They do a lot of advertising so I guess that's where a lot of it goes. Also there's extra cost of having a person just for giving estimates. Downsides could be details not conveyed to the crew or having to explain it again. On the plus side, they were available fairly quickly. Or is that a bad thing? I guess if you have an emergency and need tree work done right away and money is not a priority, give them a call. But if you have time, always get multiple quotes and check their insurance and licenses, don't just trust their word.

They gave me a very competitive bid on trimming my two cherry trees and cutting down and removing the stumps of the Chinese Elms that had taken over my backyard. I was able to schedule easily with Dakota and when they got to my house they had everything set up quickly and they were very careful of my flowers as well. They got everything done faster than I thought possible and explained more about why trimming my cherry trees on a schedule was important. After they pruned my cherry trees we had the first big harvest we had ever gotten from those trees. 10 out of ten would recommend them. After a crazy summer storm toppled a massive tree, I needed it removed fast. I looked on Yelp and…read morealso had a friend recommend Atlas, so I asked for a bid that would be required by my insurance. The best part of about the whole experience was how fast they were able to get things done. The tree came down about 7pm, and I had a bid before noon the following day. We pulled the trigger after getting approved by the insurance, and they were onsite within two hours, and had it all gone and done darn close to within 24 hours of the fall. Now, that is probably not a realistic expectation all the time--they happened to be working on another project nearby and were able to mobilize equipment--but getting a 50-foot cedar off of your house is not a sit-around-and-wait kind of job. I was pleased to have the crane out. It might quite the spectacle for the neighbors, but not every tree crew in town has a crane and the fact that they were able to remove the tree in segments, safely, and lift it off with that crane was very reassuring. Maybe (?) it could have been done without the heavy equipment... but I'd rather always be safe than sorry. Now, that kind of rush service comes at a premium. We had a full crew here for nearly the entire afternoon, and the crane, and all the cleanup, and with a post-storm rush charge we were over $3500 for the whole ordeal. But the insurance adjustor seemed to find it reasonable, given all the circumstances, and though I probably could have found a cheaper alternative, I felt good about Atlas. As others have stated, Mike is the lead sales guy and is good to deal with. I didn't have to deal much with the crew, so I can't say if they're holding up their end. But they did get things taken care of quick, and cleaned up everything behind them, didn't cause any additional damage, and that's really all I would expect. Unfortunately, in the entire industry, there does always seem to be a disconnect between the office and the labor, as I found while seeking additional quotes.
