Might seem like a strange business to give a review to, but I have to give the folks in the recycling area a good word. They've always treated me right, are quick to take care of people who are turning in recyclables, and actually make the person feel good after the experience. As far as their curbside collection service goes, it has been excellent. I know it's a dirty job, and they're the ones doing it, but they keep doing their curbside collection every week, despite the weather, and I don't ever hear them. And on bad weather days, they lay the cans down in such a way that they won't blow away after being emptied. Kudos to those who do our dirty jobs for us! read more

The billing system is out dated and ridiculous! Eel River Disposal has a monopoly in this town and they know it! The billing statements are tiny little cards that constantly get lost in the mail. They terminate service when you don't receive your bill. It is an error in the company's system. The office staff knows the billing system is ancient. They do nothing to fix the problem, only punish the customer. If I had a choice I would cancel my service all together with this company. Unfortunately I am stuck with ERD being the only garbage company in town. read more

They'd get ZERO stars if it weren't for the people who go around and do the dirty work of collecting the trash and recycling and then sorting it. But their office staff and the owner, Harry Harden, are completely unprofessional and rude. No customer service whatsoever. The last time I called, I was told one thing, then charged something different when my bill came. The office lady said she was the one who took the notes, so she knew she was right because she wouldn't have written what she did if I hadn't said it. The thing is, I never agreed to what she was claiming. Instead of working things out with me she said "just pay what you want"...so they could report me to collections. Harry wasn't any help at all and didn't even bother to call me back when I called him. The basic fact is that they are the only collectors in the area, they have NO customer service, and they treat the customers they have very poorly. So unfortunately, if you're new to the area, and need service, you have no choices here. They're nice at first when you sign up. But God forbid if you have an issue that needs to be resolved or need to speak to someone who has the cardinal rule of customer service in their attitude. I no longer use ERD and have moved out of the area where I've dealt with far more competent people than these jerks. I went to get a roll off bin for household garbage and left over material removed from a job and I couldn't believe who this place operates. The cost of the bin wasn't to far fetched at 510.00 for a 20 yard bin but the 90.00 an/hr for drive time for both drop off there and back and pick up there and back to So Hum was ridiculous. Then I asked the dumb question of how many hours it would take for all the trips and did the drivers have a log sheet to show how many hours they are on the road, and got laughed at. "That was her estimation" she stated. I also was to pay 100 percent up front for and estimated time that was so far off the 8 hours she quoted me. It was more like 4 hours tops. This is the only place in the county and they are monopolizing the industry. 1300. Plus dollars for a bin? Really? Guess I will haul it little by little to the transfer station. Good job Eel River Disposal you get one star but deserve a black hash mark through your name. read more

it's to difficult to recyle there, they want you to do all the work by seperating your recycle for them. If you live in Fortuna you get to put all your recycle in one container, they pick it up and your done. They should make a single dumpster available for those who do not wish to seperate their recycle. read more
