However, the patties are poorly formed, largely unseasoned, and small (6oz, hence the double). Mixed feelings on this but a burger shouldn't be domed in the middle nor should it be without basic seasoning unless it really is superior quality. And even then! We also ordered a freakshake, something they're known for. Our server said they were out of multiple ingredients to make it, so we switched to an alcoholic shake (Reeses with a shot of rum, as advertised). We received a thin, icy concoction that didn't taste much like peanut butter, along with a separate shot to be mixed in ourselves, making the consistency even thinner. Had our table at 6:30pm; so, we told the waiter what we were doing; he took our order immediately, brought the drinks, had our food in about ten minutes, paid the bill upon arrival of the food and still made it to the theater early. Bonus was that the had a toilet we could use before the theatre; and, the extra bonus, we came out at side door of the theatre and needed to use the toilet again. The staff let us in to use the toilet as they were closing. Special note: This restaurant has no service charge included. It was a good tasting burger, and I didn't feel like being the jerk to send it back. It wasn't burnt or bad tasting, just not expected to get a mid-well. It even had a little flag saying it was mid-rare. It's fine...I realized during my time in London that the UK just doesn't know how to rare up meat. So at this point, I'd give a 3 star. But the manager (I learned later...) came by to grab my empty plates (points for managers who "dirty" their hands), and asked me how it was. I...hesitated and he kinda knew there was something off. I told him about the mid-rare thing and he asked if he could get me dessert or something. Being utterly stuffed, I declined and asked for the check. To my surprise, there was a 20% off. When I asked my waiter why, he said the manager took it off because of the mid-rare thing! NICE! I don't blame the Byron, as I just figure that London doesn't know how to do American-style meat temps. So, I left the "discount" as a tip. Yes, I realize UK doesn't do tips. Burger didn't taste extra special, but it was still good. I also got some loaded fried to go along with it (fellow Americans - you will have to order fries with it - it doesn't just come with it like in the US). Also, get the mac and cheese - it's pretty good. I also tried their Soda Folk Cherry - very good and nice change from a regular coke.

The milkshakes are great though and you would probably struggle to find better. These tend to be very popular and what Ed's is famous for. You should go to experience the American style vibe and Rock 'n' Roll jukebox but don't expect an amazing quality meal.

The milkshake was very good - I had the Chocolate Snickers Shake and I was not disappointed...it was rich, thick, creamy and not too sweet. There were some issues with the staff during our visit, but management accommodated us and really provided an experience that we'd come back to. Management did a great job of making us feel like customer service was very important to them. Their menu is great since they have turkey bacon instead of pork bacon, which is difficult to find in most burger spots. Super skinny, crispy and golden..closer to a chip (or crisp). Service was friendly and prompt. You chose your table and are provided a menu. Your order is placed at the back counter and your order is delivered to your table. Carafes of water and cups are available to take near the back counter along with a couple of their house sauces. Certainly looked a lot more promising than the disappointing Five Guys a few doors down and cheaper to boot However, I was here for the rare-to-find-in-Britain French dip sandwich. The choice in the Dip part of the menu was roast beef or lamb, served with their appropriate accompaniments. For those unfamiliar with French dip, imagine slices of meat dipped in gravy in a brioche bun, served with more gravy in a bowl on the side. The idea is to saturate each meaty bready mouthful by dipping it into the gravy, a heavenly experience I discovered in the States The D&F sandwich was filled with excellent roast lamb but I did struggle to dip it effectively. It was generously overfilled and the next time, I shall push the meat in more fully into the sandwich before dipping. The bun held up well but I found myself making a bit of a mess on the tray. French dip is messy eating but perhaps not this messy! Kitchen towel is provided on the table as well as a clean up wet wipe. Engineering constructs aside, it was an excellent tasting meal though I'd probably omit the pickle and tone down the amount of mint sauce next time but that's just my palate Fries are interesting here. They're available plain with Australian seasoning, with squeezy American cheese or 'poutine' style with mozzarella cheese (not strictly poutine with no cheese curds) and grab or with added chilli too. I'm a huge fan of poutine, so the choice was easy. It was a slow night in the restaurant and their gravy wasn't piping hot, so my poutine, while nice, wasn't the melty cheesy gooey mess that it could be. To be fair, they took my comments on board and I shall be back Lastly, I had an excellent proper milkshake - the 330mls is enough. Alcohol is available at this sit down venue An excellent addition to the Wimbledon dining scene. I shall be back to try the more traditional beef French dip and with a few tweaks, 5 stars is on the cards. I'm excited!
