There's nothing fancy at this place, and to be honest if I'm going to a fish & chip spot, that's what I want to see. The service was good, and three orders were served in less than 10 minutes after order. The staff here were fantastic - very funny and down to earth. I suppose it's what you come to expect from the smaller, mom & pop type restaurants here in Nova Scotia! The food was great. The fish was fresh, and the fries were home made. The fish wasn't fried in a heavy batter, which I found refreshing. It flaked apart and was certainly a fair size. I ordered the special of the day, which included their battered haddock and scallops with fries. I can say that the scallops were also delicious, deep friend in the same batter as the haddock. I'm not very big on the type of fries that this type of restaurant typically serves because I feel that they're overly saturated with oil. I had the same feeling here, but I know more people enjoy this type of fry as opposed to the ones at a fast food spot. If you're one of these people, and you enjoy seafood, then I'm sure you would absolutely love it here. To note: This place serves only Coke, not Pepsi. But, they serve it in the way it was meant to be served: in the glass bottle. I thought this was a great touch, especially for a classic fish & chips joint.

Service was excellent, professional and quick. Maybe too quick, our appetizers arrived before our drinks. The menu is innovative but still traditional. Fish and Chips, mussels, oysters, chowder along with burgers and sandwiches, including a lobster roll on a locally made croissant. But also Pad Thai and a Bulgogi Rice Bowl. All of our dishes were wonderful. But what most impressed me is the extensive gluten free menu, complete with a fryer and gf batter for the fish & chips and fish tacos.

Fortunately, the owner of our Inn told us that The Naked Oyster recently opened and is a sister restaurant to Rebecca's. What a beautiful experience it was! It was very busy but there are several places to sit comfortably outside. The Adirondack chairs were very nice, with a view of Mahone Harbor. After a bit of a wait, we were seated. The service was excellent. I can't imagine I'll ever experience a more delicious chowder than their Captain's Chowder, a creamy clam broth with generous portions of scallops, mussels and haddock. We also had a half dozen local oysters that were perfect. High marks for the Caesar Salad too. I would put this on the "can't miss" list for the area.

Finally someone in the Valley who can make REAL food and not shut down for the 'winter'! Great year…read moreround hours open Wednesday to Sunday, 11 AM - 8 PM. We have been excited to try this spot since it opened in the fall but it was always super busy but the wait was well worth it. This is a take out so if it's off-season, expect to sit in your car to wait for your food or pre-order ahead of time if you want it ready when you show up. You get a little buzzer to take to your car if you do choose to wait, so it's a great system. In the summer, there is a lot of outdoor seating at picnic benches. The chicken shawarma was massive and delicious! Fresh ingredients and fluffy pita bread. Good bang for your buck. The 'hot' fish was also really good but not actually spicy. The only things I'd suggest the owner to change is to make the sauce less runny to avoid making the fish batter soggy and to switch from shredded to leaf lettuce - it would make less of a mess. We got fries to share but we could have done without. They're nice and crispy and not overly salty. Quite a few fun 'maritime' options on the menu that we will be back to try like lobster sandwich and lobster poutine. It's nice to finally see someone investing in the area with good food. The area really doesn't need another deep fried, overly battered greasy fish and chips place so this is very welcomed. Super accessible right on the highway. Lots of parking. Looking forward to seeing what else the owners do with the place!
