Actually, it's rather useful in Earl's Court because there's not much choice in the area, unless you're prepared to trudge over to Kensington High St, or try some of the dodgier back-street looking places. I happen to have their own tariff (Fresh) which suits me, but they are useful for accessories (I needed a phone charger and a new SIM card) and bits and pieces. They don't keep an especially large range of phones in stock, but can order items in if necessary. I haven't tried this angle of customer service, but they seemed helpful and straightfoward enough for my specific needs.

As always, there is a good selection of Apple merchandise to browse and demo from the iPhone to the iPad, from Macbooks to the Apple Watch and the staff seemed friendly enough. There isn't a visible large screen / Today at Apple section, which you'd find in other larger Apple stores. Appointment availability was adequate, but this did seem one of the more difficult branches in the city to get an appointment, I'm not sure if it is because of staffing levels or the location. PRO TIP: There is an Express Pick Up location downstairs if you're picking up an online order, so make sure you have ordered your items into the right place. 3*

We were promptly and warmly greeted by Jerome. After we explained that we needed to activate our cell phone with an O2 SIM card, he took us over to Luke. Jerome offered me a place to relax and gave me a bottle of water. What I noticed that was different here was that they did not pounce on you upon arrival and try to sell you something. They listened to your needs and then addressed them. Luke had our cell phone up and running in no time. I happen to meet the General Manager, Matthew, and another Manager, James, who explained the stores philosophy. All of their employees are paid a salary and not a commission. That makes for a stress free shopping experience. Our compliments go out to O2 for a very attractive store and caring employees.
When looking to get the latest phone on the best deal, one might go to Carphone Warehouse as they…read morecompare the prices of most of Britain's major mobile phone networks from O2 to Vodafone. Other networks, of course, include EE and Carphone Warehouse's own network, ID. Most of the contract prices were competitive, but I don't really like using Carphone Warehouse as I often find there to be better deals perhaps if you go directly to the network, then you perhaps benefit more from the network's exclusive tariffs, however by putting things together in one store does make it easier. This store is huge for a branch of Carphone Warehouse on the lower floor of Westfield London in White City, the store its-self is modern, and stands out and is probably one of the nicer branches of Carphone Warehouse I have visited, it also has numerous phones on display including a large Apple selection, if you're looking at picking up the latest iPhone this store is so much quieter than Apple's store elsewhere in the mall, meaning you don't have to fight as much to get your hands on the latest device. The staff didn't seem too eager, which surprised me as I'd presume they'd want to come over and help customers and help sign them up on the latest tariffs, because that's what they work for. I did find there to be a lack of information on tariffs at the devices, as they seem to prefer a more personal, salesman approach here, but I don't see why they can't do both with a rough estimate of quotes perhaps even loaded onto the device, as I have seen this before such as at Three on Oxford Street, which is just a short bus ride away from here. I find it interesting one of the few providers to do this, actually don't have a partnership with Carphone Warehouse so you can't shop with Three here. The store does stand out and is one of the nicer phone shops, and Carphone Warehouse stores I've visited, despite some flaws with the staff and presentation of prices, it is still a big, modern store which can be a fine example of all other Carphone Warehouse stores, many of which are crying out in need of help. 4*

I guess, we all have made our mixed experience with telecom companies. Dealing with support lines etc. was for me often a source of frustration and I try to avoid it. As it happened, I replaced my iPad with a brand new iPad Air. Unfortunately, Apple had decided to change the size of the SIM card, so I could not just continue using my existing SIM I bought at the Apple Store about two years ago with a tariff specifically for the iPad. After the online support chat was not too helpful, I walked into the O2 shop on Putney High Street. I should have known better. Once again, the customer service was appalling - they went so far to say that what I was asking for was not possible. And asking the customer to do the registration of the new Nano SIM on their own mobile phone, that does not even support Nano SIMs, is not really a clever move. Because I had similar experiences at the Fulham Broadway and the Putney High Street branches before, I decided to give O2 a last chance and the next Saturday, I walked down to the O2 shop at 134 Oxford Street. In the past, they were always friendly and competent. And once again, the customer service at this particular O2 branch was great. The guy was very friendly and efficient, he knew what he was doing, he was explaining the options and sorted everything out for me. Thanks only to him, I continue to use my O2 SIM with the iPad Air. Loved having the "mobile" while I was there because my US Droid X cannot be used overseas due the system and lack of a removable SIM card.
