Knowing the long waits (and possibly financial challenges) of a visit to the ER I instead opted for a trip to the Same Day Care Clinic. I was pleasantly surprised! From the friendly greeting at the front desk to the very professional doctor who decided I was even sicker than I felt, I was in and out in less than an hour. I left with a nice set of instructions for my own care, and when my symptoms worsened two days later I returned and was (again) treated with empathy and understanding. Oh, and a prescription for strong antibiotics and bedrest! It's nice to know we have such a facility here in Bham, and that there's another option besides the ER when things are urgent but not to the point of dialing 9-1-1.

I waited on hold in the parking lot for 45 minutes before someone told me that the clinic was full until closing time (3 hours) and that I could come in the next day if I was concerned. It was annoying to wait, on hold, before being told that I couldn't come in. I wasn't especially concerned about the positive test, having had vaccinations and a booster. No basic cross-checking. In one case specialist arranged appt but 'reception' failed to notify. Required new appt just to find out! A routine, recurrent script for the same thing a specialist had prescribed with monthly refills for a yr required two appts at Sullivan. God help anyone in the kind of pain that requires opioids, the medical profession's whipping boy that ensures cowardly MDs will continue to undertreat extreme pain. Sullivan MDs have no interest in investigating any condition not easily identified using a crass med school reductionist model and NO mitigation is offered for even the most urgent, debillitating symptoms while awaiting specialist. Basically, a bunch of rank amateurs some less charming than others. Sullivan, alas, is now the rule not the exception in Canada's destroyed health scheme. Successive assaults of uninvested foreigners offered full access in exchange for votes - votes Cdns will no longer confer - votes very much intended to dilute Cdns' votes - along with med school entry bias in favor of any BUT Cdns has proved our undoing. Canadians pay a scandalous amount of tax for health care. Why, when it's this bad? Most galling is our inability to contract with a specialist we select ourselves on OUR time. MSP won't pay. Why not?! Basic quality care from a GP is now a luxury few Cdns enjoy. Hell, we're lucky if the treating MD, typically now a stranger at some impersonal factory clinic, is even civil. Too many of our overpaid, overloved MDs GP and specialist alike are just plain insulting. Why? B/c they know we have no recourse. We have to take it along with the endless wait times. Phooey! The BC College of Physicians and Surgeons has been well aware for more than five yrs of the dangerous dearth of GPs in South Surrey yet they STILL do nothing to mitigate. Is it time to end MDs' rapacious monopoly, which operates on condition that they protect the public interest? How much worse must our health services become before this lazy, corrupt governing body stirs its ancient Industrial Age stumps? That the College's shameful collusion in covidiocy is now the subject of action at the International Criminal Court (ICC) is still further grounds to end its unearned monopoly and increase competition among MDs in Canada in line with demand. If the College fails to ensure reasonable access to medical care at a reasonable standard we the people must demand termination of the monopoly and a corresponding reduction in tax as MDs are forced once again to the market to compete for our custom with competitive pricing. I say, bring it.

The medical office assistants are kind and helpful, and the clinic manager has been amazing. All of this has been a very welcome change, especially since my last experience of 10 years + with a different very negligent Dr. and abusive receptionist. Hats off to Dr. Kamath, Monica and the entire team at Simply Wellness Medical, Kingsway location.

I got to see the physician after an hour and a half, and was smartly told upon asking again, after an hour wait, that patients with appointments take priority over walk-ins. Staff seemed to feel it was an intrusion to be asked how long it would take. An odd attitude since the business itself seems to think that wait times are important enough to patients to put an estimate on their website - albeit a totally inaccurate estimate. It would be immensely helpful for there to be wifi access in the waiting are so people can use their time effectively. This business might also consider allowing patients access to their physician's note over the web.
