Nice bar area in the restaurant

We had a pretty good breakfast here- the service was amazing. The food was fine. I had the breakfast burrito and hash browns. The potatoes were a little under seasoned and the burrito was fine. It was pretty big and full of good stuff. My companion had the avocado toast and an egg which was also good. The seasoned potatoes seemed like again they could have used more seasoning. The coffee was ok- but as I said the staff was great and the place is nice inside and sparkling clean.

It's been a long time since I've been to Peoria. Before heading out, we stopped at Eggcellent. It was a busy morning, but we only waited less than 10 minutes. We ended up at the bar, which was good, because it was quieter. I ordered coffee, pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and french toast. The french toast was slightly undercooked. That was fine. Honestly, it's hard to get it perfect. The staff was super friendly. I did appreciate they used Lysol to sanitize the table/counter. Good food, give it a try. Only warning, parking can be tough if it's busy.

Excited to check out Eggcellent Café for breakfast, and it delivered in some ways. The location is convenient with plenty of parking, and the wait was surprisingly short for a Sunday morning--though it got busier as time went on. There is limited space and seating inside, so timing is key to avoid long waits. The service was great! My server was attentive and even brought the check before I finished, which I appreciated, though others might find it a bit rushed. I ordered the Carnivore Skillet with bacon, sausage, ham, American cheese, and a side of biscuits and gravy. The flavors were great, but the food was lukewarm and the cheese was unmelted which took away from the experience. I'd return to try more items, but I hope they step up on serving hot dishes next time!

On our way out of Peoria after a wedding weekend, we were looking for some brunch and Eggcellent Cafe obliged. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside. Frustratingly, there were quite a few flies that were pretty annoying. Once we ordered, the food came out super quickly. The potatoes were a hit and well worth picking over any other side. My eggs were delicious as well and the Eggcellent house hot sauce is super unique. It's the right mix of flavor and spice that it doesn't overpower the rest of the dish.

South of the boarder (I don't know why they spell it like that.) Benedict. Two thumbs up.

Service was not that great but the food was alright. Waitress seemed to be forgetting us. If you go with someone and can't decide between sweet or savory, order a savory that's easy to spit like a Benedict (since it comes with two halves) and some pancakes or French toast. That's the move homie.

Review Visit: August 20th, 2022 Eggcellent Cafe was... mostly excellent. It was a nice and dreary day that started with the slightest of hangovers from a wedding the night before and a yearning for something delicious to fill our empty bellies. Doug suggested we try this place as he wanted to sample a place that wasn't a national chain. It had been on my list for awhile now so next thing I knew, we were snapping a fun photo with the sign and heading in for some food. I had been in this specific building before when it was Crust Pizza. I was instantly reminded how small the location was when we walked in and saw that seating was limited and tables were somewhat close to together. Things were far enough away where you could have a conversation with your company but it could easily be heard by the people next to you if you listened well enough. We were seated at a table and lucky us, we got there when the restaurant was half-full as within 30 minutes, every table was full and people were being seated outside. Our server was super perky and took our drink order and food order within a reasonable time despite running her tail off. Doug ordered the Irish Benny and I got the Eggcellent Combo. The cooks must've been in a good groove as we got our food in a relatively short order considered how busy it was. There was a bit of a funny moment when the waitress put my pancakes down in front of me and then came back a second later to top off my coffee and I tried to move my cup out of her way because I thought she had syrup in her hand and was going to douse my pancakes with it... but it was the coffee pot and she had to chase my cup around the table to fill it as I sleepily tried to keep moving it out of her way. Once my cup was filled and I was given the actual syrup container, Doug and I dug in. My meal being just two pancakes, two eggs, and two bacon strips (which I gave one to Doug cause he was eyeing it), it wasn't mindblowing delicious but it was just what a sleep-deprived-and-slightly-hungover me needed. The applewood bacon had a nice crispiness to it and the pancakes had a buttery smoothness to them. Doug on the other hand was in love from first bite. He has some culinary schooling so he knows that nuances to look for and Eggcellent Cafe knocked them out of the park for him. He raved about how his hash browns were nice and crispy, how his biscuits were homemade and how the basics were done to perfection. He loved the place so much that he looks forward to visiting again when he comes back next year for our usual beerfest shenanigans. He let me sample the hash browns and they did have a nice crisp to them. I took a spoonful of his sausage and gravy and while it didn't knock my socks off, it did for Doug. The theme of the restaurant was, to me, a bit of a hybrid of a coffeehouse, a diner, and something else. I couldn't quite place my finger on what it made me think of but it was all very nice, new, and well taken care of. I didn't get to snap as many interior photos as I wanted to be courteous to those who were eating and those who were being seated/leaving. I was quite surprised at how busy it was considering the location leaves a bit to be desired. It's not hard to get to the restaurant, it's just tucked away enough that you might overlook it or not be in the right spot to see it. The pricing is a bit higher than I eggpected but the place definitely delivers a higher quality meal than, say, a diner might. This is really an eggcellent place to get breakfast, even if my meal was more simple. I have some other friends that are interested in checking it out so maybe I will sample their lunch menu if and when we drop in.

We were leaving Peoria headed to Chicago to catch our flight but had a little extra time and looked for somewhere to eat. When we arrived the line looked way out the door, there were so many people waiting and we were worried it would take forever, but we didn't want Panera so we took our chances here. We were sat almost immediately being only a party of 2. The server was sat 3-4 tables at almost the same time and she went from one to the other like clockwork. She gathered everyone's drink orders and had our drinks out very quick. After that she went to the tables in the same order for food. She was very efficient, very kind and smiled through it all despite how chaotically busy it seemed. When I tell you we were there less than 15 minutes before our food came out I'm not lying. From the time we sat down we had our drinks and food in 15 minutes or less. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Service was spectacular and we were so glad we decided to take the chance with the line because they had things streamlined so well. On the rare chance we ever come back to Peoria, we will definitely stop in again.

Cluck cluck skillet. Tastes amazing and is available as an omelet.

I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fresh fruit. . The chicken came as ordered, plain, with a side of honey mustard. The fruit was also very fresh! Everything was very tasty! My friends ordered the tenderloin and unfortunately I can't remember my other friend's order. They did say the enjoyed the food and too home the extras to finish. I thought my server was wonderful. I am currently on a low salt diet and she did her best to accommodate my needs. After she found out the tenderloin only came breaded she checked to make sure that would be okay, which it wasn't, but helped me order something else. She also didn't charge me extra for the fruit since I was unable to have a side. The cafe was very busy, but not too noisy, except for maybe one person who was seated across from us. I cannot wait to return, I had an exceptional meal.

This place 520 has become our family breakfast on Saturday mornings when we visit. The place is always busy. Sometimes we gotta wait on a table but they usually move pretty quick. On thus trip I talked to the owner as I was paying and told him how good everything was and how far we drove and had to drive home. Oscar is his name and is a great guy. As I was paying he fiddled with the register and as he gave me my change he slipped me a gift card. I was kinda taken back a little and we talked a little more then I went back to the table to finish our coffee to get ready to leave. I got to say the staff here is spot on. Never did we want for anything. The food was great and coffee was delicious. So we pack up the kids and go out to the cars to transfer bags and luggage when I turn around and here comes Oscar the owner. Evidently I dropped the card he had given me. He came right out and we talked a little more to the point I feel we made new friends with each other. I totally recommend eating here. You won't be disappointed. She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!
