Having started a mild exercise regimen, I noticed a small popping sound in my right ear when I ran on the treadmill or ran up and down the stairwells at work. Having had so much success at Ochsner, I looked in their directory and picked Dr. Herbert W. Van Horn III, as his credentials looked solid and he had appointment in the very near future. Dr. Van Horn has local ties to the city, "having earned his medical degree in 1977 from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. In 1982 he completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Van Horn is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2005." One hour prior to my appointment, I underwent an audiogram, the results of which were already available to him just one hour later. Contrary to my wife' s belief, my hearing is actually in the "normal range, even though I have lost a little of the ability to hear some high pitches sounds, especially if there is a lot of ambient noise in the background. As for the popping sound in my right ear, it was simply a small piece of earwax right next to my eardrum that a safety Q-Tip was unable to reach. Voila, no more popping. When Dr. Van Horn first walked in the door, he looked so serious, but he actually had a very good bedside manner and a pretty darn good sense of humor; which is very pleasing to me. All in all I made a great choice. So if you are in the market for a E.N.T., give Doc Van Horn a call.

And there is nothing…read moreI feel more strongly about than my one and only child; which is where Dr. Staci Olister comes to relevance. In 2012, I credit her with saving my son's life just days after he was born. Our son was delivered 4 weeks early via emergency C-Section after some previously unknown medical issues were discovered during a bio-physical ultrasound. Sixty minutes after that ultrasound, we had our baby boy. And after three days in the E.J.G.H. neo-natal intensive care unit, he was transferred to Children's Hospital and placed under the care of Neonatologist Staci Olister. Since E.J.G.H. was unable to stabilize our son or provide a definitive answer as to what was causing our son's "issues", Dr. Olister took a very aggressive approach and assembled a team of specialists and ordered a battery of tests, including multiple MRI's and CAT scans. As frightening as this experience was, Dr. Olister's calming demeanor and heartfelt compassion for what we were experiencing as new parents truly helped us. Within a 1/2 day of our arrival, Dr. Olister had diagnosed our son with a very serious condition and immediately started him on medications that saved his life. She could see the grief and disbelief in our eyes when telling us his diagnosis, and comforted us beyond what I thought any doctor was capable of. This was a lady whom we had just met 8-10 hours earlier, and here she was hugging us and telling us that she was going to do everything she could for our baby boy; like she had known us for years and was a close personal friend. That month in the NICU at Children's Hospital was a rough period, but Dr. Olister kept us informed every step of the way. Her skills as a neonatologist are second to none, but it's her bedside manner and people skills that make her an exceptional doctor, and one that I would recommend to anyone; even though I hope none of you ever need a neonatologist. Dr. Olister is a New Orleans native, went to LSU, LSU med school and completed her residency and fellowship at the LSU Medical Center. Children's Hospital and the City of New Orleans are lucky to have her, and we are forever in her debt for everything that she did for us. On a side note, I feel it's relevant to mention that Dr. Olister works for Dr. Brian Barkemeyer, who is the head of the CHNOLA Neonatology Department, and a childhood acquaintance of mine. And it's my opinion that many of Dr. Olister's awesome traits are a credit to Dr. Barkemeyer. I'm just thankful we were fortunate enough to have her take care of our son. She is a credit to the medical profession and to humanity.

I have been seeing him at their Marrero location & have had 3 endoscopies there over the last few yrs. I found all of their staff very professional & very caring, from the reception area, thru the scheduler & clinic nursing staff. All of the nurses in their endoscopy sweet are wonderful! For those of you that may of heard about Ronald McDonald houses for children going through cancer treatment and their families this is the American Cancer Society's version of offering housing for cancer patients and their caretakers when they are away from home. We are about 5000 miles away from home and yet we feel so welcome here it is been a true blessing to have this wonderful place to stay. We can't thank the staff and volunteers enough for their wonderful hospitality. Love the decor here to, just like a beautiful hotel!

I made an appointment with them 10am Monday morning he gave me an exam his team treated me for 1 year before I had Cervical Spine Fusion Surgery. I never needed pain medication because I saw this team of professionals 3 times a week. Without them I never would have been able to walk down the aisle. I owe them a debt of gratitude that cannot be expressed with just words. They are more than just a Chiropractor office. They care about the well being of their patient's. It didn't matter what new symptom or pain complaint I came in with they has a new way to approach it and fix it. I never left there without a smile on my face and feeling like I was in good hands and cared for. I am a tough cookie, I am picky about the team of doctors who care for me.
