I decided to come here since i wanted to try some new sticks. And online you usually have to buy them in groups of 5 so wanted to be able to buy singular ones and am thinking I might just do my regular shopping here. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The employee was very nice and sociable. I spent a lot of time browsing and in the past that has led to some places getting on me thinking I'm gonna steal, and offering assistance every minute or 2. And he never bothered me. He greeted me when I got there, asked if I was looking for anything particular and after I said I was just browsing. He allowed me to just browse on my own and I really appreciated that. I'll definitely be back. read more

I'd just like to drop a raving review of this place! I know some folks have mentioned that the staff are disengaged, but I think somehow they've missed the point. I did find that the staff was in fact generally hanging out and watching tv either with one another or other customers, but that didn't stop them from being helpful. I engaged two employees during my time in the shop and both listened carefully and non-judgmentally to my desires. While I was looking for a smoke they each brought me to a separate section of the store and made personal selections from the collection that were both really enjoyable and reasonably priced. I've been to dozens of cigar shops over the years, but I always make a point of not being an expert, and these guys just hit it out of the park. They could have hit me with $30 sticks, or ignored me as most shops do, but they dug in and spent the time to help me find what I really wanted. The space is really comfortable and well kept, free soda, water and coffee to fend off that nicotine jitter. If I had one beef it would be that the ventilation is just so-so, but what do you expect? Hey Cigar lovers!!! Make your way to Villa Park. Let me set the picture for you. We're on 83 on our way to Elmhurst Hospital to help our friends welcome their new baby girl into the world. It's my family tradtion to pass out cigars when a baby is born, so I knew I had to stop somewhere to grab a few for the dad and my guy to share. I opened up my helpful Yelp app and found 8 to 8, my new stop for cigars from now on. This place has been here for years! I have driven past it a million times. I just couldn't picture it. I took a turn west on St. Charles Rd off 83 and it was just up the street a mile or so on the South side of the street. We walked in to a cigar scented wonderland. It was very well organized, and cleaner than expected. We informed the owner that our friend was not cigar smoker by any means, but we wanted to get him a cigar to celebrate this momentous occassion in their lives. The owner suggested a Gurkha Special Reserve cigar. It's a Honduran made cigar dipped in cognac and from what I understood, is the ideal non-cigar smoker's choice for a celebratory cigar. I'm so glad we stopped, as I'm sure my father will be for many years to come, because I'm the daughter that enjoys buying these little guys for my daddy. There's a nice lounge with leather chairs and big wall mounted televisions. There is also a large work table with chairs in a quieter area. They even have a nice patio for when the weather is nice. Whenever I'm in Chicago this is my go to place for a quality cigar. Their humidor is very well kept and I have yet to get a bad cigar from them. There is tones of selection as most of the walls are lined with humidors. They have a lounge room that is quite nice and fairly large with comfy chairs, TV's and coffee makers. I'm not sure if you can drink alcohol there or not though. Fair prices, big selection, and quality cigars make this a great place to get a stick. read more

Great shop with a wide selection of everything. Staff is helpful and friendly and so is the clientele. This is probably one of the most accommodating smoking lounges I've been in. They provide soda and coffee, and the coffee is always fresh. It's like a Starbucks where you can smoke, but with better coffee. They'll charge you a $10 fee if you use their smoking lounge without buying something from them, but that's fair considering it's kind of rude to just walk into a business to use their facilities for free. They also host lots of events like the Chicago Pipe Collectors' Club meetings, and just the other day they had a huge sale and provided food. Everyone shopping was encouraged to help themselves to hot dogs, brats or chili. That's how you run a business. read more

Eight to Eight Cigars is an outstanding cigar retail store and smoking space. Its owners know the product. They have special relationships with some of the manufacturers too. Eight to Eight has lots of humidor space and inventory that spans many of the top or desirable brands. The owners are on site, and they know cigars. All of them can help you find what you are looking for, or else recommend an alternative. For example, four years ago I came in to the shop to buy an Enchantment, certainly a safe choice, and long one of my preferred sticks. One of the owners buttonholed me (I had been a customer for about one year at that point) and insisted that I sample several Tatajues that had just come on the market. Right he was. We all know what has happened since, as Tatajue has become popular and well-regarded, a surprise cigar from Mexico. On any given day you will see new inventory arriving. Turnover must be good. The store is a pretty good place to enjoy your smoke, too. There are a few tables with high bar chairs scattered around, and a few armchairs around the TV. There is even a very basic cafe service offered by the store. The same man who rang up your cigar purchase can fix you an espresso. Eight to Eight is the site of cigar parties hosted by manufacturers, distributors, or other sponsors. The store is also plugged in to cigar dinners and other happenings that it can sell to customers. I love this place! An amazing selection, a decent-sized free lounge area, and a 'hoot' for hanging with good old Chi types. Salt of the earth types. There's a small group of regulars who I see almost every time I visit--regardless of day or time. Pretty entertaining... But as to cigars it can't be beat. Killer selection and decent prices. Free wi-fi and coffee. I love going there to work or read. I could live without the ever-on FOX news but it's also part of the 'ambiance' of the old-school I like. I love to listen to the retired codgers who complain constantly while puffing on great smokes. The owners are also the owners of Casa De Montecristo and are aggressive businessmen. Great store! Cigar lovers in Chicago should make the trip out here. They are a sister store to Casa de Montecristo in Countryside. Terrific selection of brands that are hard to find in a B&M in Chicago like Liga Privada, Tatujae, Camacho, Joya de Nicaragua, My Father, etc. Great lounge area with two TVs, coffee, drinks, and sometimes snacks. A great place to hang out and watch a game. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their product. Prices are very fair. I've been living in Villa Park for about a year and I've finally made it to this shop(Sorry Craig!), considering I only live about 5 min walk away, I should be coming to this place a lot more often. This is a sister shop to the flagship store in countryside (Casa De Montecristo). But nevertheless, it is a great place to unwind and grab a nice stick and enjoy the friendly atmosphere for few hours or all night. Plenty of space with TVs playing various channels, free sodas/water/coffee, BYOB and can bring food or get it delivered. They do have some store exclusives and custom rolls so try them out when you get a chance. You won't be disappointed! read more

Been there 3 times recently. First trip was normal, as expected. Second time I thought the person working was a little short with me but didn't think much about it. 3rd time service was ok enough but the cigar I chose seemed a little dried out. On my most recent visit I bought a $12 cigar (don't want to bash the brand bc it's normally pretty good and I have them in my home humidor). Point being it's a decent cigar. Anyways, it had a terrible draw. I asked to use the draw tool and they did but it had coned already from trying to draw on it and it scorched it to a terrible taste (I didn't even get through the first third). The employee asked me how the cigar was and explained what was going on to the employee working and their response was "what do you want me to do about it, because there isn't anything I can do". I wasn't really expecting anything but in other cigar shops they've offered a replacement if the cigar is THAT bad within the first 10 min of smoking it. I decided to just eat the $12 and abandon the cigar and let it die with dignity. As I walked out of the shop I just felt kinda crappy about my experience because I made a special trip out just to go there. They didn't do much to earn my business today and honestly with the other 3 experiences being average at best I'll probably just go to Wolfhound or Stogies going forward, their cigars aren't locked up in cases like criminals either. I told the person who recommended me to 8 to 8 what happened and they said they quit going there too because of a few similar type situations. I was surprised because I had seen quite a few good reviews on this place. Too bad really, with fall and winter coming up I'd be going to shops/ lounges much more often to smoke because of the weather, it just won't be at 8 to 8. read more

This is a wonderful cigar store. Mike the owner is extremely nice and helpful and the staff are very knowledgeable about cigars. The prices are very fair and they do run a few specials throughout the year mostly around Father's Day weekend. I never had a bad cigar yet as they keep a careful watch on the humidity. They have just opened a second store in Countryside that has a Las Vegas setting in the down stairs sitting area. If in the Chicago area, please check both stores out. read more
