This review is long overdue. It's been 4 and a half years since I got the keloid surgery on my jawline here. Biggest mistake of my life coming to this practice . Lauren balbas was my usual P.A that I saw regularly and she's okay . Sorta cares , sorta doesn't . First time I asked her what I should do about the keloid on my jawline .She said I should just do steroid shots in my keloid making it shrink in size instead of cutting it off via surgery .There's a high chance of the keloid just coming back twice the size she told me if I cut it off . I agree and don't do the surgery . Silly me . I come back a year later and ask her the same thing . She says I should just do the shots . I agree to do the excision of the keloid because there's still a chance it could go away , right ? and she has to ask Edward Kramer to get approval . Edward Kramer walks into the room . Keep in mind he has two students doing a shadow day with him today . One guy and one woman who's name was Julie Kramer , who I believe is related to him . He takes a look at my keloid and pretty much agrees to do the surgery . He doesn't try to convince me to just do the steroids shots which is the best thing to do I have learned only afterwards . Seems like his judgment this day cost me a lifetime of insecurity and ugliness . Either he has no idea what he's doing or he wanted his shadow day students to just "see" something happen this day so they can get some real life experience . Oh boy was that a bad decision . I feel like him being the head dermatologist of this practice that he should have convinced me more not to do the surgery that day . He has way more knowledge than me about the pros/cons of the surgery . Below are some pictures of before , during, and after the surgery . What's even more wild is I came back here after the surgery to just do steroid shots on something they started !!! The steroid shots made the keloid smaller. This time Edward Kramer was in charge of seeing me when I would come back monthly for these steroid shots . He made my keloid on my jawline way more deeper than it should with the steroid shots . Now if you look at my jawline on both sides of my face , you can tell one side is deeper than the other . Ridiculous ! This man has no idea how to treat patients . It's funny he was super nice to me everytime I came for the keloid shots like he knew he might have caused all of this . Don't bother seeing Edward Kramer . He's a terrible dermatologist . read more

I made an appointment because I started to get sun rashes and bumps on my arms and i have never had a reaction like this before. Dr. Kramer's assistants got me in the next morning and I met with PA Julie who was very kind and gave me my options and Dr. Kramer was too. I'm guilty of several deadly sins, vanity being one of them! The only time i've ever been to the dermatologist was to make me look good! Back in my early twenties I loved tanning both indoors and outdoors, drinking all night and working the next day without sleep, eating like crap and only having dancing as my form of exercise. Here I am about to enter my mid-thirties and I'm paying for all the shenanigans I did. Some of it was worth it! I'll tell you, there was one thing I wish I could take back, and that is my past obsession with tanning. I'm olive complexioned and I always thought that because I harbored cambodian heritage I'd have more immunity from the effects of the UV rays. One thing I ignored, was the obvious fact that I had Irish heritage as well! I have a whole lot of moles and as it turns out, having a lot of moles is a risk factor and adding onto my past love of tanning... isn't a good combination for the well being of my skin. So, I came to Dr. Kramer to have some questionable moles looked at. His staff were very professional and friendly, the nurse who brought me to my room was extremely likable! She was bubbly, but not annoyingly so. ;) The doctor had wonderful bedside manner, he didn't scare the bujeezus out of me he educated me on what to look for, he removed some moles and kept me well informed throughout the entire procedure so that I wasn't nervous. I'll be happy to come to Dr. Kramer when my indulgence of the 7th deadly sin (pride / vanity) is surfaced and I go for some cosmetic treatments, like a laser or exfoliation treatment. ;D read more

I heard about Dr. Kramer on Yelp and I am so glad I trusted fellow Yelpers! First of all, I had just switched my insurance and I didn't have my new card yet. I brought as much information as I could get for the staff and they were very flexible. They took everything I had and called to verify for me. Second- I have to say that I hate going to the doctors. I was so very nervous going into the appointment- I knew that I had some moles that needed to be checked, but had no idea what to expect. I soon realized that I was nervous for no reason. Dr. Kramer and his nurse made me feel so comfortable. He checked all over and told me he wanted to remove some of my spots that day. With just a couple very little shots (pretty painless) he was able to get everything off without me feeling a thing! I was able to leave my appointment (which took less than 1 hour) and go straight to work feeling fine. Fair skinned, I have to visit a dermatologist regularly. I found Dr. Kramer's office when I was a teenager and I have stayed with their office for nearly 10 years. PA Shien-Lin Garrett is AMAZING! She is the kindest physician I've ever been to (seriously), she's extremely thorough and gentle when it comes to a possibly painful procedure. I'd recommend Dr. Kramer and PA Shien-Lin to anyone. I've been struggling with hormonal cycstic acne ever since I got off birth control. I never had acne as a teen and it was so embarrassing to just be getting it now, but I didn't know who to ask for help. Dr. Kramer didn't throw 5 different treatments at me hoping one would work, and me purchasing the whole regiment. We started with one treatment and if that didn't work we'd move on to something else. Lo and behold treatment #1 did the trick. I'm going out makeup free for the first time in a long time today, and I feel good about my skin again. I went here only once so far. I had a dark spot on my cheek and needed it removed. Dr Kramer was super nice and spent quality time with me even though I was there for something so simple. Drove through 30 minutes of traffic, took the day off, wasted time and gas only to be turned away because they misunderstood my insurance carrier as BC PPO. They said they have to reschedule for with another doctor who accepted my Blue Shield PPO. Terrible, awful, poor service ever. This was my second appointment just to check the progress of my 1st appointment and I was overcharged for the service which was never provided. My appointment was just 8 minutes and they charged me $325 and they billed my insurance for long visit of 39 mins while I was waiting in the waiting room from 3 to 3.40pm and I was called in at 3.40 to meet the doctor. When I called the billing department and explained what happened that day, the lady was so rude and said she needs to go and she disconnected the call. If you are charging for the service then make sure the customers are receiving it. The doctor clearly said if I am comfortable with the service only then we can go ahead. After 1 try I said no because doctors hands were shaking so I wasn't comfortable. They aren't even modifying the bill which was overcharged now. I feel so terrible about the visit as atleast the team should be kind not rude for any of their customers. read more

I saw Dr. Hicks to get a small cyst removed from my cheek. It was pretty standard and got done relatively quickly. The issue I had was the biopsy Dr. Hicks recommended. Hindsight being 20/20, why he would recommend a biopsy is questionable since mine presented no abnormalities. Fast forward two weeks and no call from the office with my results. SO I had to call myself. I spoke to Leslie who told me over the phone it's negative. Seeing how lackadaisical they seemed to be about my biopsy I decided I'd like to see the proof and make sure I'm getting the correct information. I asked for a copy of the lab report to be emailed and received something different altogether. After making a second request, I received a form on office letterhead with my biopsy results signed by Dr. Hicks. Um what ?! Where is the official looking 3rd party independent lab report ?? When I questioned it I was told it was done "in house" and that was the official form. So ok but when I requested the name of their "in house" pathologist or dermatopathologist (a highly trained physician who specializes in diagnosing disorders of the skin under a microscope) I basically got ghosted. No response to my email, when I called the office I was told I could speak to the office manager then put on hold and told Dr. Hicks would be calling me (insert sound of crickets because he never called). I would not recommend an office that can not answer simple questions and isn't transparent with their patients. read more

Dr. Kramer is the best! By far the most attentive doctor I've ever had. It's so refreshing to meet a doctor who truly cares about his patients' health and doesn't rush through appointments at all. I first came in with a skin condition that I developed due to an insane amount of insect bites I got from spending time in a jungle overseas ... and I was so surprised and impressed with the amount of time Dr. Kramer spent with me, examining my skin thoroughly and asking me several questions to try to figure out what was going on. In subsequent appointments that I've had with him, he has been equally as dedicated to helping me with my skin needs. Even as someone who gets super frustrated with how expensive American health care is, I truly believe the money that I have paid to see Dr. Kramer has been more than worth it. Dr. Kramer has been my dermatologist for 16 years. I first came to him on the recommendation of my father (another lifelong patient) when an HMO dermo misdiagnosed the lesion on my nose as a "colorless mole". It was actually a basal cell carcinoma and it required extensive and delicate surgery to remove...Dr. Kramer did a great job at the removal and reconstruction. Dr. Kramer has kept me cancer-free and has kept my skin healthy ever since. I try to go regularly twice a year to make sure nothing gets past pre-cancer. Dr. Kramer is personable and efficient. Saw Dr. Hick here for this skin inflammation issue I had around my bellybutton. The staff here was all super friendly and that was cool as most Dr.s offices I have been to the workers are all grumpy..but here everyone was cool. Also liked that from the time I got there it only took about 5mins to get ne into a exam room and another 3 mins afyer that for Dr. Hick to pop in and examine me. I came in to Dr Kramers office for mole removal today. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the office and the nice cool temperature the A/C was set at (it was hot outside). The office staff was very nice and had a very pleasant demeanor. Dr Kramer gave me an initial consultation for the removal of my mole and pointed out other things that he could take care of for me. He was very nice and pleasant the entire time. Once it came to remove my mole he was very professional and took care of it with gentle precision. I had no real discomfort the entire time. Initially impressed by office staff and Dr. Hick. Went in for a skin cancer body check and everything checked out fine. Dr. Hick said he could take care of a little bump that was nothing and I said, "you will?. And he said sure, no problem. Well, guess what? He snipped the thing off and sent me a nice big bill for it. So...taking care of something for you at this medical group doesn't mean they'll take care of it. You WILL pay. And I have no choice to pay it as they have threatened to send me to collections. I went to Dr. Kramer for 16 years and was satisfied with his care although I mainly saw his PA. However recently his practice seems to focus on aesthetics instead of medical dermatology. I was stupid enough to get sucked in to a neck tightening procedure called Thermi Tight. I wish I had never done it!! I was told that there was no down time, that there would only be minor or moderate swelling and it was painless. After 7 weeks, I still have numbness and soreness, and I had swelling for almost a month. But the worst consequence of all is that my mouth droops on one side when I talk. My smile is not normal and I can not manipulate my mouth as I did before. He says it is temporary, but after 7 weeks I'm very unhappy and scared that I will never be the same. I would NEVER recommend this treatment. I feel his practice has become focused on cash procedures for greater profit. read more

I had been seeing a dermatologist in Fountain Valley, but their soonest appt window is now out one month! I had a squamous cell skin cancer lesion growing on top of my hand, and could not wait one month. I called Dr.Kramer's office as a brand new patient, and they had open an appt one week out, which I quickly reserved. Then, about 1 hour later, they called with an immediate opening/cancellation, and I was on my way to a SAME DAY appt. Office staff was EXCEPTIONAL!, and after some quick new patient forms. I only waited about 25 minutes, and I was being operated on by Dr. Kramer's partner Dr. Hick. Doctor Hick was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and began the excision immediately. My old dermatologist would send the specimen out, and get back to you in a week or so later if they did not get it all out. Not here! They bandage you up, study the specimen right there, and after getting a clear green light, they stitched me up. No waiting-wondering if I am going to get a call to come back in. Dr. Hick informed me it was all clear and gone, and then he stitched me up. The whole process from first phone call to going home bandaged took about 3 hours! I could not be more happy! Granted, I think I had some luck from whoever cancelled their appt, but this office is still fast, professional, happy, and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Hick and this office. read more

As I do every 5 years or so, I contact a dermatologist to remove ugly skin tags and do a little maintenance to make sure stuff appearing my body is safe. I had the pleasure of finding Dr. Kramer after researching on Yelp.com and the reviews did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and Dr. Kramer was attentive and spent an hour with me doing what he does. During the procedure he told me what to expect, that I didn't need to cover the procedure marks, and a shower was okay. Whatever your issue is, don't hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Kramer. He is also progressive and emails to him were returned promptly. Something you don't see often.
