I remember my mother used to use them and she HATED them, so that was a no. I really didn't know where to turn. My nights were becoming stressful because I usually had my taxes done the second I had my W2's. But with a confusing situation and some additional, unrecognizable documents, I didn't want to do it myself like I always had. I turned to Yelp. I searched "taxes", and Acade Tax Services, LLC was the first thing to pop up. "5 stars? Oh, this has to be a good place" I've always been the kind of person who has to hype themself up before making a phone call or I shout and cry because I'm not as much of an adult as I like to say I am. I called, and I got a machine (which is totally great!). The message told me I could make an appointment on the website. I made one there, and it was easy peasy. There are late appointments available (mine was at 8PM) which is great for someone like me who is a busy bumble bee. I was super nervous just becuase I'm that kind of person, but the whole experience was great. Darren is awesome to work with! He answered all of my questions, explained everything in detail when needed (I needed it a lot). He's very friendly and made me feel confident that I chose the right person this tax season. I will definitely be returning to him, and I have already told many people to see him. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

Not anymore! For the past couple of years, I have been going here and Jon has been making sure tax season isn't stressful or scary. As a sole proprietor, I need to count on someone like Jeff as the laws are constantly changing. Jeff is a personal income tax consultant, a small business with two locations. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents. Wikipedia states the definition of an Enrolled Agent (or EA) is a tax advisor, who is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Enrolled Agents represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax issues that include audits, collections and appeals. Jeff is an experienced tax advisor and a really nice guy. His office is accessible, he has pandemic guides in place, Plexiglas and mask wearing included. He's an absolute professional, is efficient, reasonable fees, and is responsive to emails all year round if you have a question. Highly recommend.

This mistake was found by me immediately upon review of the paperwork when I got home. I attempted to contact the office to delay the filing of my return, to no avail. I showed up before the office opened the very next day and talked to the manager, as my agent was off that day. He agreed with me on the mistake and filled out an amended return, as he could not reverse the filed return. This amended return was wildly inaccurate. I was informed that I would have to refile ANOTHER amended return after this one was returned as the refund would be excessive. I waited until the end of August, and I have not received a check. I called the Corporate office and made an appointment only to find out that my amended return was never filed (probably a good thing because it was wrong), and she helped me sort out the mess and file the correct amended return. I understand mistakes happen, and I'm reasonable. At the same time, having to raise money to pay taxes I do not owe is unacceptable. Waiting five months to be told the amendment was never filed is unacceptable. Charging me full price after screwing up my return this badly is unacceptable. Stay away from the West Seneca office!!!

My wife and I have used Turbo tax for the past 10+ years but we decided to try H and R block to get…read moreestablished with a tax company since we bought a house and planned on having children in the future. We paid more than double the Turbo Tax fee at $200 (that's without the insurance for when we make a mistake, such as a missing document on our end). We felt confident with our decision thinking our taxes would be in great hands and done accurately. Long story short, numbers were entered on incorrect lines from our W2, leading to a NYS audit with interest tacked onto the bill. When calling H and R block about their mistake, their response was "oh we're sorry, you didn't buy the insurance, so all we can do is offer $50 off next year's taxes." First of all, why would I come back and have them do our taxes when they couldn't even enter them correctly the first time? We don't own a business or even have children. Our taxes are straight forward! After speaking to Kimberly Wilkinson (she works at the Elmwood Avenue location) who incorrectly entered the data, we asked to speak to a manager. My wife spoke to Roxanne (Kimberly's manager) who offered the $50 off of our upcoming taxes. We asked to speak to her boss (Delilah, located at the Amherst and Grant H and R block). We never received a call back. Crickets. We called back and everyone conveniently left for the day by 3pm!! If you call the main customer service number, your wait is 50+ minutes and then it will disconnect the call. Customer service is extremely poor. You shouldn't need to buy additional insurance when the accountant should be competent enough to take numbers from a W2 and enter it correctly into a tax form, this is literally her role as an accountant. The insurance is there to protect the filer if they forget a document, not to cover the incompetence of their accountant. You are better off doing your taxes anywhere else except for H and R block, they absolutely will not take care of you.
