Came into this 50's- style flashback for brunch recently. The place was fairly busy, but they seemed to have a good turnover. The interior has some funny signs and posters a d then some classic staples, jukebox, Elvis cutout ect. The food was okay. Not a lot of flavor, but the portions were pretty good. The service however, was almost nonexistent. Our waitress took our order and brought our food, but never checked and it took awhile to get our menus and our bill. Wont be in a hurry to get back, but would try for lunch sometime.

My boyfriend and I enjoy some roadside kitsch, so when a magic shop we wanted to visit in Champaign was closed, this place was a welcome substitute. While it's not terribly impressive on the outside (it's in a strip mall), the 50's diner is a full-in blast from the past. Even better, it has a gift shop with all of the cheesy handmades (Signs with quotes! Crocheted tablecloths!) you could want. It has an old-fashioned soda fountain/diner counter and a jukebox, interesting cut outs on the walls, and a Batman on the ceiling (Why?) Service was great! There was a sign that said they were understaffed, but it didn't feel like it. To drink, I ordered a Red River (cherry soda). Green River was out, which made me a little sad. My boyfriend ordered the Reuben and I ordered the patty melt, and they were everything they should be: buttered bread, AMERICAN cheese (this place ain't fancy), burger patty that would be overdone by itself (me) but was perfect on the sandwich, buttery grilled onions (me), tangy and creamy homemade 1000 island dressing (my boyfriend). We both got the onion tanglers, which are like thick-cut onion rings, but are coarsely-chopped instead of rings. Salty crispy heaven served with a side of ranch in true Midwestern fashion. With tip, our bill was about $25. No doubt this will be a regular stop on our trips west!

I have been wanting to come here for a while. We started off with the homemade chicken noodle soup, which was very good. I had the Lucy Sandwich and fries and my guest had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy with corn. I will definitely be back.

This was a pretty neat place. If you are looking for somewhere to take a trip down memory lane, this is it! With the 50's style decor and an attached gift shop full of 50's era mementos, it's sure to give the family something to talk about over supper! The food was average and the service was average. If you are looking for a place where you can get in and out, this is not it. The music however was GREAT, and the ambiance was what you would expect for a blast through the past!

We enjoyed our latest trip to Peoria. This diner & attached store has a great early morning breakfast. There was a crowd. The staff were friendly, attentive & running. Like many places, they now close on Tuesdays due to staffing. Loved the store adjacent since I got to replace some of my kitchen towels, too. Don't miss them on your next trip down University.

    Very neat interior!

Is Smoothie King really the king of all smoothie places? Possibly. This is the only smoothie place I have visited so far, so it may possibly be the most delicious and bestest smoothie place there is. This place kicks butt!…read more My friend Tim told me about this place awhile back and has been waiting patiently for it to open. Fast forward 2 months when we planned a day to hang out and play board games when I suggested we check it out. Matt, Tim, and I popped in on a Saturday afternoon and all was quiet. As we walked up, we almost turned around as it looked closed (there was a big lock on one of the doors) but I wanted to 100% be sure it was closed so I walked up to visually confirm there was no one inside. Come to our surprise that it was open. We quickly dipped inside to avoid the humidity and heat of the day and made our ways to the giant tvs that displayed the menus. Said menus quickly irritated us as they were on a continuous scroll every 5 seconds or so... of the same photo. There are 3 tvs and each one displayed one portion of the menu. Each one was set up to a slideshow effect and would transition to the next photo of the same photo it just showed you. So, we kept having to re-focus on where we were despite it being the same image. It took a bit longer to figure out what we wanted to order because of this. But once we knew what we wanted, we ordered with the cashier and waited for our drinks. Tim was distracted with his phone when Matt and I got distracted with something behind the counter. It was this machine that shook the drinks and let me tell you... we were mesmerized by it. We both commented on it at the same time and kept watching the workers load drinks in it. Then we were mesmerized by the machine that put a seal on the cups. Both Matt and I said we could watch this process all day. I've had sealed drinks like this before but never one that was done within viewing range. Any who, like us getting distracted by that machine, I am getting off topic here. We were served our drinks and we walked over to Costco to get some pizzas for our game night. My first sip of my drink (which was a caramel macchiato) and I knew I made the right choice. It was a delicious mix of what you would expect a caramel macchiato to taste like but in a slush-form. For it being a hot and humid day, it was the perfect thing to sip on during the walk over and through Costco. I can see myself coming back here for a special treat once in awhile. The Levee District in East Peoria has a lot of cool shops but severely lacks a place that I think Kung Fu Tea fills in nicely. Sure, there is a Starbucks and Dunkin' nearby, but this place adds something to the area that I feel that it's lacking. This was evident by the fact that when we walked in, there were only 2 people in there but when we left, there were about 12-15 people milling about, waiting to order or waiting for their drinks. I hope they continue to do well as the landscape of most areas needs some diversity over the usual big chains and corporations.
