Take your car elsewhere. They overcharge and they don't fix the problem. Their customer service is terrible. Save your hard earned money and use a reputable mechanic. I was burned $700+ dollars from them, the actual repair from a reputable mechanic was 125.00 out the door with taxes and it was fixed this time. We took our corvette in for a soft clutch issue and assumed the master cylinder needed replaced. They charged us over $500 to flush & bleed the lines but told us they replaced the master cylinder. A short time later the clutch went soft again while we were driving it - we had to have it towed. We called back to discuss this issue with them and they had no good explanation as to why they did not fix the problem and replace the master cylinder. Did they even check their work to see if the problem was fixed? They did not offer any assistance to fix the problem and I had to go else where to have it fixed right. read more

Where to even start....Back to the end of June early July when I was 9 months pregnant, I went to Ed's Car care for a service/break inspection/new rear shocks. I spent $1100 there for these services. To then come home and have 3 out of 4 tires loose, blaming my car "pulling to the right" on I-69's construction. Then to find 2-3 lug nuts loose on 3 out of the 4 tires with one lug nut even sitting at the end of my driveway. I returned to the establishment and I got a $25 gift card for the problem. Come 4th of July weekend, my brand new rear shocks were spewing oil and the "regular service" I had done wasn't done. My oil didn't even read like 1/4 up the dipstick and had to add an additional quart 1/2 on top of my "freshly serviced car" before it read on the dipstick. I ended up spending MORE money to have a family friend fix all the problems I just spent $1100 for. They said that since I didn't come back to their establishment (over the 4th of July weekend when everything's closed) that they couldn't refund me money for the shocks or service. At this point I swore I'd never go back. Then last Friday my husband's water pump blew in his car. We called all around yet Ed's was the only place that guaranteed a quick turnaround. As we are two working parents running a child to child care working now with 1 car. They guaranteed it to be finished by Wednesday this week as my husband NEEDED his car for Thursday. My husband called Tuesday AND Wednesday to only receive a busy tone. We showed up Wednesday at 5:20 after I picked him up from work for the whole place to be shut down and no one there. The door hours state 8-6pm. At this point we are beyond frustrated as we tried to give an additional chance to this place and now this is where we stand. I get a call Thursday morning from Eric stating the computers were down, yet for some reason he contacts me and not my angry husband who left his number for their contacting. How did they have my number if all the computers were down? I then go there Thursday to pay for the service but they couldn't run cards, so I had to write down all of my information. I left the $25 gift card I received for my tires being loose to be applied to the $1k bill considering we would not be coming back here ever again. Eric states "I will send an invoice for your approval and then run it." The moment I received the invoice I looked it over and replied, "you are good to run the bill, but I don't see the -$25 from the gift card". I then go look at my bank account and it's already processed and withdrawn. I called and ask for him to apply that -$25 and magically he can't because the computers are still down. So I'm unsure how he processed my payment in the first place. He reaches back out yesterday to tell me that he can't apply it but he can give me a $50 credit to my account for future services. In the end, it's not the aspect of the $25 not being applied, it is simply being wronged by the same company not only once but twice. It is extremely infuriating when they continuously aren't making things right, and try to cover everything with a "credit". *pictured is my brand new shock, as well as the oil added to even make oil touch my dipstick (on top of the fresh service). read more

I needed to have some work done on my jeep asap, after calling around the quickest I was able to get it in anywhere was about 2 weeks. A couple of years ago I had Ed's car care do some work on a different jeep I had so I gave them a call, they got my jeep in the very next day and completed the repairs they felt needed to be done. I paid for the repairs over the phone then picked up my jeep later that night, after hours. While driving the jeep I found that the problem still persisted.. the next morning I called them back and I was instructed to bring the jeep back in. They worked on my jeep that day and figured out what needed to be done, however it was late and they needed to keep it over night to complete it the next day. The next day when they completed the work I was notified that it was done and that there was NO CHARGE for this service. Once again I picked up my jeep after hours, my jeep runs great I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received from Ed's Car care. I especially want to acknowledge Justin, whom I spoke with over the phone during the process of getting the jeep repaired, i could tell that he truly cared about getting my jeep fixed and getting it back to me. I also want to thank Brian, the owner, for giving me a tour of his shop and then giving me a ride home (I was going to Uber). I will definitely call Ed's Car care again for anything I need done to my Jeep, I will also use them for my Chevy Cruz... I highly recommend them read more

Wanted an oil change and tune-up, received an $580 battery. I called Ed's Engines on Friday afternoon and requested a time when I could get a tune-up and oil change for my truck as I told the guy that the prior week I had it in for an alignment and everything was good with my alignment. Ed's Engines indicated I could drop it off on Monday. I indicated the truck was having problems starting and I would have it there before business opened Monday morning. My truck didn't start Sunday and I called a towing service to have it dropped off at Ed's Engines Monday morning before start of business. The towing service indicated it would be $65 dollars and I had him them put it on Ed's Engines bill. Done it before. I then called Ed's Engines and left a message after hours (before opening) and indicated I had the truck towed in and it would start. I receive a call at 11:30 on Monday morning by the mechanic indicating my truck won't start. Duh, I knew that (I thought they did too). The mechanic indicated it was on a charger and he needed to determine if it was electrical or mechanical. He went on to say the bill was currently at $253.00 for the towing and to put it on the charger. I thought to myself they were trying to stick me with a inflated towing charge and I blew it off thinking I would straighten it out when I came to pick up the truck. I receive a call Tuesday morning indicating I needed a battery and I had a hard time believing it as I thought I had just recently replaced it. The mechanic indicated it was four years old so I said replace it. I did indicate that I believed something was draining my battery because I've replaced a lot of batteries over the years. He said he would look into it. Wednesday morning I receive a called indicating my truck is ready for pickup. He tells me the bills is $582 dollars. I had no words. I go to pick up my truck at 2:00 and there isn't a single person to be found in the office or bays. Finally when someone did appeared I complained about the price and he indicated he did exactly what the order indicated. I paid and stomped out. As I was driving home I noticed the Check Engine Light on. It wasn't on before and now it is. So I call back Ed's Engines and tell them the Check Engine Light is on. Nobody mentioned it before with all the conversations I had with the mechanic or when I picked up the truck. He indicated I could bring it back in for the to diagnose the issues. I replied after charging me 580 dollars to diagnose a weak battery they were not going to touch my truck again. A few minutes later Ed's Engines calls back to tell me the error codes from the 'Check Engine Light' are related to the history of steering speed and steering angle. I again told him I just had it aligned. Nope I would have to bring it in to diagnose the problem and clear the 'Check Engine Light'. I hung up on him. I don't know if I got an oil change, I been so angry, I certainly didn't get a tune-up but I got the opportunity to take it back to fix a 'Check Engine Light'. I called the company that did the alignment and they indicated I could go in there and have the codes cleared for no charge. Bottom line. The office doesn't communicate with the mechanics and the mechanics generated hundred of dollars is billable hours that were completely unnecessary. They worked and diagnosed a problem that could have been solved by listening to their answering machine. A far as paperwork is concerned, I never got the tune-up or the oil changed as they wrote the work order after they started work. read more

Normally, I go to the dealership for repairs, but this time the dealership handled my issue in a way that made my BS Detector ping hard, so I called around and found Ed's. I spoke with Justin on the phone and he was very friendly (not my usual interaction with auto repair shops). After we talked I took my car in and asked them to verify what I was told by the dealership before the repair was done. They did and found out that the dealership was incorrect in their diagnosis and in fact the problem was with a part that the dealership had just installed the week prior. This saved me $1100. I will most likely be moving all my business over to Ed's. They made me feel comfortable with the process from the beginning to the end. read more

Brought in my car for A/C repair. They charged me $180 without actually fixing my A/C then told me it would be another $1000 to fix it. They also left my window down in the pouring rain so the inside of my car was soaked. Will not be going back here! read more

I've been going to Berger Auto for years but since McMahon purchased them and raised pricing I wanted to try to find someone else for my service needs. My experience with Ed's was a major disappointment. I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation at 10am. It wasn't finished until 11:15. This is an extremely long amount of time for this service. Without an appointment I would totally understand, but not with a scheduled appointment. The second issue was pricing. $85.49 with a $10 off coupon is way over market price for this service. Even McMahon is cheaper than this after raising pricing over Berger. The third, and reason I will not be returning, is you used the completely wrong oil. My car requires 0w20 full synthetic. The oil change was done with 5w30 semi-synthetic. This is haphazard to the point of neglectful service. I believe this should warrant you checking the knowledge of your techs and where they believed a semi-synthetic oil was acceptable in this instance. I was a mechanic for over a decade of my life and I would have been ashamed to handle a customer in this manner. I wish you luck and will continue to try to find a good service center. read more

Told me I needed a new engine because mine was damaged, got a second opinion and found out my engine isn't damaged at all and that when they put everything back together they didn't tighten everything properly and now my belt is ruined, and it was still in great shape. I took my 2005 Dodge Dakota in for an annoying squeak after finding Ed's on an internet search. The price quoted was very fair compared to another quote I had. The quality of work was top notch. They had a problem with their front end alignment machine discovered after taking my truck for a test drive which caused a delay. No problem because they were able to help with a loaner vehicle and quickly get my truck finished. It drives like it is new! These guys earned my trust. I had my car towed there on a Thursday because the car was not starting, no power. They called and told me it was the starter, $562. It was very overpriced, but since my car was already there I agreed to the repair. They said it would be done Monday. I called back close to closing on Monday and they had miscommunicated with each other and did not have my car ready. Finally on Wednesday they finished the work, and I picked it up. The shop is 1.9 miles from my home. I didn't even make it all the way home and the car broke down again, losing power. They sent a tow truck, which they said would be free, and said they would look at it first thing in the morning. Two days later, they called and said it was a whole different problem, over $1000 to fix, that just "happened" to break in the 1.9 mile drive home. They would not even entertain the possibility that the original diagnosis was incorrect. When I said I didn't have another $1000 they said I would have to pay the tow and another diagnostic fee, almost $200, just to pick up my still broken car. After a short argument they agreed to let me pick it up without the extra fees. read more

Wish I could give negative stars here! This place is a joke and will rob you blind. They're way over priced and will keep find new things to charge you for. And do unwanted work without your knowledge. We took our car there for a diagnostic to see why the computer wouldn't allow the car to start. They told us they'd call us to let us know what they found on the Friday it first got there. And they never did or even tell us they close on the weekends. They had our car for almost a week and half, and we had to be the one to repeated call for status reports. They only called us a handful of times. They repeatedly told us they had it almost done or it should be done tomorrow when we get the part we ordered. There seemed to always be another part they needed to order or replace. They told us our bill would be between $250 and $599. Guess what after they jacked up the prices and kept ordering more parts it's well over $2000. Even after we told them repeatedly that they needed to stop giving us the run around and finding new things. We don't have that kind of money and my husband is on the verge of losing his job. While this easy fix and their repeated it's almost dones. They only finished work and got it running after my husband hit his breaking point. And told them he was going to report them to the better business bureau and call the cops to get our car back. Also at one point they left our car outside over night with the hood open. And when my husband picked the car up they tried to get him to get something else fixed before he left. And we found out that the oil we had just got changed about a week before, was then replaced by them as well and we was charged for that as well. Also don't know how they have such high reviews, other then the fact that a lot of bad reviews keep disappearing for them. I've found a few who have had bad experiences and then go to show my husband and they have either disappeared or had them being called liars but who ever answers them. read more

WOW!!! Ed's Car Care Center is by far the BEST Auto service and repair shop in all of Fort Wayne, IN. I took my mom's car (she recently passed away) to Ed's Car Care Center. Brian, the NEW owner was amazing to work with. I told him I was looking for my mom's car to be detailed and cleaned. 24 hours later, I get a call from Brian telling my car was ready to be picked up. When I arrived the car was more than clean. It looked brand new. Not only was he able to get the cigarette smoke out of the car....he also had it smelling like a new car. This is the 3rd place we have taken it to. Everyone else here in Fort Wayne charged more and within 24 hours the car was smelling like a cigarette again.
