I signed up for the six-hour Saturday class and they were generous enough to have pre-study materials available so that I'd be feel more ready to take the optional state-proctored exam after the class. My instructor John(?) was great, very engaging and down to earth. I imagined I'd be rather bored in a six-hour notary lesson, but timepassed well. The information came fast but it was informative, lively and interactive. Breaks were well-timed. Not all the questions that appeared on the exam were covered in class, but MOST were; I passed the exam on the first go. Yay! It costs $40 to take the exam so I really didn't want to fork up the funds for that again... I've been able to purchase notary supply packages from them and Kim at the CNA has been especially patient in helping me figure out the steps I've needed to take as my commission has been approved. I attended class on Jan 26, 2013. My day started with sign in and getting the materials, nice and easy. The teacher, Kim, is awesome and super friendly, she has been a notary for a long time so she has plenty of real world experience! She also had an assistant teacher, John, he had a different style but was also very good. We had lunch break where we did the fingerprinting and took our photos that you need for your notary test application. After lunch and a few breaks we had a final review session that refreshed everything we learned. Then the testing proctors came and after a brief set up we took the test! You find out your results in a couple of weeks after the Secretary of State processes the exam. From speaking with the instructor through email, I learned my entire class passed! The instructor even sends follow up emails to make sure that you know what the next steps are! Through out the class they offer practical wisdom and materials you can use to assist you in your notary duties. The nice thing is they have all the materials on hand and they are not overly pushy about you buying.The teachers are approachable and will assist you with any questions and even said they'd answer any e-mail questions you have after taking the class! Plus, they did a good job making a bland topic interesting! The locations are convenient as they offer the classes at local community colleges all over the bay area including Las Positas Livermore, San Mateo Community College, Santa Rosa, Visalia, San Francisco State and more!!! Miss Josie thinks highly of herself, which is fine but she doesn't need to remind everyone that she is #1 every single day. She has no problem calling someone stupid or how she likes to say "no coconut meat" or "mulala". She had no shame on calling one of the other students "Mulala" and had no shame on doubting one of the students. She continually would say "I think ____ quit" or "I think ____ isn't going to make it as a CNA" as a teacher it is not your job to doubt a student but to encourage them. Also she can't hear a majority of the time which was quite annoying and $1600+ for the program is too much in my opinion, I did the M-F AM class, it was TORTURE. Be prepared to sit in a small room listening to Miss Josie talk on and on and on, about things that shouldn't even be mentioned in a class, AND about very personal things. The scrubs and handbook and fingerprints not being part of the $1600 price is ridiculous. $1600 is already so much and she's too cheap to include the other important necessities!? We also didn't get a graduation, which is ridiculous, just because we were are small class doesn't make us any less deserving of a graduation, she told us we'd take the final exam and have a graduation just for her to offer us a graduation the next day (after the final exam) which is crazy, we don't have free time we have jobs and school and things we need to do, it could've been planned better. Clinicals was actually pretty great, it was refreshing to not be in a lecture for 8 hours a day. I would think twice before choosing this school, I only chose it because it was closest to me, but I'd definitely choose another school if I could start over. Please choose a school that will pay for you state exams, scrubs, handbook, etc. also it's a bit weird how this school is "SO Great" and "Ms Josie is #1" when there's only 11 google reviews and only 6 yelp reviews when this school has been open since the 90's...makes you really wonder.....let's see how long this post lasts. The other schools rushed their students too much and didn't guide them that well with the process of getting licensed. Vallejo Nursing School is the complete opposite. Josie is very knowledgeable and will teach you all the things you need to know to be licensed and if you are struggling, she's very patient and passionate in helping you. She provides nourishments to keep our brain active because of the long hours and keeps us entertained along the way during clinicals. She makes all of us feel like a family and all of us were very comfortable with each other considering the amount of days of only getting to know each other. It's as if the place is a safe place to be. And I was there during the peak of the pandemic. Now comes for the hard part, review week and the state exam. I have test anxiety and this was my first actual "state" exam so I was so nervous and was counting down the days to get it over with. Josie along with her staff are great support system and will NEVER make you feel alone. I sometimes get off track and lost but they're so patient and will guide you UNTIL YOU GET THAT LICENSE. I have had baby highlights done before, and I have never had such an awful experience in my life. Unfortunately, the results looked almost exactly the same as my original color and even appeared darker in some areas. What made the experience more frustrating was that the instructor did not agree or acknowledge that the result was not what I had requested. As a customer, it's disappointing when your concerns are not taken seriously. I paid $120, and like everyone else, I work hard for my money. Now I have to go somewhere else and spend more to get this fixed. I truly had hoped to become a regular client here, but after this experience, I would not recommend this place to others.

As a day care provider for the past 20 years, I am required by law to take a recertification class for CPR every other year. I have done this so many times, My schedule is that I have to take it between January and March of each year. Every class has an average of 10 students who each have to pay $70 to spend a whole day going over material. The day that I went was in January and was quite cold outside. However the room was was freezing as well. It was 52 degrees. When I asked the instructor whether they had any heat. she just laughed and said "That's so funny/." I was surprised that no effort was made to turn any heat on in the room. As we sat, none of us could take off any of our coats and those that had hoods on their coats soon had them around their faces and we had to hold our hands against our bodies to keep them warm. While others may be more timid, I am not one to suffer in silence and I repeatedly complained about the temperature. Finally the other students felt comfortable enough to join me in the complaints as well. We were so cold we could not even attempt to enjoy the cheap dollar store cookies and coffee provided as refreshments. I am a frequent visitor to the dollar stores so I immediately recognized the brands. I sipped at two cups of coffee,even though I didn't like it, just to try to warm up by drinking something hot and holding it in my hands. At one point, someone asked to let us at least open the curtains so that the sun could come through but we were told it could not be done, until one of the students got up and did it herself. The instructor did finally call someone to adjust or fix the heater but it was around noon before we had teat. Again the teacher's covering of the subject matter is not the issue in this review, it is the environment that I had a problem with and I am sure most other people did as well. And the fact that they were unwilling to spend even $5 per person on us for decent refreshments. The environment was so hostile due to the temperature, that I caught a cold and had to take the following Monday off work because I was too sick to attend to my job. I hope that the next time I have to take this class, the school will seriously take into consideration the comfort of the students.

Not even a month into it and I was regretting and dragging my feet to in everyday. My 1st instructor taught use more about his personal life then the actual subject. Didnt follow the way he was supposed to teach us whiched caused a big issue for those who were going to go into the next class. He passed everyone regardless. Had a motor project and passed us all even though none of us got the motor to work. He didnt really even try to get it running. You don't learn in the traditional way. You don't learn from A-Z. They will throw you in wherever the class is currently at. So you maybe learning the very end of the book before you even learn the beginning of the book which is bad if you are completely new to the subject and don't have any knowledge or experience. You don't jump into HVAC right away which is normal. You'll be doing electrical theory but my instructor didn't even go over HVAC electrical. I was learning more how to be an electrician then HVAC technician. Once I got into HVAC I was told in was going to take my certification test at the end of that month. Which is beyond stupid. They gave me a study packet to help prepare me for the test. By the time I had to take the test I failed of course but wasnt worried. Was told i had 3 attempts to take the test. The very next day after I took the 1st test i was told to take it again, and again I failed. The day after the 2nd test I was told to take it again and use the study packet because the head of the campus wants us to pass. Probably to give him a bonus or something like that. Well I'm not going to pay them to cheat on my future. I tried to talk them but the head of the campus "wasn't in today". I tired to call and kept going in to talk to him about why they wanted me to cheat. But kept getting the same response. I called them and told them I was dropping out because the cheating was the last straw. Then it seemed like they actually cared about my problem. I finally got calls back from the school and told them why I was leaving but the lady seemed not to really be paying attention and wanted me to go in and sit down with the head of the campus. I wasn't going to waste my time with them anymore. Said in was going to go in but didn't. I told them about it and they didn't seem to care until I left.

Bonus: the staff here are the hidden gem of this district and are severely undervalued. Olympic started in the 60s in the basement of a church. Today it is a thriving community that is helping catch students and giving them the support they couldn't access or was never given at a comprehensive high school. We are strictly credit recovery. The students graduating is what makes it all worth it. During their time at Olympic/Alliance, students have access to a smaller setting, flexible classes, and alternative/creative ways to earn credit. Additionally, there is high staff support and high teacher involvement to meet the often eclectic needs of our students. I hope that Olympic/Alliance continues to be a strong program within our community, and those in need will access it when the time comes.

My Grandson went through his Freshman year at Olympic High School. What a great school for kids…read morewith problems, small classes, counseling and there was always someone for him to talk to when he was having a bad day. The staff is great and really cares about the kids. The one down side is that there is know athletic programs for these kids. My grandson plays basketball and is pretty good, they had a program for a while and then it was cancelled. These kids need and athletic program more than any other high school kids. To play they have to keep their grades up and pay attention in class and their teachers. For a lot of these kids, their sports was all they had.
