First day in Londontown and what do I see? My most favorite burger place! I mean I shouldn't have eaten here because Londontown has so many top Michelin Star places but we had just arrived and were starving. Joe was such a good sport and we got our "usual" we were able to clean a very dirty outside table so that was fun to people watch while we chowed down. The meat definitely tasted a bit different of course but it wasn't was. To this very day no other location tastes as perfect as the Washington Square location where I had my first. Maybe I'm just too sentimental about that beautiful location and the memories associated with that trip back in the 90's. We passed by this location many times during our 3 days in town. Fun

We came into shake shack for a shake. When it came turn to order our food, we were told that the shakes were out. Needed to use the restroom, and that was closed as well. Come on now shake shack, get your act together!

I was excited when I stumbled across a Shake Shack in London, I didn't realize that they had them across the pond!! I came here on a Friday night with a friend to have dinner and we had a fantastic time. The streets around us were packed, and everyone was having a good time. We managed to snag a table and chairs and we enjoyed our burgers and fries. The prices were extremely reasonable, and the food was delicious. It's Shake Shack, so they're always pretty consistent at delivering a tasty hot burger. Check this place out if you're in London!!

Shake Shack never disappoints. When I came to this location I liked that there wasn't a long line and was given a menu as I walked in. We ordered the Shack stack, cheese fries and a vanilla milkshake. Everything was out within 10 minutes. Although there was not a line to order there were many people already seated so we had to wait for a table. However, within the time our food was ready we were able to find one. I did also notice this location used to have a pitcher of water out but didn't this time.

I would like to be a regular enough customer here to find fault, but my single with cheese was delicious. Service was fast perhaps a little disorganized but nothing to complain about.

Ordered their Shack burger at £5.75 with an order of fries at £3. Don't know why the fuss?!! Yes, the patty was fresh. That's it. Fries were meh. Any frozen crinkled cut fried up will taste the same. VAT on food is 20% in London. And we are complaining here in Toronto at 13%. Burger King tastes better, really! Not worth it.

The chicken is super tasty. I had the chicken ranch burger with jalapeños. It was awesome. We also had the jalapeño ranch fries. They were ok. Not spicy at all, and a bit too much mayo for my taste.

I love shake Shack! There, I said it. They make their food different enough to be different than everyo other burger place. On this particular day however, the food was good but the restaurant, in my opinion was dirty and the restroom was beyond nasty. Even the floor was matted with food. I realize they are busy and have a lot of people going in and out but wow! The New York City ones were cleaner, which I didn't even think was possible.

    Rotten lettuce on burger.

Worst Shake Shack I have ever visited. Really loud inside, somewhat dirty feeling atmosphere similar to what McDonald's used to be ten years ago. However, the worst thing was that I got rotten lettuce on my burger! It was just wilted brown and rotten. Disgusting. The staff changed it immediately and made me a new burger and was very friendly, but this should just not happen when you pay this much for burgers! Yuck. Extremely poor quality control. The fries were also very very soggy, not nice at all. I'd recommend staying away from this one.

Double cheese burgers with bacon - fries were awesome. Huge portions!

Ed's is very much a retro American diner with their signature sign encased in bright neon lights, mini jukeboxes and a classic diner menu of milkshakes, hot dogs and fries. I wasn't crazy about the food. The cheese on their cheesy fries tasted exceedingly processed which made it quite sickening to eat after a while. Their classic hot dog was nothing to rave about either. For the price you pay, the food tastes more like overpriced fairground fare than tasty diner grub. I suspect they simply need to use better ingredients. The only saving grace was the peanut butter and banana milkshake which was sublime. It comes in a massive portion (enough for 2 servings) which I obviously slurped all by myself because of how good it was. It almost made up for everything else. I probably won't go back for the food but I'm already dreaming off a post-holiday milkshake back at Ed's.

Being a German, it's simply a treat to once in a while treat yourself to a Currywurst or a Krakauer...and so I appreciate the folks at Wurst Club for giving me this opportunity. What I missed was a place to sit and by means, this is nothing that the shop owners can do about, due to the space constriction, but not working around the area, I had to find a place to eat my wurst. I had ordered the homemade Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) and while the portion was plenty, the taste didn't exactly hit the right spot. (Maybe I can give away my mother's recipe, as her potato salad is delicious!) My tip: go for the Currywurst as this is the most German you can get. I stumbled across this place on the way to Leadenhall Market and made a mental note to return and try it for lunch. I ordered the Berlin Berlin meal deal which is Curry Wurst, Chips and a drink for 6.95 which puts it in the top end of my lunch time pricing. Considering that it markets itself as German street food is a little pricey but then again the rent on a unit on Cornhill will be steep. There is not much space to eat inside so I would recommend The Wurst Club as a takeout place. I was impressed with the food, the curry sauce on the sausage tasted great and the chips were very crispy. I'll definitely try it again.

One of the latest arrivals in the heart of London's Soho is TOP DOG, which as the same suggests specialists in hot dogs in a variety of glorious forms. I was lucky enough to be invited to Top Dog for an exclusive pre-launch menu tasting where I, as well as a host of other journos and influencers were given the chance to sample THE ENTIRE menu (in mini form!) and give our feedback on everything from presentation to price, names and everything in between. It was genuinely one of the coolest things I've had the opportunity to do; to have a new business welcome, and even encourage, our honest feedback to help them grow and to get it right. Top Dog is the brainchild of mega-super-businesswoman Marissa Hermer (you may recognise her from Bravo's Ladies of London) and her husband, leisure entrepreneur Matt. Marissa, a food and beverage brand management consultant, also own restaurants, bars and clubs in London and internationally, so the restaurant world is nothing new. Overseeing the new franchise is Fortnum & Mason CEO (and GQ Innovator of the Year 2014), Ewen Venters. I was lucky enough to work with Ewen during my time at Selfridges, so I was excited for this partnership. the venture is a self-funded dream, mainly started thanks to Marissa's desire to find a quality, American-style hot dog in Britain. Top Dog serves a range of taste bud-tingling hot dogs, all made from organic meat, in a range of classic and specialty ways. All of the meat is cured, smoked and hung in London, add a British element to the American theme, and ensuring quality of produce. There's even tofu dogs for veggies! There's also a selection of mouth-watering side options, from fries (and amazing sweet potato fries) to pulled pork, cabbage, slaw and chili; all which are available on your dog too! Then there's the shakes, including salted caramel, chocolate and vanilla as well as a Jack Daniels float. The Jack Daniels float was probably the greatest ways I have ever ingested alcohol. Period. I also need to take a moment to talk about the brownies. These aren't just any brownies, they are just about the best brownies I have ever eaten. We are talking so seriously soft that you can hear the moisture as you tear it apart. As for the taste? I ate three in a row so that should answer that one. Top Dog is a really exciting addition to the Soho line up. I love that they have worked really hard to integrate into the psyche of the neighborhood; it seamlessly blends in. Where as other eateries, that shall remain nameless, have exploded onto the street uncaring for the aesthetics of Soho and now cause a jarring view for Soho lovers. Continuing the idea of becoming part of the neighborhood, a nod also needs to be paid to the Top Dog's awareness of it's local clientele - during London Pride, Top Dog renamed it's signature Soho Dog to the Pride Dog, with one pound from each sale going to a LGBT charity. Good food and good for the soul. WINNING. Head to my profile for more reviews of London restaurants and find out more, including pictures, on my blog, The Science of Appearance.

I was at this food hall in December 2013. It's located on the ground floor of this large department store. The displays are extremely fancy and captivating. I recall seeing mini cakes that looked yummy. Even the fruit in the display case, as in apples, pears, and more, looked amazing and in pristine condition. The pastries looked scrumptious. I could smell the croissants! You can get sandwiches, from egg salad to lobster rolls. Feel like steak and chips? Yep, you can get them here, too. I frankly couldn't tell you what you can't get here. I felt like a dream seeing so much good food, but it wasn't. It's definitely worth a visit, whether you end up browsing like me because the prices were steep or you end up splurging. There was a wine section that had shiny bottles of fancy wine varieties. You could get cheese to complement your wine. Everything in this store looked beautiful and elegant. I would do a few things differently when I return to this food hall: - I'd do afternoon tea. I'd actually splurge to experience tea here because I didn't realize that I could until after my Harrods visit. - I'd find a hotel room with a fridge, so I could bring back pastries, macarons, sandwiches, and more. - I'd dine here to experience the entire food hall experience instead of dining at a restaurant within Harrods. The burger itself was savory, and the bun less dense than I anticipated. The components are relatively simple patty(s), onion, burger sauce, and buns. Again, the bun was so airy, and the burger so simple yet delicious I could have easily eaten another patty. I should have ordered the double cheeseburger.
