick up on a joke and feed back into it. The entire staff is very personable. If you are looking for snooty ambiance and high prices, this is not the place. If you want good food and homey atmosphere all the way to hollering for somebody in the kitchen, this is the place to be. If your server is not writing down your order, don't worry, it will be right. My only complaint is they won't open another location in Port Lavaca. If you leave hungry, it is totally your fault. read more

Chicken fried Steak came out cold both plates baked potato also was cold So I decided to just get a baked potato! CFS came with 1 trip to salad bar I had already gotten a small salad because I was getting a CFS Then when my 2nd Baked Potato came out I was charged for Baked Potato and salad bar the was also one trip! So I only got a baked potato with the small salad I got! No compensation at all for the first round being cold! Better service. The waitress didn't check on us once. I asked another waitress if she could get me a box to go and she didn't even look at me or say anything, she was rude. I asked for sweet tea, no sweet tea, I wanted the southern fried chicken, they were out. The press looked like they were there all day. As we drove thru town, we saw this place was packed and decided to stop at lunchtime. Staff was quick and friendly. The place seems older, and needs a good cleaning. Pies in the pie case looked tasty. We ordered the daily lasagna special which came with coleslaw, seafood gumbo, bread roll, fried okra and a slice of cake. The food was edible. Devoid of taste, but not horrible. Please stop serving gumbo. Your roux is too watery, and the fact that you actually put imitation crab meat in gumbo is disgusting. If you want to learn how to make gumbo please get a real Cajun to teach you or at least get a Louisiana cookbook. And I promise you, neither of those would suggest imitation crab meat! I had the BLT with chips, just average diner food. Nothing by here to return for. read more

This place seems like it is always busy but not sure why. We recently moved here and have tried to find a decent breakfast place. Have tried it a couple times but the food is mediocre at best. Very few spices and the food is never hot when it arrives. The giant cinnamon roll was very disappointing, dry and tasteless. The biscuits were cold and so was the gravy. I'm here at Ramsey's right now. I read comments and online reviews and I decided to give the place a try. I was looking forward to some decent biscuits and gravy. When I received my order, I was disappointed! It was nothing like what people said online. There wasn't any meat in the gravy. It was watered down white slop. I also ordered Steak and eggs Now the steak is what anyone would expect from a Texas restaurant. That's serious business here. It's a good size steak , cooked just right, and a decent cut.
